Joe Brady for QB Coach? [Now Hired]
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall
Their offensive line was a WRECK last year. They used 11 different guys, and their starting center played less than half the snaps. I don't think its a particularly strong unit even with fewer injuries. In addition the best playmaker played less than 300 snaps with injuries, and they used 3 QBs - Darnold who needs a run game/protection (got neither), Newton (no arm), and Walker (Probably not an NFL player). Bill walsh couldn't have done a thing with that team. -
Mike McDaniel hired as HC by Miami

Unpopular opinion? Tua is fine, the offensive line and backs are absolute trash. The good part is they don't really have any massively overpaid players on the line, so they can invest in it. But from left to right they need upgrades (jesse davis is fine at RT). If you want to run a shanahan offense though, they need to rebuild the entire thing. Also Unpopular opinion - Their defense is super overrated. I assume bringing in an offensive guy they'll probably not make many changes on the defensive personnel, but they probably should. Jaelan Phillips got 5 of 9 sacks against Carolina (In the Cam/PJ walker combined game) and NYG (Mike Glennon and a trash oline). -
I don't know how they'll swing everything - but they can't run back the super bowl roster again. Brady, gronk, suh all out. Godwin i doubt they would franchise tag him again because it would kill their ability to sign anyone (almost 20M in cap charge if they tag him, and that space is taken up while they try to negotiate an extension).

Atlanta's defense is trash though... Tampa still has quite a bit of talent on the roster even if they're likely to see considerable turnover. What they do at QB will be the big question, and I can see them making the push for Watson. Arians is almost 70, the team's still good, weak QB draft - they seem like the type of team to ignore indiscretions for a shot at the title.

Elite talent matters

Wasn't O'Dell able to pick his destination tho? They tried to get watt in the off-season too if ur thinking about adding a top level player. I don't think they were willing to spend all their day 2 picks on Miller. When ur the rams u can sign all the free agents, it doesn't really work that way here. -
The D definitely carried the 49ers during his tenure. Then Patrick Willis, and Justin Smith retired. The guy Borland who started when Bowman was out even retired. Aldon Smith got his 3rd DUI after the suspension filled 2014 season. Even Anthony Davis retired on the offense. Never really got to see what the team was capable of without harbaugh.

Cuz that type of limited offense doesn't tend to win super bowls. You have to be able to run the ball for sure, but I don't know that you should build an entire offense around it when your best player is your QB. 2008 Steelers are an example (they avoided both Manning (L to chargers)and Brady (injury) in that postseason). 2019 49ers were close as they obviously got there... But Jimmy G in the 4th quarter of that game was the reason they didn't win it. The Eagles got there because Wentz played great before his injury, and Pederson/Reich called a masterpiece in the Super bowl - I wouldn't call them a "ball control" offense necessarily.

Are we the slowest team in the league?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
YACs a neat stat, but a lot of it is tied to the depth of target. Kupp and Kelce to me are just... freaky good players who see the field like QBs. It is not their flatline speed that kills teams. Samuel gets a ton of short depth throws. Same with Adams, Ekeler, Godwin, Johnson, Hardman, Harris in the top 10 of that field. I think it's a product of the offense, as well as the defenses you're seeing. KC and buffalo were seeing a ton of deep safety looks, and KC was able to A- run more effectively, B- utilize hardman in the mckenzie role much more frequently/effectively and C- crack the zones open with Kelce. Buffalo only had about 90 RB targets in 17 games - they also have 3 regular playing WRs who would have lead KC in aDOT. Buffalo seemed to open up the offense more once they got backs involved, and it seemed to help the run game as well. If your best players are Ekeler or Adams or something, it makes sense to get them the ball right off the snap etc. But our best players are guys like knox davis and diggs who make their money a bit further down the field. I agree with Beane in saying Beasley should be back, i just expect far fewer than the 100+ targets he's seen the last couple years. I also don't think he should be running screen plays and 2 and 3 yard out routes, he's not dynamic enough to create after that. Too often he'd make the catch, try and juke and just get put down. But you do need WRs with good hands out of the slot, he just needs to be a bit further downfield not the like 1-4 yard plays. Mckenzie should and did start to see some of those looks as the season went on, but when you see samuel and patterson playing these hybrid roles so effectively you may want to look for a more dynamic player in the draft (after round 1, even at pick 25 i like them to continue looking for athletic upside). -
McD's Bills in postseason: 3-0 at Home, 0-4 Road.

Not to mention that kickoff thing where they just didn't down the ball... -
Fix the OT Rule for Playoff Games--That was Stupid
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Nextmanup's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd like to see a 10 minute overtime period after... I'd also like the game to just... pick up where it leaves off. No coin toss. Go to a quick commercial and keep playing. Still tied after 10? Do another 10. Thats my OT idea. -
Better team comp - early to mid 2000's Colts?

If I get to watch allen have a HoF career and win 1 super bowl, I'd be happy. I'd love for him to win multiple, but I'd absolute take that career path. -
How many chances does McDermott have left?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Igotbills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would say... at least a couple more chances. He's the best coach we've had in like 25 years by a huge margin, and he's basically running into his mentor the last 2 years. -
Milano sucked tonight. He still sucked tonight tho... not saying fire him, but he was one of the worst offenders tonight

That wasn't really fault but still unfortunate. -
I like it - go down swinging. Score points. Hit them and attack the catch points. I don't see us playing as much cover 4 as KC has been killing teams with RPOs this year so i see a bit more cover 1 man to get poyer more in the box. You can roll that safety to hill if he goes deep, but they've used him a lot in short stuff this year. Kelce and Pringle will be the tough coverage assignments in this one. Can milano break up those 3rd downs?

Observations re the week 5 KC/Buff game
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep - that to me always falls on milano and edmunds. They mix them in with RPOs so they create even more conflicts- especially with our zone heavy approach.
