  1. Running schemes are fine - but they're like a brees passing attack. One holding penalty - one play getting stuffed - mis-read, etc. and the drive now requires more of a conventional 3rd and long conversion.
  2. If they get home it could pose problems - blitz/man is there for turnovers.
  3. Easier said than done.
  4. Yeldon. 12 career carries? In garbage time of a blowout week 17 game?
  5. I agree here - makes it easier to get your playcalls in, and your hard counts are much more effective. But a lot of the pre/post snap stuff isn't really affected by noise imo.
  6. Yeah - when they played KC they had edmunds play the pass on almost every run play. It resulted in getting shredded in the run game since reid just trusted mahomes to run RPOs and make the right call. Denver and NE had good running games, but athletic QBs factored into both of those totals - same with titans and cardinals. I think the defense is a tad different than it was early in the year. Edmunds and Milano are healthy, klein has been bringing that edge. As a unit the entire group has started to come together in the back half of the year. The thing with a run heavy offense is - if you get blown up once, or get one holding penalty... you are now forced to pass and play action becomes less effective. If you aren't good enough to do these things you will struggle.
  7. Should buffalo get past Indy, I think they're going to blitz the hell out of buffalo and go for turnovers. Buffalo seems to have improved against it, but they'll have some weird man zone stuff to try and bait allen into throws. It'll be interesting.
  8. Eh, i could see him taking an elway job. I'm in charge, but not in charge?
  9. I might throw some odd blitz looks there too. But yeah, this makes the most sense.
  10. Tough schedule made it seem like 9 or 10 would be enough to win the division pre-season.
  11. I'd think yes - offense is better for fans. I wonder how much the offensive improvement might also be attributed to lack of fans. I feel like false starts are down as well as Offside being up.
  12. Definitely felt like holding was down across the board this year. Usually the refs go flag crazy in the preseason to reinforce any changes, but with no preseason i think the directive was get the flag numbers down.
  13. So far he signed a HOF QB and squeezed all he could out of him. So I'm surprised he didn't go after rivers/brady (or maybe they felt there wasn't enough there to win it in a year or two). If Rivers retires, it makes too much sense for Reich to go after Wentz - but that could be an option. They may also consider Jimmy G, or Darnold. There's also veteran wildcards like Ryan and Stafford where everyones like... noooo they wouldnt do that. But new coach/GMs might see it as teardown time. GM might want a young QB, but Elway seems to always be a win now guy.
  14. I'd assume... people who live there?
  15. Skipped over Allen for Chubb - but even this offseason too. Couldn't or didn't make an offer work with brady. Winston and Dalton got paid pennies and they showed no interest. You just gave the keys to Lock without letting him earn anything.
  16. His drafting resume at QB: Osweiler in the 2nd Dysert in the 7th Siemien in the 7th Lynch in the 1st Kelly in the 7th Lock in the 2nd Free agent QB resume: Manning for 4 years Case Keenum for 2 years 36M - Traded with a 7th for a 6th after 1 year. Was an overpay for sure, but he may have been the 2nd best QB to suit up for denver in Elways tenure. Flacco - Traded a 4th for Flacco, paid him like 20 million, and he was totally washed. So about 40 million over 2 years for keenum and flacco...
  17. The hole for the one TD was so massive I feel any running back could have scored.
  18. Sure - but the offense was 9th in yards and 18th in scoring. They couldn't run the ball (Bottom 5 in YPC), so they'd pass as an extension of the run. They also were a full yard per play behind KC. Even with mahomes contract I'd take him over Herbert every time. He elevates the players around him, Herbert's numbers suggest the opposite.
  19. Just going the ozzie newsome route and doing less day to day. But like newsome, i expect elway to continue to be involved in football decisions in some capacity.
  20. Air yards isn't indicative of success as an offense - look at ben and brees this year, they were both very low and had successful offenses. Just saying - he threw a ton behind the LOS and within 5-10 yards. A lot of teams do this, he did it more than most. You won't put up Mahomes numbers playing that way either.
  21. He didn't play at all as a rookie. Just saying - almost 2/3 of Herberts targets had an average depth of target shorter than 8 yards. His intended air yards per attempt was 7.
  22. I was a big mckenzie proponent all offseason and everyone expected him to be cut, so its nice to see someone else notice him 😄. He showed some talent with the gadget plays, but he's a lot tougher and generally a better WR than people give him credit for. TD pass, 5 TD catches, and a PR TD on like 40 total touches. I like roberts as a returner, but if I can only keep one I'd roll with Mckenzie.
  23. Someone posted it on twitter but on that play, at the snap, miami had 11 players within 5 yards of the LOS. Running it there is basically just kneeling it.
