  1. he understands that... singletary was significantly more effective so the team gave him carries? I mean that's fairly obvious from stats, eye test, etc.
  2. There should be some options next season to bring in for allen competition if this season doesn't go well. Newton, Winston, Dalton should all be available again. Lawrence likely gets drafted somewhere to start immediately so that could add another decent guy to the mix. I agree though - its a much better looking destination when the pieces are in place for you. These guys look at what tannehill just got after signing as a backup and earning the starting spot.
  3. Considering how infrequently they even use a fullback (mostly seems to be short yardage - 15ish% of total snap counts) - the special teams aspect should be the biggest portion of this players game.
  4. I think the team's achilles heel at the moment is the inability to really step on the the gas when they're up. It bit buffalo in a couple of games as the defense wasn't able to hold up. The playoff loss, the losses to NE and CLE, near losses to cincy/miami. I don't even really know what it is. Sometimes playcalling got cute and they'd do dumb stuff, sometimes it was drops/turnovers, and sometimes it was just poor execution. A sack is a drive killer, a penalty is a drive killer, etc. The identity needs to be there for this to happen. I think moss can be a big part of helping close out games. Get that 7-10 point lead and hammer them with moss and play action. The goal is to win, and you want to mitigate risk to make that happen, but playing too risk averse can cost you as well.
  5. Right. Could've called Dalton's agent and felt him out - no idea. I doubt they wanted keenum/mariota at that cost.
  6. Gotta remember free agency is a 2 way street. Winston struck out and signed somewhere where he thought he could help re-establish value under brees/payton. Dalton probably wants to be in texas. Keenum got 18 million. Flacco can't suit up til September and he looked terrible last year. Foles was traded. Kyle Allen went to Rivera where he thinks he has a shot to start. Hoyer went to NE for a chance to start. Cam went to NE for a chance to start.
  7. The Kelce extension doesn't initiate for 2 years since hes still under contract. Most of the otehr deals are like that too. But they'll have to do some maneuvering down the line.
  8. I mean.. Kelce is 4x 1st or 2nd team all-pro. Dawson knox dropped like 11 passes last year. Hes looking at tyler eifert money currently unless he takes MASSIVE steps forward.
  9. 3rd and 2 and we were running QB sweeps. Thats how much he trusted/wanted to use gore.
  10. I don't think you're always going to kick a 50+ yarder. But if its 3 seconds before halftime and we're on the 35 yard line, he's probably going to miss it. Less than 50% over 2 seasons and was 1/5 in 2019. 21st in FG accuracy, 18th in XPs, 26th in TB%, and better than like 4 guys at 50+ because they didn't make any of them. I'm at least giving the kid a chance. Honestly i wonder how much having no/reduced fans at games will help kickers. Pressure is the same, but you aren't in like this crazy loud stadium of people trying to get you to miss.
  11. My favorite moorman moment was when he did that in the pro bowl and got annhilated by sean taylor. Then popped right up and gave him a butt slap.
  12. Plus FA's get overpaid Conklin for 14 million - Whitworth for 10 at age 38. Hell the Jets gave Fant 10 AAV and i don't even think he's very good.
  13. Cutting murphy saves you 8 mil (minus whatever johnson/cox/love makes). Cutting Hauschka saves 1.75 minus bass salary. Roberts saves you 1.5 minus mckenzie. Yeldon could save you 1.75 too. Smith and Dimarco could save some change. Add it all up and its close to what you probably pay milano, leaving you more space to secure white.
  14. No, it'll hit next year. Its only a 1 year rollover anyway so it doesnt matter.
  15. Lewan signed in 2018 for 5/80 at 16 per year. Matthews 5/72.5 for 14.5 a year. Tunsil 3/66 for 22 per year, Armstead 2016 for 5 and 65. Solder 2018 4/62 15.5 per. Bakhtiari 2016 4/48 12 per. So It's in line with the top level guys at the position - similar to what DJ humphries signed for, slightly less than a couple of others - but several of these guys will get that jump into the tunsil territory in the next 2 years. Bakhtiari and Villanueva will get big paydays next year at least. Other guys like Armstead, Reiff, and fisher are likely 2022 bumps.
  16. Its up there - but a lot of the top tier guys are in later years of their deals.
  17. I mean - i guess. Except RPOs can only be run out of shotgun since you can't make a read with your back turned to the field. You also can run PA deep since your linemen won't be caught downfield. You can have more receivers running routes since you aren't limited to reading a single player post snap. If you want you can mess with timing on RPO routes by jamming at the line and forcing them off their spot.
  18. 2 vet corners vs. harry and sanu outside is also a really bad matchup for them. Edelman is always a tough man draw, but none of these guys have speed - and RPOs over the middle require some short area timing that you can interrupt with press coverage.
  19. Basically an RPO, everyone run blocks, and there's usually like 1, max 2 routes on the same side of the field. If you read maybe cover 2 zone, your slant WR may be open since the LB filled the run gaps. But if you think its cover 2 zone, and it ends up being man or something - there's a post-snap read that you have to make very quickly to decide if you're throwing the slant or handing it off. It's a simple post-snap read, but it has to be made super quickly. You can counter it by playing tight coverage, and their lack of downfield speed and good safety coverage makes it hard for this to be super effective.
  20. It's all about discipline, and deceptive pre-snap looks. If a pre-snap look makes you think your TE will be open if edmunds fills his run gap, you may throw that pass based off of edmunds filling said gap. But what the other players on the defense do can create problems there.
  21. Yeah - Big factor is how little a player makes on the practice squad vs. what they would make on another teams 53. Minimum is 8400 per week for about 142k per year. A UDFA with a roster spot earns about 600K in 2020. They also get a guaranteed 3 weeks on the 53, plus pay at that level. So 3 weeks at 35K per week (assuming league minimum salary). Even if you end up on a PS you just made 105K in 3 weeks when you would've earned 25k. There are only so many roster spots available - poaching off of other peoples PS is relatively common, but lets not act like these aren't guys that are bouncing around between 53's and PS's.
  22. Probably more likely with chytil and kakko tbh. Buchnevich is pretty solid on the line with panarin and zibanejed. Or kakko plays up top with them and buchnevich maybe with the other 2.
  23. Kakko put up 10G and 23 points... What can you really expect from another 18 year old? 40ish points? Maybe?
