  1. He should. Brady's very decisive when throwing it away. A few Superbowls help
  2. Looks like he didn't go through further progressions to the left - have we seen him do this??
  3. Absolutely, that way you 'develop' him by giving him a pressure 4th down.
  4. Keep the fire. Just play in a way that doesnt shorten your career and leaves the bills with a void at QB.
  5. Its harder to see what's going on with the coaching isn't it. With Allen we can see what's happening or make our judgments easier. With the coaching there has to be an element of faith they are doing the right thing. Dabolls been animated at him on the sideline in this game and the Bengals game after the INTS. Regarding the interceptions and sacks, McDermott said in today's presser (paraphrasing) that 'We have to continue to make it CLEAR what is acceptable and not'. However, Allen did say in last week's interview that 'mcdermott does a great job of teaching us situational football'. ?
  6. I hear you but his health as the franchise QB is more important than diving head first for a first down. His coach would say the same thing. Its symptomatic of his moment to moment thinking which can be brilliant but can also be haphazard. Easy to say after the event but weren't you concerned he would get injured at some point? He was getting hit alot and put himself in harm's way too much. I understand the game is about 'toughness' but if you keep running head first as a QB your going to get your head smashed sooner or later.
  7. Yes - how much better is the question. You will always see flashes of the IT FACTOR if it is there. Starting to doubt it with Allen but time will further tell.
  8. Totally. Why was he running head first like a running back? I know he has running talent, I get it. Slide!! I found that more frustrating than the interceptions Slide. You need to be there for the next play.
  9. Best development for Allen is to stay in the pocket and throw.
  10. Why didn't any player stand up to the player that layed the hit to Allen.
  11. EJ played like he was smoking a cigar
  12. The first few plays of the pats game bothered me. The wide throw to gore in the flats for example. It showed me that he was tight, totally understandable but I want him to hit that throw. Put New England on the back foot straight away. Jests game he did that straight away and was great. unlucky I thought to not start the season perfect and with a TD. Sometimes he seems like the stage doesn't phase him, sometimes he seems like the stage phases him. Which is it
  13. Hm. Allen definitely looks the better quarterback to me off paper
  14. Would be interested to see a comparison of stats between Allen and Manuel.
  15. You know what. The deep interceptions and throwing back against the body don't bother me so much. The throwing against the body has worked a few times for big gains. What bothers me is not seeing open receivers (brown and Jones on the 3rd down he missed to beasley). They may have been touchdowns and that's the difference that we expect to see in the future right? Basic intelligence would suggest that New England would think we would go to Beasley on 3rd down.
  16. Yes I remember the EJ Manuel belief. Hyped by Whaley also. I don't want Allen to be good either. I want him to be great. The words 'Grow' and 'Develop' sound like great words, like it WILL happen. It may not. Surely the only real test is against good teams. Perhaps one could settle lower for a player who beats the teams he should beat, probably won't win a championship like that though.
  17. There can be an element of the grass is greener yes. I would like to the see the potential of a strong 3 TD game at some point to take me away from the doubt of a 3 INT game. We haven't seen that yet. I have seen good things but also remember the start of the jests game was scripted. The start of the half against the patriots was scripted. Does he have the it factor? I'm not convinced, but I admit yesterday's game started to plant the seed of doubt.
  18. Deshaun Watson, Russel Wilson were both good straight away. Daniel Jones already looks great after two games. Cam Newton was good straight away. Lamar Jackson is good straight away. Exactly the same thing was said about EJ Manuel. Because we want it so badly
  19. Bringing your team back from deficits is huge. He has led strong drives and started great against the jests I thought, looked like brady. I thought he was very poor to start against the patriots and at some other times. When he is very poor like that, the throw to a running back doesn't even get there. If it's a mental thing I wonder if it could be something that never really goes away. Absolutely. That's why it's a balance between 'developing' Allen and deciding if he is the one. Of course could do both and draft another quarterback but that would draw a LOAD of attention.
  20. It gives them the 'perfect storm' scenario to rest him, play Barkley, and let him think about the interceptions after being told again about looking after the football. Need to check back to see if this is the kind of scenario you mention! Allen is confident but it does concern me that it could go either way with his confidence after being told 'dont do anything stupid'. A bit like it's done with his deep ball at the moment. With alot of Allen opinions about how good he's been I think there is an element of seeing what you want to see.
  21. Its a delicate balance for sure. Can become a psychological issue
  22. Talent is not enough. If you are drafted 7th overall then you are very talented. Its the application of that talent, attitude and thinking under pressure situations that concerns me.
  23. Sure. You have made it clear where you stand, however do you not have reservations in the back of your mind?
