10-6, why so hard to believe?
texasabres replied to Hail Flutie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We must be the most moral team in the league at this point... at least better than the Fins. -
most brutal plays in Bills' history
texasabres replied to KikO M G's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember Lee Woodall's return of a Holmes goal-line fumble in 1995. Ever since then I've worried about the 1 yard line. -
Jonathan Martin AWOL, Incognito suspended
texasabres replied to uncle flap's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe the mental issues are on the part of the offenders. They need to feel successful at the expense of others. It seems a sane response to me to just get away from such a**h***s. -
**Official Buffalo Bills @ NY Jets GDT**
texasabres replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed for now. hoping I'm wrong. -
Totally with you on that one. But I just don't get the logic. Does "in the grasp" mean that the player has no chance? I don't understand why Dareus gets the .5 sack on that one.
-
I was rewatching the game, and on the sack Mario shared with Dareus, Cam fumbled the ball. The refs called in the grasp over the mic. Watching in super slowmo, I am sure that the ball is out before Dareus makes contact. So either Cam fumbled and the sack is shared (w/ Bills recovery) or the call is dead before Dareus hits and Mario has a full sack. This play was important, because the next play is the pre-punt holding that led to the touchdown. In retrospect, I'm glad we didn't review because had we lost we could not stop the clock later. But they might reconsider the play for Mario's sake. Did anyone else look at that play? What am I missing?

Radio play-by-play synced to live action?
texasabres replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you have a DVR and can pause live action, just self synch. It takes a bit of pausing and starting, but once you get it perfect (takes me about two plays) it stays that way until halftime. Then you have to do it again in the 2nd half. -
Colts sign Da"rick Rogers to their Practice Squad
texasabres replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's my take. Sign him off their PS if we get in injury trouble. -
Why did the Bills cut their roster to 50 ?
texasabres replied to MAGIC MAN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the practice squad theory is most correct. You cut a bunch of guys to clear waivers, see you you can sign from other teams and which of your cuts are signed, then add back the excess players whom you wanted on PS and are still available AFTER you look for starting quality players from other teams. Would honestly prefer that it is the "right thing to do" argument. -
It's $6000 minimum a week. If a team pays more, the extra counts against the cap. Some teams pay more to attract better players. Don't know about Bills

Updated Roster at 55 - next cuts?
texasabres replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a good thread. Kudos to OP for summarizing. -
I wouldn't suggest CJ. Bell and CJ are not comparable players. Byrd may be. K. Williams may be. There are players out there who could be gotten. You all know more than me about other teams' rosters. What I am asking is is there a 3-way trade that would make sense for the Bills? Actually, I'm not sure. That is a great question.
-
Okay, I think the Bills cannot be helped by a straight up trade at this point, but we need talent, look like we will have a top draft pick, and have a few proven players who are neither winners nor long-term solutions. Is there a three-way deal out there that is 1) realistic and 2) will provide long-term culture change? I am thinking of the famous Biscuit trade with this thread, obviously. Seems like the only way to get talent. Any suggestions?

Based upon SF and Seattle this year, I start Kolb. Let him lose the job while EJ gains confidence facing 2nd stringers. By the 3rd week of preseason, you either find out that Kolb is elite or he shows you (much more likely) that you are smart to give the rookie a chance and that's the end of any controversy. That strategy worked perfectly for both Seattle and SF, though it took SF a little longer to make the move.

The fallacy of the NFL sack leaders
texasabres replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd like to see how the other players on the "sack leaders'" teams fared on the leaders' off days. It might be the case that some teams game plan around the sack leader. That should show in the numbers of other players on their teams. If a player is double or consistently chipped, then you should see better numbers in their off games by other players. Just a hunch. That would likely demonstrate their overall worth to the team. -
The Rise and Fall (?) of Vic Carucci

The factory closed in the Seventies. -
Of course it did. They don't have to pay him. It saved us no cap space. That is what you mean.

Sabres schedule: Bills weekends
texasabres replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They should have scheduled a Saturday Sabres/Leafs game in TO the night before the Bills played in TO. That would make for a good vacation weekend.
