  1. Its funny, this weekend I just went back and watched the Dolphins, Chargers and Bears game in rewind (couldnt stomach the Texans game) and I walked away glad we turned it over to Orton. I actually went in trying to see if maybe EJ was better than I remembered but he was just as bad except for a couple drives in the Bears game and the Dolphins game. I vote that Cassel wins this competition.
  2. Apparently he was with Jimmy Gaines. I just heard this piece of info, take it for what it's worth. This could all be for nothing.
  3. That makes sense because of Florida.
  4. My brother works valet at the Lafayette in downtown Buffalo and he told me that Brandon Spikes is there right now. Maybe there are negotiations ongoing.
  5. The fact that you would want the Bills to trade Clay for Cousins might even be worse. Cousins is awful. Not even on the same planet as Dalton and Cutler as far as ability
  6. This pretty much was all covered in previous posts but one thing I didn't notice before is the line "Maybe the Redskins will give us Cutler". That makes it even better
  7. We feel that EJ may develop (some of us) but no team would give up anything for him, especially a competant starter even if Clay is in the deal as well because they already have a good TE. Also the Bears are not really re-building. They think they can compete now. They have a ton of weapons on offense and still have Cutler, and pretty good secondary. Last year was a down year but they are not in full blow-it-up rebuild mode. Clay is not nearly valuable enough to trade for Cutler especially given his huge contract. Send them Dareus and they might listen.
  8. Why oh why do people think that these ideas make any sense at all? Trade Charles Clay for Dalton? IF the Bengals wanted Clay that bad why wouldn't they have tried to get him? They already have Eifert, so they'll have two TEs and no QB? Smart. The same applies to the Bears with Bennett. I really don't understand why the people that make these posts think the players on the Bills are so valuable to anyone else in the league. Just because we over payed for Clay doesn't mean anyone else wants him, especially given how much money we gave him. Abs are by far the most important position in the league and you think teams are willing to trade one for a mediocre hybrid TE? oh throw in a QB that has never shown that he can make it in the league, that'll sell them.
  9. I think Cassel is best suited for this. This is exactly what EJ has been awful at this whole time. Recognizing the op en guy quickly and getting him the ball..
  10. We kind of are the Packers on defense, with Aaron Williams, Duke, Gilmore, Dareus, Kyle, Leodis all being major contributors last year who we drafted. Weve added pieces that played for other teams (Mario and Jerry) but the majority of the defense is home grown. Unfortunately because our talent on defense is so mismatched with what we have on offense we are in a position that in order to capitalize on this defense now we have to pay to get playmakers on offense, hence all of the signings. Itd be great if we had home grown players on both sides of the ball, especially QB but we dont.
  11. I think a lot of people, myself included, like to convince themselves that what they have or the decision they made is the best one and justify it. If we had kept Kiko and signed Murray this thread would be much more in favor of Murray over McCoy but since McCoy is on the team a lot of people are convincing themselves McCoy is better. In reality theyre both really good but good at different things. I think Murray actually fits the Roman system better, based on what he ran in SF (which may not be what he wants to run here) meaning that he is more like Gore than McCoy is but hes oft-injured. McCoy is a game changer though in a way we always hoped Spiller would be. He can get mediocre yards for a large portion of the game and then break a huge run for a TD at any moment. The difference is that we would still have Kiko on the team. While its easy to discredit him because he wasnt on the team last year and he is coming off of an ACL injury its dumb to suggest that you dont want him on the roster. If this same preposition was made for a team none of us care about I think a lot more people would choose Kiko + Murray. Did you see Phillys line two years ago when Shady had his big year? Evan Mathis was first team all-pro and Jason Peters was second team.
  12. Stevie is a better WR with a MUCH better QB throwing him the ball. All signs point to Stevie. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hogan cut honestly. I don't think it will happen but I wouldn't be shocked either
  13. Bring him in for a workout. There is no down side to bringing him in.
  14. maybe nobody but why not take a chance. Upside and potential are worthless if they can't realize it. Might as well give us a better chance at finding a QB. Many QBs that start were found later in the draft, after guys that had more upside.
  15. I think you mean Flash can be cut. I highly doubt anyone would give up any assets for an oft-injured guy that couldn't see the field on a team with a terrible offense.
  16. I see where you're coming from but don't agree with your assessments across the board. McCoy trade made sense, the deal is definitely overpaying and he almost certainly won't live up to it but thats ok if it helps us in the short term and its front loaded. Would I rather have Murray and Kiko than just McCoy? maybe but the deal is done and it does make sense to me. Obviously Felton and Hughes make a ton of sense. Harvin wasn't needed but it doesn't hurt to have more weapons. We aren't going to rely on Harvin to be our big play guy. He's likely 3rd on the depth chart of game-breaker type guys behind McCOy and Watkins which is a different situation than he has been in before. QB, there was nothing out there and i think the Locker retirement surprised them, taking a QB off the market. Obviously StL was willing to deal Bradford but we didn't have many assets to give back to them without a viable replacement QB or a first rounder so that was never a real option. Cassel is as bad/good as anyone available. The one thing I don't agree with is that they haven't really addressed O-line yet which seemed like such a priority
  17. What was he not motivated the last couple years? Competitiveness and motivation don't win games. Many guys in the NFL have had that but can't make it. If EJ makes it this year it will be because he learned to throw the ball more naturally with some velocity and learned to throw accurately in tight spaces while throwing receivers open.
  18. Im sure. It was an inside joke...from this board.
  19. I think you mean "mute point"
  20. Chris Brown ‏@ChrisBrownBills 46m 46 minutes ago Report: Offer expected soon from Bills for Clay http://wp.me/plmrg-beg
  21. I think what you described is exactly why he does want Clay. Watch some videos of Clay, he is not a typically tight end at all. He's slightly undersized to be the Gronk-nobody can stop me-type. Miami actually lined him up as a HB and FB on occasion and he carried the ball out of the backfield successfully. He can do that while also lining up as a TE and he's fast enough to get open on inside slant routes and such. Roman wants him because of his versatility and the misdirection we can use him for.
  22. Hopefully there is more money in Buffalo because at this point we need Clay. I don't want to get stuck with nobody and we apparently were so high on him before.
  23. How would he be better than Woods? The guy has been a waste since joining the NFL. Were not that desperate anymore
  24. Watch the film, they are completely different players. If McCoy, Felton and Clay are in the backfield together defenses wont know who is blocking, who is running out of the backfield and who is receiving a hand-off. There is a lot of deception that can be done with this guy because he is so versatile.
  25. They do this every year. Were foolish if we believe theyll be worse because of the rosters moves they are or are not making in March. As long as TB is throwing the ball and they have BB and Gronk the Pats will be just fine.
