  1. Honestly if its me i throw it to knox. He would get that first down if you throw it right out of the break.
  2. I'd even argue arizona - cards missed a FG so all miami had to do was run clock at the end. Probably the flukiest one was the raiders with fitz chucking it up and getting the facemask tacked on to put them in FG range (59 yarder to 44 yarder).
  3. Was he that bad against baltimore? Both teams missed a couple of FGs. Buffalo couldn't run the ball at all. They came out and took a 7 point lead in the 3rd quarter, and didn't have the ball again until the 4th quarter. And they ran 5 minutes off the clock on the next drive after the pick 6. Could probably argue he was our best player against KC - not sure anyone else even qualifies.
  4. Yeah... I saw Kelce catch a pass from a bailing mahomes right near the LOS, and get a 60 yard TD on it. I'm sure he broke a tackle or two, but that doesn't happen without a ton of downfield blocks.
  5. No - but based on a game flow, if there is a light box you are supposed to check and run the ball. When you play empty for 30 snaps, the runs come from the QB which i think is a bit dangerous. I don't think you need to go heavy here, just do a quick count of the box and if you have numbers run it. Sanders had one down the field too. Those are usually the difference between 10-15 and TD runs.
  6. It bothered me that a lot of run checks in week 1 were mostly qb draws. If they want to play 2 high, run out of 11 personnel. Don't need the qb constantly running into contact, we have running backs for that. Some read option plays for them were big chunks. I think they ran a qb power as well. There were also man coverage scrambles. We've seen mostly zone to limit the scrambles, but read option and qb power can get u numbers on one side for chunk plays if they want to play off coverage zone. I'd use Spencer brown in some situations like that. He played tight end before and size wise he's a mismatch to any linebacker. It'll force their hand and u can attack vertically with play action. I'd even motion Knox across to Crack block on some runs and bootlegs to get the backside more help.
  7. Honestly screens are more for blitzes, i mean more sideline cutback stuff that we try to occaisionally run against bail coverage to bease.
  8. Yep - take the shots in PA. If you're spreading them out, the ball should be out quick.
  9. He got his ass kicked in pittsburgh (hit like 15 times, plus i feel like he got hit on a lot of his scrambles too), and the clock seems off. Ball out quick early in this one and take your shots when they adjust.
  10. Yep - If they wanna play 2 safeties high you need to hammer them on the ground. The other thing is - if they're in zones like cover 2/3/4, there's like always someone open for a short gain. Screens, plays to the flats, get blockers out in front and just make them play closer to the LOS. This week were playing ron rivera, so allen should have some familiarity with the defense they play. Attack the middle of the field with knox, sanders, bease, and attack the boundary with short stuff to singletary.
  11. Pittsburgh did some strange zone stuff and essentially left people open, had pressure from 4, and took away a lot of that mid-range stuff he likes. Miami game was just... weird. Brutal 2nd quarter of offense. Seemed to be a lot of throwaways in the game. In the 2nd half they only had 4 possessions, they drove down and scored through the air which was pretty promising, 2nd drive they stalled (but flipped the field), and the last 2 drives only had 100 or so yards total to go to score 2 TDs and called 9 runs on those drives.
  12. Nothing out there is viable. Between Active and PS you're looking at like 350 offensive linemen who already have jobs. I believe he missed most of camp.
  13. There were quite a few throw aways in this one (they count 4, but Kumerow got a target on a ball that was thrown into the stands because no one was open), which usually means good coverage, pressure, or both. Only 1 sack on the day. 2 major bad decisions - the mckenzie sideline throw that was almost picked, and the int. He had one deflected at the line that looked like it could've been a nice gainer. 2nd half stat line i show is 10/17 for 120 and a TD, sacked once, and 2 carries for like 25 yards. Not crazy MVP numbers but they were in control offensively in the 2nd half, they had fantastic field position all game which limits the yards you can gain.
  14. Clearly pressure has been an issue so far this year. The big difference to the raiders vs bills against Pitt? Carr hit on the deep ball to ruggs, and buffalo missed on their big deep shot. That and the blocked punt.
  15. He came out in the second half and put them up 3 scores. They had the ball up 3 scores or more every time after that, the running game kind of takes over then.
  16. I thought he played fine in the 2nd half. They scored on 3 of 4 possessions, and had short fields. Nice td to knox... big play to diggs. Took what they gave him underneath. Great drive to come out in the 2nd half too.
  17. Hated the int. That play wasn't there and he had time to move and find something else. He underthrew diggs on a should be td before half, but the timing was good. One to Mckenzie was late. Miami called a decent game here defensively but they got hammered on short fields. The good news is, he played well in the 2nd half, we just didn't have the ball a ton. He shredded them on that drive to go up 21-0.
  18. I just take a day. Usually the insane doom and gloom is over after that.
  19. Even with the roman offense we did, and a lot of that was shady.
  20. Fact is we have a very high percentage of runs that go for no gain or a loss of yards. That always seems like a line issue.
  21. Dawkins missed a ton of camp, was also essentially hospitalized with an illness and supposedly lost a fair amount of weight and strength to anchor. If he doesn't improve, and fast, i have to consider giving spencer brown snaps.
  22. They were blitzing a ton in that one. They went away from the deep crossers and into some more timing based stuff to beat their man coverage
  23. Yeah - and if you don't even have a back back there to keep them honest all you're left with is allen QB draws when you check out of a pass. And I like Allen as a runner, but running backs are shiftier, have a lower center of gravity, and generally are made to take that punishment.
  24. Margins are thin in this game. A couple great pitchers can drag a mediocre team far. A hot goalie props up a mediocre hockey team. In the NBA a star or two definitely gets you to the playoffs every year easy. A great QB i think is what wins you more close games than you lose, but a bad defensive team usually doesn't go far. 7 teams make it now with the 3 wildcard games. Buffalo has a good QB. Buffalo has talented playmakers. Buffalo has a solid if unspectacular defense. They should be in the playoffs. The locker room is pretty tight so they know what they need to do. Gotta get to 10 wins.
