  1. ehhhh doubtful. Lost - Thuney, Brooks Gained - Judon, Smith, Mills, Agholor, Godchzux, Bourne, Anderson Of their remaining free agents - maybe white and andrews? Most wont make enough to qualify
  2. Jonnu Smith is good too. I don't think he's played his best football either. But at the same token - I don't look at him as someone who you have to truly adjust your entire gameplan for. I think Geisicki is a better player tbh. Smith is fast and athletic, and can highpoint a ball with the best of them - red zone weapon for sure. You have to remember - Buffalo will never get respect. It's all luck and smoke and mirrors. They won some tight games early, beat the hell out of some other teams. But they lost on a hail mary - and the chiefs "have their number". So going 13-3, and winning 15 games isn't impressive to them. They'll remember what they want that fits the agenda.
  3. Honestly their D needed improvements at LB and up the middle the most. Getting hightower back, and adding godchaux up the middle should help with the leaky run defense.
  4. What do you think patriots fans have been saying about buffalo for 20 years?
  5. Agreed. As a football player you need to be above using your hands (or single foot) in any types of confrontation. He was clearly intoxicated - so was everyone in that video. He claims she called him a slur, she claims something else. In any case - totally avoidable. At the same time... Nothing in that video to me said anyone should go to jail or even be charged with anything. This was not domestic violence, it was a confrontation between relative strangers. The suspension/release was a pretty steep punishment imo. Winston got 3 games for groping an uber driver. As for the whether he fits with buffalo? They still have dodson who did a 6 game suspension for a domestic violence suspension on the disorderly conduct plea deal from his incident.
  6. We ran more under center than out of shotgun last year. Which to me is a bit of a tell. If its 60/40 pass out of shotgun, and 60/40 run from under center - thats a bit of a tell.
  7. We use the slot WR for a lot of the same route concepts. I think Knox needs to be more effective as a blocker to see the field more.
  8. They did though. Although i felt like wind had a lot of influence in that game (4 missed FGs). The defense didn't have an answer, so i think knowing that - the next time they play you have to have a better adjustment plan. Be it blitzing, more man, combination of both etc. Offensively, there was some poor execution on 3rd downs/red zone - blocking, but also by Allen. The entire 4 play sequence before halftime ending in a FG was a game killer. The other FG drive was a poor ending as well. The offense didn't do enough to keep the pressure on, and the defense couldn't get a stop on 3rd down.
  9. Gilmore was before Beane. We didn't exactly have replacements for Lawson and Phillips at the time either. If you had drafted other ends/tackles for the rotation you might not sign anyone, but Buffalo had spent a lot of draft capital on upgrading offensive line and QB.
  10. Well its usually players coming off rookie contracts who are getting paid in free agency. Since they have been here they've only had 4 drafts... and they extended the 3 players from 2017. If anything its a product of poor drafting prior to their arrival. 1 player from 2016 draft was signed away (Ragland was traded for a 4th - more than the comp pick). 1 player was eligible in 2015 (maybe? i don't remember how much miller got paid, and they had already traded darby by this point). 2 players from 2014 in watkins and brown - watkins was traded. If they sat on darby and watkins maybe they get comp picks. They traded them both for considerably more value than comp picks. Between all these trades, there was considerable roster turnover. They've always drafted between 6-8 players every season. They made these moves in the same time to acquire picks: Teller + 7th for 5th and 6th in 2020 Bodine for a 6th in 2020 Zay Jones for a 5th in 2021 Glenn + 1st and 5th to move up in the 1st Tyrod for pick 65 Mccarron for 2019 5th Newhouse for 2021 draft pick At least 3 of those guys were almost guaranteed cut players.
  11. Beane tends to like going into the draft with positions filled. Even epenesa wasn't a guarantee since they had signed addison. There were thoughts of oline, dugger or chinn type big nickel, young pass rusher, etc. I want someone who can come in and contribute right away - preferably helping the run game
  12. Not wrong - at least buffalo is good. Hometown hero vibe for a swan song. 12 million tied up in brate and howard as well. I think they put howard out there as a cut candidate, but there's some sort of injury framework around 5th year options. So I believe that would make the contract guaranteed since he tore his achilles, and probably can't pass a physical. With barrett, david, godwin and others getting paid - somethings gotta give at TE. Brady probably wants Gronk more than anyone else, but 6 million is too much for a 3rd string TE. Then at the same time you have brate under contract 3 years, and howard is UFA after this year. It's an interesting position they are in.
  13. I don't look at him as a bad player, but he shouldn't be guaranteed a starting spot either. I'm partial to gronkowski, but rudolph might be a nice fit.
  14. WR 1 - Z - Flanker - Usually off LOS depends on personnel WR 2 - X - Split end - Usually on LOS, doesn't motion TE 1 - Y - On LOS - Same side WR 3 - Slot - Off LOS same side as X Target share is obviously dependent on scheme, but i think thats like the basics of 11 personnel. Obviously things change - i think davis lined up as z quite a bit. It's a bit more flexible now.
  15. He's going to get a lot of money. I don't see him as that type of player. He's also a bit of a diva - and he's not getting 150 targets here.
  16. Yeah - figure you get 2 more years and then you spread some bonus over the next 2. You can draft a replacement maybe in 2022, or sign someone.
  17. Yeah - it was a pre-pandemic restructure to get him on the 2020 team, and he opted out.
  18. Pandemic and limited salary cap this year. Brown and Jefferson don't factor in, if any rfas are non tendered I don't think they count either. So it's basically just Milano, Feliciano, and Williams. If they only target players who were cut they'd probably get some, but I doubt it. Basketball forces sign and trades. Hockey and baseball will see players dealt on expiring deals. The short non guaranteed nature of the contracts, frequency of injury, and lack of deadline activity tend to lead to lots of players changing teams. I think if u did away with them there would probably be more trades, but its so difficult to make an impact as a mid season addition.
  19. I don't think I can say I truly understand the nuances of the position. I think chemistry is a greater part than we might give it credit, and they struggled a lot to start the year with the truncated camp situation. This season in general was a bit more of a challenge too with officiating seeming to allow more holding - which benefits rushing as well as passing offenses. The ineligible man downfield rule also seems to be a bit less enforced than it was in the past, allowing more teams to effectively run RPOs (KC shredded us with these in the first meeting).
  20. A little bit more juice inside can help that run game a bit more. A good receiving tight end can help with blitzes quite a bit though. Create that mismatch that forces them out of their plan. Gronk would be my #1 target here.
  21. So the thoughts around morse are, feliciano starts. The only big question is - who starts at RG with him kicking inside, and you only have a few million to spend.
  22. WR isn't super top heavy, but coming off the injury year that Brown had, he may have trouble getting any term. He's likely looking at 1 yr deal outside of buffalo, and I'm not sure teams look at him as a better option than guys like Hilton Watkins and Perriman. Tack on an extension year and you can lower the base salary (7 mil) considerably, and keep him for 2 years at like 14 or something like that.
  23. Guy needs to help the running game as much as passing attack. So... whoever can help there. I'm open to it. He's a good blocker. Still a load to tackle, and size mismatch. With knox here too he'd definitely still see that lower snap count. But i see him just re-upping with Tampa for another run with Brady. They'll cut howard and make room for him.
  24. I think core special teamer was probably about as good a career as he's going to be able to have honestly. Fast players flame out all the time, you have to be able to do all the other parts of playing running back/WR that he'll probably never level up to. Players who dedicate to the craft of special teams though, can play for a few years.
