What they said!  BPA @ 32!

    And I mean it, but let’s elaborate... Probably No: P, K, S, QB, LB, G, RB...maybe C too....

meaning we could go best: WR,  TE, OT,  DT, DE, or CB available.

i tip my hat to those who say DE or CB because I understand it, but I wouldn’t limit myself....

Maybe even LB if we could get a true blue-chipper somehow....

The Bills drafted guys that took a really long time.... I’m still waiting on Edmunds (I know he was an alternate pro bowler but he is raw in a lot of ways) ....Oliver doesn’t look like things are clicking,  Allen is one of the most valuable players in the league and I’m not complaining but he was a long-time developer and he STILL is going to get better maybe much better. Now, Epenesa has to switch sides, right to left and that’s a difficult switch that takes time to master, so it’s going to take him awhile.

Maybe next year we could draft someone with a short adjustment period?

Is Williams the answer at RT? I still haven’t noticed anyone beat him. Can we sign him? Can he run block? I haven’t noticed how he run blocks either way but the line in general can’t get push if the DL is thinking run. I think they are getting better at it week to week though.

  2. I’d say we got killed in the run more than the pass and it washere where Tremaine Edmunds stunk. He didn’t see where Henderson was going and seldom met him in the hole. It is debatable to fans whether his job is simply to watch a gap or find the ball but at some point you have to see the runner go right and he should go to meet him, he did not. He was also very easily taken out of plays by any type of blocking KC and he seemed to not try to beat it, he simply gave up.

Edmunds drove me crazy most of the game (when the Bills were on D).

i don’t care what anybody sez, You don’t need all-22 to watch Edmunds. Henderson just kept cutting back from the called hole, and no one was there, over and over. Edmunds would stand behind the pile as Henderson ran down feild.

  3. I think scouts missed that a QB could be great while not having traditional QB stances and footwork. To be honest, I don’t understand how he does it either. He’s just so strong he just gives the ball a little push and wham, it’s a bomb.

I was never a anti-fan of Allen, I’m too big of a Bills fan. Once we drafted him, I just supported him.

I learned more and more and more since we’ve had him. But his footwork is completely unconventional imho, but it works .

I really think McD and Beane and Daboll especially, did a fantastic job bringing him along slowly and surely.

the weird thing is, he is definitely still getting better and he does things no QB ever did before with his unique blend of size, and strength with speed and athleticism.  How good could he get?  It’s possible he gets better than MaHommes imho... Say, like the middle of next season.... He does these things, and we think he’s crazy, or out of control, but I think he can do them. We are missing plays not really catching on, that no QB did these things before.

I love this video. It shows how Allen's mechanics and footwork have changed from 2019 to 2020, and how he's reading defenses better.

I enjoyed that. I thought it was well-written and performed and had some nice humility in there as well.

    thanks.

I’ve been a big Kroft supporter since he’s been here. We’ve never really seen him play. I hope he’s featured a little for this Ram game

He played about 30 snaps last week if I remember correctly, he helped block on a few of those longer runs by Singletary and Moss. I hope we go to him Sunday, I really do. I like him to at least get targeted for a TD tomorrow. I think he’ll catch it. He’s big, tall, a very good blocker and athletic for someone that size, I hope we go to him but the problem has been he blocks too well. We don’t have an over abundance of good blocking skill players, so.... We have him block.

2021 is setting up to potentially be a good draft for TE with a couple worthy of going in the 1st round/early 2nd

i would love to see Kolar or Freirermuth in a Bills uniform

Allen is showing he is the franchise. Its time to keep adding tools to his toolbox - continue adding talent to the OL to protect him and pass catching weapons. Those two positions should be our focus rounds 1/2, then we can get a LB or CB rounds 3/4

I’m with you 100%. If we can get a great two-way TE, go get him. If Knox turns out great we’ll have two.

  7. Deon Lacey is a very good ST LB, so he may give us a lift there. Even if Milano starts, he has a hammy, so it’s very possible he doesn’t last long. Edmunds never lost the red jersey all week and no one has speculated as to what’s wrong with him so I put him at 50/50 because while he was in red, he practiced all three days at least some. Both will talk it over with trainers and coaches Sunday morning. I’m hoping for at least one to play. If both play, I think the Bills could shock theworld and win easy.... 31-20. Pretty boastful comment for a guy who hasn’t posted lately.....but Allen is a force of nature and Miami’s O played better than everyone thinks last week.

id venture ill wait as the sample size grows before diving in on that projection. im guessing KO doesnt stick at 104 rating long term. his career is 81.3 and highest season is 87.5. if you go with that best season, it bumps us to 12.

While i agree the sample size is small and we've had a couple easier matchups, the classic QB rating (which I think is what we're talking about; not QBR) is more of a function of an offense than a QB..... Perhaps Kyle has found a better team or is a late bloomer or both....

  9. I am in Taxachusetts for business and you can't believe the hand-wringing about the Patriots on their sports radio programs. The whining includes:

    - Tom Brady is no longer Tom Brady. He's hitting the wall.

    - Brady looks only to one or two receivers and that's it. He either hates all the other guys or has no confidence in them. Amendola has like 16 yards receiving because Brady refuses to go to him.

    - The offensive line stinks. Can't generate a running game so it all falls on the QB. Protection is horrible. Calls to bring in Richie Incognito!

    - Play calling is a joke.

    - The total surrounding cast for Tommy Boy is substandard.

    - Gronk is not healthy.

Love it! Next time I hear Buffalo radio announcers ready to go over the Falls because EJ had a tough day, I'm going to listen to WEEI to feel better.

Love it, though it sounds an awful lot like Bills' fans....,

    Go Bills!

  10. We have to improve at guard and QB and our defense has to gel, especially the back seven. Those three things and injuries are the only things I can think of holding us back.

The top three are very doable. The line hardly know eachother yet, and there is Richardson who will improve and if Pears doesn't improve there is always Urbik.

EJ had a few questionable passes plus a horrid series, the one where woods had to make an exceptional play to prevent an inteception... That series coulda cost us, but EJ is learning and gaining confidence all the time... I think he could easily get good enough to be the guy.... He is so much better than last year which shows he can improve; he has all the tools, why can't he keep getting better and better?

The back seven improvements are kinda obvious, they are very young and largely new or newer, with a new coordinator. Gilmore is coming off three injuries and is going to need time to gain confidence in his body.

If they get a chance to get and stay healthy and truly gel, we should have a much better D than last year and that is saying a lot. I think they'll keep big plays down and really increase turnovers by hard hitting (toughness) and route jumping (know-how) etc.

  11. It already appears as though most people are down on this team (and probably some players) before the season has even started. With the amount of talent that currently exists, doesn't that sound a little odd? Nobody really knows how good (or bad) this Bears team may be but as far as I'm concerned, there has not been a bigger, more important game in many years. If 12 year olds are booing this team in pre-season, how long before 70K plus turns on this team if things go South in the home opener. Now imagine what the atmosphere would be like if the team came home 1-0 after an impressive victory in Chicago. The confidence of the team and the electricity of the crowd would most likely compare to that of the Dallas Monday nighter a few years back.

I truly think more is riding on this Chicago game than many might believe. If there is to be a losing scenario, EJ has to look good in doing so. Is it only one game? Yes, but if there was ever ONE game to springboard a season, this is going to be it. I am looking at this one as a playoff game and as crazy as that may seem, if they pull it off, you are going to see a playoff like atmosphere in only week 2 of this ever so critical season.

You make a good point, sir. I myself, pointed out that I am glad we are opening on the road cuz god help him in Buffalo if he starts slow.... My god, he played 10 nfl games already, four in a row once. He should be just like peyton manning by now.

  12. Personally, I don't much care for his play calling. Example - I seems like he likes to throw a lot on 3rd and 1 or 3rd and 2. I run the ball there more times than not. I may run a draw out of shotgun, but I prefer to run there. I didn't like the call last year where Tuel was passing in that goalline situation where he threw that game altering interception. I blame Hacket for half the fault there. There are many times in many games where I was perplexed over the choice of plays. Run run pass punt. Run run pass punt. Stuff like that...

Secondly I don't much care for his game planning. I don't think he designs his offense to fit the players' skills. I think he has an offense he insists on running and tries to get whatever players he has to fit into that scheme. In my mind, that is bad coaching. That is why I don't care for him.

I say that based on last year's play not on this year's preseason.

If the offense looks a lot better this year and moves the chains while mixing in some deep pass attempts, then I will be fine with him. Based on his first year, he is off to a bad start. We will know more by midway through this season.

He knows what kind of line he has and what kind of line the opponent has. The Bills O-line has trouble getting push in short yardage situations. I am sure he prefers running for first downs too.

  13. I think letting both levitre and rhinehardt go without replacing either is a better way to communicate what happened than signing legursky.

Going into last season with no depth at CB and only four viable linemen.

    Hated the Kolb signing.

Should Chris Williams turn out to be as bad as PFF sez he is, i think in this day and age, the GM has to go. I watched him in the first two preseason games and while he doesn't really impress, he didn't suck either....

I don't blame him at all re: Byrd, he wanted out; f### Byrd.

I think we are very weak at TE. The plan didn't work at all. I think Lee Smith is our best TE right now. I think Lee Smith is a very good #2 TE....not what you want in a #1 at all.

Right now, the O-line doesn't block any better than last year.

If hughes gets a lot of sacks, they have to sign him or get a lot using the F-tag....

My thoughts are EJ is playing very well compared to last year, I think he might make it, especially if the line gels. I think (after having drafted EJ) whaley did the right thing by doing all he could do to help EJ..... I read a great article once that explained that the rookie QBs that make it, generally have the team to do so. Aside from guys like Luck, I think they are right.

I hope the line stays healthy and gels.

    I hope EJ stays healthy.

    I hope the secondary gels.

I hope Schwartz has a very clever defense that changes week to week to match opponents.

I want to our whole starting offense on the field together for the first time and at 100%.

I want to see CJ get a lot of plays in a row.

    Sammy. (That is all).

I want to see Super go all our.

I want to see our special teams look sharp and win one (starting in week one).

  14. I believe it was Andy Warhol who said that in the future, anyone who has ever thrown a spiral will have a thread dedicated to them on an internet football forum.

I am not sure I like the sentiment, but I like the writing...

I believe it was Andy Warhol who said that in the future, anyone who has ever thrown a spiral will have a thread dedicated to them on an internet football forum.

I am not sure I like the sentiment, but I like the writing...

Through two games, Terrelle Pryor has thrown 20 passes for 147 yards (7.35 per attempt) and run 3 times for 87 yards and a touchdown.

By comparison, EJ Manuel has thrown 47 passes for 263 yards (5.6 yards per attempt) and only added 8 yards rushing.

Maybe Manuel is the better prospect, but the difference is not as great as many on this board might suspect. EJ's unwillingness to run makes him one-dimensional. And that dimension is not good. Conversely, Pryor has a big arm and a nice throwing motion to develop with enough athleticism to win games as a back-up in the mean time.

Leaving that more provocative discussion aside, why did Russ Brandon and Doug Whaley decide to enter 2014 with the worst QB depth chart in the NFL? Was it to boost EJ's confidence? Incompetence? Over estimation of Tuel and Lewis? Pryor is an athletic freak who was available as an unrestricted free agent at the league minimum.

That is a good question. I hope the answer is not that they thought they were good. Because then we are in real trouble. My guess is they knew EJ would be rough looking in his rawness and that, that would take time to fix. Perhaps they were looking for personalities more than QBs. Two guys who would give the company line no matter what and support EJ no matter what. One way to make sure of that is to get QBs that real can't beat him.

Maybe, after this season, should EJ do well, he'll be ready for some competition and if he crumbles we start again all over..... Get rid of fred, super and Kyle and rebuild for another four years.....

I should quit watching football anyway.....

  15. It's PRE-SEASON fooball folks.

Why in God's name would you want to show anything meaningful? This isn't about impressing the fans.

Blaming the offenses ability to score on the play calling is beyond stupid.

I think the problem maybe is that you can tell the Bills are pressing. We kept our starters in there for quite a while. I'm not saying the Bills are giving it all they have, but Marrone clearly wanted to win that game and he clearly wanted seven badly. I think the reason Aaron Williams was in there in the third quarter was two-fold, he is not playing as well as they would like and they wanted a vet in there to call the defense (so we would win). More On defense, Big Ben tore us apart. He had over 3 seconds on that TD pass beating Gilmore, yet everyone is blaming Gilmore. Sure, Gilmore is having a bad summer to date but, the story in Pittsburgh is you cannot give a good QB over 3 seconds. Nobody is talking about this though but if that is Schwartz's D we're in trouble. Pettine knew how and when to blitz, I am not sure Schwartz understands this. I know it sounds a little crazy, but consider that the last coordinator we had that knew how to do this was Greg Williams. That's a lot of coordinators in between. I am so used to seeing the Bills blitz not get even close, watching things like Bills players running into the backs of other Bills or right into blockers ALL the time.. I saw a couple Bills blitzes against Pitt. And they were not pretty. When we rushed four, we didn't get close. I think the most depressing thing about the stealers game, was our defense; BiG Ben scored easy.... That game was not all about EJ and the offense, there is plenty of concern on both sides of the ball.

How bad were the Bills trying to win is a good question, we'll find out in Chicago....

  16. This year they had to replace Byrd and Stevie...next year it could be Hughes and Spiller?

They could probably sign him for half the money of Mario, and get the same production or more.

You cannot keep letting guys go, and drafting their replacements every year, it has gotten them nowhere. Instead of trading Stevie and drafting his replacement, they could have drafted a pass-rusher and kept Stevie.

So, now...they go into next year already having to spend a draft pick on a replacement player.

I just cannot wrap my head around it.

I thought the way you did the day of the draft. I was mad we didn't get that LB from buffalo when we traded up.

Now I understand why he did it. Whaley's most important job is making a QB out of Manuel. Stevie can't fit this offense as it is. This offense is precise and a lot of it is timing. Stevie's route running clashed with this and they can't spend time with Manuel explaining Stevie runs his own routes etc. on top of that Stevie had a miserable year, truly awful and his penchant for dropping passes at keys times came up again. He was always nicked up in 2012 too.

To make a franchise QB (that isn't brady manning or luck) you do everything you can to help them get better. Should EJ make it, Whaley deserves a ton of credit. I can see that M Williams and Sammy are making EJ get better. He just can't let those two down. Whaley really did an outstanding job on that offense in two years, I think we have a chance.

And he didn't neglect the D that much in doing it. Man, if we still had Kiko that D would look so dangerous. Just think, it still looks very formidable.....that's a good D to lose an impact player.....

I am all in on finding ways to keep Jerry, but Whaley made the right calls building this offense imho... God bless him.

  17. If it were me, I'd make him a top priority. That means having a talk with Super Mario, or whatever it takes. I don't know how Mario's contract is set up, but Jerry Hughes is just entering his prime. I mean, the Bills have to look at age here.

He is also our best pass rusher. He is what everybody in the NFL tries to get; a guy who can beat a LOT with some consistency. You just can't replace a guy who can do that, they are very rare, we must keep him if we are to be (and remain) a top club.

I just can't believe Doug Whaley would just let him walk away, that would nuts.

At minimum, we should get a number one draft pick to take the franchise tag off him. He is worth a lot more than a number one pick. Anybody who doesn't think so, you will in a couple months if you pay attention to the line.

    Go Bills!

  18. Concerns about Gilmore.... Nobody reported how he did yesterday which is disappointing..... He is still coming back from injuries now and he still has plenty of time to get his time back.... I wouldn't worry about the rule changes as Gilmore is a freakish athlete every bit as much as a big and strong CB..... Now, is not the time to panic.....

Can't wait to see the whole secondary and playing together with nobody coming off injury or anything like that. To see them playing together for two weeks or so....then a preseason game (or even regular season).

I think the back end of our secondary is going to change from week to week all year.... The injuries alone will do a lot, but certain players are better at certain things..... I wonder if Robey loses time in week one.... I wouldn't be surprised at all with the size of Chicago's weapons.... If healthy, we probably will have Graham at nickel, Searcy at LB, Brooks at Dime,

I think you need a lot of big corners/small LBs/ fast Safeties to match up with Chicago....

We play a team like Pittsburgh with a lot of smaller WRs Robey will shine....

  19.

I'm concerned about both starting corner back positions. These new rule changes hurt them, especially Gilmore with his physical style of play.

****, at the rate the NFL is going with the way they want "big, explosive plays" there won't even be a corner back position in a few years. It's really getting stupid, why continue to fix something that isn't broke?

I think the NFL is reacting (maybe overly so) to Seattle's superbowl. The way the corners played, there were years when all of that, clutch, grab and mug defense would have called interference....

Now, I am still trying to figure out that penalty on Gilmore vs. The panthers....
