Definitely the coaching. It's not even an argument anymore. This coaching staff has no clue how to get the best out of young players. Worse still, they aren't even trying to find out. Our coaching staff just shows up to collect a check. Worthless. -Every last one of them.

Wow. So young. Rest in peace, big guy.

Whats happening in San Diego is totally not Norv's fault but WHATEVER. You guys think Phillip Rivers is some kind of Joe Montana. Let's set the record straight. Like a lot of teams the Bolts have been plagued with injuries. Especially to their O-line, McNeil, Dielman, Mruzckowski, -Gates has a turf toe that's an on-again/off-again situation. Yah six years ago, the Bolts were a playoff team WITH AN OFFENSE INSTALLED BY NORV TURNER! Still, they couldn't win in in the playoffs under Schottenheimer. They went 14-2, only to get embarassed by the Patriots at home. Then there was the constant tension between Schott and A.J. Smith. That's REALLY why Smith fired him. That, and the fact that all his coordinators from the previous winning season got better jobs. Wade Phillips, Cam Cameron, Greg Manusky (Linebackers coach) all LEFT. Despite those coaching losses, in '07 Norv took the Bolts to their first playoff win since '94! Then backed it up with another playoff win the following season! This simply isn't the same team Norv inherited four years ago. -There's no Tomlinson, No Sproles, and Gates is always hurt. Then Norv had to deal with the lockout and getting guys ready after that. Last season, the Bolts had the #1 offense with a corp of recievers that NOBODY EVER HEARD OF. Is it now Norvs Fault That Phil Rivers has thrown 17 interceptions? Is it also Norv's fault that Ryan Matthews is a Fumbling MACHINE. -Nonsense! Of course they'll scapegoat Norv, and get rid of the main reason that the Bolts have had ANY success in the last ten years. WHATEVER. I'm no Charger fan, but GET A LIFE, Norv Haters. I'd be ecstatic if he took a job in B-lo.
-
That would be AWESOME! Execept in my scenario NORV TURNER would be HC, DEL RIO would be DC, and Wanny would remain LB's coach. Chan, unfortunately, would be out of a job.
-
Shahid Kahn? -Didn't we hit him with a drone missile last week?
-
I agree with the OP. In the first game they were more than ready for freddy. I think though, that Fitz realized that his throws are so bad, Revis had just as much chance at dropping them as Stevie did.
-
This may be exactly what Stevie wants. A parachute out of a struggling, small-market team. I wouldn't be surprised if he acted up again, in order to force Buddy's hand. Be careful though of who you make fun of, Stevie. You never know who you might end up working for.

Norv Turner & The San Diego Chargers
#34fan replied to BuffaloWest's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Norv Turner is a failure? Wow. What does that make Chan Gailey? The Bolt's problem is their locker-room. Specifically, the lack of leadership on the part of Phillip (head-case) Rivers. A patchwork defense, made up of some of the NFL's most unwanted castoffs (Tommie Harris, Takeo Spikes) doesn't help much either. I'd take Norv Turner in two f*#$ing seconds over Chan Gailey. Norv is an excellent HC and OC. In that scenario Edwards would be toast as well. The Stache would take over full time as DC. People who think offense isn't a problem for us are DELUSIONAL. Norv Turner knows how to get the best out of his players. It's unfortunate that San Diego's rabid fan base have sided with an undeserving QB in Phil Rivers. -
Yes, I may be clinically insane.

Hate to say it, but I REALLY like this post. -
Careful buddy, there may be a chick or two out there that thinks Rob Ryan is playgirl material
-
Oh yeah, let's give this awful play-caller another year to demoralize our faithful fan base. A healthy Fred Jackson is what made Chan and Fitz look like superheroes. They are not. If it were up to me, him, his DC, and his franchise QB would be GONE at seasons end. Regardless of the outcome.

I'm glad we sort-of agree on the coaching staff under-achieving, but Moats is only 23! -That's a bit young to be writing someone off. Especially on a team like ours. I think helping put Favre out to pasture put Moats on a lot of people's radar. Coleman, Easley, and Batten, are just more exmples of what I'm saying. Kelsay hasn't exactly been up to whole lot lately either. There's no leaership in place. In my experience, problems like that usually start at the top. All I'm saying is that when I look at his athleticism, I see promise. It's up to a coach to make the most of that. I don't care what round he was taken in. Mike Vrabel was a third rounder, and he turned out o.k.

How many defensive busts can you people take before you admit that SOMETHING exists in the process here that arrests the development of young players? Whitner, McCargo, Maybin, Poz, and now Torrell Troup. Come on. What are the odds that all this talent busts out? I'm calling out the coaching staff, because the burden of transitioning these kids from college studs to prfessionals falls on them. Regardless of who's been in there, it's been nearly a decade since our defensive coaching staffs have turned out anything decent. Pick a scheme. Draft accordingly. How hard is that?

I find it hard to believe that a kid who BRUTALLY ended Favre's streak of consecutive starts, doesn't have a bigger role in our pass rush. After being flip-flopped from OLB to ILB and then back again, it's up to Edwards and Wanny to coach this Arthur Moats kid up. 1/2 a sack all year? -Dismal. I don't care if Merriman did leave a vaccum. If memory serves me right, "Lights out" wasn't exactly "lights out", even when he was (sort of) healthy. I'm woried that Moats will become yet another squandered talent on a Bills roster. I hope CJ has a good day Sunday, and I hope Fitz doesn't screw up too bad. What I'm really looking for though, is a big day for Moats. He did well vs. the Eago's, and helped out against the 'Skins. Let's go coaching staff. Arthur Moats is a bona-fide bone-crusher. Don't let another natural talent die on the vine.

Fitz is the only qb I want in Buffalo-lamp
#34fan replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know if Fitz is hurt or what, but he can't throw like that anymore. Those days are gone. Admit it people, we franchised a "dud" in Fitzpatrick. We might as well have Jamarcus Russell out there breaking huddles. Same effect. No accuracy. Perpetual three-and-outs with no points on the board. We need a way out of this Fitz situation real bad. -
If we're down three touchdowns on Sunday, and Fitz has thrown more than two INT's, -yank him. If he goes out there, and starts over/underthrowing guys right away? -I bench him at the start of the second quarter.

Fitz is the only qb I want in Buffalo-lamp

1) He has a Brain (Correct. For everything except being a quarterback.) 2) He can scramble and has good pocket presence (20 step drops leading to under/over throws. resulting in 3rd & 19's) 3) He knows to come back in a game (Nonsense. Not long ago, our defense created turnovers. Fitz benefited BIG TIME.) 4) He has been hit lately pretty hard but hasn't opted for the check down blah... blah.... blah... It's nonsense! He throws a wounded duck too high, and gets good recievers killed. OR, he throws an end-over-end ball in double coverage resulting in a deflected interception. This has become personal. Ryan Fitzpatrick has hoodwinked, and defrauded my beloved team for millions and millions of dollars. As far as I'm concerned, he's a living, breathing, walking, SCAM that desperately needs to be shut down. IMO Both Edwards and Fitzpatrick should be ran out of town on the same rail. 5) We should be ACTIVELY seeking a replacement for Chan Gailey as well. He has no control over these players, and they don't seem to be responding to him at all. -
DROP THIGPEN TO THIRD STRING NOW. Make Brad Smith the backup, and then START HIM OVER FITZ! Yah I said it. There's your spark. There's what's been missing. What exactly is the holdup? To all you delusional people out there, who think Smith plays like he doesn't want to be here, I give you Ryan Fitzpatrick as the quintessential example of a disinterested player. This team has ZERO leadership. Locker-room, or otherwise. We can't get in the end zone, and our head coach/O.C. can't see a way forward. It's time for a change in our fundamental approach to offense. A good place to start is with an actual football player as our signal caller.
-
What's done, is done. We can't go back. it's time to blaze a new path offensively. -Brad Smith for starting QB! I said it in the beginnig of the year because I expected Fitz would show his true colors eventually. Of course starting Smith is wishful thinking on my part. I know Chan hasn't got the guts to make moves like that. I look at it this way: Smith CANNOT be worse than Fitz as a passer. He hasn't done much for us because Chan has no clue how to use him. The reality is, Fitz will probably lose the rest of his starts. He's demoralized, and simply doesn't care about football anymore. This Bills team is in desperate need of a departure. -A break from the negativity of the last three games. Naming Brad Smith as backup QB, would indicate that Chan is serious about saving the season.
-
Yup. -We're boned!

Stevie Johnson Stock Dropping.....
#34fan replied to BuffaloWest's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can clone Jerry Rice if you want to. As long a s Fitztragic is our signal caller, our receivers will continue to underachieve. BTW, Many of you on this board led the charge to franchise this fraud. This outcome is exactly what you deserve. -
I'm thinking this kid might just be the next Merriman. Hopefully that won't the include perpetual injury part. A Dick Butkus award finalist, he's 6'3" 241 lbs, and leads the SEC in sacks with 12.5, 4 of which he racked up in the Florida game alone. This kid is a LOAD. -And he's fast. If Edwards keeps his job, (which he probably won't)he'll need someone like this for his changing defensive schemes.
-
A finesse runner when he needs to be, a power runner when he HAS to be. 1158 yards this year. Eight touchdowns. -4.4 speed, with a VERY nasty burst. Could be a late first, or Early second rounder if he goes in.

Not as good as Robert Griffin III

Great Post. Of course, the brain-dead posse comprised mostly of die-hard Chan-atics, and Fitzophiles will show up to say things like "focus on our team & not players cosmetic issues" OR "I blame his wedding ring. It's obvious." Denial, after all, can be a powerful sedative when used in high doses. I was unaware, however, that it also has hallucinogenic properties as well. For example: Some of us may have witnessed the ill-fated attempts of several loogeys to clear Fitz's facemask. A sight which is sickening enough without having to watch them get stuck in, and dangle from, that full-on festering face-fro he calls a "beard". -Fortunately, others witnessing the same scene, saw the collected, and focused FACE OF OUR FRANCHISE. That's what I call true devotion. I commend them for being able look past the thick trails of mucous to see the wise, grizzled, leader HIDING WITHIN. ALL HAIL FITZ! Slob Field General of the Buffalo Bills!
