  1. He landed in a good spot. Gets diggs targets, and with Thielen drawing more of the tougher coverages. I like him a lot though - great back shoulder guy, great hands, fights for extra yards. A bit like JuJu, some of that tyler boyd - both really good players, and he gets to mentor with Thielen. I don't think he's going to get tons of long TDs, but he's good now and going to be a great player.
  2. Trey flowers isn't particularly fast, strong or crazy athletic at the OLB/DE spot but he was really good for NE. Struggling a bit this year, but i guess he's been hurt.
  3. They went with the proven guy in Diggs over who might be there at 22 or trying to maneuver around other teams picks in that round. They wanted a man coverage beater - Jeudy wouldn't have been there, lamb wouldn't have been there, ruggs wouldn't have been there. Jefferson was there, but buffalo didn't know that - and he always seemed to project as a #2 WR.
  4. Diggs being basically 1st has been great. AJ and Moss weren't reaches and seem to be players. You drafted a kicker who made the team. Late round rookie WR looked solid in camp, and with a few guys likely off the roster he may get a shot next year. Jackson didn't look out of place at DB either so he can compete to start somewhere down the line.
  5. Yeah - Even just as an active tackler that's what i'd like to see. If he can contribute 5+ sacks and lead the dline in tackles that'd be good.
  6. Or to ya know - take 2nd and 5 to 3rd and 2? Instead of 2nd and 5 to 3rd and 8.
  7. Yeah - guy has 10 rushing TDs and is 9th in the league in rushing at QB. He's also a pretty good passer.
  8. It just feels like every run to the outside is getting blown up. 2nd and 3 becomes 3rd and 7 etc. They can't be THAT slow - hell, arian foster was slow and he made his money on outside zone. Whatever is happening on the backside isn't working. They're also running into like heavy fronts with guys all over the LOS. I don't think you can run inside zone with 2 LBs in the a-gaps - you should want to get outside since the linebackers are inside, and yet they always seem to end up in our backfield.
  9. Its a hard position to project - and there are plenty of stories of players breaking out as pass rushers well passed their rookie contracts. Hand usage and technique are big, but understanding your role as the 1/11 and how to manipulate the QB and the pocket... there's a lot to learn there.
  10. I think the patriots defensive demise is what was exaggerated. They lost Chung and Hightower to covid opt outs, Collins Shelton Van Noy and Roberts to FA. Basically all their linebackers, a DT and the starting strong safety. They're currently 11th in points and 13th in yards. Last year they were 1st in both and 2nd in takeaways, this year they're 3rd in takeaways. The Miami defense that everyone loves is 5th in points, 19th in yards and also 3rd in takeaways. Very similar teams in a lot of ways Cam didn't even play in the chiefs game.
  11. I like his hands and his drive. Both make him a good fit on this defense. He doesn't have as much of a raw athleticism of murphy - but i think he can be a better player. I can't stand murphy sometimes. Epenesa almost forced a fumble sticking with a play when he rushed from the opposite side. Murphy was trotting and epenesa (a slower player) ran right past him. The play isn't over! Get on your horse! Can it be for murphy?
  12. Its a week to week league. Even the Jets have started looking more competent.
  13. Late bye is kinda nice too since the team is absolutely banged up. Getting milano and even dodson back will help. Kleins starting to play more physical, edmunds has been playing more aggressive as well. Maybe we'll have our starting secondary out there for a snap this season. Linemen are basically always banged up during the season too so a week off might be nice for them.
  14. They'll trade him, but i think ultimately thats where he wants to go. I'm sure they wouldnt move in division, and probably out of conference so the teams are likely - SF, Chi, wash, NO if they can figure out their cap,
  15. I'm more inclined to figure out why we've sucked at running the ball for 3 years under daboll. It can't just be the backs, is it the plays? The line? etc.
  16. I know he hasn't had as good of a season as last year - but he's 1 year removed from DPOY and the team doesn't need cap space or anything. Whats the reasoning behind trading him?
  17. I'm thinking San Francisco.
  18. I have to agree. His single cut style is better suited to the offensive line's play currently, he can also run through some of the arm tackles a bit more. Singletary is someone you want in 1x1s in space... right now we aren't getting those. Teams aren't playing as much man coverage, and they're crowding the LOS. In man coverage vs. a LB, i love a swing pass to singletary because i think he can either get the edge or force the LB to miss. With guys swarming the LOS, one cut styles will work better since you want to try and attack the 2nd level with speed.
  19. Pressure is probably more important than sacks. Sacks are great, but a fair amount of the time its from coverage, the QB holding the ball etc. Hell, half of phillips sacks last year were a result of hughes and lawson more than anything phillips did.
  20. I'm not saying you need to release brown. I'm just saying - don't gut an entire unit and elevate young players who haven't earned their time. Murphys already gone, Butler is definitely overpaid. Zimmer is already getting time, and epenesa is/was starting to (not sure on his injury in the cards game). But hughes? He's legit one of the players playing well on the defense. And while addison hasn't exactly lit it up, he's leading the team in sacks and TFLs. Jeffersons stats are relatively in line with what he's done in his career so far. You can't just "get young" if it results in getting bad.
  21. Are we in cap trouble? We don't even know what the cap is for next year. And if its as low as some suspect, we aren't in nearly as bad a spot as other teams. Also - if cap is super low, free agents will get massively underpaid - especially non-cap casualties since picks will be even more of a premium. If space is needed - you can release: John Brown - 8ish million savings Butler - almost 7 million savings Smith - 2 1/4 savings Losing those 3 players would save almost 20 million.
  22. They played a cupcake schedule last year - I don't think phillips was going to help stop the run (he was always out of position), and Shaq always struggled with scrambling QBs (Buffalo has played - Murray, Mahomes, Tannehill, Wilson, Newton, even fitz). Spain was not a good run blocker - and they didn't let him walk. He was outplayed and lost his job. Seemed to like what they saw from that group with morse out - but i think he starts out of the bye because they sucked again against zona. I think the defense as a whole has taken a step backward - but i don't think that its as drastic a step.
  23. Are we trying to make the defense bad?
  24. He's under contract for about the same 9.5 million for 2021. I don't see letting the longest tenured player leave when he's been productive this season.
