  1. LOL, I turned on the tv and espn 2 went on because of the nhl draft. F***ers had a top ten list with this Lou commentating after a girl read off the names. It went like this.... #4 Stephan Diggs......then nothing!!! Lou said nothing finally the girl said something very briefly and they went on.....LOL.....

i still say the Bills are popular National If a fan poll were to be taken... favorite second team in the NFL....

i dont have one personally. I wanted to make it the rams but they're crazy and that injury to their RB was huge. Just a huge loss for them. I like the whole nfc west both as a fan and I think they're very good; all four teams. I loved SF's front four but they too are messed-up. They couldn't retain their DT, lost two to injury, who knows?but they're a defense comes first team and I love that. Seattle is OK and has Warner. AZ. is really exciting this year with the old guys.

I think the Bills are a full notch ahead of these four teams but the whole NFC West is playoff caliber.

i used to like the packers a bit because they're not owned, but I really don't like whiny, complaining, it's not my fault, rogers.

Josh just needs to be better in the playoffs - that's the only next step I need to see from him.  Dabol needs to not entertain job offers during championship prep week.  The rest of that segment was time I will never get back.

Did Daboll do that? I can't for sure remember? I agree with you if true. Our whole offense is Daboll taking the time to set chumps up, and break down defenses.

Having said all that, all ourweapons we're injured last season and it is this season where we prepare to develop talent to keep on going plus get more healthy talent. Sanders will be a huge add for us as long as he stays healthy, he should be our clear #2. Beasley goes to three, both Diggs and Beasley's touches go down this year while Sanders and the guys at the bottom of the roster at skill positions touches go up.....Singletary, Moss whoever wins #3 RB, McKenzie was pretty good last year maybe he stays around the same or goes down because he is the KR/PR .... Hodgins or whoever wins #6 on the roster should play and help a lot as other players get banged up. Maybe our stupid TEs step it up this year? Can they block? Can they catch?

    This is nonsense

Roberts was consistently strong on returns and got us out to midfield or beyond several times.  The days of teams having returners like Devin Hester breaking multiple 100 yard kickoff returns per year are long past.  I'll gladly settle for consistent sustained strength

Additionally, our punt returns were also strong and McKenzie hit a home run in Week 17

We had a huge yardage season from Bojorquez, who while he has his ups and downs, was definitely more up than down last year

Bass broke out as a rookie, hit several long FG's with a decent FG %, and also boomed his kickoffs

Our kickoff and punt coverage teams were solid all year and definitely top echelon

We didn't have any kicks blocked and our long snapper was perfect

We have an excellent special teams unit with strong coaching and focus from head coach and GM

What more could we possibly want out of this unit?

The Bills ranked #8 in Rick Gosselin's Special Teams Rankings for 2020 in the Dallas Morning News....So......we're pretty damn good.

I would stilll like to be #1 though..... Imho, Roberts took at least six out that he had no right doing and Bojo is comically overrated because he is a horrible short punter and his shanks are very untimely.

    Go Bills!

The Rams would make a lot of sense due to their unfortunate luck with Akers. The Bills got too many RBs with comparable talent/skill. Time for the Bills to clean up the roster and get ready for a big time RB, if not this year in some kind of trade or acquisition then in next year’s draft. The Rams are pretty generous with their draft picks anyways so why not take it and run (no pun intended)?

The Rams still have D. Henderson and there are backs on the FA market. If we had a back to trade that was a full notch better than Henderson they'd bite and make the trade, imho, but I don't know if Singletary is that guy?

On the other hand, I fully expect Singletary to start for us and go back to his rookie yds./attempt # of 5.1. That is NFL awesome compared to anyone. We just to have to put the practice time, play design time into the run game to get Singletary back to that mark. Fans don't seem to appreciate how Devin gets ten yards plus So often. Maybe he makes it look too easy?

Having said that!!! I don't think Devin is in Cam Akers class nor Fred Jackson's. He's good though.... we'll see how he does this year. As far as making third and short, I think that is more of a team deficiency although Fred would just make the one yard on his own all the time. Judging RBs is difficult....

Bottomline: no way anybody gives us more than we spent on Devin.

And! If the Bills decide to spend big on a FA next year to get us a SB, it is going to be a defender. There is no doubt in my mind. The Bills will make certain Allen has weapons, but keep it in the middle of the road category as long as we have Diggs. We need Allen plus Diggs and a lot of moderate NFL talent. Allen and Diggs are major blue chippers. Sanders, Beasley, Davis are solid red chippers, we need to develop more red chippers: Knox, Singletary, Moss, in that order, McKenzie, Hodgins, etc....

Maybe the Bills will develop another Blue-chipper this year or later? Both Hodgins and the sixth rounder this year have some elite skills, you never know. Diggs was a fifth rounder..... Maybe Davis turns into a Fitzgerald this year? His comparable and Gabriel's idol. Who knows? He'd have to show those stellar hands again but a tad more consistently, that ability to break loose in coverage, and then toughness and blocking supremacy.

Great teams draft great over time, We need our drafts to pick us up this year if we are going to win a SB. Particularly the defense where most of the high picks went. C'mon White, Milano, TJ, Tremaine, Ed O, AJ, Groot And Boogie!

For one thing I think it is really hard for any of us to compare Tremaine to most other LBs as we don't see them that much.

Having said that, while Edmunds appears irreplaceable to this defense right now, he also always shows shortcomings in taking on blocks or finding and getting  the ball for us.

I hope we can sign him for less as contracts like that make it hard to win SBs....

If you're Beane, how do you make a case that he is not worth that kind of money?

We need to knock off a couple mill from that at least....

Why can't he just be a clone of Brian Urlacher and then we would happily pay top dollar.

    Make it clear, Tremaine!

I saw the title and thought this would be a thread about the defense - Lean and mean, or no?

In fact, I think that IS the question about the defense.  It's a defense, physically and in terms of style, that's designed be tough to pin down - really quick off the ball, attacking in multi-faceted ways, and quick to the ball.  To play that way, they will be short on bulk.  They aren't going have many immovable objects on the field.

The question is whether they'll be mean enough.  Whether they come out every weekend with enough fight in them to over come what might be size and strength disadvantages at certain matchups.  They'll be smart and well coached.  Will they be scrappy?

I don't think we are real quick to the ball at all. We take away the big play and keep the ball in front of us waiting for numbers, imho....While we get some negative plays, they're usually strung out or coverage sack negative plays.

For better or worse, Tremaine Edmunds is the heart & soul of our defense imho.... I am not one of those fans that thinks he bad nor am I a big fan. What I like is his huge size which gives him the ability to make his tackles stick. Our safetiesare small and so is Milano so it's comforting to have a big guy downfield. He's super athletic as well. What I don't like is that I don't think I have ever seen him take on a block and win in his entire Bills career, that and he doesn't seem to have a nose for the ball. Like a lot of fans, I think he would have become a household name as a 3-4 OLB that often rushed the passer. I think our defense doesn't help him develop a nose for theball as he is asked to play very safe most of the time. He'd be better attacking not reacting, imho...Even though he still can't beat blockers....It doesn't seem like he even tries to beat a block often, he just goes with the lineman....

I admit I wanted a another Brian Urlacher after we traded up to get our two captains and that is not fair to Edmunds but Iabsolutely loved watching Urlacher play.... So good at everything all the time. If Tremaine could take a big step up (he definitely could use a more successful line!) this year, he would give us a chance vs. KC. Everybody thinks Mahomes is why they beat us but it clearly is KC's defense that separates us. Especially if our offense is healthy this year. With Allen, Diggs, Sanders, Beasley, Davis, Singletary and Knox all playing behind a healthy O-line, it might not matter that KC's defense is good. We might be able to just outscore them. Maybe we could win the ST battle? I think KC has excellent STs too though....

I still can't believe Tampa handled them like they did....

With his injury history over the past couple seasons, it would be a gamble to rely on him to start and take the majority of the snaps. As a rotational piece with Star, he'd be perfect. Especially given our lack of depth at 1-Tech. And our affinity for Carolina Panthers 😛 I'd be surprised if we weren't one of the teams in on this.

But he played with Star, not the same position I am told. I guess KS is a three-tech more than anything else.

Can I get some confirmation on this?

Ithink we need the bruising 1-tech more.....

  8. Still too worried about running out of weapons like we did last year. I also think Knox will always have, "ball" problems....

while I am positive the Bills D probably needs that blue-chipper along the D-line, I don't think KS is the guy. Give me Zach Ertz instead.

Having said that, honestly, I really have no idea as to what KS can bring to this D? Even Kyle Williams disappeared playing in it. What about that???

  9. So Kwame is a 3-tech?!  Should we sign him, what does it say about our starting 3-tech?

Imho, the Bills need a beast in the middle. A big man like Deforest Buckner or Cam Heyward. I know, duh! Of course we need great defenders and those two are two of the best but I would love to see either one in a Bills uni.

or Chris Jones.... He is double help for us taking him off thechefs and on to our team. I'd bet $500.00 even we would beat the chefs if we magically got Jones and they lost him. He is very good and whatwe need. C'mon AJ, Boogie and Groot! Show some special talents this fall. Flashes at least!

I’d love to bring him in and see what he has…..as long as we can sign Steven Nelson too.  That’s the guy we really need imo

It really is strange that we haven't yet brought in a vet for the LCB job. Even if they love the pair they have, you definitely need a third guy for camp. Not convinced at all Wildgoose is a good third option....

  11. If we do sign Short it has to be poor Harrison Phillips. Only DT left without guaranteed money.....

Zimmer would be done as well.

I have no idea if it would be wise or not to sign Short. Anybody watch him play a lot over the last three years?

Are there ANY FBs left in the league??  🤪

San Fran has a great one I wish was a Bill.

His connections to McDermott, the DL coach, like 1/2 our DL… seems like a possibility

Not to mention we are a SB favorite..... I gotta confess, I never watched him play.....On another thread, I just daydreamed that it was the Bills who got Deforest Buckner from the forty-niners..... Did Short ever resemble DB? What kind of player is he? Now and at his best? What position does he play exactly?

Give me Deforest (or Chris Jones away from the chefs) and I will give you a Super Bowl trophy.....

I'd take that DT on the stealers as well....or their end....Watt. I think either one puts us over the top.

What can Short do for us?

    Anybody?

Vernon Butler would be my guess. Especially with Star coming back I think he is expendable.

Nah, I think his cash is guaranteed like Addison's, no ?

  13. Cam Akers was ready to have a special season. This is a huge loss for the rams.... Akers = quality.

That 2nd round pick quality our thirds lack. I'm good with our thirds though....in fact, while we have no Fred Jacksons in the room, it does go five deep with guys that can be effective in the NFL, imho....

I think Singletary can average over five / this year. Which is pretty damn amazing when you realize he is going to get you some zeroes and is really not what you want on third and one..... Devin gets ten + in a blink though.... He makes the first tackler not even touch him..... He's an underrated Bill.

  14. Let me ask you all a question, who has a better defense, the Bills or the ravens?

Lindy's Pro Football has them up by a two point margin.

plus better STs, better OL and better RBs....

I think over the course of last season, Baltimore clearly had the better D but in the playoffs, if you had to pick a winner, it was Buffalo.

Lindy's only gives our secondary a 7.5 (out of ten) whereas Baltimore gets a 8.5. Baltimore gets a full point more at DL as well.

It is my great hope and desire that we get a better grade at OL and DL next year. RB as well.

We won't get a better OL grade until we can create a hole on a clear running play like a third and one... not all the time but once in a while at least..... We have the threat of Allen keeping and still can't open a hole and hence the low grade even though we were superb at pass-blocking.

We all know DL has to get better at run and pass. Everyone but Jerry And this is Jerry's last hurrah....so we have tons of room to improve here. We did NOT notice an increase in play due to our new coach there.

I hope Devin Singletary can establish himself as a legit NFL RB this year. So we go to a 7.5 there from a 6.5 we have now.

If you're writing a magazine do you ignore regular season or count it when giving out grades.

I think it's weird how bad we get without Milano or Edmunds.....maybe not this year as we brought in some guys....we'll see...

It's just where they are in their development as players

Rousseau has the physical tools but his game is lacking the refinement of Chase young

Rousseau is going to have to develop a bevy of pass rush moves AND counters at an NFL level

Chase Young had a crazy nuanced pass rush game coming out. A legitimate gameplan of attack... He can bend and dip , he can attack inside ... Spin inside and out.. swim ..he has power..  he has a counter to the offensive lineman's counter.. which is impressive

That's why he was the consensus#1

Well, I think Groot is the guy who we're  all waiting to see this summer. I hope he shows at least some first round athleticism.... A lot would be awfully exciting..... How old is Groot? I think he's just a baby, right? Not as young as Tremaine when he first came out but young right?

The Bills went after big and tall Trent Murphy but he didn't do much as a Bill.....They have their second big and long piece of clay to work with. Hopefully, Tremaine, Ed O, AJ, Boogie And Groot have us drooling to see the Bills next season. Maybe we even keep our special teamer, DE That is still young Somehow. Maybe something clicks for him this year?

Then maybe, after losing Jerry, Addison and Star from the books we can afford an impact player to join the, And we go on to win a SB with both O and D!

(not really sure about our STs....we invest a ton but only get so much it seems....IDK? I would guess we're in the top ten....)
