NY Times feature piece on Josh Allen
billybrew1 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is interesting is, I don't know how common this is? Is it common? Is it rare? JA17 was doing everything right last season. He had his mechanics down pat. He had the vision. How do you master that over a whole season and then lose it the next season? I saw a quote from Josh saying he is playing well in practice. So, it is just the games. How do you completely lose your mechanics and technique in a game? The crowd? He also lost his vision and decision making ability the last two weeks. It strikes me as very unusual. I guess there has never been a Josh Allen before so he should have unique problems as well..... i think the question is: Can Josh overcome his nerves? He's just got to calm down.... Master his techniques and go thru his reads....Easy Peasy, right? Right? LOL, I think he does it, I just don't know when. The next question about Josh Allen is can he improve from last season? Because that is what he needs to do to beat Mahomes. Before this season, I though for certain that he would improve from last season. He's still young, he still has Daboll, He has E. Sanders now. The offense which was new to each other is still coming together.... I could see Josh taking another whole step forward to get on Mahomes level. It sez here that not only does Josh find last season's game, It sez at some point this season, (hopefully it is in the playoffs) he takes another step forward. I can see him getting better at seeing the rush and avoiding it. i can see Josh becoming almost automatic when we need a TD. Almost automatic from inside the red-zone. I think our backs, Singletary and Moss, help Josh to reach another level. Not only with their excellent blocking but being another option that Josh trusts both running and receiving. I've been saying since we've had the backs that they are NFL good and they are. I also have been watching Ford. And what Ford brings is toughness this offense maybe lacked a bit. He helps the run game and gives Josh confidence in him. It is going to happen. -
#1 Seed In AFC, What It Probably Takes
billybrew1 replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What do you think the odds are that the Bills could lose in week five yet win homefield? Maybe they can do this? Im telling you, KC is going to have trouble with San Diego this weekend.... Then we could beat a tired KC team at the Ralph...... I'd rather beat them twice fair and square though.... C'mon Josh, kick their ass. Go Bills! -

That week five matchup looms soooo large. It will be very difficult to have a better record than KC if they beat us in week five. I think that bye week is just huge to have in the playoffs. A week to to get all healed up vs. completely trashing your body playing vs. a good football team. The weird thing is.... I think if 2020 Josh Allen shows up, I think we can beat them. The way our defense has looked so far? We look freakin' fantastic! I think our OL bounced back vs. the fish and I think it will continue to improve as they continue to adjust with Feliciano and Ford in new positions. Hopefully, Daboll continues to work on our run game and our pass blocking continues to improve and then we just need Josh to play like it's 2020. I think he can do that. With our four current receivers we should be unstoppable. We really should. We have the four receivers plus our duo at RB who has played great this year and then Dawson Knox who has played great. Allen Just has to feel it, fellas. We can do this, guys. We need that bye week..... Go Bills! -
I thought it was the pressure of signing that contract...... Could be a little of column A and B.... He's nervous that's for sure.... He's got to calm down and remember his techniques. Get his feet right and the ball will follow. And concentrate on what he's seeing.... Trust it and throw. Thats what he did last year. He did you t before, he'll do it again. Go Bills!

Offensive Slump: Josh Allen vs Brian Daboll
billybrew1 replied to elijah's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bologna! You'd have to be blind not to see Josh's struggles and it is the very definition of a fan to discuss how their team is doing. Allen is slumping, fans are concerned and talking about it, get real. I do think Allen will work his way through this...We might have to be patient. IDK? Go Bills! -
I don't think so but you did bring up a different point sort of.... For the last four season's McD and Leslie came out with a super nonaggressive defense. All the DL would just walk the OL back into the QB. Rarely trying to get around them. Fast forward to this year and we are playing our playoffs defense already. That is a huge change and I was wondering about that. Where does the defense go from here? Josh is just playing poorly as evident in the Kurt Warner video and you can tell just by watching Josh play the last two weeks. No MVP there. I think the contract got to him a bit. I think the Stealers physicality got to him a bit. Miami's secondary is maybe the best in the league as well. Josh has a ways to go to match his play from last season. Daboll's O has been aggressive like always.... Maybe it's good that Josh is struggling now as opposed to later I guess. Hopefully Josh will be stronger because of this slump? Go Bills!

Be happy to finally see it all come together at the right time, this year! Go Bills! All the Way! Super Bowl, Baby! Just wait till JA17 first finds his game, then takes it to another level.... We are going to be unstoppable come January! There will be talk that this might be the best team ever! Bills - 54, Rams - 13.

Athletic Article on Josh Allen's Early Season Struggles

Nah, he just stunk. It's over, it is time to move on to next week vs. the WTFs..... C'mon Josh! It's time to kick-ass and win Super Bowls! You don't do it alone, everybody is behind you! You can do it! Read and whip it! Just fling the damn thing like you did last year! Go JA17! Go Bills! -
Kurt Warner break down of Josh vs Pittsburgh week 1
billybrew1 replied to ILBillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As most of us realized, Josh was pretty bad. Now, two weeks in a row. I think he is having trouble after signing that contract. He needs to come to terms with that. He is being paid to be ur best player now and for the next eight years. No one else, just him. It's a lot to realize. I think he has to adjust and then move forward. Daboll is doing nothing too wrong, the defenses were very good but Allen had his chances and just flat out missed what he hit the year prior. Let's stay tuned. Let's support him. C'mon Josh, we know you can do it. Fire that ball, baby! Go Bills! -
I don't care what anybody sez, it doesn't take a genius to know that Allen is not playing up to last year's standards any way you look at it. No, he is not terrible but he is not playing like a franchise QB at all. His passes are all over the place. Too long too don't, into triple coverage, yuck. He threw with incredible accuracy last season putting the ball right on the mark. Do I expect him to come back? Yes, he's slumping, end of story. He might have to come to terms with that contract. He know makes way more than any other Bill and I think that is unsettling for a team oriented guy like Josh. How can you be a great team mate when you make ten times more than the next guy? That is a ton of pressure, just a ton. On tap of all that, Pittsburgh played its super bowl against our s and whooped our ass making things really tough on Allen and Miami might have the very best secondary in the league. Now, this week, he faces perhaps the best front four in the league. Yes, maybe better than Pittsburgh's.... Washington, I suppose, is going to try to do the same exact thing Pittsburgh did. Josh has to throw short with speed and accuracy and Daboll must run some well coordinated runs. We might be wise to run that reverse pass offense where you look short first then long.... Get five yards a pop for around 16 plays ending with a TD. Make the defense feel the pressure instead. And no, Josh has not thrown particularly well throwing short yet this year. Against WTF, would be his first accurate short game of the year.... but he can do it! I know he can.

As far as Darnold goes, everyone saw that the jets gave Darnold zero support and the jets were the joke of the NFL. While the Bills will be drafting linemen high and multiple times again next season.

I was wondering how DJ Bam was doing, thanks! i compare his career t Basham's now and I think Basham will be the better DE and I'm super glad we have two extra picks next year! We'll use them I think as we go to a sort of a rebuild youth movement next year.

Manning cast indirectly peek into Bills Offense.
billybrew1 replied to Mat68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think there are always short routes in Daboll's passing plays. It has got to be more Allen not taking them. The cover two is not making Allen throw poorly, Allen is throwing poorly. It's Allen, his confidence is low right now. Having said all that, I think we need to practice the run game more than we have been. We should have more smooth looking run calls both from under center and from the gun. We also need to pass more from under center. Hopefully, Washington's D doesn't bring their A game this week and Allen can take a step in the right direction. The G-men certainly moved the ball a lot vs. the WTF D. That means so should we, right? -
Imho, TE came out vs. Pittsburgh looking tough. I thought he raised his normal game vs. Pittsburgh. I hoped it was a start to a good year. Vs. Miami I really can't say either way. I noticed he was out and wondered if he was benched. I found out after the game he was seriously dehydrated. Thats my Tremaine Edmunds thoughts on the year. On his career I expected a real lot seeing as how we traded up for him and consider him a disappointment for his draft position. I respect how much he plays though, that he plays STs as well as every snap. I'm on the fence as far a new contract. I'm definitely against a big money deal. Perhaps if he gives us reasonable deal we won't have to replace him? He is still very young and we have lots of holes coming up. I hope we continue to focus on the lines with our higher picks and I can't imagine us having to use another #1 pick to replace him (even for someone better). We have to draft linemen! I see us going: DT, OC/G, TE/WR, CB, in the first four rounds next season. In that order.... I also hope we use all nine picks and make them count. We'll have a ton of open spots next year. I'm hoping to get younger next year saying good bye to STar, Jerry and Addison. That's over 30 mill in savings right there. I hope we use it to sign one impact defender. Maybe an impact DT that plays the run and pass equally. Then we still draft another DT or DE.... Use picks two and three on offense. A C/G then a WR/TE. Then go back to D ... maybe go CB, CB....with the next two picks....though I sure hope we can keep Taron and Levi. I like those players and I like the idea of players staying here their whole careers.... Go Bills!

Devin Singletary clocked 20+
billybrew1 replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He didn't change that much. He always had an excellent burst, maybe he cleaned-up his gate going longer a little bit. He always was good enough. What he always needed was some plays, some called runs, for him. I think he still needs that. Daboll doesn't spend enough time on the run game, imho.....Our run plays often look clunky and two defenders meet Devin at the line and Devin is blamed. We need Josh to play well under center and run some offense that way and we need some better looking run plays when we're in the shotgun.... The good news is our backs (plural) are fine, they always were fine. Go Bills! -
It's too early to categorize a defense. I hope Josh comes out this weekend, but it might be the Washington D. I have a feeling the Washington HC doesn't want to make Sean McDermott look good, we'll see.... Josh should have some good matchups with our WRs, can he hit them with any accuracy like last season? He might not have much time, it's the whole front four with wtf......They're great, don't know why they're looking tame so far.... Go Bills!
-
It's mostly Josh, imho.... Hopefully, he can snap out of it. Lets focus on the positive. Our defense is better than expected. We just witnessed McD's best defensive game he ever had as a HC. Miami had around a million chances to do something with Josh petering out on us and the defense never flinched. I'm pretty proud of that D! Greg Rousseau (Groot) And AJ Epenesa (the terminator) look like solid keepers. I can't wait to see Basham. Our Special Teams aside from the huge blocked punt has played very well too. McKenzie is electric as a returner, just the one bad play really. The OL bounced back heroically today, imho. All five played tough, imho.... We have three weeks for Josh to find his 2020 level of play. That's a fair amount of time. If Josh can do it, and if our defense can slow down Mahomes for four quarters (as he just needs one, the bastard!) we can beat them.

Josh Allen is looking a lot more like the 2019 version
billybrew1 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen has missed Sanders wide-open twice now.... Sanders looks good to me..... And that catch he made was better than he is getting credit for. Josh almost overthrew him (again). I love Josh but he is not playing well now and it's not Sanders fault. The OL played good today too do you can't blame the OL again. Call a spade a spade, Josh has a ways to go to get back to last year's form. -

billybrew1 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, it must be defenses are taking away what Josh excels at and I would say that he excels at deep medium passes that are fired in there. Most great QBs go thru rough times where things are taken away and the QB must grow. Hopefully Josh can adjust, grow and hopefully start hittting arcing over the shoulder passes.... I think if he can do this, our offense will start making big plays in bunches, and defenses back off of taking away what Allen does (or did) best. Right know, or, after two weeks, Josh has been pretty poor so it is up to everyone else to get us past Washington and Houston. We absolutely need the good Allen to beat the chefs.... BTW, I would not count his last two playoff games as Josh Allen bad games. His receivers were all beat up and most were just decoys out there. That wasn't Josh's fault. Josh's poorer play started this year and probably has to do with signing that contract and defenses catching up to him. Josh has two weeks to get back to Josh Allen 2020.
