The chiefs are 15x better than everyone else
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Teddy KGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They have some solid player free agents, and likely not very much cap space - so it'll be penny squeezing for them. But they aren't players that are irreplaceable Watkins - always hurt Okafor - 3 sacks as a reserve DE Sorensen - Starting safety next to mathieu Breeland - Starting corner Reiter - Starting Center Remmers - Right tackle So their roster depth all around will likely be tested. -
32 rush yards from our running backs
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah - i mean... Hunt isn't fast. Kamara isn't notably fast. Connor isn't fast. Drake ran a fast 40, but play speed he doesn't seem fast. I'm not sure its all on the backs, or their speed. There just isn't any juice to the running game. We play like 80 percent of the game from shotgun for pass protection, and then when we go from under center we run the ball on like 75% of the snaps - not really very deceptive there. Also, the team isn't very good at run blocking. -
I think he's terrible, but hes working in media at the moment. There's usually more money there - and he'll never be a head coach again.

Eagles hiring Nick Sirianni as HC

I assume he's the heir apparent for when Belichick moves upstairs to VP/GM role. Belichick probably gave him a timeline if i had to guess. -
3rd and long Defense
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to kirkwoodus13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cover 2 is usually preferred in third and long. 2 backers and NB inside and 2 CBs on the boundaries. But its a read play - sometimes the boundary guys play deep and it fleshes out more like quarters. the olb and nb then cover the boundaries. You can both limit big plays and underneath depending on the route concept. And there's nothing you can do pre-snap to flesh out what the corners do - it happens as the play is happening. You can also position the nickel and LBs on the LOS to give a blitz look, and then rotate into a complete cover 2 look. At the same time - buffalo might be forced to play a bit more man in this one. QBs who can buy time effectively are nightmares for a zone defense. -
Steelers signing Dwayne Haskins

My guess is he's getting the league minimum and its offset against his rookie deal. So he isn't making a dollar more than he did before. -

It's not necessarily "owed"... they already paid it out. So if you look here (https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints/drew-brees-4542/) - everything to the right of base salary he already has. None of it is a roster bonus, or workout bonus - it was fully guaranteed. They've been doing restructures for years essentially betting on an increasing cap. The highest paid WR for 5 years is like the 15th highest paid 5 years later etc. The eagles are probably just as screwed, and they don't have anything of value to trade like the saints. The saints could move any of the following players (who have value and would net solid picks/players in return) and gain cap savings: Lattimore, Armstead, Sanders, and Ramczyk. They can also extend and lower cap hits for some players, and designate some post-june cuts to split cap hits. In any case, they'll look a lot different next year - and they are going to need a lot of draft picks in 2021/2022 to contribute.
-
That would be around 180M. Spotrac had been using the agreed upon floor of like 175M. It's not a good time to be a free agent though. Top end guys will still get theirs, but the middle tier and below are about to get lowballed - i also see middle level talent signing extensions to stay where they are. Example: John brown - Cap hit 9.5m, dead cap 1.6. He won't get 8M on the open market. So instead, you drop his salary to like 1M for 2021, and partially guarantee a year in 2022 with a signing bonus and roster bonus. Gets his cap hit down to something like 3M, and he doesn't lose a game of musical chairs and end up signing a 1 year deal for like 1M which can tank his value.

I look at the teams near the top of the league in rushing - and they are either propped up by a mobile QB (baltimore, arizona, NE), or they run a variation of Kubiaks outside zone scheme (Titans, Browns, Vikings, Packers, 49ers in 2019). We are propped up by a mobile QB, and we don't run an outside zone scheme- majority of snaps come out of shotgun.

Weather is the Bills kryptonite....

Here's my thoughts on a dome... They played football in middle school and high school... outdoors. They played football in college - most likely outdoors (at least likely the majority of games). Why do they move to all indoor games in the pros? It's an outdoor game, its played in the fall and winter, and the fans tend to like that weather aspect of it. -
Weather is the Bills kryptonite....
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As much as the weather was a factor - the game flow in the 2nd half was very strange. Buffalo drove down and scored to go up 7 - ran almost 6 minutes off the clock. Baltimore drove down and threw a pick 6 to go down 14 - but also ran almost 9 minutes off the clock. Buffalo then got the ball at the start of the 4th quarter and ran another 5 minutes off the clock. They ended up punting as they were in a poor down and distance in baltimore territory - but up 14. The 1st and 2nd down calls had nothing to do with wind - the QB sweep was snuffed out and the mckenzie pass didn't work. Next possession they were in FG territory and tried to run clock. But this is a successful possession in a 2 score game - no points, 5 minutes off the clock, pinned them at the 10. If baltimore had scored on any of their 2nd half possessions i think buffalo's offense is opened up a bit more. But they didn't -
His value goes up because of the contract honestly. 5 years 146.5 for a new team acquiring him - and his cap hit is low for 2021 when the cap is likely at its lowest. It's not cheap but if he's a top 5-10 QB its actually pretty good. I'd say play hard-ball - but good luck getting free agents to sign with your team when you basically are holding a pro-bowler hostage during the prime of his career. If I'm the owner, i sit down with him and figure out what it takes to keep him here.
