Tre got beat a couple times by the best WR in the league, it happens. But he also made some great plays contesting catches, which I felt was lacking with Dane. And they threw at him, made him prove it. I thought he played great.

hell if we are that scared of bass slipping on a chip shot - who is to say he doesn’t slip trying to boom a kickoffOr the extra point for that matter.

I'm surprised how much discussion this play has warranted. I can lay out exactly what happens if Singletary runs into the endzone there. The Dolphins get the ball back with 34 seconds left and 1 timeout. On 1st down we drop everyone way back into soft coverage and Tua delivers the ball to one of his speedy weapons who is tackled close to the 50. Dolphins take their last timeout with maybe 27 seconds remaining. They now have a few chances to let Waddle or Hill get past the secondary or take a quick slant to the house. Damar Hamlin is standing deep in the secondary itching to take the worst angle you've ever seen in a football game. I would not be comfortable AT ALL in that scenario.
It's that or trust your reliable FG team to kick one that's even closer than an XP as time expires.
No brainer decision against this Dolphins team.
Seriously. In both instances, whether he goes down or not, something flukey has to happen in order to lose. Either Bass misses the chipshot because of the conditions or Miami goes down the field and scores with 30s and a TO. Of those two options which one is more flukey? IMO, I want to be in control of the situation and not give the ball back at all. Miami cant score without the ball, plain and simple. So dont give them the ball and you have to trust your players to make the play. I, and obvi McD, trust Bass to make that kick every time.

Then why does Vegas lower the o/u for every game that is expecting lots of snow?
So youre right. But I want to amend my statement. Snow favors offense in the matchup of skill positions vs defenders. So if you can get the skill position players the ball offense will win. The snow really impacts the lines and QB play though, so I think overall scoring drops. So on a wholistic level, yes snow favors defense. But what I was replying to was, I believe, a statement about the snow neutralizing Hills speed which is what I was focusing on in my mind. It just didnt come out of my fingers tips clearly.

The cold and snow should favor the defense and limit both offenses. I think that's a win for the Bills. It probably neutralizes the speed of Miami's dynamic duo of Wrs and Mosert. The Bills have very little speed weapons.
The Bills defense is better the Miami's.
Well frankly that should have been done when there was 13 seconds left in a game.
Weird I think snow favors the offense. Changing directions is probably the hardest thing to do in the snow. So a LB or DB that needs to quickly drive on a ball carrier will be neutralized but if a WR can get going in a straight line (across the middle, on a jet sweep) its not hard for them to keep running. I think disrupting Hill and Waddle will be just as key here than in LA. the snow will make them slower but Hill will still be the fastest guy on the field. Cant let him get to top speed and also cant have Tua get him the ball in stride.

Allen's recent numbers are NOT great, FTR. They are "cleaner" lately, which has been good enough against some meh offenses (and good defenses).
After an 8-game span of historically ELITE performance (2021 playoffs through week 6 of 2022), we CANNOT ignore Allen's sudden and stark regression beginning with the 2nd half against GB and lasting into the 4th quarter of the Thanksgiving game. There are SO many contributing factors to this regression to the mean, including injuries to Allen and his supporting cast, but NONE of that excuses Allen's sudden refusal to take what defenses give him and distribute the ball patiently and precisely.
He kinda got the yips, TBH. Of course we still saw flashes of the absolute maestro he's become, but over the course of those 3-4 games we saw a surprising amount of bad reps from #17. It happens over the course of a career. He's by no means alone in the blame for these uncharacteristic stumbles.
As for his supporting cast, they'd look a HECK of a lot better if the offense designed more plays for Knox. Use HIM as the #2 option, maybe? Let Davis be a third or even fourth option on some plays and see if that operates better. People weren't so down on Buffalo's skill positions last season, seemingly. And I KNOW Sanders wasn't some plus target down the stretch.
It wasnt all a disaster from the GB game to the Detroit game. Allen and the offense were very good against Cleveland and also Josh was very good against Minny until he short circuited in the 4th quarter with 2 picks and a fumble. With 10mins left in the 4th quarter Josh was 22/29 for 262 1TD and 0 turnovers. I know he had an all time disaster 4th but we were not an inept offense for 4 weeks straight.

I'm a Mets fan and even I find this ridiculous. Errors can absolutely be charged to a fielder if the ball doesn't touch his glove. And the notion of Derek Jeter padding any stats is nothing short of silly.
Im joking. Im a pretty diehard Yankees fan.
Anyway, this is a good read.

I would like to know where that "missed tackles" stat comes from and how it is calculated
I have a suspicion that yes, Milano misses more tackles than anyone else on the team because he's making it into position to try to tackle guys who were NOT his assignment, more than anyone else on the team.
It sounds as though potentially, it could be somewhat analogous to PFF's stats on OL where they actually don't know the blocking assignments and charge guys with a whiff when it actually was the other guy's job and they just tried to bail us out.
The ole "Derek Jeter stat padding". Cant be given an error if you dont get your glove on the ball.
Is the Milano tackle stat broken down by % of total tackle attempts?

Zero change huh. I disagree.
You realize Cinci is on a 5 game winning streak right now, one of the hottest teams in the NFL and home team usually gets implied 3 pts. We shall see what happens between now and then.
according to betting markets, we are ~3 points better than the Bengals. Obvi things will change between now and our game but if the game were this weekend it would be a pickem basically.

Someone posted earlier that the Bills are like 10-1 in games below a certain temperature threshold with McD.
If so, it seems like you are wrong about the bills being the team at the disadvantage.
I think theres a disconnect with weather games. The thing is Josh doesnt play great but we usually win the games. So its annoying since we expect and want Josh to ball out. But end of the day a win is a win.
Last year the Falcons and Panthers games come to mind. We won both but didnt play great. Another is Baltimore earlier this year.

It’s wild this much attention for a guy who averaged 8.5 and 4.3 ypc his last 2 years.
never expected to feel this desperation at 10-3.
i dont really get why this move is considered so desperate. We have been in on OBJ for months, publicly had him in for a visit. That right there signals we have wanted to add to the WR room all season. OBJs health wasnt where we wanted it to be, but that doesnt mean we dont want to add at WR. So...we added a guy that we think can help us. It just happened to be Cole Beasley.
The other team that courted OBJ was Dallas and they *also* signed an aging vet WR. I dont recall many people here saying Dallas is so desperate. A team that feels they have a chance at a SB wants to add talent to the roster.
If you separate the specific player from the acquisition of a WR it is not a desperate move. Would we be calling this desperate if we had signed TY Hilton instead? In a perfect world, yes we wouldnt need to add talent at all. So its an admission that our roster isnt where we want it. But this is no more an admission of that than the courting of OBJ.

SF and LA showed you can disrupt Tua by jamming at the LOS/playing a lot of press-man. Elam was best at press ocverage in college. Itll be interesting to see:
1) if we try to emulate SF and LA
2) if Elam is out there because of his skillset there. Or if he is still benched despite a gameplan geared towards his strengths.

I'd be pretty surprised if OBJ chooses to play on MetLife turf 8 games a year.
this newer thing that guys will refuse to play on turf is kinda weird. I get data suggests turf creates more injuries but I cant imagine the turf would even make the top 5 priorities when choosing a new team. If you are cleared to play football you are cleared to play football.
I saw SO many people saying Tre couldnt/wouldnt come back in certain games because of the turf. Well guess what, he came back on turf.

I think we were missing White, Poyer, Milano and Rousseau for 1/2, so they were definitely up against a much weaker D.
I think we step on their throats and cover that spread. Rare for me as I am usually an arm flapper.
I really believe many of our problems from the GB game through the Detoit game were injury related, even spreading to the offense with complementary football stuff.
When we have Edmunds, Milano, Greg, Von, Poyer out there I think we are almost unbeatable on defense. Our issue is depth, and the talent level falls off a cliff when any one of them is out let alone two of them.

I honestly would stay with Purdy if I were SF.
Probably will but good to get someone in as a competent backup and get a look at for next season. Given that nobody knows how Tre will heal up and Jimmy might be gone next year.

We have certainly had bad fumble luck, with key fumbles in Miami, KC, LA, Baltimore. But since this number tracks total WP, it is also heavily influenced by the fumble in the EZ against Minnesota. Our WP went from very high to very low.

How is this possible though because I thought he was put on season ending IR?
There is no season ending IR anymore (at last not not right away). 4 game minimum, and then after that the player can return if healthy.

This is interesting:
The new field is going to be heated to prevent snow accumulation and the whole stadium will be designed with snow removal in mind.

Kurt Warner Breakdown of Josh Allen in the Miami Game
in The Stadium Wall
Posted
Funny enough the preferred QB style for Kurt is Tua. A cerebral QB that has great anticipation and great accuracy. I think its fine to have multiple opinions out there breaking down the same tape. Kurt is consistent in that he always criticizes Allen using his athleticism when it wasnt 100% necessary. Kurt wants Allen to play like Drew Brees when its available and then only utilize his physical talents when there isnt a good play to make within the pocket. It is his personal rubric but I think it will just never happen. Of course if you cant escape the pocket and throw on the run like Allen you will be forced to read the field a bit better or get benched. Guys like Tua and Drew Brees and Kurt were able to do so. They are definitely more cerebral than Josh. But Josh is (more) successful because he can do 75% of that and also make plays happen out of structure. But sometimes he prefers out of structure. The TD to Morris is a perfect example.
Yes he could have stayed in the pocket but he imiediately say that Morris beat his man and so ran right to get the throw he wants. Was it "Ideal QB play"? No, Brady would have stayed in the pocket and made the throw. But Josh doesnt have to and thats fine by me.
