  1. Regular season - edmunds played all RPOs as passes. Probably shouldve changed it up based on the weather. Champ game - Sat in soft zones, couldn't tackle. They also couldn't get pressure. Tampa basically played zone in the super bowl, but tackled better and did get pressure. I'm personally content to play most of the game in zone. But they need to play very physical. Rough them up at the LOS. Disguise the zone concepts and man plays you sprinkle in. Front 4 has to get pressure, blitzing opens up passing lanes in their offense.
  2. When your defense is ranked 32nd in the league through 4 weeks? You have to kinda look at everything.
  3. Def an upgrade over dodson, probably klein as well. There's a bit of a diva there for a linebacker that I'm not sure fit's culturally though Perhaps this humbling experience will help him ditch that reputation. But it's as likely he signs with KC or something.
  4. I think the big reason they lost was that their banged up offensive line couldn't even hold the tampa pass rush to stop them. They had no solution to vea and suh just wreaking havoc inside. Mahomes likes to cut up field on those or escape backwards (it seemed like tampa wanted him to move backwards)- he was pressured 37.5% of drop backs. Once he evades pressure and escapes to the side, illegal contact is no longer a penalty so you can play a lot tighter coverage in those situations. This is why buffalo went heavy with pass rush, and this is why KC went all in on offensive line. KC did have a number of defensive penalties called in the super bowl that they seemed to get away with in buffalo. Everyone was all up in arms about the mathieu penalty in the endzone - you can't call d-holding with the ball in the air therefore it's PI since he was the targeted receiver. They also lined up Offside on a FG and gave tampa 4 extra points... was that the ref's fault too?
  5. I'm basically here. Pretty good chance his agent tells us to pound sand anyway.
  6. I'd doubt it as well. I'd guess Dallas. They have a big need across from Diggs.
  7. He's made most of his bad decisions when he had time. He either doesn't step up, doesn't step into his throw, whatever - he's just been off when well protected.
  8. Strange that they trade grant right after Fuller breaks his finger. Pretty thin behind parker, waddle, wilson. I wouldn't be surprised to see them try and do more 12 personnel groupings with the issues up front. Try and jumpstart the run game, give brissett some time to work.
  9. The problem is those guys can be 1 trick ponies. It tends to tip your hand a bit when you put them on the field. Sanders is actually currently 9th in the league in yards per reception. He's also 4th in the league in average depth of target among WRs who have at least 20 targets - behind ruggs, sutton, and chark. I personally want to see them go after interior offensive line in 2022 with the first pick, or maybe a corner. If they aren't paying edmunds its a nice spot to grab a LB to groom. I feel like at pick 32 (see what i did there 😉) you'd be getting like the 6th best WR in the draft at best.
  10. I think they can probably bring back mckenzie in the gadget/return role - those guys rarely get paid much. Depending how the rest of the year goes with sanders I can see him likely back as well and continuing to play well as a slot WR. They also have Davis whos been banged up so far this year. Even with a limited budget there are quite a few players who can play on this list. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/ufa/wide-receiver// If they wanted to look at slot guys - crowder comes to mind, humphries. Assuming they don't bring back sanders. I'm not all - get rid of bease either. The guy you sign would need to cost less than 6.1 million and give you similar production for you to feel like its a smart cost savings move. Also FWIW - sanders is 4th in yards, 5th in catches and tied for 3rd in TDs on this list. Everyone ahead of him is likely looking at 17-25 mil AAV deals so... If he wants another year, i'd feel compelled to give it to him. He's still good!
  11. Herbert looks solid to me - but not a first ballot hall of famer (Really Adam Schefter... really!). Keenan allen is a safety valve, and they do a ton of designed passes to him and ekeler/jackson. Almost half of his passing yards are YAC. This is the right way to do it with a younger QB though, ball out quick and take shots when you need to. He's looked good when he needed to drive the ball, but that style of offense will tend to punt if they get behind the sticks. His air yards per pass attempt are actually lower this year than last, and it probably has to do with the healthy ekeler for this entire stretch while he missed time a year ago. He also has a average pocket time of like 1.7 seconds, so he is getting rid of the ball quickly. All in all, the offense is designed for him to get it out quick and avoid some of the pitfalls younger QBs tend to run into. He has the size and athleticism still, and a live arm. He just tends to use it more for tight windows and scrambles than the highlight reel plays like wilson, allen, mahomes, murray, etc.
  12. Seahawks 1st in that draft is LJ collier who has been basically a bust. 1st and 2nd a year later look like busts for them as well. You won't hit on them all, beane probably has a better track record than most GMs over the last couple of years. Ford to me should be a swing tackle/guard for his final year and a half in buffalo. He'll get a chance to turn it around and compete to start, however he to me shouldn't be relied upon as anything beyond depth. After that he's expendable as his pay would go up more than he's justifiably worth to a contender, and could be replaced by a new pick in the next 2 years.
  13. Not getting allen moving in the red zone. I liked the diggs pitch play, keep them honest on all the jet action.
  14. They just let brokers buy seasons - and brokers sell them to whoever pays the most.
  15. For me its just making sure he's grabbing some first downs, keeping the ball with buffalo. He's due for a the endzone too.
  16. Houston isn't among the worst offenses in the league simply because they haven't been very turnover prone. But they struggle to move the ball, as well as on on 3rd downs, and this bills defense is a bad matchup for a team that doesn't run well and has an inexperienced QB. Confusing coverages, disciplined DBs, good pass rush, its a recipe for a poor outing. As for their defense, they know for a fact that they need multiple takeaways to have a shot in this game. They will be ball punching and trying all game long. Moss and DS need to be secure, Diggs needs to get out of bounds, and Allen needs to be conscious of pressure. Take what they give you - balls out quick, run into 2 high fronts, use some jet action to get their LBs moving to make space in the middle of the field. Obviously take your shots when they are there, but playing a smart efficient game should get you a win.
  17. The problem is re: uncatchable balls, its very subjective. You also can't call illegal contact or holding if the ball is in the air. I don't mind the idea of an upstairs ref in communication with everyone, but football happens pretty fast. I just like the idea that they can watch a replay of the call maybe once in real time and determine if its good or not. The old "let em play mantra". The exact thing happens in hockey, then in the cup finals it seems like they call stuff again. It was some solid justice to see their offense and defense just get thrashed with holding calls in the super bowl though.
  18. DS shiftiness can create some significant extra yards in the way he hits the holes. Moss is far better at turning the chicken s--t our offensive line produces and getting that extra yard or two.
  19. A lot of it is timing. If he's late to throw it can almost look like he underthrew it, and if you release a bit early the player can't get to the spot.
  20. What is the appropriate pay scale for the guy? AJ Klein makes 6M per year. Jaylon Smiths AAV is like 12, but the final 2 years of the 6 year deal are voidable. Cunningham and Jack both make about 14-15. I'm not sure where he would fall tbh.
  21. Yep. Drafted to play right tackle. Ineffective and injury prone. Moved to guard where its been a mixed bag, but mostly poor. He's cheap for 1 more year, can play along the line in a few spots. He has a role, but it really shouldn't be in the starting lineup. The team needs to continue to make some moves along the offensive line in the next draft.
  22. I think that 20M loss had a lot to do with literally having 0 fans in the stands. Tickets don't make you a ton of that, but carrying a 0 when you could be making several million doesn't help things.
