Is The Answer @ DE Already On The Team?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
See in today's nfl I don't know that you need those guys. Players on both lines have become more athletic, and those that are 1Ts tend to be quicker than they used to be. Even pure nose tackles like brandon williams are sub-350 and deceptively athletic. -

I know you'd probably get the magazine at that monthly. But who reads magazines? By the time its delivered thats not even a hot topic anymore. The athletic is more of what i think people want nowadays - regular real-time content around your specific teams. -
I'd say he was overpaid. Of the signings on the definsive line though I'd say he had the greatest impact. As for Atkins - im not going to lie and say ive watched the bengals play at all. Could be mis-cast in the defense, obviously 2020 was an injury wash year. Played for years with thomas too, and vegas has a bit of a need for leadership and a center fielder. He certainly has the size for the position.

Atkins was injured all year - but 2 years ago he had 10 sacks. He's also traditionally had good tackle numbers. And he played in 16 games in 6 consecutive years before this one (not injury prone). I don't know the extent of the shoulder injury or anything, but i doubt his explosiveness was sapped in 1 season. This would have to be dependent on his price. Suh got 1yr 8 million with escalators, after 1yr 9.25 and only 2 sacks. In this lowered cap season - Jefferson and butler wouldn't get the 7-8mil per year that they got... so i guess it depends the direction they want to go with the position. I think Atkins will get scooped up rather early by a team who wants a vet on the line but thats just me. Part of me thinks he would be a great player to split snaps with oliver, but it would come down to price.

Even weirder - the game chicago scored 41 points - Chicago had 11 first downs, 190 yards, and a turnover. Buffalo was 1-2 in games where the opponent had fewer than 200 yards, also losing to Miami 21-17 (charles clay drop in the end zone). In that one, mckenzie muffed a punt that resulted in 7 and buffalo had 130 yards in penalties. Both TD drives were assisted by penalties.

Alex Smith. Culpepper. Brees was available at one time. Cassel. Cutler. Palmer. Foles. Bradford. Jimmy g. Tannehill. I didn't think anyone would give up 2 1sts for Stafford either. Honestly he'd be a good fit with New Orleans. But they arent trading picks - they're so cap screwed they need their picks.

No. Thats way too much for a LB who would still cost about 10M per year (and isn't a pro bowler or all-pro). Atlanta gets no cap savings trading him this year either. -
Easy to do in a dome - now try that in buffalo in january. Russel Wilson had like 30 TDs at the midway point this year and a lot of them were like that. Then weather turns a bit and it becomes more challenging to chuck the ball 40 yards accurately without a bit of heat behind the ball. I'd like to see him continue to develop his fakes. He's shown the shoulder fake, and some head fakes - but thats what makes mahomes so dirty against zone. He whooped edmunds on fakes in the middle and there's nothing you can do - if he can buy time and manipulate the LBs and safeties he's basically unstoppable. He's massively improved on pre-snap reads and adjustments, but there's still work to be done there as well.

You don't save any money then. The replacement costs 600k. I mean... the oline was bad at run blocking. I don't think moss and singletary did enough with the openings that were there either - but i wouldnt give a pass to the oline either. Spain switched sides and sucked, then got cut and Winters sucked. Ford switched positions again, then got hurt. Boettger was meh. Feliciano and morse don't impress me either. Essentially the entire interior of the line was a mess.

He's a good, even great player at times. But with Allens extension looming - and UFAs all over the offensive line (a unit that needs upgrading), it may just be poor timing. The reduced cap will hit free agents hard, but if hes considered a difference maker by a team - he will still command in the 12-15 per year range. 15M would put him as the 3rd highest AAV hit among ILBs.

If Jimmy G isn't having particularly successful seasons when healthy - in the shanahan/kubiak offense (run and heavy PA). I don't personally believe he is any good. He's pretty much 30 years old, and has 1 full season - and no true success. With the rams making the move for stafford, seattle being seattle, and arizona being solidly in that 7-10 win range - you have to figure out QB. He might be good enough to get it done, but he might be bad enough to finish 4th.
