  1. For me - Dawkins isn't even top 3 in the conference, let alone the league. Paying him top 3-5 money doesn't make sense.
  2. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/buf/2019-snap-counts.htm
  3. There's always the option of also trading a player for player at another position too. Sort of what they did with Harold for Bates. Maybe there's a LB out there or a RB that they had their eyes on that they can pry away with a cut candidate due to an injury or something.
  4. They had 7 D/ST touchdowns last year including 2 blocked punts. Defensive scores, and takeaways in general are hard things to control year over year. The way to control TO differential is to not turn the ball over. They just added 2 new TE's and they have a solid stable of running backs, and a better offensive line than a year ago based on health. They're going to run the ball and probably set up Stidham with playaction. Lots of screens and backshoulder stuff that won't result in turnovers, and they'll target edelman for some easy yards. Doing as much stuff as possible to make it easy on Stidham, and make it easier on their defense. Their defense maintains a strong secondary and had strong depth a year ago. They blitz so much I'm not sure the Van Noy loss is that huge. So many young QBs in the league and they just force them to make mistakes. If the defense maintains their hold as a top 5 yardage defense (#1 last year), and can still generate something like 25 or so takeaways (36 last year) - they'll be in the playoff race.
  5. It's Post-draft and Cam newtons still a free agent. Many teams are strapped for cap space. Jameis Winston threw for 5000 yards last year, is younger, and just signed a deal for a million dollars. He's at the rock bottom of his value at the moment. Just sign somewhere where you might get some playing time and hit open free agency next year when teams have money to spend. He's 0-4 in the playoffs and hasn't made it in 5 years. Nobody has cap space to give the guy 18 million, nor should they.
  6. Even though he's terrible. Before that was Landry Jones... who was also terrible. I think they're trying to use QB2 to develop behind Ben, but they all come out terrible. And it cost them 2019 because they were pathetic down the stretch. What a waste of a beast defense that grabbed a ton of takeaways.
  7. 3-13... 8-8 against baltimore though and 12-5 against the browns. So he wasn't terrible against the rest of the division Is he? Winston just got 1 million. There's no market for his services at 18 million.
  8. Not going to read the article but - Allen did have an absolutely atrocious game against NE in week 4. The blocked punt was the big killer but Buffalo played incredibly bad in that game.
  9. True - but with Cam still hanging out there. Might be a better chance at a ring as well if that's something he's going for.
  10. I think Pittsburgh would be interesting. Their season fell apart last year because all their backups are terrible. Roethlisberger has missed time in 4 of 5 seasons, he's 38... they should have a backup plan.
  11. They like Barkley for his brain - but between Daboll and Dorsey there's a few brains in there now. At the end of the day, if Fromm can process things faster and they have comparable arms - you go with Fromm. Processing speed, pocket presence, and ball security are the most important traits a backup can have. He's there to come in, take whats given, get balls to playmakers, and not turn it over. Barkley has 21 picks, 10 fumbles over a span of 645 snaps. He has a low sack rate but an insanely high int rate.
  12. Assuming Daboll/Allen can figure out a way to score more than like 10 points against them. I know they lost players on defense but they're still formidable, and they seem to blitz and confuse Allen like no one else can.
  13. Not for lack of trying. They traded for glenn (always injured), drafted Williams (immediately got hurt), drafted price (also hurt, now just not good), drafted Ogbuehi and Fisher. Just a lot of misses and injuries. I think Jones in the 3rd would've been a good target, but lets not forget that they also have a terrible defense
  14. I just see him as a better backup plan than hoyer. Considering Winston just got paid like nothing - its conceivable that he'll also get paid nothing.
  15. Sounds like he wanted 2 more years and they were unwilling to commit. Not sure they are better equipped to win with the guys they have now, but they figure out in 2020 whether stidham has it, and if he doesn't they can explore other avenues in 2021. Rather than waiting til draft 2021, or even until 2022.
  16. I dunno, consider me a skeptic. If there were more league smoke to it I think i might care, but it seems like there is probably like no evidence of any wrongdoing here.
  17. It's based solely on the big board. Most of the reaches are later round picks. He was picked at 188 and was 281 on the big board. Based on that, at that point there are 100 more valuable players that they could have selected.
  18. yeah things were on a pretty good 10-15 minute delay at that point in the broadcast. They were talking about guys 3-4 picks before moss when he got drafted.
  19. How would you know the play in advance from viewing the sideline though? After all the spygate stuff - you think they would use a film crew in the media room to do it? Like a complete lack of subtlety. At the time Bill said that he was following the rule as he had interpreted it. So they squashed that rule and punished him. Now he's going to go some crazy other route to film the bengals sidelines? I'm certain they pulled every bit of film that that crew shot.
  20. Yeah - I'm not picking their brain for much at this point. If I'm on the team I might golf with them, chat about maybe buffalo media, or what i can do to help with their foundation or any other philanthropic initiatives. Maybe talk a little bit about like "being a pro". Basically paying my respects to the the people who built the franchise. Outside of that? The game passed most of these guys by. Not much they can help with that coaches can't. You're going to see a lot of them every year at the christmas parties, and other bills related stuff. Better to get to know them on your own time so they don't see it as a slight.
  21. I think that considering the astros were filming and providing intel during the game that its imo a bigger advantage. Knowing the pitch thats coming is a huge advantage. Even if only a few players took advantage of it (bregman, gonzalez, altuve at least)- they lead the league in average, OBP, and slg% all while having the fewest strikeouts. I think the investigation of this needs to get back to someone in front office for it to have any legs. If it was just a cameraman who reports to a producer, who reports to vp of marketing - and there isn't anything evidence wise to involve these tapes ever getting to the coaching staff. Its hard for me to find them guilty of anything other than a rule violation - and i guess a fine or whatever. The conspiracy to cheat needs to be there imo for there to be punishment to the football group. Do any of the tapes ever go to Bill? What's on the majority of the tapes?
