  1. I wish things were that cut and dried... In this draft, I don't see the traditional runners, big arms, etc... Every QB prospect has serious holes in their game.... This years contingent of pocket passers (Nassib, Glennon) are some of the worst I've ever seen. It's not like these kids do some things good, and others not-so-good. For the most part, they're mediocre at everything. -Everything, except for the things they absolutely suck at. Whaley is calling the draft a mix and match, but what I'm seeing is feast or famine. Let's not waste a high pick on a another career backup QB.
  2. What exactly are the things he values over the "other things"? And why are we making a trade-off on such a critical position? All I'm saying is that if the QB lanscape is that rough, then DON'T waste a high pick on it. Clearly it's a need in '13... However, if we get it wrong, it'll be a need in '14 '15, '16, '17 etc.
  3. From BBMB: Bills Assistant GM Doug Whaley, who oversees the team’s College Scouting Department and organizes the formation of the team’s draft board, said this year’s quarterback class is going to come down to skill set preference. “In my opinion it’s basically going to come down to what you value over other things,” Whaley told Buffalobills.com. “All of these guys have a value and some things they do good and some things they don’t do as well. So it’s a matter of what value you put on the quarterback you want to lead your team.” Huh? Didn't know Whaley was in charge of this, but it sounds to me like he's ready to comprimise, which is, of course, what got us into this QB quagmire to begin with. Here's an idea... How about we NOT do that. -At least not with a high pick. I dunno about Whaley, but I value progress... Sure hope he's not willing to sacrifice the future just to fill a "need"
  4. Couldn't agree more with your notes on Buddy. The man is a locked case. Seemingly unreceptive to changes in his world. -But what OLD MAN isn't? By all rights, he shoulda been fired along with his head coach, but by the skin of his dentures, Buddy hangs on. I also think Tyler Wilson is the most complete of all the QB prospects, Geno Smith included. However, as you pointed out, he most likely cannot step in as the immediate starter. That's why I'm of the opinion that free Agency holds the best Option for us at QB. I have little concern about whether Matt Moore, Vince Young, or Drew Stanton, can put points on the board. I believe they can. Tarvaris Jackson, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and (*gulp*) Aaron Corp, by contrast, present serious questions as to the commitment of the HC/OC to winning actual games. They sound more like camp-fodder than prospective starters. -And perhaps that's the idea behind us having them. Long story short, I think you'll get your wish... It seems more, and more likely that they grab Nassib sooner rather than later in the draft. A HUGE mistake, IMO, but that's how it appears to be shaping-up. I think that there's alot a young OC, and rookie prospect can learn from a veteran signal caller. -especially one who's had some success. I have no problem with T-Jax getting his shot, I just think the time for that was towards the end of last season. -One more misstep to lay at the feet of Gailey.
  5. I look at Barkley, and I see Fitz six or seven years ago. -Minus the mobility, which Fitz no longer has. Plus he's got that shoulder thing goin on, which could, IMWO, prove to be a nagging, career long injury. I say PASS. the potential for him busting-out seems a bit high.
  6. In the past two years, Buddy has shown increasing feeble-mindedness when it comes to making personnel additions... He can't draft, and neither him, or his head coach had the capacity to assess talent. Last draft everyone who wanted their signal-caller got one. The QB talent was so abundant, it was scandalous. -one franchise even picked up TWO immediate NFL starters. For Months now, I've been sayin that this draft is the POLAR OPPOSITE. -Oh, there's some very good quarterbacks to choose from, but, they're on DEFENSE, not offense. I agree with everyone who has posted that 'we need a QB' Because it's the absolute, undeniable, truth. However, there's MAYBE two kids that can trade blows with anyone in last year's class. As desperate as we are, QB is a position we simply cannot afford to miss on. Tyler Wilson, IMO, would be the guy, if you have to pull the trigger. -Small hands, included. Smaller hooks are fine if you're accurate, make good decisions, and put a death-grip on the football. It also doesn't hurt to have a bazooka-arm, which Wilson does. After him though, the dropoff is sharp. -La. Tech's Colby Cameron is a later-round prospect that I find very interesting, but he'll Take time to develop. In the meantime though, Why not weaponize our D with LB, S, and SS? This draft presents an opportunity to significantly improve a major aspect of our game. Why not Jump at it? So far, I'm really struggling to put a mock together, but this draft I'd take a minimum of 3DB's along with 2WR's, and maybe 1QB prospect. I just don't see the point in reaching for another QB let-down.
  7. Draft, baby, draft! You got solid prospects available in later rounds. Guys like Aaron Dobson, Quinton Patton, Rutgers' Tim Wright... Stevie's fine, but personally, I'm sick of D. Nelson. As for Graham, he didn't show me a DAMN THING last season! Here's a kid that can provide a spark for us on offense ...
  8. I understand that he's a kid, and I don't think this will count too much against him in the draft. However, the truth is that we're one screeching, brake-stand away from an entirely different conversation. -That's the truth about alcohol and cars. When I get soused, I either hoof-it home, or call my wife for a ride, OR (If she refuses to come .) I call a cab... It ain't that hard. Sure beats sobering-up ina 6x9 cell.
  9. I've never had a DUI, but yes, I have driven drunk, and could have killed people. Do you seriously want to be "that guy"? -The one so sure of his drunk driving skills that he believes the kid he ran over would've been hit regardless? I'll never do it again, because it's just not worth it. If that makes me irrational, then so be it.
  10. <p>Not trying to pile on you here, but I STRONGLY disagree with this thought process. I may me wrong, but I can't see a scenario where a "careful" drunk driver should be tolerated. -I just don't believe there is such a thing.
  11. Big time agree. I know a guy who killed 3 people in a DUI crash, only thing that spared him hard time, was the other driver was drunk too. -Still cost him three and a half years.
  12. Probably because they managed not KILL anyone in a fiery crash. If they had, would you feel the same? This shouldn't hurt his draft stock, but let's not portray drunk-driving as some benign offense. It can be LETHAL, and often times is.
  13. "Garbage time" for you may start with 1:10 to go in the 4th, but I don't think Fitz shares your ideals. He's only had six or seven game-winning drives his whole career, and that's not likely to improve. I applaud your "never quit" attitude, but what we're talking about is a game that's 31-10 by late 3rd/early 4th, and a QB who JUST threw a PICK-SIX the other way. The series BEFORE the Pick, that same QB went three-and-out by overthrowing a reciever inside his own 40. -It Should've been an INT, but it didn't matter because the opposing team drove down for a FG. Now, Instead of trying to work the sidelines, save clock, and move the chains, he completes a 2 yarder to a RB, inside the hash-marks and with two LB's bearing-down on him. The quarterback's play here is clearly "GARBAGE", and his use of the clock, has resulted in his team having less "TIME" to effect the game's outcome... Hence, "Garbage-Time". - A point late in the game where the only thing helped by a pitiful 2 yarder is the QB's completion percentage... By the way... The RB got NAILED, and is limping to the sideline, he may be out for WEEKS. CUT FITZ!
  14. Rome wasn't built in a day... It took HOU a while to turn into to what they are now. They focused on building their D through the draft with spectacular results.. Btw, I think you're 100% right about Shaub. However, HOU still won 11 games... Shucks, I'd love for us to reach that benchmark. Being just ONE player away from a superbowl appearance ain't a bad place to be. -I'm thinking if we take advantage of this defensive draft class, that might be us on the doorstep next year.
  15. I like Ogletree, but never liked him at #8. Don't think this hurts his draft stock much, IMO.
  16. Alec had a prior for theft in 2010, and a dirty drug test cost him four games last season... Stay outta frickin' jail, you guys... Lay low for one stinkin' off-season, then get all the things you want.
  17. Good heaven's, WE STUNK. IMWO, it was mostly Wanny. However, some of it was D playing unispired, flat-footed, hopeless, and disinterested football. Glad he's gone... Also, VERY impressed at how quickly Pettine seems to be fleeing the scene. To his credit, he's been driving the sumbitch like he STOLE IT for the past week. -Me likey... Me likey a WHOLE LOT... Heck, me wanna see alot more next week. That's enough Spanish for today, I think. I feel pretty content. -Wish our offense was moving with the same level of confidence, tho.
  18. We're also fairly proficient in Pissing, moaning, teeth-gnashing, hair-pulling, Bar-drumming, face-palming, bellowing, and double-eye-gouging. -And that, by the way, is when we're SOBER. Being a Bills fan is painful, self-defeating, and masochistic. Still, we prefer it to rooting for the Fins, Jets, or Patsies. Why? Because this team was AWESOME once. Those of us who remember will never forget. A small-market team that was the bain of all the big-market posers. Heluva road back, but I'm riding it 'until they leave b-lo, or stick me in the dirt. Not budging before.
  19. I think GM's and coaches draft certain kids expecting them to deliver the goods. They don't really start stringing the fans along until it's clear that they made a mistake... THEN, they start with the "we're developing him" B.S. -I think that's what Sherman was trying to say. Through the horrors of the past two seasons, Gailey/Nix NEVER ONCE conceeded that they made an error by "showing Fitz the money" in 2011. Even with our season, and JOBS on the line, they never tried to reverse course, or give another QB the chance to prove them both wrong. -Which, of course, they were. I found that SCARY. Still, It's evidence of the "stringing along" scenario that Sherman speaks about.
  20. To be followed by the hand-wringing, fear, and loathing of draft day! I wouldn't trade either experience for the world.
  21. OR... You set your rookie up to fall on a feather-lined bed. IMO, these moves are deliberate, and part of a thinly-veiled plan. -With Nassib training with Hackett's dad, and only wash-outs to serve as TC competition... The stage is set for a seamless transition. As I've stated before, I hope I'm wrong. -Nassib would be a TERRIBLE choice for starting QB... If things come to pass as I believe, our only hope of having a competitive season will be a phenomenal defensive draft.
  22. If Jackson plays pre-season this August, It'll be roughly a year and a half since going 7-9 with Seattle in the 2011-12. He played in just three games in 2010, (stand-in for a beat-up Favre) before going down with a turf toe injury. Everything I'm seeing says these guys are changing directions. Thanks to Chan, we have no idea what we're getting in T-Jax... He hasn't taken one snap as a Bill, If this were about Leverage, wouldn't they have signed somebody more threatening? If Marrone gets put in the doghouse early next season, I doubt it will be because of Fitz. I'd be stunned if the "bearded one" were still on our roster come March.
  23. I've been calling for competition at every position for two years... I sure hope Marrone means it... No special treatment, or immunity for any player. -EARN your roster spot. Very exciting to hear... We'll see how it applies to the QB position.
  24. T-jax bobbled the clipboard a few times last season. But seriously, you sign a Kid who's arm is deader than John Belushi, and a QB, who hasn't seen the field in over a year? Doesn't seem like they want any real competition for their guy, whichever round they take him in.. -Not that Fitz is real competition for ANY quarterback, Vet, or Rook.
