  1. jeeze - was getting blown out on an away game not enough? salt in the wound!
  2. They're a year removed from being top 5 as well. The players don't interview though...
  3. A lot of the times its because they keep moving districts imo. Comparing historical data is challenging when the data is covering districts that don't exist in the same way.
  4. Sometimes its coverage mistakes by the linebackers, but you're willing to give up small chunks because at the end of the day your goal is stopping them on 3rd downs and in RZ. One defensive play, or drop, or bad throw (there were all of these in this game against indy) and it stalls a drive. They missed a FG, got stopped on a 4th and punted twice in buffalo territory. Probably a little more bending than they'd like, but they didn't break either.
  5. They tend to run things like palms quarters coverage. If they're over the middle the safeties would move in and the corners bail and play it like quarters, if there are short boundary routes the corners sit on them and the middle of the field is more open.
  6. I mean - reliance upon polling data and trends is always a challenge. Certain polls traditionally are right - but you're still extrapolating a ton of data from a small sample size. The high number of absentee and mail-in ballots in general made this an incredibly hard election to project.
  7. I'd like a big nickel safety too - but the idea there is that you can keep him out there in 11 personnel and feel like you are OK in coverage and OK against the run. Not usually matching up with a TE.
  8. Lots of zone. There are soft spots in zones. In cover 2 its between the safeties, in cover 3 and cover 4 its usually nearer to the hash marks. This is usually where TEs run their routes.
  9. Humiliated is probably the wrong word here. If Bass makes the long FG before half its tied. There was a RZ 4th and 1 where KC scored, a stop there and its a whole new game. Had a 3rd and 1 on the next drive stuffed. 23-17 with 6 minutes left.. 3rd and 12 to pringle for like 37 yards was the killer too. Even if you just flip that play and its incomplete - they punt to allen up 6 with 4 minutes left.
  10. Steelers were better than the browns - didn't work out so well yesterday.
  11. How is this a nightmare scenario? You do have to beat some good teams to win a super bowl. KC is the one who's feeling pretty good I think. They get the team with the weakest offense, and weakest defense remaining in the playoffs.
  12. Good DBs, some good pass rushers - they played a soft schedule, but they are a capable group for sure. I think buffalo is going to spread this team out quite a bit to identify where the extra rushers are coming from. Using a 4th WR forces them out of packages that i think they're comfortable in - and you can move davis in as a TE if you want to roll with more of a max protect.
  13. Roberts took one out, but another i believe was kicked short and had an awkward bounce. They also had some pretty good punts in that area. Essentially they moved the ball to midfield on every one of their non-scoring drives and punted. The other was the 4th and goal. It was on a kickoff though and close to the sideline - you don't touch it because there is a chance it bounces out of bounds. That one had some sort of miracle bounce where it just died.
  14. Running schemes are fine - but they're like a brees passing attack. One holding penalty - one play getting stuffed - mis-read, etc. and the drive now requires more of a conventional 3rd and long conversion.
  15. If they get home it could pose problems - blitz/man is there for turnovers.
  16. Yeldon. 12 career carries? In garbage time of a blowout week 17 game?
  17. I agree here - makes it easier to get your playcalls in, and your hard counts are much more effective. But a lot of the pre/post snap stuff isn't really affected by noise imo.
  18. Yeah - when they played KC they had edmunds play the pass on almost every run play. It resulted in getting shredded in the run game since reid just trusted mahomes to run RPOs and make the right call. Denver and NE had good running games, but athletic QBs factored into both of those totals - same with titans and cardinals. I think the defense is a tad different than it was early in the year. Edmunds and Milano are healthy, klein has been bringing that edge. As a unit the entire group has started to come together in the back half of the year. The thing with a run heavy offense is - if you get blown up once, or get one holding penalty... you are now forced to pass and play action becomes less effective. If you aren't good enough to do these things you will struggle.
  19. Should buffalo get past Indy, I think they're going to blitz the hell out of buffalo and go for turnovers. Buffalo seems to have improved against it, but they'll have some weird man zone stuff to try and bait allen into throws. It'll be interesting.
  20. I might throw some odd blitz looks there too. But yeah, this makes the most sense.
  21. Tough schedule made it seem like 9 or 10 would be enough to win the division pre-season.
  22. I'd think yes - offense is better for fans. I wonder how much the offensive improvement might also be attributed to lack of fans. I feel like false starts are down as well as Offside being up.
