Could be part of some disinformation strategy. Still, I'm gonna go on record as saying that this is NOT what I like to hear.
-
Absolutely. I think the fear factor associated with drafting a short QB will be too much for GM's to overcome. Honestly, I'd hate to put myself in their shoes. A lot of teams may also feel like they have higher priorities than taking a 5'10" 5/8 QB with an early pick. -Which they might. Either way, third round is about right for Wilson. I don't expect the business of the NFL to change because I'm high on a certain player.
-
I think he'll be there. Too many frady-cat GM's spooked by the height issue. The question is, will Buddy pull the trigger on him, or not. Trey Wingo did another ESPN special on Wilson today. They showed footage of some of the sickest throws I have ever seen at the college level. In the interview he was chomping at the bit. All this kid wants is a shot. He doesn't want any special treatment, and he doesn't want to be given anything. Qb's on shaky ground may mind his presence in training camp. They'd be right to worry. I don't care if you sell vacuums for a living, -you don't want to compete against this kid. He's not just a gifted athlete. -He's gifted, period. He leads men. Not just with pep talks, but by example. He walks the walk, and feeds of the pressure that comes with it. It's hard to predict what Wilson will do with this opportunity. I, for one, won't be betting against him if he makes somebody's final roster.

Jets Antonio Cromartie doesn't want to be on TV
#34fan replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yah, he should definitely re-think this TV show thing. -If he plays it right, it could even help out his child support situation. -
I get that, but this is a completely different situation. Any guy backing up Manning from his mid-20's on, HAD to embrace the reality that they may never see the field. If Manning got his bell rung, maybe you were in for a down, or two. Other than that, you were trade-bait, and/or a living clipboard stand. That was your future. I think backing up Manning at this particular point in his career has totally different implications. Especially, if your'e a kid with as much potential as Osweiller. It seems to me like the right peices are in place for Brock to someday be the face of the Bronco franchise.

Clearly you haven't logged in for about a month. There's an eight page thread with all you ever wanted to know about wilson on page 3

Wtf is with the butterfly-collar design on the away blue? -What an eyesore.
-
I don't see how this is 100% enforceable.

Lee Evans lost me as a fan years ago. Still, IF you're right about his motivation, I say GOOD for him. I love a good redemption story. -I don't actually think it'll happen, but deep down inside, I'll be hoping Lee can set the record straight.
-
Big difference between hiring a backup, and grooming a young QB to someday take over the reigns. I dunno about you, but I wouldn't waste a second rounder on a backup. A kid like Osweiller, for example, is a project, but his size, and athleticism give him a tremendous upside. In Denver's situation, you take a kid like that with the understanding that Manning's days are numbered, and someday soon Osweiller will be THE GUY. Otherwise, what's the justification for taking a project in the second? If we took Osweiller in the 2nd, believe me, it'd be with that same understanding. You'd basically be drafting Fitzpatrick's replacement. My contention is that given the scale of the Osweiller project, combined with the Bill's QB, coaching, and management situation, -Big Brock would be MUCH better off in Denver, getting feedback, and gleaning whatever he can from two of the best to ever do it. Big Brock is a big project. Our recent history with young quarterbacks leaves much to be desired.

I learn things from people I don't even know ALL THE TIME. I also learn alot from people I don't like. Let's not limit learning to the strict confines of a teacher-student relationship. Learning can be as simple as paying attention, and taking note of significant things. complete strangers, and competing personalities share info on TBD constantly. As I said before..... I don't think it's beneficial to read too much into the Manning/Painter situation. On the one hand, you have a first round draft pick, and twelve-year starter, running an offense tailor-made to his specifications. On the other, you have a sixth round, clipboard-stand who in two years almost never saw the field. I disagree with the notion that Curtis Painter "learned nothing" from "all those" (2) years of watching the master. To the contrary, I think he learned something monumental. Curtis Painter learned that there was no way, in, or outside of Hades, that he was EVER going to be that good. He learned his limitations as a passer. And Hopefully, he learned to keep his mouth shut while Peyton was talking.

I have to believe that Steve Young took something away from his experience with Joe Montana. Aaron Rodgers, I believe benefitted from his exposure to Favre. -And Yah, Frank Reich got a little bit of oomph from Jim Kelly. We all learn differently. Some faster, and better than others. I think Personality, and circumstance can be the difference. So, for example, if Peyton KNOWS in advance that part of his job description is mentoring, and grooming a young Osweiller, then why wouldn't he do it? I could understand if he was some 28 year-old stud in his prime, looking at domination for years down the road. That, however, isn't the case this time. This isn't just an opportunity for the Broncos to jump light years ahead as an organization. -This is an opportunity for perhaps the brightest of torches to be passed to the next generation. I seriously doubt that a guy like Elway would have signed the deal if that weren't somewhere in the cards.

That's exactly what happened with Colin Kaepernick last draft. Guess we'll see how far he's come along in pre-season this year.

AND to top it all off your'e a TOTAL HYPOCRITE. Here's a QUOTE of you sucking off Romo on another TSW thread, while simultaneously throwing Fitz under a bus: "I like the comparison because it let me know immediately that you are out of your mind. Romo is a true franchise QB, and likely a top ten QB, who is constantly undervalued by arm chair GMs, spoiled Cowboy fans, and lazy reporters just looking for something to write about. I would be making my playoff plans now if Romo was the Bills QB and if Fitz can even comes close to playing as well as Romo for the entirety of this season then the Bills playoff drought ends this year. Unfortunately, Fitz isn't Buffalo's Romo...he's Buffalo's Fitz which is much, much worse. That said I still hold out hope that he can be the Bills Rypen or Hostetler or Sims, and be just good enough to finally get the Bills back into the playoffs" -DC Grid What a total JOKE you are. -In the future, Please try to keep up with your trolling.
-
What state are you from? -It's not New York, since you clearly couldn't pass the reading comprehension part of the English regents. Let me break it down for you pal. -Osweiller needs more help than we can give him, and we need more from a QB than Osweiller can give us right now. Fitzpatrick is nobody for a young QB to learn from. As for my fanhood, I've been a billiever longer than many of the posters on this board have been alive. I could give two S__ts what you, or anyone else thinks of my loyalty.
-
Typical Fitz-apologist drivel. Still, I'm gonna give you credit, hopeful. Despite the fact that you've overlooked the myriad of players the Bills have drafted, and WERE'NT able to develop, you stumbled on the fact that we struggle retaining the players who actually DO flourish under our system. (Bell, Peters) As for the Peyton Manning thing, Let's just say that all "students" aren't created equal. Perhaps Curtis would have made a better painter. And call me nuts, but I believe that the support of great like Elway, coupled with the opportunity to observe a pro like Manning, would be better for Brock than riding pine behind a 7th rounder, while learning a 25 year old playbook from a coach on his last legs. Btw, the "clue bird" called. Apparrently he's referring your account to the "denial fairy".
-
Oh, HAIL no! Wtf is he going to learn from Fitz? -How to make excuses? No thanks. Osweiller is a great kid, but he's a real project and the Bills aren't exactly known for their player development. -At any position. In short, it would be a waste of everyone's time. Denver is a much better Fit for Big Brock IMO. Manning is the best possible QB to learn from, and he probably won't be there for too long of a time. The kid could have a chance at starter in a couple of years.

You mean like this? RUSS-ELL WIL-SON!(clap,-clap,-clap,-clap)RUSS-ELL WIL-SON!(clap,-clap,-clap,-clap)RUSS-ELL WIL-SON! IF we draft this kid, you might be hearing it within the first four games. Look, no one knows where Wilson will go, or what he'll do when he gets there, but the excitement generated between him, and the fans he's played for, is nothing short of legendary. Who knows? -In the future YOU might even find yourself screaming his name.

Now THAT is a T-shirt I would buy on impulse. -With a Bills makeover, that is.

Jim Irsay loves Ryan Tannehill
#34fan replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The more I hear from Jim Irsay, the more I believe he is a complete f*@!ing a##hole. -AND a narcissist. There is something grimy and untrustworthy in all of his mannerisms. I DO NOT like the guy. That said, -He could be up to something. There's a very good chance that Tanneyhill is the fool's gold in this draft. -Why not get out there and spread more hype, and disinformation about him? Why not decieve competing franchises by dressing up a prospect who, in any other year, is MAYBE a 4th-5th rounder? I don't believe Jim Irsay loves Ryan Tanneyhill at all. -I DO believe that Jim Irsay loves himself, and apparently, the SPOTLIGHT as well. -
John Gruden on Russell Wilson: "The only issue with Russell Wilson is his height," Gruden said of the 5-foot-11 quarterback. "That might be the reason he's not picked in the first couple rounds." "He's got tremendous mobility. I've got him at 4.50 [seconds] in the 40 [yard dash]. He's mastered two different offensive systems. This is a tremendous kid. His intangibles are off the charts." Even if we don't get Wilson, I hope he gets the opportunity to prove his doubters wrong. Tanneyhill, for all his height and hype, never even won the Big 12 South. Wilson won the Big Ten title his first year in the conference. With, I might add, an offense he learned in 3 weeks. If I were at the horse track, I'd bet Luck and RG3 to win, with Russell Wilson to place and show. It may be long odds, but you have to put certain horses in the money.

Typically, I'm for anything that involves getting Decastro.
-
Hey, at least you did your homework, and formed an educated opinion. We can't know in advance if Wilson will be the new, improved, Flutie, but given his outstanding college production, to disqualify him solely on the basis of size seems completely unfair. As a side note, you could have used something besides "blasted in the face". Somehow it just doesn't sound right.
-
Don't take Wannstedt. -TAKE CHAN. Leave the 'stache, and take the TRASH! -I'm kidding. I was ready to give Chan my support for at least one more year. However.... If he wants to return to the dirty south, and coach a team that's poised to make a national title run, I won't hold it against him. I'm sure with our re-vamped D, we won't be the same turnoff to a lot of prospective candidates. Give us the sneaky, deceitful, douchebag, from Arkansas. We'll put his natural talents to use as OC.

Someone ranked Wilson behind Foles? Really? Wow, That's unbelievable. I've watched a whole bunch of Foles, and I certainly can't see it. IMO, Luck is well, -lucky that Wilson isn't 4 inches taller. No one can say what will happen at the pro level, but I can see A LOT more questionable things in Andrew Luck than I do Russell Wilson. I even have a sneaking suspicion that Luck will eventually bust out. Unfortunately there's only one way to find out. -Let the kids play. Wilson has earned his shot at the NFL every bit as much as Luck, or Griffin.
