  1. You say "weak", I say "over your head". btw, it's not an argument, but a point of view. With the talent available in this draft,(LB,DE,SS) plus the experience owned by Pettine, we could concievably put together the type of passrush I described. Have you been following this thread at all?
  2. Don't mind me, I say "cut Fitz immediately" in my sleep. -Just comes out sometimes. I wake up every morning and check my phone WISHING, HOPING, he's been let go.
  3. What the heck happened to my post? Got a bunch of ampersands and crap all over it now. Anyway, the point was that I don't believe we'll need to tank our season in order to get ripe talent next year. -Just may cost us a few picks is all. At a glance, the talent coming out seems worth it. Cut Fitz immediately! -Sign Moore on the cheap, then Go D with the first three draft pix. This draft is fairly deep at wideout so there should be some good prospects available in rounds 4-7 .
  4. Agree 1,000,000,000% on the nap! ...A little warm milk... A Blankey... Set the alarm for round 6, so he can wake up and grab a cornerback.
  5. Oh, I totally, understand the thought process, I just think drafting one this year smacks of desperation. -An emotion known to cloud judgement. After paying Fitz like he did in '11, I question every move Buddy makes. Much better for his cred, IMO, to stand his ground, and say 'hey, the guy just isn't there.' Even if I set the Russell Wilson, and TJ Graham calls aside, I still don't have much faith in Buddy's judgement. Which is the same, except now he's (put himself) under pressure to deliver a franchise QB. Maybe things will work out... Still, I'd hate to miss out on a potential marquis defensive player (like Ansah) just so Buddy can say "mission accomplished"
  6. Not according to me... For the record, I never cared for Barkley, and frankly still don't. Tyler Wilson, on the other hand, is a kid who I feel got the rug snatched out from under him when Petrino crashed and burned. He may not end up being a superstar, but he looks promising to me. Nice arm strength, good accuracy (when he's on), Confident, etc. Honestly, if we end up taking a QB at #8, T. Wilson is the one I would mind THE LEAST.
  7. Yah, wow, how could I forget about that guy?! Anyway, to me, the "just keep drafting" angle seems weird, wasteful, and wishy-washy... I support a more modular approach to team-building where you draft what's readily available on one side of the ball, and supplement via FA's, and UDFA's until you can do the same on the other. I'd trust Hackett alot more after a year of seeing him work with a journeyman QB. Handing him a first rounder at this juncture is just too risky IMO... Especially given the QB talent on display. By contrast, I'm FAR more comfortable allowing Pettine to shore-up the LB and Safety corp with early picks. Seriously, what if Ansah is there at 8??? -Are we actually gonna pass on that? Sheesh, I hope not.
  8. Really?.... -Im not so sure. In 2014, you’re getting Murray AND McCarron both seasoned to PERFECTON. Then there’s guys like Tyler Russell, Connor shaw, Teddy Bridgewater, Keith price, Stephen Morris, Bo wallace, Logan Thomas and (my sleeper) Gary Nova. Even at a glance, it’s a FAR SUPERIOR crop of kids. Don’t do it, Buddy. Hand Pettine the keys to the draft and STEP AWAY.
  9. Look, the odds of us getting a QB at 8 are good. Sadly, the goods available at 8 are ODD. Why take a chance on a scrub when you can use those high picks to build a KILLER d-backfield, and secondary? One that will be in place, and ready to help out a young Mariota or Manziell... This draft presents a RARE opportunity to upgrade key defensive positions. Not the least of them being LB, and SS. Big deal, we pick at #12 in 2014... Fire sale the draft to grab that stud QB to match our brazen, punishing, passrush. After that you can buy your tix to the AFC Champioship and relax.
  10. I like Carrington a whole lot, but Ansah would be the whip that gets the whole wagon rollin' again. Stand him up in a 3-4 formation if you like... If Pettine wants scheme versatility, There's no better choice to bring pressure off the edge.
  11. Hell to the NO... IMO, Campbell played better than Palmer did, before getting hurt, and I wouldn't take him either. Garrard is the veteran I've always preferred. He's got that Crohn's disease, but his arm and accuracy are still good. -Looks like the Jets will sign him. Oh, well..
  12. Here's more footage of RPI's Hermann (#7 QB red jerseys) playing with, and against average high school talent, The commentators are pretty unprofessional, but I tried to focus on the kid's positives. -Remember, this is D3 ball. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmagIZajY-o
  13. Hermann is strictly UDFA TC fodder... Until he proves otherwise. We probably won't invite him to camp because our OC/HC is dead-set on Nassib. There's a slim chance Hermann exceeds expectations, and I don't expect Hackett or Marrone to risk it... You look at his booming throws, and high, relatively quick release, and you can't help but wonder if he might adapt... I'm rooting for the kid, but I don't think he's on our radar al all.
  14. BIG congrats on that one... As another poster touched on, the league seems to be getting good value out of numerous lower-division players. Once the big name kids, are swept up by the media, I wonder how much due-dilligence league scouts do to make sure they get out to the Misissipi Valley's, Alcorn States, RPI's, and Abilene Christian's out there? I'm guessing often it's a complete waste of time... Still, looks like you could score BIG if you know what to look for.
  15. If your'e referring to Fitz, it should be called duck-"DYNASTY" Your other info is good to know! -After being dragged through hell as a young man, at least he'll have a solid degree if the football thing doesn't happen.
  16. Elam is 100% STUD. That ain't no secret. Guy also has passion for the game. However, he's a reach for us at #8... We could go for DJ Swearinger, who's also a STUD FS, but one that should be available in later rounds.
  17. I just hope he gets the at-bat. -His arm looks alot better than Corp's. And he's definitely more mobile... Never know with these kids, but worse prospects have been drug into a Bills TC.
  18. Jadeveon Clowney, and C.J. Mosely could be #1 and #2 off the board next draft. If we're ever going to re-up, this would be the draft to do it.
  19. Here's a face to the story. (not the blonde kid) -Hermann rocks a mohawk better than I would. http://search.yahoo....&fr=yfp-t-900-1
  20. Alright, it's not pretty. He's from a D3 school in the liberty league, (RPI) Competition includes Hobart, Rochester, and the Merchant Marine Academy. Several Texas/Florida high schools could run the table in this conference. That said, this kid is interesting. Read his personal story here. http://www.state-jou...-simply-amazing I found it heartbreaking... Now, back to his measurables... 6'5" 254 lbs, 4.74 40 yd dash... There's limited film on him, but here's a game Vs. another bum school. Note time indexes .48, .59, 1.04, 2.08, 3.30, 3.50 Watch #7 closely..... I say he's worth a TC invite as a long-term QB project... The NFL may agree. FYI, RPI (Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute) is a tech school in Troy (NW burb of Albany) New York. I still consider Hermann a local prospect.
  21. Looks like these kids thought they were doing Saban a favor by being in his program. Stars from all walks of life feel like they can get away with more... from Lindsay lohan to Charlie Sheen... I think background plays a role in that these kids need more behavioral options than the ones presented them by 'lil Wayne, and Jay Z... Often, the parents are only interested in cashing-in on their kid's talents. That's why I'd like to see some earnest mentorship by these big money college programs.
  22. Thanks for the info. Scared to touch barkley on account of that shoulder, and his failure to make good on all his big talk... I don't mind the Alonso pick... Swanson kid sounds interesting.
  23. Hm. Mark Harrison ain't bad. -No love for Tim Wright? Need more D-backfield players. Say, while I have you on the phone, What do you know about Cordell Roberson?
  24. Four newly inducted career felons. Just what the state of Alabama needed.
  25. 1 month ago, you had to walk sideways to avoid all the nassiboners on TBD. Since his combine though, you can't hear a PEEP out of his supporters. Sure am glad that chit wore off. Now It's time for Marrone & co. to take that "cold shower" of truth. If Ansah is on the board @8 and we pass, I'm making a citizens arrest on Buddy. -Go defense Rds 1&2!
