Bills interested in retaining Corey McIntyre
D521646 replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not sure I keep Corey.. At least not for big money so he'll probably walk for those reasons. Big FB's are a dime a dozen, but I do grant you that his ST play is very good. Tim- -
Fan Opinion Poll - 2013 draft First 3 rds.
D521646 replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I voted WR, LB, QB in that order. I think in this draft more than nay other, we can grab impact players in the first two rounds easily, and grab our QB in round three. Nassib, Manuel, Bray either are projects and I'm ok with that. However, if Barkley somehow makes it into the second round I would consider a trade up for him, and I would also consider a trade back scenario at the 8th pick. Nix has some flexibiloty here this year, IMO. Tim- -
I think Millner is gone with the Lions pick to be honest. They need big-time help there. Tim-
-
This is the way I see it happening and either scenario would be ok with me, but I will add that Patterson at 8 (If Barkley/Smith are gone) and Bray at 41 also works. Tim-
-
The point I think people are saying with passing on Smith at 8 is that, there really isn't much of a drop-off from him to the Bray's of the world. If he's there at 8 and some team wants to give us another second we'd be fools not to take that deal. Not that I care much what the experts are saying on Smith and the rest of the QB crop, but what they are saying isn't good, and that should make you at least a bit worried. Lets face it, the MISTAKE if anything would be the Bills reaching this year. Go with sure talent at WR/LB, and draft a QB as a project, Manuel, Nassib, Bray, any of these guys will be there 2nd maybe 3rd round. Don't drink the Kool Aid, and to be honest I don't think Marrone and Nix are, so lets hope. Tim-

From the NFL Combine blog Linky: http://profootball.s.../2/1268712.html Anyone know anything about this kid? Looked at his stats, and he caught 111 passes in 2011 and 76 last year. Impressive. Tim-

Tarvaris Jackson re-signs with Bills
D521646 replied to scurdog1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And I remember last year when we got TJ I went to the Hawks message boards to see what they were saying and almost all of it was positive about T Jax. They liked his grit, and were sorry to see him go. I wonder what another teams fans coming here reading up on fitz would play out like? TJ never got a chance last year. This year he will, and we can save all of our crystal ball skillz until then. To me this means what others have stated. 1. We are giving ourselves leverage for a restructure of Fitz contract. 2. We are giving a classy well-liked Qb a shot at starting. 3. We are most certainly NOT going to draft a QB in the 1st, and maybe not even the 2nd round, and this is a good thing. 4. Coach tunred a really bad, crappy program into a decent one which indicates that he has a good measure on evaluating talent. I personally like the signing, as I am a big advocate of the Bills getting stronger at WR, and LB before addressing a weak QB class. Tim- -

Dillusions of an Armchair GM, v. 1-1
D521646 replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mostly have no problem with this, less your draft picks from rd 2 on. I like the idea of a QB in the later rounds as opposed to early since like it or not, Fitz is starting next year. The only FA I'd add is Talib, but for some reason I'm getting the feeling that Nix/Whaley aren't going to be shopping a whole lot in FA this year especially since we really need to sign the Byrdman and Levitre. Patterson is a play maker and is a threat to score every single time he touches the ball. He's multi-dimmensional (Like the Brad Smith we all thought we were getting) and a huge upgrade to Smith. He absolutely should be the Bills first draft pick hands down!! Tim- -
For real dawg^^^^ LOL Tim-

Love that he dropped the pass from Big Boi at the end.. Big Boi "For real Dawg?" LOL Tim-

Which QB-WR combination do you draft?
D521646 replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I'm the GM of the Bills and assuming FA doesn't change things (I know but lets play anyway) I pick Patterson with my first pick. Why? Well he's the Brad Smith that we were all hoping for when we nabbed him from the Jets. Patterson is a threat to take it home everytime he touches the ball, period. He is multi-dimmensional in that he can return kicks, line up in the backfield, and play WR. His ONLY knock is that he drops some balls that you wouldn't expect an NFL elite player to drop. These are mainly focusing issues and can be fixed with the right coaching. He's the most dynamic player in the draft, IMO, and not a single analyst would have a problem with the Bills taking a WR as their first pick. In the second round is where we grab our QB of the future. IMO, there is not a single QB in this draft that would start in 2013. I know some of them will, but in all honesty I don't see a starting caliber rookie QB with any of these guys. That said, Fitz is the guy to lead us into the season next year. Assuming Smith is gone and Barkley, Wilson in the first rounds, that leaves Nassib (best strategic pick since he wouldn't be starting but already knows the offense leaving more time to spend on grooming, and in the event Fitz goes down, he can start with little effort), Bray, Manuel, Glennon etc.. I'm ok with either of these guys, but if it were up to me, I wait another round hoping one of them falls. If that happens, I grab the BEST LB available in the second, and draft my QB of the future in the third round. Tim- -
How is it any more or less crazy than what "experts" are saying about the potential Revis trade? Tim-
-
There are always what if's... Look, I'm NOT saying this would happen, but it's not completely out of the realm, and would be a good move on the Bills FO is they made such a deal. Tim-
-
No I get it, but Mario was the 1st overall pick in 06, and there are no FA DE's of his calibre this year. Ask yourself whether the Jags fans would be more excited about Mario coming to them, or any 1st round DE they might pick? Make no mistake there was a "fans in the seats" factor for us signing Mario last year, as any good business decision should include. I dunno, my point is that I think trading Mario now is better than riding his contract out. Unless he has some amazing year next year, I see no reason to believe that he gets more than 14 sacks in any given year. Tim-
-
Well, I'm not so sure the Jags wouldn't give up that much. The only other team would be Tampa Bay. The Jags need to fill seats, that much is a given and a high profile trade would do just that. They need a stud DE more than we do. I forgot to mention that if the Ravens are willing to let Flacco walk that we would be instant contenders for sighing him this year, but if they tag him we would also be in the market next year. Tim-
-
Ok slow today at work and was thinking about some crazy out there trades assuming value as my core goal. That said, I offer Mario Williams to Jacksonville for their 1st, and second pick this year and a third next year. Why it makes sense? Jags are slotted to need a stud DE in almost all the draft mocks as their 1st pick (2nd overall) this year. Rumor was that the Jags were one of two teams in the hunt for Mario (Bears the other) when we nabbed him last year; thirdly they have the cap room to do it, and fourthly, they need fans in the seats!!!!! Use the 2nd overall pick to collect more draft picks -or- offer the 2nd overall pick to the Jets for the rental rights to Revis, with no long term contract stipulation required, however he MUST pass a physical. Revis contract is 6m this year w/ incentives, and he wants what some are reporting to be upwards of 15m a year on a new contract thereafter. We use the the Jags 2nd round pick, and our 2nd round pick to trade back into the first and grab our QB, LB, CB, WR, OL. (in no particular order but depending on who we grab at 8, and how the draft pans out) -or- we stand pat with the two high 2nd round picks and select BPA, pressumably a DE.. My thinking here is that Pettine has done pretty well without a pass rush on the Jets the last few years, and lets face it, Mario certainly didn't live up to the 100m contract he sighed last year so does anyone really think we can't at least get close to the 11 sacks Mario got this year with drafting a solid DE in the draft that is riddled with defensive and OL talent? My thinking again is that even if Revis decides to run for the 2014 crazy money, we'll have shed a ton of cap space to be a player in FA next year, in addition we have hopefully solidified some gapping holes on D, and added some offensive help to whoever we have at QB this year, whether Fitz or anyone else. So to recap, the goal is to free up cap space and or improve our options for 2014. Add a stud CB, -or- allow us some flexibility in a defensively talented 2013 draft. Keep us flexible in signing key players such as Byrd, Levitre Dump a bloated ill advised contract in Mario shine some brightness on a team that should be in a good position to compete in 2013, and into the future. Take the steam out of the Jets off-season hype surrounding Revis. Mario will command way more interest than Revis, IMO. Thoughts? Tim-
-
Hey I'm the one that started the "Why not Flacco" thread, but ummm... No thanks. With the Ravens it's tough to tell just how good Flacco is. If Champ Bailey plays prevent defense Flacco wouldn't even be in the SB this year, so?? 20m is steep, thanks but no thanks! Tim-

How would Fitzpatrick play outside of Buffalo?
D521646 replied to ny33's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The ONLY way Fitz is not here challenging for the starting QB spot is if he is offered as part of a trade package. Other than that, there is zero reason business-wsie to cut him prior to camp. Get used to him being here folks. Me, I'm somewhat excited, although guarded, to see if our defense improves dramatically how well Fitz can be a game manager using the likes of his talented running backs more. Draft weapons like WR C. Patterson in the first, LB, QB, LB, CB, or Patterson, QB, LB, LB, CB, K or whatever and I think we'll truly see what Fitz can do with running this team with a lead. I understand that our D was much improved at the end of the season holding opponents to under 20 ppg and Fitz still lost, BUT I'm willing to lay some if not most of that blame on Gailey's play calling at crucuial times. Football isn't played in a vaccum. A few bounces here, some luck there and we're 10 - 6 last year. It's that close, and as such, would we all be clammouring for getting rid of Fitz then? Not likely.. Not to deflect blame from Fitz, some of that luck can be generated by exceptional play at the right moments, and that was lacking as it is with all NFL teams at times, but, ushering Fitz out of town now makes no sense. Especially when the alternative options are less than appealing. It is my opinion that we should keep Fitz (As we're going to anyway) and give him that shot to compete in camp. My guess is that his intelligence will impress both Hacket and Marrone, so much so that he earns a spot on the roster, and if we don't find that diamond in the rough through the draft or some miracle FA signing, Fitz is our starting Qb next year, albeit with what amounts to a much improved defense and better weapons. This^^^ Particularly the last point. He's a cancer for a bunch of guys trying to form an team identity. We don't need him! Tim-
-
I pray Nix isn't that stupid.. Revis can pound sand for all I care. As I said earlier, he's not worth more than a 3rd and that's all the Jets will get for him, IMO. Tim-
