My one hope for the beginning of this year
billybrew1 replied to Kingston Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know the last game was a battle until TJ broke the game open, but I think Sanders is a player the Stealers won't have an answer for at all. I'm not saying Sanders is going to have a huge game, I'm saying whoever the Stealers plan on not giving enough help to is going to open each play because those four (Diggs, Beasley, Davis and Sanders) is too much. Especially for the Stealers but really any team. Even the dolphins who possess the most good corners in the league (I think). I think all four are big-time players for us. On defense, the Stealer line is weaker than the one we faced last season and our defense looked really good vs. them last season (for the most part). -
I'm already pre-proud of Singletary and Moss always taking the right blitzer and always taking him out. In empty sets, the Stealers won't get there in nearly enough time, someone is going to be very open. You can't cover Diggs, Beasley, Sanders and Davis, you just can't do it. I could envision a lot of PI calls against the Stealers trying KC's defense but we're healthy now and that ain't going to work. Josh might even have his pick of open targets. Could this game be the game that shows Bills fans the big gainer is part of the game plan this year? I mean not just throwing it but connecting on it..... with some regularity? Is it going to be as Stephon says? Is it going to be Diggs? Hmmmmm, sometimes. Mostly I think it's Sanders or even more likely, Davis.

Why?

1. Hayward is a monster. I sure hope we give Morse lotsa help. 2. I hope Williams is ready and Watt isnot. (See what I did there?) 3. We probably give yards between the twenties but who knows? Maybe Leslie let's his D play playoffs style from week one? We should be able to handle this OL. 4. Imho, Vernon isn't going anywhere. We need big, strong DTs and we need a lot of them. Too much of Butler's dough is guaranteed, we aren't replacing him. Vernon is a Bill. Go Bills! Unfortunately, I think the only way Stevenson gets up is if a WR goes down. I do not want to see that.... Stevenson.

Something to keep an eye on: Point differential?
billybrew1 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills, with an easier schedule this season and a better team will easily surpass the 100 point spread. End of story. Someone find something else footbally to talk about..... You know what sucks? Im all pumped-up for this season's Thursday's NFL's kickoff but it sucks that there is really no one to root for..... I absolutely despise Tampa now, end of story, they are my second most hated team. But who in their right mind could root for the cowboys? Ever? So.... it kind of sucks..... You have to root for one team I think, to enjoy a game a lot, so if put to the brink, who would you root for? i gotta say.... No, I can't do it? Imagine the press if the boys should win? It would go on for three weeks even if they lost the next two..... I couldn't stand that. But I'm not rooting for Tom baby either so.....??? What do I do? i can't not watch, can I? I dunno.... Why couldn't it be WTF vs. Tampa? Now there's a team I could get behind. Or..... Anyone from theNFC West. IDK? Just about anyone....aside from KC, Miami....who else? My most hated teams this year: Pats, KC (though I really don't ate them like the pats) Tampa, Miami And Dallas..... Thats the top five anyhow..... I have no second team.....though LA is likable I think and I live here..... I kind of like the competition in the whole NFC West. That's what I like. I think AZ is underrated along with Tennessee though I don't like either team. I wish KC/ Cleveland was the Thursday night game. Cleveland doesn't really scare me but that defense is drawing my attention. A pretty balanced team. I'd definitely root for them vs. the chefs. Mainly because I think that's best for the Bills. -

I think he should be taking tons of stuff away but really doesn't. He plays his zones too soft. He lets big-time receivers exit his zone and he watches no one instead of staying on a high percentage target. I think he needs to be better for sure. Maybe a lot better. I'm sorry, I want to be a huge fan, he is just not there. Too often he covers no one in the zone. I think if he IS supposed to do that, it is poor defensive design. I think a defender should make every play count. They should either be pass rushing or covering someone. Not just taking plays away. A good OC merely avoids a strong spot if that's the way it is defended. Versus the chefs, it looked like we weren't covering Hill or Kelce way too often..... though I did see Tremaine let go of his cover as the player left his zone and the ball went there. It was very frustrating.... IDK, they killed us, imho. Three times in a row, we are doing things totally wrong vs. the chefs or they are just way better than us. Which is it? The last time the chefs won both LOS. We barely covered anyone. JA17 showed up, but his receivers were all beat up. (The chefs also were guilty of holding) So hopefully the next two times we play the chefs Josh's O around him is fully healthy. That will really help that aspect of the game. Special Teams were fantastic but couldn't effect the game enough, so I think we gotta be happy with STs. Its the defense that really needs to improve. It isn't as simple as we just need a better pass rush, we need way tighter coverages too. We need to Billieve we can really limit Hill and Kelce in the game. We need to force a couple punts, hold them to a few FGs, and take the ball away once in a while. We need to play totally different than we have been. Full disclosure..... I have tried to rewatch that KC game closely a few times already but it is so sickening I just can't do it. I also don't have the all-22 so I'm limited in what I can see.... What I do know. McD And Leslie are tight, Tremaine and Ed both have to have more impact this year if we are to overtake the chefs. Our pass rush must also be better but I think we have that one figured out, at least, somewhat. Maybe Dawson has to improve more too.... You could say the whole 2018 draft after JA17 and the whole 2019 drafts have to improve for us to win the SB this year. And yes, I do think some of it is on the coaches..... The good news is it looks like we have bounced back with the 2020 and 2021 drafts..... It is too early sure, but I think Diggs was worth to secure JA's place as a franchise QB. I think AJ is going to be a good player, a tough player (we need more toughness) Moss was a good pick, I don't think Devin is an every down back, so Moss was needed we have two excellent blockers and that's what we need most from that position. Davis is already a Star and might be Beane's second best draft pick. From looks like a bust. Bass-o-magic is another star already! Hodgins is still with us and Jackson, according to coaches is fighting for #2 CB job. So a great draft so far, imho. And I love the 2021 draft because we focused on the LOS and our guys look frigin' fantastic so far in preseason and training camp. They also drafted really big men which I love as well. I think AJ really wins a lot of fans this year though.....I would love to see Groot and AJ starting in fact. That'd be quite an accomplishment for their early careers if indeed they beat out Jerry and Mario..... I say Efe gets the bench on the inactive list and Groot - Basham - Addison- AJ becomes our third and long front..... I really like Efe in for Addison here but I'm pretty sure one of the DEs has to sit.....possibly two..... No, I don't think any of the rookies should sit.....but maybe one does? Go Bills! -

Taiwan was a captain in 2018 I read elsewhere..... -
Third is where we should be.....

But they have the chefs with more than double the size odds? 19 to 9? Hah! I think that's a bit off....Maybe 17% to 11%? It should be closer, imho.... The chefs aren't that much better this year, come on now! That computer must have watched the last three chefs-Bills games.... That's it! And it probably doesn't have have Groot in the running for DROY, either. But all us Bills fans know Groot is for real! Theres an honest to goodness NFL game in four days! Hoorah! 😃 Go Bills! I summed up the Bills chances to one stat. If Tremaine Edmunds goes to the probowl on the first ballot, we win the SB. Thats right! It's true. He is key for us....

I'll take the Niners to stay in that tough NFC West. Whaddaya trying to curse the pats or somethin'?

Per Nick Wright: Bills will be a fringe contender.

You can't blame him for thinking like that if Bills-chefs games was the only Bills game he has watched. I bet that's the only ones he watched, because they kick our ass and make us look like suck/suckiest/suck-suck. Somebody should post this in the Bills locker room and make sure McD sees it. We have to get a lot better to beat the chefs, kids. Like it, don't like it, it's the truth. I think we can but we have a long way to go.... Go Bills! -
My list of what has to happen in order to lift the Lombardi this season..... Most important to least. 1) must avoid injuries. 2) These three players need to man up and make plays: Tremaine Edmunds, Ed Oliver And Dawson Knox. 3) Rookies have to be good and make a sizable impact. This is a hard ask but true. Our defense must step up, so, the DL with the rookies, Star and Ed, Butler And Harrison, everybody in waves on the DL must step up. 4) I summed it up in three really.... The offense WILL be great if healthy. The STs will be sound if healthy. A top 8 unit, imho. The big questions all fall upon the defense if injuries don't strike.... Even if Knox can't answer the bell, the O can find a way without him being clutch, We NEED Tremaine Edmunds to be clutch. We need the DL to step up. We need a defensive game plan that is tough and aggressive and we need to play tough and aggressive.

Invincible (2019-20 highlights)
billybrew1 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jim Kelly never won a Super Bowl because: The G-men completely lucked out. Marv Levy was an old timey coach. Bill Polian left. Ted Marchibroda left. Derrick Burroughs had a career ending injury. The Colts cheated stealing Will Wolford away. The Bills could never win the battle on the LOS.... Because..... We kept drafting 4-3 DTs over and over instead of a true NT like Ted Washington. We lost Will Wolford And House Ballard because we were at the cap. We had too small of an interior OL. Never really recovered after losing Polian (That is, he should have been in charge, not Levy, imho....) People On this site are saying we are going to win one because we have Allen, realize we had Jim Kelly, Andre Reed, Thurman Thomas, And the great and powerful Bruce Smith and couldn't win one. This team right now needs this defense to really man up or we are going to come up short.... We need to at least draw on the LOS. Both of them.... We can do this though.... McBeane definitely is on the right track drafting linemen with the top four picks. Keep it up, McBeane! We have to continue to out-draft and out-develop talent. So far, we have the 2017 draft. JA17 the most important piece by far! A lot of good football players.... We need more great ones though.... We need someone (or two) to really step up this year on D. It could be a rookie, it could be a veteran (or maybe we can have sort of a no name D that Miami won Super Bowls with? I guess that's possible but either way, we have to have a top five D and a healthy turnover ratio to get that Lombardi trophy! Go Bills! -

Expanding on that thinking.... We need a defense for the D to bring it on home.... Or, at least.... A very good defense.... Though most very good defenses have great players...l im getting confused. I know though. To win a Super Bowl. Especially against KC then Tampa.... We are going to need a really good defense. Man up, Defense, man up. Do the impossible and win this fine city a Super Bowl. All Glory Be to the ones that do the impossible. We are so freakin' close. but I'm telling you, the defense it has to man up. Go Bills! -

Josh Allen truly is a phenom. His single mindedness to find that end zone is second to none. He's Mr. TD. But in bunches somehow..... i think we have a Bruce Smith like player that happens to play the most important position. McBeane has got to see this thru.... Go Bills! -
Maybe the two that are left, Addison & Butler, have better seasons this year. From what I've read, I'll buy that Addison plays a bit better. Butler, who I think responds to one on one coaching, could respond as well.... Im hoping it is a whole defensive line thing going on this year. As a player beats one on one blocking, things get disorderly and others find their way thru.... That's what I'm looking to see....Week one is a good opponent to get a break on this way of playing. Pittsburgh ought to have one of the worst lines we will see plus the game is at home and the crowd should be extra rowdy after a year's absence. Maybe we still don't have any blue chippers.... Either too young or too old, but together they get the job done? Go Bills! Its weird, the Bills have Groot doing one thing and trying to get great at it but the more experienced Boogie Basham is being taught several positions at once and that this is ######ing his game now according to coaches. I think it is because they really like Basham inside on passing downs. Makes sense. I expect to see four ends vs. obvious passing situations from here on out.

And we have history repeating itself again as JA17 and his receivers seem to be in fast-forward While other offenses look slow and dorky compared to us. Particularly the way the ball comes off their QBs hand. Like a short lob compared to JA17. Funny that in Buffalo, NY we have produced two of the game-changing offenses of all-time and it is the only time we have won a lot in the modern era (with apologies to Chuck Knox.... Go Bills!

The Bills are going to spread the ball around so much it is going to be Marquez Stevenson! We are going to set the NFL on fire this year! Stevenson is the closest match to Beebe anyhoo.... With Marquez being a bit bigger but slower. Fast enough though! Beane said he never saw Stevenson caught from behind.... Thinking this through.....Stevenson might have to wait until next season. If he does get his chance, it probably means we lost someone (a WR) above him for the season..... So I hope he percolates on the IR.... We'll see him next camp looking good. Maybe he and Hodgins fight to replace Sanders? Maybe the both of them share his reps? Go Bills!
