I don't see us playing as much cover 4 as KC has been killing teams with RPOs this year so i see a bit more cover 1 man to get poyer more in the box. You can roll that safety to hill if he goes deep, but they've used him a lot in short stuff this year. Kelce and Pringle will be the tough coverage assignments in this one. Can milano break up those 3rd downs?

Yep - that to me always falls on milano and edmunds. They mix them in with RPOs so they create even more conflicts- especially with our zone heavy approach.

That and the FG calls by McD. KC can score and score quick - tons of speed at WR. You can't be kicking in the red zone down 21-9 and 24-12. Buffalo didn't get a stop for a loooong stretch in that game. The other reason we lost was a lot of struggles on the offensive line - couldn't run the ball effectively all day so we just got away from it.

I felt diggs was getting mugged all game and they didn't call anything. Sounds like this crew lets them play too, but these weren't like ticky tacky holds. He was interfered with at the catch point on a couple 3rd downs with no call. First drive there were 2 ticky tack holding calls that benefited KC - the tre white one really wasn't that bad and converted a 3rd and 6 for them. 3 Points On the 2nd drive for KC they got another conversion on 3rd down from a defensive holding on siran neal (who likely played more to be a combination with Klein as a 2nd LB). 7 points Roughing the passer on Oliver wasn't a very good call from what i remember - on a 4th and 3 from the KC 32. They didn't score on that drive but they were on the 8 yardline. DPI on tre white on next drive - 18 yards - kelce fell, i see why they called it.. but kelce initiated contact... 7 Points 17 points on penalty assisted drives... they thrive on those 2nd chances. Buffalo had the big roughing the passer call on the interception that allen threw on the next drive... but Allen picked up the first down on 3rd and 9 and it was called back on holding... when there was literally no holding. So that play imo should never have even happened.

Yeah - Hill is a fast dude. This year they've been forced to use him a bit differently. Yards per target and average depth of target are both way down.

Well if they share a kid there's likely family court. They might just push it over to that. And in that situation I could see them making him pay for stuff.

Yeah - he'll be ready for the game sunday - might miss some practice/film though. Hopefully some extra stress on his mind and he plays worse. In any case any suspension or punishment wouldn't be til after court anyway so not particularly notable.

Yes - its sort of the point of why they compete all year. When you're expected to make the playoffs you should have an end goal of winning it all.

Cowboys can save 14 and get value from coopers deal by trading him, and Dak's deal was designed to have the base salary lowered in 2022. Could probably move tyron smith and get more pick value and another 5m if you need it. Anthony brown can save 5 million easy, and he sucks anyway. Zuerlein saves them 2.5. The big issue is zeke's contract is a disaster. They're going to have their work cut out for them with neal, gregory, vander esch, wilson&gallup, schultz and there really isn't a ton of money there to replace them.

Buffalo had a few flukey plays go their way - Pringle fumble on the KO return, the hill drop turned pick 6, and even the rousseau deflection int are not like... mis-reads or mistakes. Buffalo also had a lot of protection issues at times and allen resorted to some bad habits - the grounding after the pringle fumble. Buffalo also didn't have much of a run game and were extra reliant upon allen runs. They hit on a few deep balls to knox, diggs, and sanders. Knox had an incredible grab in the 2nd half. Regarding RFP calls...they went for it on 4th on their own 30 and it wasn't converted and a ticky tack RFP call kept the drive alive. Buffalo got their own on an allen INT as well - which followed a 3rd down conversion that they called back on a phantom hold (literally no one on the line held on the play). Couple of missed PI calls on diggs. Couple of really bad holding calls on the Oline ( the morse one was ridiculous), one on white that wasn't too egregious. I felt KC honestly got more calls than we did, so something to keep in mind - their own mistakes cost them that game. If anything the refs kept KC in it when they didn't convert their 3rd downs. Buffalo's game plan will likely look similar defensively, i wouldn't count on all the turnovers by KC. I also wouldn't expect buffalo to be hitting/attacking with so many deep routes. This will be won on 3rd downs and in the red zone. KC is going to get theirs on offense, the key is the big 3rd down stops and forcing FGs in the red zone. If they can get out ahead then turnovers are more likely to occur. Offensively Buffalo has a ton of personnel groupings that can give defenses issues and they're more varied than they probably looked in the previous game. The NE game showed what the offense is capable of when firing on all cylinders, and they've gradually been bringing things along. They seem to have found their 5 linemen and 6th for jumbo short yardage looks. The fact that they aren't sneaking on 3rd and 2 and are now handing it off, or boot actioning is creating additional conflict for the defense. They've also started using more RPOs to create conflicts on defense enabling allen to throw and run more effectively.

Defense took advantage in that game of some mistakes. The 4th quarter drive that basically sealed it was the big difference (aided by a roughing the passer call). Mahomes can't play catch-up if he isn't on the field.

It's a majority zone team - zone helps with qbs like mahomes as u have more eyes on him. Zone works best when the players communicate, understand leverage and challenge the catch point. There is no point adding a random player here.

They definitely struggled after the injury to Hopkins, and Murray never looked the same after his injury. Edmonds was also missing for a few weeks. Conner was a nice story and obviously a good short yardage back but he isn't a dynamic playmaker. Moore came in and didn't look at all out of place, and AJ green is likely gone next year similar to Sanders with Buffalo. JJ watt missing the last 10 weeks corresponded to a pretty significant drop off in production on the defense. He came back for the playoff game but his pass rush efficiancy was clearly not as big an impact as the investment. Chandler jones had 10.5 sacks, but5 of them were in week 1 against Tennessee. His impact goes beyond that, but that still has to be considered a disappointment. Their last 2 first round picks in Isaiah Simmons and Zaven Collins have not been the impact defenders at LB either (were both outsnapped by former Bill Tanner Vallejo in a playoff game). This type of poor drafting tends to catch up to you as you continue trying to build a roster, as rookie contracts who can create an impact tend to be very valuable. If your team starts out 7-0 and goes 1 and done thats a major disappointment. They're likely to run it back next year with Murray on the 4th year of his rookie deal, and knowing that an extension will require some structural changes internally. Defense is older with Jones/Watt as primary pass rushers in their 30s, and baker's new deal kicking in next year. I don't know where i see them next year - but I could see them missing playoffs entirely and dumping Kliff.

Yeah - and honestly he looks like a gym rat so he'd probably fit in comfortably in the 315-320 range. Linemen in general seem to be leaning out considerably from the days where you just had to eat your weight in pasta. Tall order ahead with the chiefs rush though - Jones occaisionally lines up at End, and Okafor and Ingram are not bad players on that side.

Sanders can still run - the guy he beat was like 24. Though Joejuan Williams big knock coming out was his lack of speed.

There are a few to me. Baltimore was done in by injuries - but that doesn't change the fact that they anticipated winning that division. Browns - Pretty big disappointment. They were banged up a lot this year as well, and just never seemed able to get the offense going - likely due to Mayfields injury and the oline not playing as well as they did a year ago. Minnesota - 6-8 in 1 score games. Kirk is a solid system guy, but when the run game doesn't or can't carry them he's usually not enough. They did a better job rushing the passer, and are always positive on TO diff. This is probably the year to get the young guy to groom under a new coaching staff - But in the similar realm of buffalo in the EJ draft... the year they need one is a terrible QB year. LAC - Herbert was a media darling all offseason and played really well this year. 3-3 in the division, and 1-3 in the final 4 games is a brutal way to end a season though. You'd think with Bosa and James healthy the defense would be good at something - and they just aren't. Worst 3rd down D in the NFL, and one of the worst RZ D in the NFL. Bosa is the highest paid DE in the NFL, but Buffalo's rotational approach with sprinkled in blitzes generated more sacks and pressure. Colts - 7 pro bowlers, an all-pro run game with the best offensive line in football. Problem - if the run game didn't dominate, they lost ever single time. They also had 6 games where they had fewer than 300 yards - which is essentially the jaguars offense. Defense took the ball away a ton, and was usually good. My vote is the colts. Ton's of talent - Taylor, Nelson, Leonard, Buckner etc. And they lost to titans twice, and Jag's on a win and in game. There isn't anything more disappointing than losing to the Jags week 18 to me. Chargers losing to the Texans in week 16 is close.

That and a larger commitment to RPOs. I remember Staley from the chargers mentioned how run blocking is important to OL as a game flow type of thing - get them to attack the man in front of them. RPOs allow you to kind of do that while also passing. Create conflicts for the linebackers and defensive ends. RPOs have created some extra space for the backs in standard zone rushes, the pin+pull stuff has helped get the line moving more effectively, and utilizing morse in Pop sets has helped a ton with the stunts and twists that gave them so many issues early in the year.

Jordan Phillips would theoretically replace butler as a depth 3T behind oliver.
