Our OL really struggled early last year and this showed in Josh’s game as it should. Give Josh some decent protection so he’s expects some time, and get out his way. TDs are coming….. PS - about that luck, we sure do need that. Any team, even ones that have a process to eliminate injuries can be struck down just like that. Like Tre last year, we may not have lost a lot of players, but sure lost a very key one….

An Idea for a potential Bills draft trade down with Atlanta!
billybrew1 replied to JaCrispy's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wouldn’t mind a small trade down and then trade up…. Get a CB, OG and WR…..before 89….. Unless we can get a good guard at 89? I think we need three good players out of this draft, a OG, WR and CB…. Then we need help at CB,LB and P….. -
Me too….The fishies have been supplying the Bills and patsies with a couple quality players here and there… Wesley Walker, Mike Gilleslee, Chris Hogan, Jordan Phillips, Devante Parker….I feel I missing a couple…. thanks, fishes! And you’re right, I don’t think Parker is an impact WR, maybe NE gets one in the draft? Meh….We’ll still crush them….

We’re going to do both (a vet and a draft pick) absolutely. After signing the vet it may not be the first pick but round four at the very latest probably first to third round. If by some chance the FA signing falls thru, then we have to draft two guys that can play possibly in week one. In fact we may get three corners. I list needs as CB -OG/WR (tie) another corner, RB, LB, P, OT…. I think we need a player at each position. RB is a tough one. We have good backs in Singletary, Duke Johnson and Moss but none have Star potential. The only way we should take a back is if the Back is easily BPA but then we’d lose out on the better WRs and without him if Davis or Diggs goes down we’re probably screwed. So it’s a conundrum. A great back could take us to another level, but if Diggs goes down it could cripple the offense. We need another good outside WR. I’d say for sure. The same almost with OG we need a capable backup and someone to replace Saffold next year (probably). Another thing to note is that Saffold is now injury prone at 34 so the OG need is even higher….that’s why I have it as a tie with WR. To sum up, we’ve really gotta hit CB, WR and OG with good draft picks… LB is also is also a sneaky need with Klein gone….We’ll have trouble going to our true 4-3 and when Edmunds or Milano goes down the need is greatly multiplied. (And Milano usually goes down a couple weeks.) Bottom line: Not only do you need the best 22, it’s the best 53 that wins SuperBowls. You gotta have that depth to win Super Bowls. Not many people think we still have many holes but we do. We could even use a guy that can challenge Doyle for the swing OT job too, even if he doesn’t make the team, maybe we can call him up from the practice squad if someone goes down. Doyle is still unknown. Be prepared! Go Bills! Go Bills!

Having said that, I don’t think the Bills absolutely go CB like most in round…. I think the Bills can and should go BPA in round one at CB, OG or WR with an outside long shot at DE if there is a true pass rusher at 25… What I dream about is a tradedown so the Bills can hit CB, RB, WR and OG with picks in the third round or higher….maybe trade up a bit after trading down….something like 35, 45, 57 and 75…. Burn up those low picks. PS I think the Zbills sign a vet so using two higher picks on CB isn’t necessary….just gotta save that high six for a punter…then the only position I missed is LB…. Maybe we can save the other sixth for that…. Maybe trust in Zduke Johnson who’s pretty good and take that second CB or get a better LB… But WR, CB and OG are must with decent picks, imho…

Oh! Wow! 10 mill one year deal? IDK? For a legend? I thought we were collecting them? Saffold, Miller…. IDK? It would have been cool to sign him…. Very happy to see the Bills are interested. C’mon McBeane! Sign is that corner and this draft might turn out to be legendary. Most impactful player in every round. Trade 5, 6 and 7 to go as high as we can….maybe a high fourth? Low third? We would have six picks. Draft: WR, RB, CB, OL, CB or LB, P….. We would have the most electric offense the NFL has ever seen. #1 of all-time! Better than the greatest show on turf! #1! C’mon! I can feel it! Sign Joe Haden! Go Bills! LOL, you know Haden is shot?

Other teams getting great QBs is just complete BS. For 20+ years we have waited for a QB and now that we finally have one, everybody else is finding one. There used to be two, three QBs in the league, Now that we have one, it’s just BS that’s all! Total BS!

FYI: Josh Allen #3 in NFL QB Index. Featured on NFL Network 3/30

He was #1 last season in the playoffs, imho…. JA is #1! Go Bills! -
Um…. ???…..Uh….. McDermot is also interesting.

You don't draft a guard in the 1st ... or do you?
billybrew1 replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills should definitely go BPA at 25. I really hope they do. Whether a G, DE, CB, WR or DT….the best damn player overall. Though…a RB probably messes things up… But we can give Allen (Saffold is here only a year) a G or WR though…..We should take the highest rated player…. I’d love to hear we extended Diggs to a very reasonable contract and that signing allows us to sign one more FA…. A good vet CB…. Make the Bills happy, Diggs happy and let’s us go into that draft able to tip-toe around taking BPA in every pick just about…..It would allow us to take the BPA and that’s beautiful. There’s going to be a good player at 25 at G, CB or WR….and we can take whichever one falls….Then, I would think we were truly the best team in the NFL….after that draft. -
Bills match Bears Offer Sheet for Ryan Bates, 4 yr deal
billybrew1 replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is great news! I sure hope Bates can live up to this contract. He’s young enough that’s for sure. So, what we were seeing last December andJanuary was real, that I’d, he was very good. And Bates can play RG well too I imagine….I hope RG is his best position and we have a great starting OL now. I don’t know if Beane wanted someone else to negotiate Bates contract or was trying to get away with something? Congratulations, Ryan Bates! You’re a Buffalo Bills thru and thru now. -

We need two cornerbacks for September at the very least. -
That’s pretty awesome for a nine year old to remember that, wow! Don’t you wish you remembered finance information like that? I actually thought I was remarkable remembering that tea but I was 19 in 1980, LOL!

I watched the first quarter. I forgot about Jeff Nixon playing with Steve Freeman as a safety pair. They were very good together but I don’t recall Jeff Nixon playing that often. So Hyde and Poyer are the best safety pair to Don the red, white and blue… It was to see the Bills with all their RBs. Joe Cribbs, Curtis Brown and Roosevelt Leaks all played a lot in the first quarter and most of the O went thru them. I didn’t know CB was a FB? Strange, I remember him as more of a backup RB…But what a sensational backfield that was. Plus they had Jerry Butler healthy in this game. Another oft-injured player. Butler, Nelson, Nixon all played so the Bills were at full strength in this one. I assume we won and that is probably the reason why. Butler would definitely be in the HOF if he could stay healthy. He was a top WR in the NFL when healthy. And Frank Lewis, was a superb #2 WR. It looks so strange now seeing an offense with a split back O every play. That was a really great team. If that team could stay healthy there was no doubt to me that they could have won a Super Bowl. So frustrating to have so many players be in and out of the lineup. They probably needed better turf and McD’s process to keep them healthy. I’m glad we’re getting real turf for the new stadium. Whoever posted this, thank you. It was very nice to see the Bills under Chuck Knox again. Though I still don’t recall any significance to this game. It was definitely early in the season as I saw Curtis Brown (I think) swatting at a bug. It was warm and sunny. The first time Jim Kelly’s team best the Raiders it signified a changing of the guard in the AFC. One of which, the raiders never recovered. So, huge game. That Raider center was Steve Winnewski or something like that….The Big, Bad Bills!!! Go Bills! PS - The furthest I go back is OJ….I still say he was easily the best back of all-time. Before OJ it gets all blurry….Although the oldest team I really remember well is this one. I can’t Billieve Rueben Gant got a pass! LOL!
-
I know I’ve seen it, but I cannot put it in historical context either. I thought the Bruce Smith, Cornelius Bennett, Shane Conlan “Big, Bad Bills” was THE Bills-Oakland game to watch? The one where they got on the cover beating up that Raider center? I remember the Chuck Knox team very fondly….I guess I’d have to watch to see what’s going on…. Its too bad younger Bills fans can’t really relate to that team as they were very close to a Super Bowl team. Lotsa fond Bills players from that team, the one that broke the Miami curse. Jim Haslett -Fred Smerlas and Shane Nelson creating the Bermuda Triangle (where no one comes out of) That defense had 11 good football players and was better than the sum of their parts. The trouble was Shane Nelson could not stay healthy…. That D went to another level when he was available.

The Buffalo Bills are the best team in the NFL
billybrew1 replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Von might end up being that pass rusher we lacked but we have no idea now. The whole DL is practically brand new. We have three young ends that all have to take a big step up if we are have a good D. Our DTs also have to make a huge difference. Those are two huge ifs along the DL…. Right now our only healthy CB is Dane Jackson…. That just ain’t right, we need a ton of help in the draft there and right now the first pick in the draft, it looks like the talent is going to be at the WR position (and not the CB position). I should mention we definitely could use a first pick at WR as well…. So, what I thought we should do this offseason, that is, build a much better, faster secondary, is probably not in the cards. Finally, we have no starting RG right now….nor his backup unless Mancz is a good backup at RG, IDK? Lotsa imperfections all over the Bills… If we get out the check book somehow, LOL, we can solve this mess….One or two key signings, say a corner and a guard, alleviates these problems…. Then we could go: WR, CB, OL, CB, OL, P, LB…. But that assumes we are good on the DL which is still very much up in the air…. -
The Buffalo Bills are the best team in the NFL
billybrew1 replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Myself? I buy this mag every year, it’s a program for every team in the league after FA and the draft. While it’s very well written I make my own opinions…..I don’t know what really happened in FA except for the bills…so I can’t really make an intelligent decision until I read it thru…. Like SD….er, I mean the chargers…..They have to be really loaded don’t they? We have gaping holes at G and corner….and I think we need another good outside WR….plus IDK what Diggs is going to do? Now if we kept Bates extended Stephon and sign Joe Haden I’d know we could finish the team in the draft…. We could go: WR, CB, OL, CB, OL, P, LB,….. that sounds like a pretty good team. Though I still have huge questions about the defense…..The young ends still have to make big jumps. The 3 DTs we signed havta both; shutdown the run and push the pocket very well….If Ed is doubled, the other DT has to win. That didn’t happen much last year….Even if it did those guys are gone. Then the outside corner jobs are up in the air….We might have lots of shoulder shrugging…. -
What makes you say that? The NFL has an established time of approximately one year recovery from a torn ACL…. And sometimes it’s longer or the player takes a long time to feel comfortable. Some even lose their extreme speed. If Tre comes back in Late October and plays well that would be awesome…a great achievement by Tre… LOL….
-
Why not because of Tre white? On schedule means next November….
-
That sounds horrible! At the very least we have to start a rookie CB but I was hoping to get someone better than Dane Jackson… We are in huge trouble at corner. Week one is going to be scary back there. And then at guard it’s the same thing. Ford has showed us time and again he is pretty bad and that’s all we got at RG… What do we do? Go: CB, CB, OG, WR, OG, P, LB? That’s asking a lot for a third rounder to start at RG. Maybe: CB, OL, CB, OL? Then you’re probably starting a third rounder at CB…. Plus, I really wanted a WR by the 2nd round this year. I don’t think we can afford to do that with almost zero corners and RGs…
-
I’m really hoping we’re waiting for the price to come down on corners…. I really am. With Bates gone we need (at least) two corners and two OGs…
