  1. Hangartner was getting burned repeatedly in the preseason, they shouldn't be criticized for cutting him, but rather for putting Levitre in a poor position when Urbik proved able and on the roster.
  2. Fine, they're role players who presumably want good starter money. They should just sign them for whatever they want because they don't have anything better currently? Or cause the Bills have the cap space to? Also the tone from Nix's comments on Chandler were that he feels he could be replaced with just about anyone. Not saying it's true, but if that's his feelings on the guy why would he sign him to a big money contract. I'm with you on wanting them to retain their current players, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect them to also be somewhat responsible with the contracts handed out to these "role" players.
  3. Bryon Scott being one of the 2 LBs typically
  4. It would mean that if those were the only two options, but they're not. I hope they remain in a 34 base for 2011, I feel there are more holes to fill in a 43 than there are in a 34 with their current roster. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-2/Transcript-General-Manager-Buddy-Nix/037507a7-365d-401e-9d19-477e152d0082 47% of the time they were in a nickel defense which has 4 down linemen according to Nix. Not a 43 look. From where I've seen Upshaw ranked on draft boards pick #10 would be a bit of a reach for him and the same statement could be said for them passing on someone like Melvin Ingram. So I don't think passing on Upshaw alone means anything regarding the defensive system that they plan on playing. However if they do draft him I think it is a signal that they will remain in a 34 as that is where he is best suited.
  5. Spending the money on mediocre players continues the never ending cycle of mediocrity.
  6. A full season of good LT play would be better than a half and unless the price for Bell represents that I wouldn't bother signing him. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-2/Transcript-General-Manager-Buddy-Nix/037507a7-365d-401e-9d19-477e152d0082 Sounds to me like Scott may be overvaluing his one big season in Buddy's eyes. I'm guessing he gets to test the market. Other than SJ none of these guys are "stars".

  8. Kiwanuka was a free agent last offseason and signed a two year deal with NYG: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3616/mathias-kiwanuka I don't think Branch, a collegiate DE, will be playing OLB other than in a 34 system. I like him if they stay in the system they played last year.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoCEHPW0Vgc When has he played in the 34? I liked him when he was coming out of college and thought he'd be a great player in Houston, however they cut him when they switched to the 34 and he went to another 43 team in Chicago.
  10. I think he's older and smaller than what they're looking for.

  12. I'm guessing they'll bring in one guy either via free agency or in the first round of the draft who will play 34 OLB and can play DE when they go to a 4 man line. It doesn't sound like Nix is counting on Merriman.
  13. The explanation regarding Johnson is exactly right, however the new CBA has changed the way the tag is calculated: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8247df3a/article/franchisetag-values-will-be-down-across-the-board-in-2012
  14. He didn't have back issues before they drafted him, it's one of those TBD myths.

  16. The MLB was from Pitt, familiar with Wannstedt.
  17. I think Lavonte David, at his size and the stress that Nix and Co put on size, is not even a consideration for this team. I assume he's not listed because according to their mock he's off the board when the Bills pick in the 2nd round. I like him as well and wouldn't mind the LT in the 1st round and either Lewis or the WR Jeffrey in the 2nd (hoping they fall). Also, Brandon Jenkins is returning to school.
  18. They removed seats to add luxury boxes, they don't tarp off seats as in Jacksonville. Big difference.
  19. While Coples best fit is likely as a 43 DE, can he play 34 DE as well? Just thinking that if they are in a 4 man front 47% of the time as Nix stated Coples could be a DE, and also has the size, length and strength to play DE in their 3 man fronts as well. He also played DT at North Carolina his junior season.
  20. That's what I was thinking also.
  21. He actually said exactly that: http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-2/Transcript-General-Manager-Buddy-Nix/037507a7-365d-401e-9d19-477e152d0082
  22. Dave Campo was let go today by Dallas, he would have been in Dallas with both Wanny and Chan. Bob Sanders was with Wanny in Miami as linebackers coach.
  23. Buddy was also on with Schopp & Bulldog this afternoon: http://www.wgr550.com/topic/play_window.php?audioType=Episode&audioId=5630665
  24. Agreed, there are 32 teams, therefore 32 #1 wide receivers. He's definately in the top 32 WRs in the league.
  25. If WGR is carrying it it'll probably be in their audio vault.
