What was your worst take ever?

EJ Manuel. I thought he was going to be a solid starter. -
53 Man Roster: Way Too Early
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At tight end I didn't carry 4 because of PS and Gilliam playing teams. At lb I could see keeping smith and dropping a corner to PS. Depends how much they like Obada, and whether 9 is enough on the line with position flex. -

Yeah, i could see jones being dropped for him. Especially with the late round DBs that probably play special teams. If they do the PS call-ups again you can just carry a back on there all year and plug them in should you have injuries. Could also see a dlineman dropped for a free agent TE on this roster projection. 3 just seems like too few, even with 1 or 2 on the PS. If they add a corner then wildgoose may head to the PS as well. -
I know bates wants to play center. Assuming the 5 of Dawkins-Mongo-Morse-Ford-Williams - that leaves 4-5 spots for Brown, Doyle, Lamp, Douglas, Boettger, Bates, Hart, and Anderson. I'd assume hart is gone if they drafted 2 OT's. Lamp seems like a good bet for a backup guard. Bates can play center which no one else can. So brown and doyle are backup tackles - extra linemen in short yardage. One is inactive on gameday Lamp is backup guard on gameday. Bates is backup center on gamedays. That leaves maybe 1 spot for douglas, boettger, hart, and anderson. Anderson probably heads to the PS. My guess would be douglas or boettger.

53 Man Roster: Way Too Early

This is what i came up with. A little thin at TE, but Sweeney just missed a season and i don't see why i'd need to bring him back. I could see them bringing in another vet there. Kept jones unless a wildgoose or hamlin can replace him. In which case that gives you a spot at TE or WR for a stevenson type. -
While I'll agree his content isn't as quality, i do think the guy watches a ton of film on players, and isn't afraid to be wrong. Someone praised him about the picks in 2018, but he was quick to remind them of his Jimmy Clausen pick. I respect it

All you can grade now is based off of big boards. If you felt like you got players off the board who help immediately, or were largely valued more than where you picked - i guess you consider that a win.

1. Chiefs 2. Browns 3. Bills
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just think there is definitely some improvement to be had there. I'm not totally set on clowney as an upgrade over vernon either. They did well to grab a couple of rookies who can probably contribute right away though, and the offense should be better with beckham. If they can't overtake baltimore though, the roads a bit tougher to start the playoffs on the road. -

I think my concern with crowning the browns is that they went 2-3 against pitt and baltimore, and the 1 win was against rudolph and the other had a bit of a flukey start to give them some really good field position and points. Good (not great) offense (14th in points, 16th in yards), but a great rushing attack. Defense was 21st in points and 17th in yards - they drafted here and added clowney so there's definitely some room to improve a bit. 2-0 against cincy 4-0 against the NFCE L to the jets L to the raiders The biggest win on their schedule was probably Tennessee, but they also beat Indy. 7-2 in 1 score games. Their offense is probably good for them to win some of these, as mayfield cut down on turnovers and they play more ball control. But these were 1 score games that included Cincyx2, Houston, Philly, jax, the jete, and steelers backups week 17. I think they can push for the division lead here, but any of baltimore/pitt/cleveland can win that division. NFCE vs NFCN is a big difference, and they play the AFCW - plus NE and Houston. -
They don't. Teams with fewer picks were dinged with the bottom 3 being the rams, seattle, and houston. Also ignored is the fact that chicago lost a 1st round pick to acquire the player that is giving them such a high mark. So...

OldTimer's Draft Ramblings
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to OldTimer1960's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think with limiting what you can bring to rookie minicamps, it may have been somewhat beneficial to add a round or 2 to the end of the draft. Randomize the order of the rounds, and no trades. Just so teams can grab a couple of extra bodies. -
So, what's the plan at RB?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the scheme wasn't as good a fit for singletary. He's going to need reps to get better on the outside zone stuff if that's what buffalo is trying to run. But generally the offensive line isn't good at it so I'm not sure why we ran it so much. Breida is an interesting case - he's always a change of pace guy as he's somewhat undersized, but he brings some speed to the position. I won't fully ignore miami's failure to utilize him at all, but they have a pretty poor offensive line. He also had 2 fumbles in under 70 touches - which tends to put you in the dog house. -

I hope between the new tackle (for tackle eligible plays), and some increased competition at guard/center (lamp, douglas, healthy ford) that there is a better plan for short yardage than QB sweeps. They don't work that well and allen tends to have ball security issues on designed runs more than QB scrambles. Running the ball more effectively in general is important, and its clear that they struggle to get into a rhythm when they are in a pass heavy game. While some of the linemen offer superior pass protection skills, its clearly not been a major upgrade in the run game. Williams, Boettger, Morse all were not good enough as run blockers and it was usually backside players who were blowing up runs to the opposite side. Same goes with the tight ends - they need to get those backside ends and linebackers slowed down enough so that they can't come in and break up zone rushes. Its the big difference between a loss/no gain, and 5 plus. Moss is built well for a zone rushing attack as he has the juice to turn 3 into 5, and he's a solid 1 cut runner with enough speed. Singletary seems more likely a better fit for a power style of attack where he's more heads up into tacklers and can dance a bit more. Morse and the guards in 2019 had some solid execution on these plays with singletary as its a bit more of a block your man situation - pulling players know who to block etc. -
Playing time is earned not given. To me Johnson has long odds. Obada isn't guaranteed anything, could be a trade candidate since he was cheap. Addison restructured, is clearly a team guy. But if he's hitting the wall, he doesn't need to be hitting it here. One of those 3 makes the 53, and probably is inactive as the season goes on.

The Bills' DE Lottery Tickets
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obada got 800k guaranteed and 1.5 total. To me he's long odds to make the roster. It's basically him and Addison with one spot. My money's on Addison for another year. Johnsons special teams contributions probably aren't enough, maybe he can hit the PS. I don't remember the rules there. -
I think not having the 4th hurts in a trade up scenario. The 2 5ths only likely push you up like 5-7 picks max. I'm for it. Current depth chart Tackle: Dawkins, Williams, Hart Guard: Ford, Feliciano, Boettger, Lamp, Douglas, Center: Morse, Bates There's definitely a need to infuse some younger talent in there. DB i think there's opportunity to bring in someone opposite Tre, but also someone to play big nickel against some of the more TE heavy rosters we'll be facing. I think the DT rotation could be upgraded too. Same with TE. So i'd put the needs at in some order: T, G/C, CB, DT, TE, S with 6 picks left. The last 4 are 5th rounders or later so unlikely to be major contributors in year 1. I think a CB, S, or DT would see the field more than the other positions so that's probably where I'd aim my next 2 picks assuming the value is appropriate. I wouldn't be mad though if a solidly graded offensive lineman falls, i don't think anyone between the Tackles is guaranteed anything.
