Drag is art, drag is not a reflection of your gender (ask Dustin Hoffman, Robin Williams, etc). it’s just bizarre for so many straight men have a desire to speak about drag. Drag and being trans really have zero correlation. Drag is an art form that’s been used since the Renaissance (if not prior) where as the trans issue is a medical/mental health one.

Im assuming you didn’t have a couple moments to use Google… I is Intersex, those children born with sexual organs from both sexes. The parents and medical team can decide to do surgery to remove one set of the organs however, once the child hits puberty there is a chance they could display characteristics of the gender that was removed. This creates a litany of mental and physical issues for that young adult. A is Asexual, those who have no sexual attraction to either sex. These are two very small subsets that previously didn’t have a community to advocate on behalf of. They were added into the LGBT community in an effort to raise awareness and provide resources.

Florida requires a marriage for gay couples to adopt, this requirement is not there for straight couples or singles. North Dakota and Arkansas have the same statute. Tennessee allows adoption agencies to still receive state funding even if they choose to bar same sex couples from adopting. Also, I think a lot of the fear is not being what are the laws currently, but what changes could come. A lot of the Project 2025 plan aims to remove fed rights from LGBT folks and giving them back to the states. This would in turn create a situation where a LGBT person in NY would be living under a very different set of laws than someone in Alabama or Florida. The 2022 Respect of Marriage act protected LGBT folks in the case of FL, ND, and AR adoption laws, but if that goes back to a state decision those bans would come back really quickly I fear.

I’ll be in Chicago on unrelated travel during the event. Really hope we see some of the pop up protest events take place and show solidarity in a peaceful, yet forceful way. Would’ve been nice is RATM had stuck it out through this election.

There’s still adoption agencies/orgs that discriminate against LGBT couples due to “religious protection”. Children being in the foster system is considered a better outcome than allowing a LGBT couple to adopt. Neither you, nor me, will solve that problem on a forum so a debate is not needed, but is an issue that is still valid. Semi un-related, but being a ***** athlete growing up, there is pretty much zero representation in professional sports. Im not telling anyone to come out (you do you and at your own pace!) but seeing the leagues and athletic orgs do nothing about homophobic language in sports is disheartening. Just this week we had a Red Sox call a fan a f*ggot, on top of numerous NBA, NHL, and NFL athletes also doing similar in the last few years. Not a single one of these athletes received a suspension… Call someone a f*got at your workplace and you’re fired immediately. Now this isn’t an issue that a President could impact in any meaningful way, but it would be nice to see a candidate that put pressure on these orgs. Not looking for rainbows and grindr ads on sporting events, but a firm stance on hate speech or all types would go a long way in helping young ***** athletes feel more comfortable. also, why is q*eer a banned word here ha?

As an Independent I have zero horses in this race, outside of personal interests (LGBT rights, Israeli ceasefire, student loan reform and forgiveness). This is *checks notes* a football forum, not exactly a hotbed of intellectual thought and policy discussion. No shade to football fans, as I am one as well.
