Bills release A.J. Klein, $5.1m in Cap Savings
billybrew1 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Klein was a decent player that was clearly overpaid…. It seems like everyone in the NFL wants over 10 mill now…..some 20, some forty, one fifty…. -
No disrespect to Wilson, but I want everyone hear to know that Josh Allen is the better player and if they play on equal teams Josh wins nine outta ten…. Josh is…. A force of nature….. (like a blizzard, a white-out, there’s no beating him (unless his HC doesn’t know the score). C’mon Beane! Pressure is on. We’ve got Mahomes (who is on a better team) Herbert, Burrow and now Wilson to beat….. You have a lot of work to do…. A lot of work….including winning the team over again….But we need a better team too…that’s for sure…

Mike Williams. The NFLs newest 20M aav man.
billybrew1 replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall
Diggs is also a huge leader in the lockeroom and a pleasure anywhere off or on the field. He’s a little Super Man! Here he comes to save the day! Mighty Diggs is on his way! He really is… Just a pleasure to have him. I like him more than Robert Woods….and that’s a lot. He makes my all-time Bills team already. Of course, Ralph Wilson let about five great WRs go in the late 60s - seventies…. And Jerry Butler just could not stay healthy. But none of them were so integrated in Buffalo like Diggs is now. I don’t want to pay him because we don’t have the money but if anybody deserves a raise in Buffalo it’s him. -
Chandler Jones, Jordan Davis, DK Metcalfe, maybe Gronk

Have the seahags said something about their monster WR? -
Bills cap situation from the former Assistant GM.

I’ll tell ya, if we don’t give Josh a realistic shot at the Super Bowl (thusly beating KC) I’m gonna throw away all my Bills gear (again.) 😂 -
Which WR do you think the Bills will draft?
billybrew1 replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hope Beane goes almost pure BPA and f hat means WR so be it. Having said that our needs are in order: DT, DE, OL, CB, WR/TE, RB… Yes, DE because on paper, we have zero proven talent signed and Super Bowl winners usually can mount a decent pass rush with four. I’d love a WR, but I want a super bowl more…. Go Bills! -
Tyreek Hill extension - 4 years 85 mill
billybrew1 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
LOL, There’s no way the chefs should be able to do this. Methinks the Bills and Chefs are playing on different tables…. How are they paying these guys? They have to be pushing money into the next year every year…. -
Well, sure Zimmer was limited….onlyAaron Donald is not limited athletically. You have to look at players by their value.Which is how much they can help in relation to how much they get paid. We are looking for the best bargains now that JA’s contract is a reality. Hopefully, we can find a better player at around the same cash to backup Ed but if we can’t Zimmer is (was) a pretty good bargain basement backup.

Where was Ray guy drafted? Or Jankowski? Because they were raiders does it not count? IDK? I don’t think we’re dying to have the best punter with Josh being our QB, but I would like to upgrade. Somehow, we need to keep the offense as good as it is now or even better. To me, that means at least seven viable weapons and good line. Last year, even with Bates, we maybe were closer to decent than actually good. I’d love to upgrade the OL. And far as defense goes, it is no where near the best defense in the league. We need to upgrade that DL a lot, imho. That means the premium picks go to the defense unless the BPA is clearly an O player when we make those picks. so, IDK? It’s not a very good question. It largely would be decided by who is there on board when you make that pick in the round. It sounds like he might be a great pick in the sixth, but really, you have to go by your board. McBeane has been able to get pretty good secondary players late in the draft or even after it. It would feel good to have a guy that makes plays from that punter position though…Plus a guy you can trust to not screw it up. IDK? I don’t feel great about our chances of improving the defense today and that’s just sad….

Bills interested in signing Rob Gronkowski, per Tim Graham
billybrew1 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I will say I’ve been wanting a second good TE foe awhile now… But I think I’d rather do it without him at this point. Can’t we get a young TE? Kudos to Beane looking for a Buffalo connection discount though I don’t think Gronk plays at a discount so I really don’t want him….. -

Missed for years? We were unstoppable last year and led the league in scoring and set all kinds of team records the year before. I get the desire to build a record setting offense but clearly our defense’s label of being #1 was way off as KC scored at Will and dropped 42 massive points on us. It’s crystal clear where the majority of our assets for 2022-23 should go…. Defense! -
McDermott and Beane interviews from the Scouting Combine
billybrew1 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
As far as the offseason goes, I expect McBeane to keep the same amount of real weapons which is seven: Diggs, Davis, Singletary, Knox, Sanders, Beasley and McKenzie. I don’t know who we are going to lose but they will be replaced by someone that at least stands a good chance to be able to replace them. Mostly FAs I expect. We need another RB to compete with Moss. We need better depth on the OL and the OL is a bit of a question mark like the weapons about who stays and who goes but I expect a clear upgrade along the OL. I mean better depth. Then we find a nobody QB or whoever will take 2.5 mill. That’s qualified. So, yeah, the top picks will be for the defense yet again. And the Bills brain trust is absolutely correct doing this. The only critique might be that the guys we already drafted aren’t enough. And I understand the frustration but we are used to be drafting between six and 18….not the late twenties… So, we draft defense again. I want the first three picks to be DT, DE and CB….We have to fix this thing right. And no I don’t mind being pretty young at DE. I’ll vote talent of experience and besides, if there are no injuries the forth guy plays the least. And we might keep five DEs because we like to move them into tackle on passing downs. Maybe we sign Efe and draft a DE in the second. If the Bills just sign Efe I’m good with it. I say goodbye Jerry and goodbye Mario. Unless nobody wants to give Addison money. I think he is worth 4 mill to split some snaps and provide depth, no more. Give Efe the 4 mill and I think with more snaps he gets better. I think Mario was our best end last year yet I don’t think he is worth a lot of money, he just keeps getting older. Anyway, defense or bust! Super Bowl or Bust! Go Bills! -
What is the BEST pick you would trade for Saquon Barkley?
billybrew1 replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
FYI….. Thinking about Hooks it got me wondering how we got him…. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_Hooks It turned out to be very interesting to me….btw….we got him in the 10th round so…..c’mon Beane you can do it! -
What is the BEST pick you would trade for Saquon Barkley?
billybrew1 replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I guess it would be a nice swing for the fence kind of move IF we go over his physical with a fine toothed comb…. But, It makes me nervous as he could get injured any second. Honestly, as exciting as that would be, it makes me too nervous. we could get a helluva WR for under 6 - particularly, on a one year deal methinks. I would sign someone with zero injury history…. Though I recognize we still need to upgrade the RB position. What ever happened to getting a nice back that could back up Singletary and compete with Moss in around the fifth round? Or even an UDFA? Are those days over? Over, because there are 32 teams now and kids don’t want to be RBs anymore? I think the latter part of that sentence could be the culprit. But what position could potential RBs switch to? I think most couldn’t switch to any other position. Especially short RBs. A Marcus Allen could play defense like safety or LB….even CB…but there’s not a lot of Marcus Allens running around… So, why can’t we get a good RB without using big assets? I don’t even want to use a fourth rounder! I want a good one for a fifth or less! Give me a Fred Jackson or give me death! Man! Fast Freddy is way, way up there on my favorite Bills of all-time list. I miss Riddick and Hooks too…. Get us a Roland Hooks, McBeane! A UDFA that runs like Hooks! You can do it! Go Bills! -

A nice prospect to groom if Feliciano gets the boot.
billybrew1 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Feliciano struggled a bit more this season. I think it is because we asked him to play another position. Switching sides is extremely difficult for most OL. So, you can’t really blame him for that. While he was never a great OL he was a decent RG and center. Plus he brings all that leadership and toughness. I hope we keep him but I have all the faith in the world in Krazy Kromer to build the best line McD ever had in Buffalo. I think Kromer brings in at least one OL. Probably an inexpensive one but you never know. I that who he brings in looks good as well. -
Gabe Davis on Richard Sherman Podcast
billybrew1 replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Gabriel certainly has fantastic hands. You could build a very impressive high lite reel displaying hands since his rookie year. I still remember his first TD. Miraculous grab, it should have gotten more press. Then the next week he has another crazy catch…. What you have to worry about as far as how much is he worth, is what happens if he was clearly #1 or #2 as far as the defense sees. Daboll is so awesome at calling plays and getting receivers lost to a defense. What happens when he faces a good corner one on one or the safety leans to his side? Not saying he won’t rise to the occasion I’m saying we don’t know. We signed Sanders for two reasons. One, to play #2 WR, meaning they didn’t think Davis was good enough (yet?) The other reason was to get another weapon so we don’t run out (like we did two seasons ago). So, is he ready to take #2 now? I think we’ll find out by who the Vills get to replace Sanders. I say we get someone because we can’t run out of weapons. How good he is and how much we play him will tell us maybe, what the Bills think of him this year. He sez his idle was Larry Fitzgerald and that’s exactly who he reminds me of. Maybe Gabriel is an inch taller and a hair slower? I would rather sign Davis over Knox and the reason is hands and clutch performing. I don’t think we’ll keep both….Too much moolah. I’d love to keep both though. They are Buffalo Bills through and through to me…. Knox is a decent blocker too but pound for pound Davis is probably better…. Ever notice how our run game clicks when Davis comes in? Go Bills! -
Well, first off, you absolutely have to count Diggs. In what world would you ignore that? Secondly, it is way too early to conclude anything about either draft. I like Basham too but I like Epenesa as well. AJ has some meanness like Jerry Hughes. He needs way more reps and time at the position. It is also difficult to judge DEs in this defense. It sure looks like the DEs just do what the called defense tells them to do and often, that’s just walk the OT back into the QB. Not my cup of tea, but that’s the defense. A good example (but there are tons of them) is Harrison Philips. He almost had no value last offseason and he shocked everyone and came on strong the second half of the season. Maybe someone will pay him now?. I hope we don’t give him a big contract though… Unlikely he plays a long time with that knee… He’s a trooper and a off-field A+ so I hope he wants to stay but we’d be crazy to pay him over 5…. I think Milano and Tremaine are both overpaid by ~ 2 mill each.
-
I think stranger things have happened. Although, more than half the time we do not ask our ends to the OT. We ask them to walk the OT back towards the QB. If you’re doing that a lot, it is very hard to get a lot of sacks. Our ends no longer (since Leslie) read the play every down either. They just do what is asked of them. Leslie Billieved if everyone does their job asked of them, we will have a very good D. I prefer getting smart players and having them read the play as it happens. We do this sometimes but not very often, but moreso in the playoffs, imho… So it is hard for any DL to make a pro bowl in Buffalo, imho… Having said that, I think Rousseau is very young and we don’t even really know what we have here yet. He has the frame to gain a lot of muscle if the Bills want him too, IDK? We’ll see….But he’s super young super large, and very athletic . It looks like he lacks a burst but I think he could really change his body in that regard too. I’m saying getting way stronger in his glutes and calfs to be more like Bruce (bubble butt) Smith. I’m certain Bruce told him it’s all in the glutes and to get a stair master. We have to remember he gained 30 LBs in one year. He could gain another 30 easy and play at Super’s weight, we don’t know what we have yet. Go Bills! And that means both ways. We don’t know if he’s a pro bowler or a below average player, we just don’t know yet, he’s a kid. Pretty interesting, thanks.

In hindsight, what’s your worst “hot take” on TSW ever?
billybrew1 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was a huge Donahoe fane when he first got here but immediately hated him at first news of signing that washed-up Lawyer Milloy and I knew immediately it meant we would lose Pat Williams and Antoine Winfield and I absolutely hated that trade. Winfield in just four years, is still one of my favorite Bills of all-time and PW was a winner. I can’t Billieve he made that move….Just insane. Did someone pay him to wreck the Bills? I wonder. I still am a Chan Gailey fan. He made our OL respectable for the first time since Kelly. He ran a good offense. He’s a good OC. Oops! I just saw three, sorry. My brother was a huge Ryan Leaf fan. I did not watch college that year much… Maybe I was slightly good at admitting I knew nothing often? Like with Leaf. I just said, I have no idea. That’s how I was mostly with Allen but I recognized his vast potential just seeing college film and his combine and I tend to support Bills even though I turned my TV off after we failed to trade up for Rothlesburger….Also laughed at Donte Whitner pick when that giant DT the ravens took was still on board (just awful Bills moves.) I love super tackles and Ted Washington is my second favorite Bill (but Allen is closing fast!). My brothers laugh at me for thinking the Bills are going to do better than most think, but I got them since McD was hired anyway… -
In hindsight, what’s your worst “hot take” on TSW ever?
billybrew1 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
Out of your list there I only rooted for Johnson but I still stand by it to this day. But I rooted for Rex when he initially got here because he was the Bills coach, it didn’t take long at all to know he should go. I was open-minded on Allen because, you know, I didn’t know. It didn’t take long for me to realize what we got with him. He is like Bruce Smith, the best at his position, he just plays QB. My biggest mistake was thinking the Bills team after Fitzpatrick signed his contract and our defense just signed Super and we had Jerry, Dareus and Kyle, backed by decent players, I think if I wasn’t married that I would have bet a very large sum of money that that team would makes the playoffs. I thought we would kill the jets in week one and Rex’s team beat us by around 40. Mario the Bills hid he had a bad wrist and was completely ineffective and Kyle went out for the year. And we had this other end, Anderson from the bears, and he got hurt in that game out for the year and Fitz threw to the opposition and ***** his pants. I couldn’t Billieve it, I was crushed. Maybe it 2013? I finally block the whole Billsian event a little bit. The Bills whole season sucked and I’m still mad about the Bills lying about Super and Kyle…hiding their injuries….Ughh! What an awful memory but I guess, it could have been a whole lot worse if I put that bet in. I advise not to bet on football because that wasn’t the only game I was completely mystified by the results. It happens all the time…. But that is why I hope Mr. McBeane tries to really go for it if he thinks he is close enough. You really need a Super Team to make through the season, the playoffs and to win that Super Bowl. So many things can weaken you. And in the end, Cincy almost won that game after Bailey went out. Could you imagine Bills fans criticizing Leslie about letting Cupp run all over the field, Willy-Billy once Bailey was injured? How did Cincy not double teamCupp every play? Beats me? But anyway, defense won the game yet again, defense usually wins the Super Bowl. As Aaron Donald just took over and got them the game. Thats the NFL’s biggest fallacy. That it is just about offense now. That’s never been true, maybe for a few weeks in the regular season, but once the playoffs start, you better have a good defense to win it all. Go Bills!y -
AFC Opposition FA move you fear
billybrew1 replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think you’re right and losing their HC for no good reason has to bother them as well. I think they hate Allen like I hate Brady….. That defense was born to stop Allen and he just thrashes them no matter what they do. That’s insane. While Brady totally dominated us and Jerry, Super, Kyle and Darius only got him good that one time ….Oh, how I hated that they couldn’t get him. Even when really tagged him good it was the pass which was a completion I think? Maybe not, but Jerry got him square in the ribs and Brady stunk for like 6-8 weeks after that. There was no press about the hit or the injury, thought he was just slumping but I knew better; Jerry got him good for once…. I don’t think Miami or any team the Bills play will ever have that kind of talent, maybe Pittsburgh with Watt and that awesome DT. Man, they are good. They both play probably better than anyone in our foursome but we had a solid four. I think they underachieved like crazy myself…. They should have been better, more aggressive….Super always taking plays off….Kyle was getting old…IDK? That’s a lot of talent to hardly ever touch Brady…. Glad all that is over with I guess…. JA to the SB or bust! Go Bills!
