Tight End Metrics for top prospects
#34fan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great post. TE is an area of our offense that could help young EJ out alot. For that reason, it's important we address it SOON. Scott Chandler is a SOLID guy, great hands, good work ethic, etc. However, IF there's a chance to upgrade a position, or double down on a peice with the hopes they can work in unison, I'd do it every time. Two tight-end sets create mismatches and leave defenses exposed in vulnerable spots (seam and flat) It also helps to neutralize certain blitz packages. One of my FAVORITE prospects coming out this year is TE Alex Bayer from Bowling Green... Man, oh man can this kid play football! He's an excellent blocker, catches everything, and at 6'4" 262lbs possesses deceptive speed and agility. As of right now, Bayer is 100% under the radar. I am truly shocked that all the draftniks have him going 6th round to UDFA. Alex Bayer is a hard-working, get-you-what-you-need type of player. He could bring a welcome layer of protection to our QB, as well as a dash of lethality on third downs, and in the red-zone. He doesn't play in a (formerly) AQ conference, and there isn't a lot of hype atached to his name, but Alex Bayer is a kid our scouts need to check out. GO BILLS. -
Sorry, but the pick at TE is Alex Bayer, out of Bowling Green... 6'4" 260lbs of pure attitude... Should be an absolute STEAL in the 6th round to UDFA. -Lotta bargains out there if your coaches and GM's know where to look.
-
I'll amend this by saying that I realize the final decision on who's taken and where may not be his. -As OC, however, his main concern should be moving the chains, and creating opportunities to score. You can't do either if you have a crappy product on the field. TJ Graham and Chris Hogan are both switchblades brought to a gunfight. Time to upgrade.
-
Nathaniel Hackett stinks. JMO. He'll need to paint some pretty broad strokes to change that opinion. i.e. Dumping dead weight like Chris Hogan and TJ Graham. If we grab Davante Adams in round 1, and take another WR, and TE prospect later on, I'll know he's serious, if not, then .

LOL, so being Gay is a mere thought with no reference to any specific acts or behaviors. And I'm a jerk for implying that those behaviors really exist, and may be repulsive to some. -You're too funny! Just shows the level of intolerance here when people try to be honest. FYI pal, this discussiion is 100% about feelings... You are incredibly naieve if you think feelings don't play into things like locker-room attitudes, and fan support... No one, so far, has advocated the removal of Gay rights.. No poster has advocated blocking Gays from polling places, or lunch-counters, or public restrooms, or anything else. I think the vaccum you currently reside in may be getting a little cramped. Time to step out for some air... I'm of the opinion that if a person is a little uncomfortable around loads of Black people, it doesn't make them a Klansman. If you support LEGAL, CONTROLLED, immigration, you're not automatically a xenophobe. We're ALL a work in progress. We ALL need to work our way through things. Unless of course, you're a righteous, perfectly well adjusted gay activist. -Please let us know when you've hunted down and dealt with all the heathen homophobes.
-
I am "coming out" to TBD as a confessed homophobe. The word "phobia" as described by Miriam Webster is: "an exaggerated usually inexplicable and illogical fear of a particular object, class of objects, or situation." -I think that's a far cry from being anti-gay. I wish Michael Sam the absolute best. Having watched him play many Saturdays, I believe he has the stuff to make an NFL team... I do not believe Sam should be judged, harassed, or villified in any way for being the way he is. That said, how about a little tolerance for us guys who can't fully get our heads around kissing a dude. If there are any gay male posters on TBD, I'd like to ask them "what in the world is so terrible about poon?" I mean seriously, What is NOT to like about it? -The stuff's AWESOME! However, getting back on topic, Just like Sam, I don't feel I should be judged for having feelings I can't help. If all phobias became crimes, people couldn't do anything with any degree of honesty. -We'd all be prisoners in our own bodies. As far as I can see, there are three levels to this whole gay thing.. The first is simple tolerance, that's the basic act of letting another human being live in peace without harrassment or intimidation. The second is acceptance, wherein a person who may have had an anti-gay stance in the past, can discard it, and see gays as people simply living out their own personal truth. The third, is Embracing. -That's when you're willing to include a certain lifestyle as part of your everyday life. Whether through freinds or family, or other social interactions. -Some of us may never get that far... Hower, in this instance, I feel two outta three really ain't bad. I remain a little grossed out by male on male action. While that may put me slightly behind the times, it hardly makes me a Westboro Baptist. -Here's hoping that Michael Sam Knocks 'em dead at the combine. GO BILLS!
-
If a guy confirms that he's 100% into dudes, there isn't a damn thing anyone can do to change it. IMO, Sam has earned a shot at the pros. He plays quick, but remains physical, powerful, and very coordinated. -Special talent without a doubt. However, for the early part of his career, that won't be the story. By coming out the way he did, Sam has all but volunteered to go under the microscope. NFL locker rooms will be tough for him, -with or without sensitivity training. I also expect the jokes to flow like the Mississipi once he's drafted... For my part, I will try to keep the ribbing to a minimum.
-
I like Moseley alot. But I wouldn't mind Shayne Skov either. Skov diagnoses, and blows up plays with shocking regularity. If they pass up Mosely, they shouldn't pass on Skov. He's smart, He's A LEADER, and will be a true difference-maker on defense.
-
it's gotta be Mosely. Any other pick @9 would be madness. Id prefer to take BGSU TE Alex Bayer anyway in rounds 5-7. Bayer is one heck of a versatile ball player.

Add a couple players and Bills=Seahawks
#34fan replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No way. Nathaniel Hackett cannot coach a pro offense. -Period. On the sideline, or up in the booth. The snot-nosed kid of former pro OC Paul Hackett attempts to impress his peers with the sheer amount of plays he can draw up, never admitting the fact that most of them don't work. FYI, He can't mold a young talent like EJ, either. I realized that when players like Chris Hogan and TJ Graham made the final roster. Guys who can't get open, can't catch, or both... Great gift for your rookie QB! Btw, I'll gladly take all that back if Hackett proves me wrong next season. However if things go as I suspect, EJ won't look better, TJ and Hogan will still be on the roster, and we won't be able to score points. I caught hell a few weeks back by suggesting we tap Frank Reich as OC.. -Choruses of "He's not an OC!" rained down from the box seats. Lo and behold the FO of the team that employed him saw fit to make that move. Hack was a bad choice... If we have a top rated offense with him at the helm next season, I'll eat all the crow tar-tar anyone can supply. -
Phillip Rivers throws like a girl
#34fan replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Phil Rivers talks WAY too much smack for a QB... More than any starting QB I've ever seen. I Wouldn't mind seeing the guy GET a smack or two this weeekend. As for him throwing like a girl, I agree. However, QB coach Frank Reich has cleaned up his accuracy issues quite a bit. -Way to go, Frank! -
dingdingding! -We have a winner! I vowed last winter that I wouldn't spend another offseason shaking my head at the state of this team. -Marrone's choices are making that very hard to pull off. I'm not calling him stupid, but Doug Marrone is not smart. I sure hope Pettine is ready to take over when the time comes.
-
LOVE the Mosely pick. i don't see how there's any other option if he's there at 9. -The rest of the Mock, I'll let you work on... I'm sure it'll be different in another month or so.
-
I've been screaming "Connor Shaw" since the '2012 season... He could be there in the fourth round waiting for a shot. -Which is all a kid like that needs. Another kid I like is Cody Green from Tulsa... At 6'3" 247 he's a big kid, but fearless, and aggressive. I also wouldn't mind San Jose State's David Fales... He's got a good Accurate arm, but may end up just being a solid backup in the NFL... Other names come to mind like ND'sTommy Rees, and U-dub's Keith Price.... I'm not sold on Blake Bortles just yet... The UCF running game is awesome, and may be making him look better than he is.

If EJ is not the answer, who should we "suck" for?
#34fan replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me, the ultimate answer is a new owner comitted to staying in B-lo. But as far as winning more games, we need to see improved coaching ASAP... That means better roster decisions, improved player development, more position discipline, and effective playcalling, I see EJ Manuel as molding clay in the hands of an accomplished scuptor's KID. Sure, Nat Hackett has watched his daddy, and picked up a few things. But can he DO THE JOB himself? -As far as I can tell, the answer is NO. Hackett should return to the college ranks, and build a winning resume there. The man is NOT a viable option at OC. -
This seems more of a likely scenario. IMO, Nat Hackett comes off as a snarky, entittled, ego-maniacal little know-it all... Why on earth we would drag in a carcass from the Jauron regime, I will never know. I tend to believe that this was Doug's call, and it's not like he had much of a choice. As much as I like Marrone's personal story, and work ethic, he's not the brightest bulb on the christmas tree... I'm not saying the guy is stupid, but I cannot, in good conscience, say he's clever, or effective. If they fired him and his OC right now, I really wouldn't care.

Who are you ready to see go?
#34fan replied to Over 29 years of fanhood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nat Hackett needs to paid, and put on the FASTEST thing out of town. Doesn't matter who we draft with a guy like that calling plays. He STINKS. -Up in the box, or on the sideline. Get that guy out of here. -
I'd get 2 big play receivers, Davante Adams, -late 1st, early second, and L'damian Wahington, 4th-5th. Then take a 6th rd RB Jeremy Smith from Okie State. A solid TE prospect like Alex Bayer of BGSU should be somewhere in the later rounds as well. The rest of the picks should address OLB, ILB, S, -That's my VERY EARLY draft wish list.

Hate to say it..... (QB situation)
#34fan replied to IslandBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In that case, can we off-load the crappy O.C.??? EJ needs a coach to teach him how to protect the ball, protect his receivers, and protect HIMSELF. Given the season's outcomes I'm not sure Hackett can do any of that. -
Hate to say it..... (QB situation)
#34fan replied to IslandBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need to FIRE NAT HACKETT! Then try to hire Frank Reich away from The Chargers. He's got DECADES of valuable experience, and has Phil Rivers playing very well this season -Then after a mostly defensive early draft, we take a talented QB prospect in later rounds. May faves are Connor Shaw, Tommy Rees, and David Fales. -
I like the sound of 7-9 much more than I do 6-10... Plus anything that puts tom Brady on the road for the post season is great in my book. Draft is a long ways away, and many things can happen. IMO, much is lacking in the coaching department... Whoever we draft will be at a disadvantage when learning the pro game. Marrone is a good guy... TERRIBLE at preparing for opponents, and making in-game adjustments. I'm willing to give him another year, but Nat Hackett's offense is completely dysfunctional... He's terrible at drawing up plays, and even worse at calling the terrible plays he draws up. -FIRE NAT HACKETT! Perhaps this guy could be his replacement? http://www.chargers.com/team/coaches/frank-reich/473a08c7-18e5-4989-8164-522b3000aaa4 Anyway, getting back on topic, A win next week would be good for the team as a whole. GO FRICKIN' BILLS!

L'Damian Washington Story per Youtube:
-
Yes, we NEED a big-play wide-out by next season. However, I'm pitching my tent in the Khalil Mack-CJ Mosely camp. I would absolutely love to shore up our LB corp, Especially at OLB. Perhaps Stanford's Shayne Skov on the inside??? -That'd be SICK. But I'd be lying if I said at least one big-play WR prospect didn't catch my eye... Nothing against Mike Evans, who has the athleticism, or K-Ben, who is an absolute beast, but L'damian Washington from Mizzou is my guy for the Job. 6' 4" 205, He's got 47 catches for 853 yards and 10 TD's on the year. I was also drawn to his personal story which I will attach to another post. i used to think he was quite an athlete, but now I just think he's quite a young man. Here's a small sample... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNyyHmsuw9QOf course he shares time with fellow Missouri stud-wideout Dorial Green-Beckham. Not sure if he declares this year, but Green-Beckham without a doubt has next-level ability. A few other big-play wideouts come to mind, like Fresno State's Davante Adams, who has 122 catches on the year for 1645 yards and 23 TD's! -Crazy numbers by any standard, but as a sophmore, I'm not sure of his draft status. I have alot of other wideouts on my radar from Oregon State speedster Brandin Cooks, to the diminutive Tim Vizzi from SDSU. If no one beats me to it, I'll post on them at some point. -Untill then, check out the Washington kid, and sound off.
