Kurt Warner breakdown on Bills vsJaguars game
billybrew1 replied to Buffalo Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Josh thinks the same way you do. That these reads are not that important, but they are. Josh has to learn to take what is there and not fight the play. It is these little things Josh has to learn and do. And that's a big reason why we have been struggling all year on offense. Josh isn't the only one screwing up but he is older now and has to lead by doing what the coaches tell him. Thats all that Brady does. Calls the right checks and runs the play according to what the defense is doing. You take what's there. Hopefully, Josh will eventually learn. We have this year and next year to win a Super Bowl before Josh's big money kicks in, Now would be a good time to stop fighting the play. Imho, Josh also has to get better at throwing very long passes (bombs). He gets those two things down, we will be very difficult to beat. Especially once Brown, Knox, and Feliciano get back. -
Bobby Johnson: The Source of O-Line Issues (in my opinion)
billybrew1 replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I realize you're being sarcastic, but The buck always, always, always stops at the GM's desk. While Beane has made plenty of terrific moves, he's made plenty of whoops moves too.... I'd say our OL is playing below what we all thought it would play like, even with the injuries, it was abandon Bean that new the OL was in trouble as he surprised us by drafting three OL last April. It sure looks like he is going to draft three more this coming April. Until then we have to hope for quick recoveries of our injured OL and hope we do not run into more. It's too bad we like st our 7th round pick to Philly, he'd be called up by now and maybe even playing.... Boy, I remember the press and Love Cody Ford received before the draft. A absolute sure thing at guard and maybe a winner at RT. Big, mean and dominating. Everybody loved him... All the draftniks were so happy we got him.... A GMs job is hard. Everyone has to deal with busts, it just happens. Hopefully, players like Epenesa, Moss, Davis, Fromm, Rousseau, Basham, Brown And the rest turn into winners. It looks like Beane also has trouble identifying running backs..... I hope ourteam next year has a much better OL (a free agent added plus a second and the rd round picks would be nice) a new big RB and probably even his back up. It took me a long time to realize this but neither back is NFL good. I guess I was hoping that they'd improve but instead both declined. It's a fact. Imagine if JA had Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch available to hand the ball off to. We had a worse line then than we do now and those guys averaged 5.1 yds./carry when everyone knew we were running. They always got hit in the backfield yet broke tackle and got good yardage. Both of our current backs need big holes most of the time. We're talking completely different levels of talent here. If a coach needs to be fired, it is our RB coach as our backs continue to decline and lose confidence. I know the RB coach is very experienced but perhaps he is phoning it in or was really never any good, IDK, we'll see at the end of the year what McD thinks of Bobby Johnson and Kelly Skipper But clearly blame must be placed on McBeane's feet as well. To miss with third round picks twoyear in a row is bad. Boo.... -
Rookie TE Quintin Morris elevated from PS
billybrew1 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wow! IR for Feliciano..... I don't like it.... Get we'll soon, big fella! I think Bates is our swing OT, then Doyle is below him..... At guard, Ike will probably get the start and Ford backs up at guard. Get a free taco if you know who our backup center is..... Ugh, lotsa work to do to get this OL up to decent. Gotta Get our starters back first. That's gonna take three weeks minimum now. Then, I think, they need to play together for awhile. I don't even think Feliciano has left guard down yet at all.... It takes time switching sides.....Plus they all have to get used to each other again. Hopefully Brown is still adjusting things in his mind watching, etc. Anyhoo, I haven't given up yet that our OL can be decent by the playoffs.....and it could be a blessing in disguise that Spencer Brown is not playing now. While he definitely needs the practice this little "vacation" for him may prevent him from hitting the rookie wall. Go Bills! -
I see your desire but we do have Manuel Stevenson on IR ready for camp next season. Maybe we can find another around the fifth round for next season and have the two compete. I see the Bills going DT in the first round then hitting offense with the next three picks. Maybe a WR but I think up to two OL with one coming in round two. Maybe we try to find another two-way TE in the third. While I like the idea of a dangerous speed guy I see the Bills still building the trenches next season. In addition to building the lines, Better competition for Levi Wallace could finally be targeted. I want the Bills to build a real run game, a dangerous one. One where we can run on third and one and make it almost every time. A run game that would force safeties to move closer to the LOS. Then Allen could start throwing deep medium passes to Diggs again. I'm not certain how accurate JA's deep ball is? It is really hard to tell with all the other problems occurring on the field. Like pass blocking mostly...but pass blocking is a pretty complicated skill. It takes the whole team, including Allen, to be sharp and execute at a high level. The Miami game showed we have a myriad of pass blocking problems. Heavy zonedefenses have given us a lot of trouble as well. Luckily, we have the Jags this week and the Jets next before a truly tough Colts team comes up on the schedule. I sure hope we get Knox and Brown back by then. I also hope we have grown as a team by the Colts game. Especially on offense. Go Bills!

I think we even have the new QB coach already on the staff.... We are set at coaches for the time being. The question remains can the new OC manufacture TDs as prolifically as Daboll can? Brian really understands the game like a chess player understands chess. He knows how to set up everything to score TDs by the bunches. Hopefully, Ken Dorsey is fine and we build the OL to be much better next season and that this greatly improves our current O (which isn't doing as well compared to last season's standards. I think we're struggling a little because our OL isn't playing as well as last season and defenses have taken away Josh's favorite passes pretty much. Hopefully our current struggles (I know we're still prolific scoring) make us much stronger in the future. Interestingly enough, our offense might be quite a bit different next season. We could upgrade along the OL and RB while letting go of Sanders upgrading our run game enough to get defenses to creep up the line thus opening up the passing game more. Furthermore, we could protect JA much better as a passer. We could get two FAs for the O. A big, tough, vet RB and a run blocking guard while drafting another OL in the top two rounds and another RB late in the draft for competition in camp. We don't need to make our O like Baltimore's but having a solid run game changes a lot of things. Probably draft a DT in the first and an OL in the second..... I am so glad we have nine picks for next season.... Go Bills!

Greg Rousseau named to PFF all rookie midseason team
billybrew1 replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall
It depends on if Sean and Leslie cut him loose or not. We play different teams completely different. Groot got all those pressures on Miami for two reasons. One, Miami's line in weak. Two, we aggressively pass rushed a lot. I don't think we played like that vs. anybody else. -
I think Tre White is a good guess on defense. I also like Milano to have a good game now that is is back in the swing again. I also like Epenesa but I don't even know if he'll be active. I like the way he plays though.... I like all three of our young tackles Boogie, Groot and AJ.... Another player who looked good last week was Jerry Hughes. I wonder who he s matched up against this week? One of the good OL or a poor one? I have no idea of how our line will look vs. a poorer team, but with Feliciano out, and Brown unknown at this time, it probably ain't good considering the year they have had so far.... I think Feliciano is "Ok" if he is the weakest link in your line.... But with Dion still not back to normal by any means, Williams learning at RG, a rookie at RT, and Feliciano learning at LG it has been a mess so far this season. Even Morse, he looks way better with adequate guard play around him. And I still think we are having all kinds of problems identifying the Blitzers on any given play. From JA on down, it needs to improve. I STILL think they can get much better than they have been playing with some better health, better consistency, and more practice together at the right positions. It has to get better to win a SB of course. If the Bills don't win it this year, I really like their chances next year..... Keep the team together as best we can, maybe add one key FA (Maybe not it depends on who we retain) maybe a couple smaller FAs like a RB, then really hit it in this draft. I hope we don't lose key personnel before the draft..... Josh will be another year wiser. Our young DEs will be ready to take over... We can fix the OL, maybe have a real run game to open up the pass game.... But we should go for the gusto next year . We just need to be smart enough to sign the right players..... Maybe a Colt OL will be a FA? Ideally, I think, Feliciano is your first off the bench on the interior and we find a real swing by next season, maybe draft another guard or tackle at 32. Really look at OL, DT, CB, RB, TE, big WR, in the draft..... Anybody know how this draft is shaping up for OL? Go Bills!

The Bills should do a better job at RB. The Bills have very long history of having great running backs. Now, after twenty years of sucking and having no QB we finally are dangerous but a primo back sure would take us a step further. It is not like the Bills do not value the position, we did use two low third round selections which is about right in building a franchise. And goodness knows our backs are far from terrible. Both can block very well and this talent might be the most important in this offense. I really thought Singletary would show more of his dangerous self this year but we start the game and he seems more nervous than Allen. Tight and awkward and easily taken down. It usually takes him a lot of carries to get in a swing and become harder to tackle, and much better at reading his blocks. His worse trait is that he has short medial forearms which makes him prone to fumbling. Moss is far less dangerous of a back, but is better at taking what's there and less prone to fumbling. Moss to my surprise has better hands too. I thought Devin would catch far better this year. I don't get it. This spring, I thought both would step up their games but it looks like I was wrong and that they are what they are. Below average NFL RBs except for pass blocking. While we need far better blocking neither of these backs are anywhere close to the Bills backs of yesterday. Fred Jackson, God Bless him, would be a huge upgrade for us. I think Beane has to forget his current model and find backs bigger and faster. I can't Billieve we can't find one in the third round. Well, maybe this year. I am kind of with Beane here that we shouldn't use the top two rounds on RBs unless the RB is the clear BPA. We need OL. We need a DT for the future, and we need a CB imho.... I Billieve we can get the outside CB in the third or fourth round because Leslie and Sean are CB magicians. I think we should triple header at RB this spring. Let's find a UFA with upside, let's hit RB in the third or fourth round again and let's hit it in the sixth or a couple UDFAs right after the draft. We need lots of competition at running back and let's throw a lot against the wall and see what sticks for 2022. Lets make certain that we have two backs for the practice squad as well. Let's take advantage of the big PS and identify a couple backs that probably are OK to be put there where we could really coach them up..... I think McBeane gets a C for their ability to create a RB room so far.... Especially if you look around the league and see what everybody else has at RB..... A good, smart confident RB would be a strong ally for the young signal caller. Someone who Allen would want to share the load with..... Go Bills!

I feel the same exact thing that happened to Mahomes happened to Josh Allen. What happened was defenses really broke down their film and figured out how to take away the QBs favorite plays. It is up to the QBs and offenses and offensive coordinators to reinvent themselves and find new things they are great at. I think Allen is handling it better but I think Allen has more variable weapons. Where Allen is really excelling is playing with a poor OL. No, they weren't fantastic last year but they are definitely worse this year. Knox is clearly our first half hero but we need Singletary and Moss to excel as well and they are just pedestrian I'm starting to Billieve. While we need to add a good DT and CB in the draft, we need a couple OL and a true starting RB #1 RB more.....We have to hit big in the lower rounds as well as the high picks.... I see us trading our baby picks to rise in the draft maybe end up with two fourth rounders.... Something like, DT, OT, OG/C, RB, CB with our first five picks. Anyway, that sure would be something if Beane could pull that off.....Maybe we can resign Star (this is his best year by far as a Bill imho) and add the fifth year to Ed , keep Zimmer Maybe and find a new DT Maybe later in the draft and take care of OL with the first two picks..... Anyhoo.... I'm glad we have another year with good cap space and nine picks in the draft..... Not sure if I'd trade away next year's picks for anyone except someone who is young and staying.... Like a good OL we can trade for and sign to a reasonable extension. Although I still say this OL could come together this year if we avoid injuries and dedicate ourselves. Josh and the OL itself has to be better calling the adjustments as well. We could use an EricWood type that is excellent at calling out adjustments and making sure everyone is lined up right and knows who to block. Go Bills!

How do you deep down, really feel about this defense?

The Edmunds Report - Week 8, Fish v. Bills, 10/31/21
billybrew1 replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
How the hell did he get a C for the titans game? He was the only guy we had that could make a tackle. I missed your report that week..... : ( I think Edmunds is having his best year, a bright spot this year, yet he looks like he still could be a lot better... -
QBR is worthless; Tua higher than Allen
billybrew1 replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
And on top of all that, Josh Allen rose to win the game for us while Toa disappeared. A lot of times I agree with the QBRs, on this occurrence I haven't the foggiest. It wasn't Josh's best game game but it was a hell of a lot better than tooahs.... -
This O-line is why the Bills won’t win it all this year.
billybrew1 replied to JY422's topic in The Stadium Wall
#1 - The Fish were really up for this game and played very tough; especially the defense. #2 - Spencer Brown was out. #3 - Our starting line has been shuffled around all year and still hasn't had a chance to solidify. It will take the best five playing together a long time (~ 5 more games) for this to happen (Dawkins, Feliciano, Morse, Williams, Brown.). # 4 Dawson Knox is a good blocker and knows what he is doing. #5 - JA has to get a lot better at identify and calling blocking schemes with the line. #6 - JA has to continued e to grow throughout this year at identify and defeating different defenses. #7 - Dion Dawkins May still find his A game this season. #8 - Spencer Brown could really improve through the season. #9 - Feliciano could really improve at LG which is a new position for him. #10. Williams could really improve at RG if he gets the hang of it. #11 - Again, it takes a long time for a new line to gel. All our guys have to improve individually and then get used to the guy next to him. PS - Of course Jim Kelly was recognized as a top player in the NFL for years. Allen is still young and learning a lot. He is still getting better and his ceiling is the best player in the NFL. (Though I Billieve QB rating and QBR are largely a function of the whole offense. And Kelly had a pretty good offense with two HOF). I really do Billieve Allen and our offense could get much better by January with any luck. No injuries of course. I also Billieve we could be much better next season... I say stay the course, keep next season's cap dollars and draft picks for next season. Allen is still young! Go Bills! -
Now Dallas is going to go down to cap off a nice weekend. Go Bills! Go Sabres!

And a HUGE week for AFC EAST! Sorry fish (no I'm not!, LOL!) Go Bills! This week sows any victory is a big one.

It sure would be fun seeing McCaffrey in a Bills jersey working with Allen. I like our backs until I compare them to a Fred ajackson or someone like that. Imagine if Allen had Beast Mode Lynch and Fred Jackson in the backfield. Running, blocking and passing to.... It would be so much fun to watch. And our offense would be so physically tough. In other news, when Allen starts to see and release a hair faster we will be very tough to play against as is. Our defense hopefully can play like it did vs. KC throughout the playoffs or even better than that. I want to see our edge rushers take a couple steps forward. Maybe look like how we did vs. Miami but against Tampa or someone like that..... AJ has a lot of potential I think. Groot And Boogie of course do too....

If we get to the SB...any fear of Tampa Bay?
billybrew1 replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Brady is still a good QB but he clearly is on the best team and that's what makes him so scary now..... Put him on Minnesota or any other mediocre team and he is little threat. Tampa Bay's roster is just loaded. To further illustrate my point, switch Brady with JA and the Bills are sunk while Tampa becomes unbeatable. -
If we get to the SB...any fear of Tampa Bay?
billybrew1 replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the the thing we can do that Tampa cannot is that Allen can really raise his level of play and make plays when they are not really there. If Josh has a hot game there really is no stopping us. I also think our OL has a lot of potential to improve yet this year. So, there's that too. On defense, cannot explain the Tennessee game and why we were so bland all around. No pass rush, no cover on Brown in the second half, no defense toughening up in the red-zone more than anything else. Though I cannot explain this, I just feel in a Super Bowl all of them (the Bills D) would play better. It's like we were flat and really didn't game plan much. I don't know....On the plus side We do have the kids: Groot, Basham And Epenesa and they have the potential to really bloom in the playoffs.....and the Bills D with a true dangerous four-man pass rush is a damn good defense. I like the way we're playing the three, a little at a time. Keep them hungry but letting them learn and gain confidence. But yes, Tampa Bay healthy? Pretty close to an all-star team.....I wish they had a clear weakness but healthy, they really do not. Maybe their starting corner cannot come back until next year? I think we need something like that to happen. -
Is Josh Allen eating Kyle Murray's dust in the MVP Race? Does Josh Allen have to start producing like Kyle Murray for us to win a Super Bowl? I know this. The Bills have to play a lot better on both sides of the ball than their last game to win a SB..... Can we? Absolutely. I think we have lots of potential yet.
-
Zach Ertz IS STILL an interesting topic. Are the cards making the right choices going for broke? If they win it all, the answer is yes. As Bills fans, of course, we're watching.... There's only one ball I guess....I wonder what we could do in the redzone with Zach and a healthy Knox though? And recently, we lost our seventh round guard to philly, you really can't hide young talent on the PS. Next season we have nine picks. I have no idea how many openings we will have next season. I won't be happy if we draft more guys that can't make the team though....We do have nine picks for next season.... LOLl. IDK?
