Alphas Final Roster Stab (after PS game 3)
billybrew1 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills WANT to trade a DE, but I don't know if Beane can pull t off. With AJ,Groot and Boogie off the table, I'm not sure what the demand is. Then we have to consider whether Beane would dump one of his Carolina Cousins off this SB contender, I'm not sure that that is part of the process? Is Addison no longer a protected Bill because he underachieved last season? I thought he had a pretty good excuse but maybe there aren't any? John Brown WAS injured last year and now he is a raider. Bam Johnson seems like the best candidate to trade, but what is he worth? I D K? I think he is worth at least a fourth rounder, maybe more. But I don't think we can get that. Addison maybe can help us this year. But he eats a lot of cap. I can't see getting much of anything for him though. But Beane traded Lee Smith and his contract for a seventh so anything is possible. I wonder if Lee would still be here if he agreed to a pay cut? It will be very interesting to see what the Bills actually do. There are a lot of contentious spots including: DE, RB, WR, DT, and even CB. If I was Beane I'd be looking for help at DT and CB. I don't think Lewis is a NFL CB at all. I worry that Harry is finished. I worry that teams are going to attack us in our soft middle all year long. I could be wrong about it being too soft though....we'll see. I know Klein is going to play quite a bit to combat this strategy. I think we could play that 5-2 we occasionally show as well. I like the 5-2 and Basham at DT with two real DTs seems exciting. Question.... To what extent can our ends play tackle? Against the run? IDK? I could see Basham doing that but maybe that's it. Though Efe is pretty big and used to it. LOL, And Groot did that a lot last year but only in a pass rushing role. Im going to enjoy that Pittsburgh game whether we win by one or thirty. I think it will be somewhere in between even though I have a lot of respect for that team and defense. What Stealer fans don't understand I think is that Allen really is a top three player in the NFL and McBeane has surrounded him with enough talent that he can hit his ceiling. That bodes poorly for Pittsburgh and their reliance on defense. Allen is going to shred it anyhow. -
I think the draft was strong at both OT and end. We want to build a dominant defense with lots of ends (though I understand seven is too many, they are looking at the big picture.) to move inside on passing downs. Our defense was statistically much better when Star played. It was 2nd, 3rd, then fell to ~ 14 last year.l I can't really say why watching Star, but the numbers changed a lot. We have Two backup OTs (the rookies) and two back up interior players (Boetger And Bates). It worked out just fine.. Dane Jackson hardly played last year so nobody knew including the coaches. Josh also has talent in spades to go along with everything else. He is full of spades. I don't think we caught KC either but I Billieve were a lot better including Josh. I think we have a good chance. Im worried about the defense. Last January, Allen really didn't have his weapons with him. He ought to be fully loaded come week five (or at least I hope he has them.) But Allen's better. His weapons are better. His OL is better. His DL is better. Maybe Tremaine ....steps up this year. You can't judge by preseason. I predicted 14-3 and another loss in AFC Championship but I can also see us catching them. I see both possibilities. I think the Bills are the 3rd best team in the NFL right now. Im hoping Beane makes a move during cutdown maybe an End for a CB or DT? Still haven't ruled out Ertz by the trade deadline. Or maybe a different TE? Daryl Johnson has got a lot of pretty decent film out there of him playing DE this summer.... On top of that he is a Special Teams demon and a freak athlete. Does he have value on the trade market? Im not sure? Go Bills!

Could Tribusky play much more than most are thinking? Could heplay a lot in mop up roles this year? Go up by 21 and put Tribusky in? Put Allen safely on the bench and into the capable hands of Tribusky? Get Diggs and Sanders out too? As much as I like Tribusky (and think that he could do this) he s no Allen our clear MVP. Im saying we'd still be pretty good and would be safe this way. Maybe run more out from under center. But still throw if the D plays the run. We play a lot of teams I think we might go up big on early. Or! What is your price to trade Tribusky? Say Mitch is good with it..... Mine is a second and fourth rounder. That is enough to make us a player in the 2022 draft. We could finish this team and get another blue chipper. I'd love that in a trade. -

Allen also repeatedly beat bogus holding calls vs. Bills. These are Drive Enders for most offenses. Allen sees them as a nuisance that highly irritates him.... He is going to better. I know he's excellent already, but he is only entering season #4, so he should and improve. He will improve. He will also improve as the team around him improves. Ford is a good run blocker and that's going to help. Singletary seems committed to excellence and the work they have done this season ffseason practicing the run game. . Davis is no longer a rookie. Moss is no longer a rookie. Sanders is a huge add replacing an injured John Brown. The offense is being held together for another year. This helps tremendously. They really are only entering year three (at tops) so there is still a lot to learn together. The playbook is getting huge and they can refer to their history now. This is big too. We're deeper at WR. With Kumerow (and Sanders) being adapted to the offense fully now. And many useful WRs on the PS ready to call up. -
#1 next season. Go Bills!

GAME BALLS - Packers v. Bills, 08/28/21
billybrew1 replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
White & Hyde, with the fourth down tip away and INT. Our 6'6" DEs plus Boogie I liked them all. Yet they all have to get better and will. -
I predict Klein plays a helluva lot more than last year..... I think almost everyone is going to try to play keep-away from Josh. Maybe we'll even see that 5-2 we seldom show? I like it! Someone said to calm down that we play bend but not break and that person was right. We are going to have to ready to know it's OK for teams to move the ball between the twenties against us. The other team gets paid too. Go Bills!
-
The offense is better! Ford is a better run blocker. Sanders is a huge upgrade from an injured John Brown. Davis is a rookie no more (and looks like a vet now.) I think our RBs are committed to excellence and the real run game plays will show up vs. Pittsburgh. (Though we will always have dorky looking run plays out of the shotgun.) Our WR depth is better than last year, too! I think Kumerow and McKenzie are more ready to make an impact. Stevenson might make the team, too! And finally, Josh Allen is better than he was last year. Less mistakes, more clutch plays. We just have to keep him protected and give him like to of weapons! But those fans unworried that our defense might not be good enough are wrong. We HAVE TO BE BETTER ON D to beat the chefs. That means our edge players must impact the game with big plays and Tremaine has to take over at times. Edmunds must get better, imho, if we are to beat KC..... Defense still wins Super Bowls! KC's defense won that SB vs. SF. and Tampa's D won that SB last year.... You can go back further if you want.... Super Bowl winners must be balanced! We can do it.....

When you think about who maybe has some value and is tradeable at DE and the name that comes up is Daryl Johnson. He has a lot of preseason film this year, young, all-Star special teamer....would hurt to lose him. Maybe get a DT or CB back? I wonder how Phillips projects now? Something that is going to calm down or the end of his career? I feel a lot better at DT if Harry is a go.... I don't think any other ends are really tradeable. I think we want AJ, Boogie And Groot. Efe isn't worth much due to age I think. No one would trade for Addison or Hughes, imho.... Maybe a conditional seventh? The thing we would get is the cap space but I don't see anyone biting. Having said that, I thought Lee Smith was untradeable due to his contract and age. So....
-
Looking for something to say we're better than that Bills team from last year..... I saw... - #1 Sanders for sure. Can't wait till he's playing with Diggs (and Beasley and Davis.) - Davis looks ready to be a Star Vet..... - I saw the length of our DEs.... - Breida looks like a guy that we can run some O thru.... - Maybe some back up TEs? WTF were those holding calls??? That is all..... I was watching Edmunds and saw nothing impressive.... 😟 Maybe he needs the regular season? Anything else?
-
Plus, the rams lost a lot of talent to free agency....
-
I don't think the rams can do it. The highest seed they could get is #3 due to the tough NFC West, imho.... So they have to win on the road to get home field.
-
Really surprised you have Carolina in fourth, I say second. Minny in second easy. Defense will be better. O good. the NFC West is the best. Who knows who wins? Comes in last? Not me. I like Tampa easy in SB although I hate them. Ravens are winners and beat Browns somehow. The jags in second, why? Frank Reich is too good not be second there. I can see it, us catching KC, but everything would have to go right. and Allen wins MVP..... I hope we don't get taken out by covid. And things usually don't all go right so the chefs prolly beat us (again). KC over Bucs. Or everything does go right: Allen wins MVP. We avoid injuries. The pass rush works. Edmunds steps way up. Bills D finishes 3rd overall (in yards allowed). Third in turnover differential. #1 in points scored. Bills beat chefs twice. First in week five, 45 - 41. Then again in Buffalo: 41 - 33. Allen wins SB 51 - 33 over Tampa and wins MVP. Josh Is talked about as the best player in the NFL, bar none. i can see this and I bet a little t of other fans can see it too. Daboll just keeps churning WRs in and out of the lineup. Even Hodgins gets some during the year....The Bills add Zach Ertz at the trade DL. We are the most loaded weapon team in the league. Singletary and Moss combine for 1500 yds. rushing at a 5.1 yd./carry pace together. Daboll goes to..... Dallas. I could see this, could you? Go Bills!

Call your shot … who will get the #1 seed in the AFC?
billybrew1 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds like it could be a good game..... maybe, IDK? KC is #1 for good reason. -
Call your shot … who will get the #1 seed in the AFC?
billybrew1 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have to get better in every phase. I think it would have to be a very high scoring game and that Allen gets the last shot. The Bills D will have to force a turnover or two and/or special teams steals a possession. Allen would need his whole offense healthy and to play mistake free football. I think this could happen. But voted KC. As I think they still have the odds judging by our last meetings. However, where there's a will, there's a way. Go Bills! -
What about Hodgins? Is he cleared to play or not? i would love to see him get a lot of snaps tomorrow....
-
Tribusky VS. Allen - - - In the bears game I saw two plays that were incompletes for Tribusky that I feel would have definitely been TDs with Allen in there..... The plays would have been a complete to Singletary in the endzone and a complete to Davis at around the 8 that would have been a sure TD. And that my friends is a huge difference. Allen eats up TDs like blueberries. Yes, my fiends, we have the best backup QB there is and he might get better, but Josh is king and for good reason. We might have THE best QB in the NFL this season. What I think will determine that is the health of players around Mahomes, Allen and Rogers. PS - I remember fans laughing at me when I said Allen's going to be like Rogers. I saw the improvement. I saw that it would keep going. I saw that we had the GM to make it possible. PS - I think Miami should have made OL a bigger focus this offseason. Sure, they have four deadly weapons now but you need both; the line and the weapons. Beane got the right OC and OL coach and QB coach to boot. Miami's OC, Chan Gailey, retired, and they're are starting all over again. Not a good sign. So.... you have to do it all to create that QB. The QB needs the raw skills and desire and Allen scored a ten at each. Then you need the GM. Then you need the coaches. Then you need the OL. Then you need the skill. Then you have a QB! (Maybe, But Allen scoring a ten in raw skills and desire raised the percentages of developing a franchise QB to good. Who knows how good he'll get? He makes the NFL's best pass rushers look powerless at times. He can hit any spot on the field just about. I think he has the greatest range of possible completions in the NFL. And then if that's not there he can just take off and break a defenses heart. Go Bills!

It is hard for me to Billieve the Bills will be fine on the interior all year. Nearly every team we play is going to try hard to win the flock war and try to keep JA on the sidelines frustrated. Star only will play around one half of the game so that other one-tech has to really step up, so does the other three-tech. Then Milano and Edmunds really have to hit those gaps with authority. I don't know? I hope they're up to it all year..... I wish Harry was healthy. I hope Butler feels it....and can play low and win. Badham looked awesome on the breakdown but can he do it in the regular season? I hope McD, Leslie and the DL coach know what they're doing. Maybe Allen is so good he scores enough to make trying to sit him not really work? Once you're down 21 you really can't play that way.... IDK exactly why, but I think our O is even better than last year. That means we have to be healthier. That Sanders becomes a big cog. That the TE position contributes more. The RBs too. I think I'm in the minority, but I still want Ertz. I think it would help to have a lot of O go thru Ertz resting other key personnel. I rather it be Knox or Hollister, but I doubt their abilities. I think if Hollister goes off, it will be a huge NFL story. That LB's mom was a LB -kind of thing. Josh Allen's TE way back in 2016 is back tearing up the league for the first time in his careeer. We'll see how valuable Tre is or isn't at the end of this year. Personally, I think he deserves quite a bit less than the Indy LB.... Hopefully, Edmunds changing my mind this year (and we win a Super Bowl). Quick question. Do you think our current defense overall, whether good or bad, is ultimately linked to the play of the MLB? I do in a way, and don't in a way..... I do because everything in this defense comes thru the MLB. I think if he is having a pro bowl season, So is the defense in a very real way. Thusly, if he is having a terrible year..... But in another way, absolutely not. You could build this D with ten pro bowlers and only a decent MLB and clearly, it would still be very good. Its just a matter of how you look at it....
-
Yes, Aside from Allen, Tre is the guy who cannot get hurt. Then Dawkins, imho.... Someone said TE is the weakest and he's right, but I think DT as it is a more important hole to have. Again, not that we're terrible there, just not good. I wish Harry was 100% but he is not. So, maybe my revised list.... worst to first..... TE, DT, CB, OL depth (Boetger is are only rock, imho) IDK?.... RB, LB, S, WR, DE, QB? Maybe switch WR and DE but an injury to Diggs would be huge I think. And I think Beasley, Sander, And McKenzie are bit injury prone. We definitely have enough DE for the season. But we may no blue chippers here (at least, not yet. We'll see. I like AJ, Boogie And Groot And even Bam as his potential is up there. Those four could be our set for next season to be sure. Then there's Efe to consider..... Interesting group at DE I hope we end up with some true blue chippers. Right now, the Bills are almost a solid red team. No real weaknesses. Only three to five blue-chippers: JA, Tre, Diggs, Poyer And Dion. Poyer lacks the freak athleticism of most blue-chippers though.... though perhaps Poyer's freak talent is that he can take players down that outweigh him by 100# and not get injured! Knock on wood. No jinxes! A good way to look at the WR room: Diggs is a solid true-blue #1 WR. Sanders is a solid #2. Beasley a top #3. Davis an excellent #4, McKenzie an excellent #5. Kumerow an interesting #6. His special teams and blocking are excellent and they are weapons. He runs some good routes too and knows how to win with size, just an excellent #6. Stevenson is everything you want in a #7. Deep speed. Young, adequate size. STs ability. Very good Potential (hopefully coachable to move way up the list! And then it looks like (according to Joe B anyhow) that Hodgins has potential at WR as well. Can he play STs on the way? Interesting, interesting stuff. We need to be developing Stevenson and Hodgins all year!!! It is my hope anyway. (Stevenson has an injury record that the training staff has to work with but I think our training staff is the best in the league.)
