Xavier Worthy: So far, not much more than a gadget guy
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Andy Reid's chiefs in 2014 had 0 TD passes to WRs. From a WR development standpoint i don't know how much worse you can do 🙂 -
I think he made a valuable investment, and also somehow made his broadcasting job considerably easier. Don't have to go to practices or locker rooms. Gets out of lame production meetings. Just show up, rub elbows with the owners, and watch a game. He can probably have the raiders or NFL hire an assistant with him so he doesn't accidentally violate any of these, and help him with game prep.

I love traits as much as the next guy, and he had production in college. I do like what they got in keon specifically for josh though. Adding him and kincaid gave him traits guys in a different way - big bodies (punish defenders and break tackles as a way to create YAC), good hands (kincaids are massive, but both he and keon have plus hands - shakir also has big hands for his size), big catch radiuses (both have 32+ inch arm lengths, but its the ability to catch away from their bodies that is really impressive). -
Jackson is the MVP through 7 weeks. His current pace 4400 yards passing 1100 yards rushing 36 Passing TDs 5 Rushing TDs 5 INTs Allen current pace 3600 yards passing 435 yards rushing 29 Passing TDs 7 Rushing TDs 0 INTs If he were to continue to play at this level - it'd be a historic year. We know he won't, because in a multitude of ways its unsustainable - Players will get hurt, weather will get worse, and occasionally you just don't play well or another team has a good gameplan. But right now that is an insane pace. Allen's stats are good, but 3 games under 200 yards passing - Miami game flow is one thing, but those baltimore and houston games look terrible when you're projecting 7 games across 17. Fun fact - the ravens have the highest YPC average with Henry, and the 2nd highest ypc average with lamar. 200+ carries at 6 yards per clip. Also... fairly unsustainable.

If Brian Daboll gets fired, would you take him as OC?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Doc's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well the issue i always see is, what makes mahomes and allen so dynamic is their ability to create time and space with their arm. Athletic enough to create space behind the LOS as much as hurt you with a scramble. Jones always just took off running - while also getting sacked a good 8-10% of the time. The throws down the field from out of structure never came. They have sucked on 3rd down the entire time Daboll and Jones have been there, which is why their offense has stunk the entire time. If you're completing 67% of your passes and among the leagues worst on 3rd down, you need to throw the ball further down the field. -

I think the most alarming part to me was how dependent he was on his running stats, but i never found his athleticism jumping off the screen. Allen might not be the fastest dude ever but... his acceleration is good, he's a load to bring down, and he's incredibly shifty. -

I mean... if brady left? sure, I'd consider it. I personally think Daboll needs to step back from calling plays for a bit though. -
the Daboll/Schoen regime - on the brink, it seems
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't know how they're going to get a QB though. If the coach/gm is on thin ice, why am i letting them mortgage the future and trade future 1sts to move up, on a QB when they felt like they could win with daniel jones? -

Totally agree. They were given this "team on the rise" tag, and i think they won 8 1-score games that year. Very few turnovers and a last place schedule. They are 8-16 over the last 2 seasons which is enough games to know that this team is bad. The offense has been bottom 5 for 2 straight years with an offensive coach. The defense can get after the QB - but they have 1 interception through 7 weeks. They have forced 6 fumbles and recovered all 6, which is not sustainable. They've probably actually overachieved on defense all things considered. The team that they have built over 3 years - is really bad. I would fire pretty much everyone, and figure out a way to get a QB - maybe 2 tbh. -
We need to be a lot better on special teams
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd agree. Just doesn't seem detail oriented enough to be a good coordinator there. We're probably among the worst teams adjusting to the new kickoff rules. Punt coverage is.. i'd say average but it feels below average. We've fully commited to kicking it out of the end zone because we have no confidence in our unit. Return units have been alright, but how much of that has been covington just being shifty and fast vs. effective plays by the unit as a whole. FGs and Punts have been blocked in his tenure. What are we even doing right? -

Definitely wasn't the 8 turnovers. -

I was with you til that part. You weren't there, you don't know what happened, so I think its unfair to victim blame. Lets not act like he's a choir boy who was unfairly caught up in this. Or whatever happened that night was completely legal, consensual, and generally OK. To just say - oh well i left so its not my problem is such a cop out as a human being. I don't feel bad for him, and i don't blame buffalo for getting rid of a PR nightmare. I thought the one at the end of the first half was playable inside the 5, but the one gunner didn't get around on it. -
Defense: 1st Half vs 2nd Half - What is going on?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
I guess they don't "have" to, but they will to some extent. You can't run the same play action pass a bunch of times, your QB is going to get lit up on a naked bootleg one of those times. They schemed open a bunch of short play action stuff, and some good zone beaters. But again, you see that same lineup and they run the same route concepts you are opening yourself up to a play, not to mention the more you keep throwing short the more the safeties creep. -

I think they need to dictate more, create more negative plays. Be it blitzing, or doing something differently than - reacting to their motion, reacting to their protections, etc. You run the risk of giving up big plays, but game scripts lately have been very similar in that they use motion to one side and run to the other, or PA one side and roll to the other. -
2024 Rookie WR Stats (Through Week 8)
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
They tried it in the red zone but the DB slipped around the knox pick. He still almost caught it and it was not a very good pass. -
Breaking tackles in different ways. Cook being able to make those cuts inside and outside can generate a ton of extra yards, and davis just has very good contact balance to go with his straight line style.
-
They seemed to struggle a lot with stunts and blitz pickups that 2 week stretch. One thing i noticed on the road was occasionally running a no-huddle play after a successful play just to force a team into a base defense, get them off snap count at 1, and make it easier for the offensive line. Pass pro was never COT's strong suit, but he's showing some improvement there. I think you have to be able to run it in buffalo/pittsburgh/NY/NE. The weather will occaisionally hit you, and we ideally want to play at home.

(edited)8 games in, 4.5-game division lead…
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the challenge for them is they just finished up on the easier parts of their schedule. Still have Buffalo, Houston, GB on the road. Cleveland and the jets on the road in december and january is not good for their speed type offense. 49ers too. I just don't see them winning enough of those games to make it out of the hole they dug. Phillips being gone is a killer, Chubb coming off a late season ACL (we all kinda saw how von looked in similar scenario). Their defense has played well so far in limiting yards but i think schedule and game flow has had an effect there. -
I always found it to be more of a talk show than something like sportscenter.

Some execution issues.. 3rd down drop on the first drive. Penalty on the 2nd drive put htem in 3rd and long - I thought he had kincaid who can get the sideline and maybe the first. Third drive was a hollins route that..... I think a better WR might catch it... and i just don't see hollins getting as many 3rd down snaps as the season goes on with the cooper addition. I thought they did a good job accounting for the fact that they were struggling to run the ball at times. -
Every time i've been to elmos during the day its a ghost town so you can probably mash some tables together. NYBP brunch is really good too. Place is always mobbed but its legit. I just went to the orchard park location and that place is ridiculous.

Kicker Lucas Havrisik signed to PS
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Look at nick folk... he's made 37 of his last 38 field goals since going to Tennessee. He was 6/11 in tampa in 2017 and didn't even make a roster in 2018. He made less than 80% for 4 consecutive years from 09-12. -
Isn't taron johnson playing the taron johnson role?
-
I don't mind having 2 sideline guys there to prevent much in the way of gains - with 8 seconds they can potentially get a decent chunk for the field goal attempt. but with that and rushing 3 you still have 6 guys deep to cover 5 max. I don't like bernard... spying or delayed blitzing. Just rush 3. And put coleman or hollins (or both) in the middle to get some height and jumping.
