Offensive stat that needs to be improved - YAC
billybrew1 replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Problem identified and solved. There is no problem. Josh has a rocket arm. -
The truth is, the Bills drafting record is very questionable..... Who was in charge of the 2017 draft? That was our great one. We got a first rounder that sort of turned into Edmunds. We got Dawkins. We got Tre White. We got Milano and Harrison. I think Beane was in charge because the way we moved around the draft was exactly like Beane and his hire was merely paper work that needed to be done. But we never drafted that well again. Take away the Allen pick and it's very questionable. The jets put us in a position that we almost had to draft Allen as he was the next best QB. I'm not trying to cause a fight. I'm a Bills fan that wants the Bills to look good but I'm not going to lie about it. Our defense cost us a trip to the Super Bowl imho and we drafted a ton of defense but it is very questionable as to what we have on D. Part of the reason is they're still young but the fact remains the Bills defense needs to be more aggressive and they need a game-changer in the front seven and we are not even close right now in that regard. I think we have to start thinking more like the rams and other teams (many of them super bowl winners) that add an impact player(s) to close the gap to become a Super Bowl winner. Can our defensive coaches coach a Super Bowl winning defense? Frankly, I don't know. Two years in a row we had highly questionable game plans vs. KC imho.... We were too laid back and not aggressive at all. We played not to lose. The DL had no confidence in what they were supposed to do. They looked lost, imho.... A DC has to get their team ready to play and ready to kick ass no matter what. The only good thing I can say about Leslie is that he had this defense ready to play vs. KC in week five. Where that attitude went in the playoffs is beyond me.... Our defense looked good in many other games as well, sometimes playoff games, so I think, at least there's hope, but Ivwouldnt have shed a tear had Leslie left for greener pastures. I don't think many would have been too disappointed.

Bills promote Matthew Smiley to ST Coordinator
billybrew1 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
I Billieve McD spends a lot of time with STs also, but I would have been much happier with a big-name STs coordinator add. You can't complain being eighth but I wish our STs were more dynamic. That we kicked less into the endzone and we're a bit more aggressive there. Possibly trying more things. We spend a lot of money on STs yet we always try to make STs a non factor in determining the winner. I think all of our units should be dynamic and aggressive. Seems like we only have one unit that fits that description. Maybe because are offense is so good we try to diminish the other areas of the game? It seems like we try a just don't lose it mentality, no? At least in most games anyway. Sometimes our defense plays aggressive. But I can't recall the last time our STs played a big role in winning the game aside from maybe kicking a lot of field goals but I can't even remember that off hand. I guess I'm just still mad about that chefs loss.... The f***ing bengals are in there instead of us! Geez! That sucks! I hope Joe SCHOEN is right when he said don't caount the Bills out of being a player in FA.... Just get a FA pass-rusher and draft a DT #1 if one is there or a CB. Let's really give the defense a real face-lift. Build that OL and keep our receivers scary.... -
Allen is #1 now. Easy.

Beach chairs are back! (Kromer hired as OL Coach)
billybrew1 replied to MWK's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lest we forget.... https://www.si.com/nfl/2014/12/17/aaron-rodgers-aaron-kromer-jay-cutler Having pasted this, I still think he is a fine OL coach... He probably ain't HC or OC material anymore.... Maybe OC? IDK? Two pretty freaky stories about him make me question his maturity and dignity but everyone makes mistakes. -
2022 Offseason Primer Position Group: Linebackers
billybrew1 replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
Imho, Edmunds and Milano are overpaid. I'd like them better if both of them were paid two mill less each. You don't see much greatness in either player. Milano lost his nose for the ball and Edmunds never had it. I don't mind allowing rush yards as we are supposed to outscore running offenses most games. The Bills think the exact same thing by leaving Taron Johnson in there all the time. Maybe when we get Tre back and get an upgrade at the other outside spot, we can play a 4-3 or 5-2 against run first offense. Now the plan is to not let a QB get hot. Our whole defense seems mediocre at best except a Hyde and Poyer and Tre.... I'm sure we're dedicating the offseason to improving the defense (again). But it remains to be seen if Leslie Frazier can create a very good front seven player. Is it Beane? Is it Leslie? Or, is it both? No, I still don't think Ed is very good. He's good. It seems right that he would be better if he had better players around him, but you can say that with almost anybody. I hope Beane gets better at paying guys what their worth as opposed to what others think they should be paid. No way Milano is a ten million dollar player. The same with Tremaine at 12 mill.... If we get great players pay them. If.... -
It's always greener on the other side of the fence, huh? We're going to stay the course I Billieve and we'll be lucky to keep McKenzie who would give us a home town discount. How's the guys in the front seven look? D-e-f-e-n-s-e!

Bills’ Stefon Diggs making recruiting pitch at Pro Bowl
billybrew1 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beane got us the best backup QB in the league last year for peanuts, maybe they can woo a defender this year? IDK? But it would be awfully big deal if he could.... Bills fans would be free! Free at last! Get us that Super Bowl, McBeane! -
Bills 2021 rookie class ranked 27th in league
billybrew1 replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I for one, think t is very debatable how well Beane drafted..... Not saying it was bad, it is a complicated question where you have to look at every team's draft each year.... Sure, he got Allen the current NFL MVP but many of the other picks are debatable and the Bills currently have only three blue chippers..l. He used to trade up un-necessarily as well, imho..... aside from the Allen pick of course....He had players graded too high...I think if you're right a trade up is perhaps worth it. To get the guy you need but almost all his trade-ups seemed unnecessary and not worth it. Beane build much of the offense with free-agents, kudos there.especially with the trade. They drafted much of the defense. Only Hyde and Poyer are currently FAs signed and they are the best part of our D aside from Tre. How did we draft so well in 2017? I still say it was Beane pulling all the strings maybe he's best when he has no time to think about it? IDK? -
Why did Marv not directly replace Ted Marchiabroda?
billybrew1 replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, Kelly ran the O like a kid in a yard. Andre turn the other way this time..... etc. Worked like a charm. Got Belicheat fired in Cleveland.... Yes, Marv was never big on strategy. He thought the game was pure execution. But Belicheat watched Bill Walsh and others and then took strategy to a whole new level deciphering film to a whole new level and made dinosaurs like Levy obsolete. We really have little knowledge about Daboll's and company replacements, but they seem like good ideas. Hopefully Josh Allen's rise to dominance in the NFL will continue as planned. You almost know for sure that Beane will ensure Allen has the OL and weapons to continue to dominate (cuz last time I checked it's an eleven man game) . -
Burn him!!!

Aaron Rodgers to the Titans ?? [Titans say "No"]
billybrew1 replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall
The packers had a great team. Rogers just s*** the bed in the playoffs. Geez, I don't know if he made even one Allen type play in that playoff game vs. the niners....I can't recall one. Thank the lord we have Allen. Go Bills! -
Vikings Oline coach Phil Rauscher (Twitter speculation)
billybrew1 replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
We were one of the top offenses ever in the post season in the NFL.... C'mon, we were doing everything great there for awhile....until.... 😪 The idea is to peak in the postseason and we did that and THAT is trickier than it sounds.... -
Thurman Thomas was far faster than I thought he was...
billybrew1 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh c'mon, I must have seen get caught after about thirty yards downfield about a hundred times.... Of course, he had a great burst.... just like Devin....I hope Singletary works on his routes and all pass receiving skills this offseason. Go Bills! -
It took how many years to find someone like Manning and Brady and now they seem to be popping out of the woodwork. As a Bills fan, I want only Allen to be as gifted as Allen for.....say..... the next 20 years or so? Is that too much to ask for?

Plus, Fitzy could keep the Bills on track should it be an injury Josh can come back from during the season. I mean, Mitch is ideal, but no way does he stay....

(Edit) Loss of coordinators' effect on success next season
billybrew1 replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in The Stadium Wall
We have a meeting between the Pegulas, Beane, McD, Frazier and the whole defense (perhaps) to come up with a plan to make our defense Super Bowl worthy. What do we lack? What do we have to do? Make a clear plan focused on not letting Josh Allen, the offense and people of Buffalo and all their fans down. We need commitments. We need promises of not becoming soft in any way. To go for it and coach and play to win. Whether we have to push monies into 2023 or not. (I think we do to add a bonafide impact player for the front seven). maybe we can get Ed and Tremaine to take another step? We need Epenesa, Groot and a Basham to change their bodies to as strong as they can get and to practice, practice practice and study film for breakfast. Imho, all three have significant potential and we have to tap ASAP. I know Tre white is doing everything he can to get better and I feel certain he will be good as new by October....It might take him awhile to trust it but we're talking playoffs here. That's when we really need him. Although it would sure help to get Josh and the whole team the bye week. If the Bills get the Bye-week I say pencil us right into the big game. The schedule is crazy hard though.... On offense, I think we need a few players. We need another RB and we need some OL depth and to keep Bates. Keep McKenzie and everybody else and we're good at receiver. If we can't keep everyone we have picks to spare for the offense... We probably draft a defender in round one then go to offense with a OL and maybe a RB.... then WR, then we can go back to defense for the rest.... We certainly MUST do very well in the draft. ..... 1- Keep team together. 2. sign a helper for the defense. 3. nail the draft. 4. Get Tre White back. 4. win Super Bowl. -
Our Super Bowl chances are closely tied to our ability to draft and develop defense. Look no farther than Harry, Ed, AJ Epenesa, Greg Rousseau, and Boogie Basham for answers to how good this defense will or will not be... We need them to take big steps this offseason. Maybe we can keep Efe Obada as the fourth Defensive end? Our top eight would be: Groot - Harry - Ed - AJ Efe - Star - Zimmer - Boogie.... While it is definitely not bad, you have to wonder if it's good. So much potential there.... Not much accomplished yet. IDK? At least, I think, we could afford this. What do you think?
-
I'd love an impact OL, maybe Beane can draft one? Maybe Spencer Brown becomes one? Having said that, we need an impact defensive lineman about ten times as much... I think Jerry should retire. Mario Addison outplayed him by a long shot. I don't think we should pay either now though.... Draft a DE, sign Harrison if he can be signed relatively cheap. Go with Star, Phillips, Zimmer and Ed. The Bills must get better at drafting and developing defensive talent. Go thru the defense, they get about a C+. Our defense was mostly drafted and drafted with high picks to boot. It's not an impressive defense by any means. Poyer and Hyde lead the D from their Safety positions, what does that tell you? We need a captain of the front seven. It's got to come from our youth. Oliver probably ain't the one as he is not worth the mega-deal it would take to keep under his fifth-year option plus. I think it's time Beane, the pegulas, McD, Leslie and everybody involved have to sit-down and come up with a solid plan on how to build a Super Bowl worthy defense. And let me tell you....it's not going to be easy.... I think it is a mess withTremaineand Ed due contracts and our safeties getting old.
-
It would be awesome if we ended up with some upgrades in the coaching staff.... Go Bills!
-
Probably the jets again in week one.... I wonder what they're going to do this offseason? Tons of money and draft picks.... I sure hope they blow it somehow... The Bills need some kind of breather somehow.... What a killer schedule we have this year.... So much for last season's easy schedule. C'mon Bills, find a way! Go Bills!

Don't be surprised if Josh Allen has a bumpy 2022
billybrew1 replied to beebe's topic in The Stadium Wall
If we can keep this offense together AND healthy (which won't happen) ain't nobody stopping Josh. Ideally, we upgrade the RB and OL positions and keep Josh from running too much until the playoffs. But, it is probably too hard to get better players and we are going to run into injuries which is going to result in the offense getting mired down. Maybe we will improve the defense? idk? We'll have to wait and see... C'mon Super Bowl! Go Bills!
