  1. Between the 5-11 thing and that bolded statement Im beginning to worry...do you watch the games lol? The first team offense didnt play in the 4th preseason game but that doesnt matter because Josh led two scoring drives against the Panthers which was in the last 3 preseason games. Your first point is very true. We are almost mirrors of eachother. They are excited about all of the upgrades and rate their QB better than ours. We feel the same about our situation. Hopefully experience in a system wins out. Theres not any tape on Bell in this offense but theres also no tape of Beasly/Brown in ours. I hope our new O-line can keep Q out of the pocket and Josh doesnt get happy feet. Im also hoping our D-line can get through their week O-line and disrupt Darnold. One point you didnt mention is the blowouts. Our offense stunk last year, no doubt about it. But our defense also had games where they looked inept. Same with the previous year when we made the playoffs. Sean cant have those games this year. Our defense needs to be more consistent.
  2. That seems very reasonable. Especially since they reference 10+ wins. I think 9 wins is a major improvement and we can get the "explosive" player next year if its a huge need. Also nice to see that we did it right, according to this person. I kinda think the home-run player is overrated and often overpaid. Honestly, Im personally more worried about many other things haha.
  3. I am all for a woman PK in the NFL. But I think one of the biggest things against her is that shes already 37. Of course many kickers play into their 40s but thats very late to begin training let alone get signed to a team.
  4. Im surprised by this because I think we need O-line depth but Im even more surprised at Beane's ability to trade guys for value far exceeding what I expect. McCarron, Tyrod, Glenn(although this one was more even), now Teller
  5. I think this is true for every other position besides QBs. Because of how eager other teams are to trade up for them, you need to be a little more aggressive in making moves to secure the one you covet. If Darnold ends up great and Allen not as much, it could be that Beane wanted Darnold but due diligence tripped them up.
  6. I disagree with you. While they were busy figuring out whether they were worth trading up for the Jets actually moved up and made their situation much more difficult. You can move up to 3 in the mean time and figure it out from there. If you determine you need to get to 2 then its a lot easier to get there from 3 than it is from 12. By delaying any decision at all until a full evaluation was done the Jets got up there and it made it almost impossible to get ahead of them. If Beane ultimately wanted Darnold after their evaluation, they screwed themselves. Of course we will never know and I dont want to imply that Beane did want Darnold, but the concept still applies. "so that they wouldn't be stuck with a high pick they paid a premium for and then not have a QB they loved when it was their time to pick." They were taking a QB 100% so they should be putting themselves in position to draft the guy of their choosing at all times, if you like the guy it doesnt matter that you had to trade up for him. For any other position you want to protect assets but for QBs, you go up and get them. By letting the Jets get ahead of them they were letting the Jets dictate part of their decision.
  7. Overall a great article. I love the Athletic coverage. I always will wonder if Allen was their #1 going into the draft day if they would have had the first pick. We will never know because theyre not gonna say "We had Baker and Darnold higher but they were gone before Josh". But I love Josh and I feel better about him than I have other Bills QBs. Im very excited to see him with our new WRs with a year under his belt. And I love how much he seems to enjoy Buffalo. One thing that stood out to me, almost disappointed me, was that Beane said the Jets timelines was different than theirs. If they wanted to have the best chance of getting their guy, you'd hope they would be trying to make moves at all times to get up into the top 5 irregardless of how the board ends up. If youve got a QB you feel good about it doesnt matter if you move up to third or seventh. I hope they learned their lesson and wont get beat out by the Jets or other teams again. Now if you just dont have the capital or they can offer a better package, theres little you can do. But to just say they beat you to it kinda bums me out.
  8. I hope it was a fluke too but it was much more like what we saw last year than the week prior, so perhaps the Panthers game will prove to be the fluke. But I really believe Josh will have moments where he gets a little too comfortable and then he will make mistake and youl see him bounce back in game. I would have loved to see (not really, in a virtual simulation world or something) Josh stay in the Lions game for the second half to see how he improved. I do think it would not have been the same as the first half. Also here is a thread from the author of the article:
  9. I think we have learned that, at least to star the season, Josh is still at best inconsistent game-to-game and at worst more like this game ( the dress rehearsal) than the Panthers.
  10. Yea I saw we have the most money on the over in the NFL. I do think Vegas got us wrong, 7 likely would have been a better line.
  11. Yea thats true of course. But its not that Vegas *really* thinks were going to win 9 games but setting it at 5.5-6 will get equal money. In a scenario like setting total teams over/under before a season the line has to be set very close to true value.
  12. It means they view it as a pick em on a neutral field...which this game is not. Vegas is scary good at what they do which means we are more likely than not to lose...per vegas. They also have them winning more games than we do over the course of the season. So if we are trusting Vegas, we should be worried. I am not.
  13. IF our young QBs are equivalent I think we win the game. I think our defense is more complete, less injured and in second year of development. Now a lot of people have Darnold as ahead of Allen in terms of development, not to say either of their developments are done. I think its going to be a great litmus test. If we get Allen like he played against the Panthers I believe we win. But if that was a preseason mirage then I could easily see the Jets winning, with our offense struggling (although doesnt mean itll stay like that all year).
  14. If I go out with a couple and they start arguing over who ate the appetizers or splitting it up I know im going to avoid going to dinner with them in the future. Either split it 2-3 ways or we will pay and figure out some venmo possibly. If we all had a good time we are likely to do it again and itll all come out in the wash.
  15. Yea but at least there is a connection, no matter how silly, with the name and again...the logo. And I know lots of teams dont have a connection to the city and I think those names stink. Steelers, Dolphins, 49ers, Cowboys...good names. Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets (especially coupled with the Houston Astros) are good names. I just think as a start up team you should TRY to connect to your new fanbase. Im not watching the XFL either way though so overall I dont really care.
  16. Well honestly I always thought the Bills was a lame name. But Im sure that youve heard of Buffalo Bill Cody, where the name came from. Also the logo is a Buffalo, which is pretty well connected to the city, since its name is Buffalo.
  17. Some of the logos are alright (Roughnecks, Renegades) but the names are awful. IMO teams should try to make connection to the city somehow. The Wildcats, Dragons, Vipers? Those are so stupidly generic awful names.
  18. Ive got a 7 week old boy at home and its been a major adjustment. Things have settled down now but I couldnt imagine this x4. One will always need to be fed/changed/crying/etc. I might have just bought a one way ticket to Fiji and not looked back.
  19. Bohl was in Wyoming in 2014. But that doesnt matter really IMO. Yes Bohl certainly played a part in getting both of them drafted into the NFL. He certainly isnt a schlub but Im also not going to call Bohl anything spectacular either. I think that fact that Allen was so raw as a prospect coming out shows that the level of coaching he received was good but not the best. I think better coach would have won more games. Good recruiting tool for Bohl though
  20. Well Carson Wentz wasnt even the starter when Craig Bohl was the coach so while Im sure he had a hand in developing him, Carson did the majority of his developing on his own/after he left for Wyoming. Allen was developed under him though but everyone agreed that Josh was extremely raw as a passer and his main draw was his high ceiling because of his size, athleticiscm and arm strength, none of that is a product of coaching. So Im not gonna anoint Craig Bohl as some QB magician. I think its probably coincidence more than anything. Look at Lincoln Riley. He just developed two back-to-back #1 overall picks.
  21. By emphasis on O-line since do you mean losing Wood and Incognito and replacing them with below replacement level talent and trading away Cordy Glenn? Also MLB isn't interior defense, especially in todays NFL when north-south LBers are useless. While Beane wasn't the GM during the draft three seasons ago, he was there for the rest and made the Sammy/Darby trades. So those moves count for him. This year is the first year they've focused on O-line. They have not built from the inside out. They focused on getting the cap in good shape and getting a QB and now are focusing on filling in around the QB with an O-line and weapons.
  22. Im not denying that. Im saying that by taking a snippet of a quote from a random SD player that is not verbatim and not providing the question that was asked of the SD player or any other part of the quote, before or after, you quite literally took the quote out of context.
  23. You literally took it out of context...
  24. Its not true and this conspiracy theory garbage needs to be stopped. It is the opposite of a "great debating point". Nobody has any proof on either side and the only possibility is that it leads to arguing about race and eventually politics.
