I think this team can afford to use the red helmets at least twice in a season. They may not be the original colors, but they were part ofthe Bills tradition for over 25 years. While we're on the subject, I wouldn't mind re-designing the charging buffalo logo as well. Maybe it could be modernized, and rounded out a bit. -Perhaps occupy more space on the helmet, sort of like Denver did with their Bronco. It'd be a new-look uni, to go with our new-look defense.

What happened to the Jets last season was simple -Rex Ryan. He's a decent enough coach, but as a person, he's a complete a**hole. His obnoxious, in-your-face style puts alot of unecessary pressure on his players. -The NYC media circus doesn't do much for a young man's confidence either. Sanchez may not be the next Montana, but he's still young, and IMO far from being washed-up just yet. IMO a guy who goes to back to back title games is entitiled to having an off year. Until Sancho has a losing season, he is easily the second best QB in our division behind Brady. Next season, I invite Ryan Fitzpatrick and all his loyal followers to prove me wrong.

The Offensive Line Doesn't Matter
#34fan replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So when my wife says that size doesn't matter, she...... Aww man! -
Huh? What exactly is there to see? The guy took his team to back to back AFC title game appearances. One of those was as a rookie. Please. -The homerism on this board is getting out of hand.

Can't draft all those kids, Barbie. I'll take Ronnell Lewis or this kid: Miles Burris San Diego State 6'2" 246lbs The school is a bum factory for the most part. This kid, however, can play. Excellent football skills. Johnny on the spot on most defensive plays.

I think there's something fundamentally wrong with having a QB you're just "OK" with. I'm sure after last season, the Niners were ok with Alex Smith. He performed more than adequately in most areas. Yet, Lo and behold, they're working out Peyton Manning! Why? because they know what everyone else who isn't blinded by fanhood knows. "OK" will not get you to the next level. And if by some miracle, it does, it will not keep you there. NFL Franchises serious about winning championships should always be looking to upgrade "OK" players. Still, I'm curious, -what makes people "OK" with Fitz? Is it the fact that he threw more INT's than anyone else in the league last season? OR is it because he CHOSE to play hurt half the season for fear of losing his lucrative job? Whatever the reasoning is, It is INSANE to build a dominating defense, just so some "OK" QB can keep them on the field ALL DAY. Sooner, or later, that will make them look bad. -No offense to the OP, but something else needs to be worked out. F@#k a backup. We need a guy that's looking to take Fitzpatrick's job. If for no other reason than to assure some type of quality control, and consistency when it comes to his performance. That's my solution. Keep Fitz looking over his shoulder, and I guarantee you the beard (and the afternoons) won't be that long.

Buffalo has talked to Mario Manningham- Per shefter

Holding his chick, and a gameball from a blowout. -
IF this was exactly how he said it, it was stupid. You can't criticize a QB who swept you last season. AND you'd better hope like heck that the fishies don't get Matt Flynn, because they swept us last year too. Buddy, buddy, buddy, this is a dumb thing to say when you've got the 4th best QB in the division, and the most prolific interception-thrower in the NFL. (this season)

It's a tremendous, positive, step. Still it remains to be seen how these guys actually play together. We have a new DC, and a guy coming off a season-long injury. (11 games) IMO, We shouldn't be counting chickens this early. I'd like to see how training camp goes, and see what adjustments the division makes to offset this signing. And far as taking us seriously, we're still the Bills. We got swept by Miami and NYJ last season, and in our last game against the Pats, we got smashed despite jumping out to a 3 touchdown lead. There's much reason for hope in WNY, but there's still alot of work ahead.

Who's next??? Capitalize on this momentum!!!
#34fan replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Teach 'em what? The art of NOT being there when your team needs you? Sorry but I'm heaping Lee Evans in with the Matt Leinarts of the world. -
Love the signing. I posted a while back that this was the ONLY way to instantly upgrade the D-line. At the time though, I didn't think we'd actually part with the cash. -Glad I was wrong about that part. Anyway, I've taken the OP's opinion to heart, and agree to the extent that this signing is by no means a cure-all. It is, however, a Giant step in the right direction. We need to fill just a few more key positions to be division title contenders, IMO. -Not the least of which is STARTING QUARTERBACK. I'm hoping that Fitz will learn from last year's experience, but if he doesn't, we'll need to have a viable alternative waiting in the wings. On the subject of offense, FIRE MODKINS! Chan needs to bring in a legitimate OC, and LET HIM CALL THE PLAYS! I wouldn't be against taking a young reciever (Michael Floyd WR ND) at #10 And a few others in later rounds. (Rishard Matthews WR Nevada) (Nick Provo TE Syracuse) Our secondary needs a shake-up too. McGee and Drayton just aren't gettin it done. I'd prefer to address this need through free agency, but if the right prospect was available in later rounds (Buddy Jackson CB Pitt) We should take them. We got a ways to go here, but it's starting to look much better.

Look again. Several of those turnovers early last season originated with batted balls courtesy of Alex Carrington. Kelsay is serviceable. I'm not against keeping him around for depth, but clearly Carrington is the talent with the biggest upside. Gimme those long, strong, arms any day over Kelsay.

With a pass rush how will or DB's look?
#34fan replied to HerdMenatlity1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hopefully they won't LOOK like anything beccause they'll be GONE. Specifically Dray, and McGee. Maybe that might light a fire under Leodis, and Byrd. I was VERY disappointed when our secondary collapsed last season. -
Brock Osweiler - QB - Arizona State 6'7 242 4.70 Big Arm
#34fan replied to SWVABillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This kid is not even close to becoming an NFL calibre BACKUP, never mind a starter. Osweiler is a very long-term project. I'd much rather give Russell Wilson the benefit of the doubt despite his size. Russell has good mechanics, accuracy, etc. -A much Better body of work. Wilson is a MUCH more cerebral player. And he's also a Better Athlete. I also wouldn't mind giving David Garrard another shot. That is going to be VERY unpopular on this board, but I think it's important that Fitz win the job outright, instead of simply inheriting it. At the very worst, it will make him a more compettitive QB. -Of course, Considering the kind of Money they're paying him, that probably won't happen. The one kid I REALLY don't want under any circumstances is San Diego State's Ryan Lindley. I keep having nightmares that he's invited, and actually makes it through training camp. That Kid would be worse than Fitz. -
yah, I've given up all hope of landing Flynn.

I'm pretty sure this is a John Cougar Mellecamp song, but whatever. Defending one's hometown is a birthright. Listening to people s--t all over a lifetime of good memories, and familiarity can be very hurtful. At the same time, you can't expect people who aren't from there to feel the same way. Especially a guy in his twenties, who's looking for a fun place to spend his millions. Yah, Brady dissed b-lo too. It was an off-handed statement, but people could tell that it came from the heart. Maybe an out-of-towner's impression, can be a good thing if it helps a place to improve. -Which is really what this is about. -Albany's fiscal neglect of WNY as a whole. You can almost bet that if some politician doesn't have a summer home in your town, it won't see any money for improvement. You have a right to take offense, but simply being offended does no good. Why don't you and others take your beef to the state legislators? Wear your Bills jerseys to identify yourselves as Erie county's finest. Btw, have you ever been to Modesto? Good heavens, what a frickin' DUMP. IMO Brady has little room to talk, but talk he did. -But hey, when you're not a member, that's all you CAN do. I'd wear it as a badge of pride. There's lots of things to love about Western New York. The people, the Sports, the wings. Nevertheless, there is much room for improvement. As a native son, you should be willing to embrace that aspect too.

Judging by your grammar, your head has already exploded, and/or you've had too many beers. Under the circumstances, however. both are justified.

I wouldn't let Leinart scrub toilets at the Ralph. College football needs a new commentator Mattie-boy! -Have at it!

TE Keviin Boss to be cut by the Raiders
#34fan replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NYG is the logical landing spot. I wouldn't be surprised though to see him on Miami's roster come September. -
Noooooooo way! Leinart is so bad it's frightening.

Whatup Barbie, Glad you could apreciate the "fantasy" aspect of this thread. This particular scenario sounds pretty out-there, but I think free agency could get pretty wild. If the Colts actions and the Redskins deal is any indication, sentimentality will be an afterthought in the next couple of weeks. Part of me also wondered what that ten pick could be worth to a team that's just a piece or two away. Picking at 10 can be a good thing, but perhaps adding a couple veteran starters at key positions could be better. Who knows, maybe a three-way could end up happening after all.
-
The way this team looks now, I'd say another six-win season. -Maybe. Our passrush, secondary, and quarterback issues make us a pretty bad team compared to most of the competition. As of right now, we'd be lucky not to start the season 0-5
-
D_mmit people, work with me here! I give you three teams that can help each other out, and this is what I get? I'm trying to get a hypothetical deal done, and all I hear is nyeah this, and nyeah that! Let me break it down: I've got one team that's DESPERATE for a pass rush, a 13-3 team that could use the help of a veteran receiver, another team that needs nothing, EXCEPT maybe a reciever that can stay healthy for an entire season. If you're not into my fantasy three-way trade, then come up with a better one. -If you dare.
-
It is, without question, crazy talk. Still, I'm not so sure Johnson is still their best player. Like I said, since the Peyton thing, I don't see that many sacred cows left.
-
Even in a pipe dream, I'd like to see everyone get something they could use. I think the Niners could use another stud reciever, and I wouln't mind Aldon Smith or Kaepernick. If the Texans proved anything last season, it's that they have depth. They could add to that this season with a high pick.
