Ramses Barden was AWFUL last I checked. I doubt he even makes the team.

The Bills were only relevant for a short time in the last 20 years. During that time, the helmet and socks were RED. The last time we won more than six games the helmets were RED. The las time we made the playoffs the helmets were RED. The last AFC Chapionship we won were in RED HELMETS. -Call it arbitrary, call it superstitious, call it whatever you want... THE BILLS PLAYED BETTER FOOTBALL IN RED HELMETS.

Who Is Your Most Underrated Bill Past Or Present ?
#34fan replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We can argue about past guys all day. -Right now, the most underrated Bill on the roster is Duke Williams. IMO, he's a FAR better option at free safety than A. Williams. Duke is highly instinctive, covers ground fast, and tackles well. The kid is a star that just needs a chance to shine. I truly hope he gets that from Schwartz. -
I think back to guys like Bam Morris, and Jerome Bettis, and it seems only fair that we should have a big punishing back as a go-to in goal line situations. That sentiment is also fueled by the fact that Tyrone Wheatley is RB's coach. -The Wheat-beast was really something special at his peak.
-
It's definitely something I'd like to see. But how does it happen with the current offensive staff? Summers has definitely set himself up as a short-range weapon. -He catches pretty well too... Should this guy be featured more often? -If so, as what? Discuss.

RD1, Pick #4: WR Sammy Watkins - Clemson
#34fan replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Auburn's Sammie Coates in a Browns Jersey would be bad news for other teams in that division. Coates does'nt have Watkin's explosive speed, but he's quick off the line, catches everything, and knows how to get open. At 6'2 203 he's wiry and hella strong. Lots can happen between now and then, but I've 'penciled' Coates in as the next badass NFL wide-out. Looking forward to seeing him at Auburn this fall. -

The question isn't whether or not there are stats to support the argument either way. The question is whether or not we want Watkins to be the ONE stat everyone points to as a reason NOT to do this. To me, a kick returner is a specialist. At the very least, there should be some significant evidence a player can excel at the job. As someone who watches tons of Clemson/ACC football, I don't recall Sammy being used extensively at that position. Hester and Sproles were established, and wildly successful return men way before the NFL. Even CJ Spiller was known for his spectacular college returns. Sam Watkins has maybe two really good ones that I recall. Many years ago there was a kick returner from FSU named Tamarick Vanover. -Hands down, the BEST I EVER SAW. Kid had a knack for running through walls and simply could not be caught from behind. He was 100% Juggernaut. Vanover took those talents to the KC Chiefs where he was successful. Thing is, he couldn't do much else. I see Sammy Watkins as the same, but in reverse. -He's proven he can catch with the NCAA's best. -Watkins should be allowed to develop that talent, (unimpeded), at the pro level. -
Fitzpatrick named Texans Starting QB

If there's pressure on anyone, it's Arian Foster. Fitzpicksix will be no help if he drops back to pass. -Better learn how to hand the ball off, Fitz. OR get benched by week five. -

Once a ball snaps on a regular down, the defense already has its assignments... The linemen attempt to rush the passer or plug the gaps... Depending on the scheme, LB's can do the same OR fall back into coverage. Corners and free safeties guard receivers, Safeties on the strong side can guard the TE, help with the run, etc. -Bottom line: Crushing the wideout is not the sole focus of the D's attention. Now picture a kickoff with ten guys charging full speed toward your ball carrier. The league itself saw the danger in this, which is why they moved the kickoff up to the 35 yard line. (Goodell even explored dropping kickoffs altogether.) Lots can go wrong Is that a spot you'd want your #1 draft pick to be in? Excercising discernment is nowhere near the same as being afraid.... For now Watkins should play strictly WR. -That is, after all, why we got him. -

Eeeeeeee. Would it? I can see that bad-boy sliding right through his arms, bouncing off his stomach, and squirting out onto the turf. I can also see the opposing team's gunner doing an end-zone celebration afterward. -I used to think maybe TJ could do KR. Now I just think he's better off hurting someone else's chances of winning games. -

It's like using your brand new Cadillac to haul lumber. Can it do the job? -Probably. However, considering the value of the vehicle, it just isn't something a responsible owner would do. Caddies are plentiful, and easily replaced. Stud wide-outs, not so much. The organization mortgaged it's future to move up and grab this kid. Putting him at the mercy of some Jet/Patsy/Dolphin gunner is nothing short of moronic. I'd FIRE a guy for that. In a second, -No questions asked. -

Self-preservation if nothing else should influence Marrone to stop playing with fire... Or should I say FIRED. Which is EXACTLY what he will be if Sammy gets hurt doing something he shouldn't. -
Without a doubt, Duke Williams. -Book it.

Quoted from that WGR article: "He suffered a high ankle sprain that put a damper on a good portion of his season and just never really evolved into the running back that the Bills were touting him to be ahead of last season. However, the argument can be made that the current Bills coaching staff just didn’t understand where Spiller would be most effective for the team when the regular season games started. They set incredibly lofty expectations as a workhorse back, but that’s not the type of player that Spiller is. By the time they realized what Spiller was, they were in the throes of the season and couldn’t put him in the spots he needed to be."

Yah, I found a couple. Their analysis is good, but the conclusions seem to support both theories. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/buffalo-bills-analysis-all-22/2014/5/30/5764646/buffalo-bills-run-scheme-cj-spiller-play-calls Mods, I know SB nation isn't allowed, but I wasn't sure about rumblings.. Feel free to delete if necessary. Dude, it's just been too ugly for FAR too long. Last season CJ racked up 202 attempts for 933 yards, and a whopping 2 TD's! Jamaal Charles got 12 TD's off 259 attempts and 1287 yards. Chris Johnson had 279 attempts for 1077 yards and 6 TD's, and that's a guy who's supposedly slacking off! Last but not least, Legarette Blount in his first and only season in the Pats offense, got 7 TD's off 49 LESS carries than CJ and a 160 LESS yards... Spiller FYI, was drafted higher that ANY of these guys. Look, I know about the ankle... I understand that other players have limitations. -The question is, does Hackett realize that these aren't real excuses? -Not for someone who claims to be professional. You have a problem. Figure it out. Coming back to the title of the thread, YES, I would have to say that Nate Hackett is JV like a mofo.... If anyone would would like to start a thread about CJ Spiller's misuse, I'll be sure to jog right over to it.
-
The question in Hackett's case is WHY did the play not work? Was it truly due to player error, or was it because the coordinator lacks a fundamental understanding of who his players are, and what exactly they do well? -It's HIS JOB to know this stuff people. He needs to, in order to put guys in a position to win. So fine, -A game plan isn't working... Why keep doing it? Why keep going back to something that just ain't happening? TJ Graham is physically outmatched by most NFL corners.. If I HAD to have him on my team, he's be strictly KR... Why is he running routes he can't get separation on, and going after deep balls? That's not going to work. How in the world is CJ "up the gut" vs. a stacked box going to result in a first down? Why even call that play? Hackett did that several times last season. The bottom line is that people won't start screaming until they see Sammy being misused. I'd rather tap a talented college assistant that have to endure another season of hackett's offensive tone-deafness.

That stupid play is going to make some overrated linebacker's highlight reel. Not to mention cost us a much-needed TE... Hopefully, it's just practice, and they do something else in a real game... Also, Someone has yet to explain to me why a "flea flicker" was called in Cleveland last year. That play didn't have snowball's chance.
-
Nate Hackett is the worst. Period. He's Paul Hackett's kid, so everyone (including himself) thinks he's the S#!t... He grades his performance by how many plays he can draw up while sitting on his spoiled, entitled, duff. I have no doubt in my mind that his dry, predictable, playcalling will cost us games.

Wow...I must be such a homer...USA Projections

I have a sneaking suspicion that the offense under Hackett will be lame.... Can't drink the Kool-aid this year. Gonna lean back, and sip my 3-win Gin. -GO BILLS! -
Teee-bow! Teee-bow! Teee-bow....... -Well, somebody had to do it.
-
Reich was my choice for OC over Hackett. I thought at least he'd be a solid QB coach for EJ. Bolts pulled the trigger first, I guess.
-
More like grab Martavis Bryant before the Steelers did... and yah, a DT woulda been cool considering #95's injury history. All water under the bridge now.... I Still don't have buyer's remores for Sammy tho... Just wished we'd have been greedier. That's all.

Last time you checked what? -That steel trap mind of yours? Forgetting the obvious, which is that BOTH of these men were jailed after being victims of crimes, your BS monologue contains egregiously optimistic outlooks on felony drug charges in Alabama, as well as misdemeanor repeat-offenders in the state of Florida. Alabama felony drug laws are notoriously harsh. In some cases sentencing outweighs those of murder convictions. True, first-time offenders on felony convictions typically qualify for probation IF the Judge follows set sentencing guidelines. -Many times they don't. The state was compelled to set sentencing guidelines due to the wide variance of punishmets imposed for identical charges. Like it, or not, #99's fate depends on the judge, let's hope he's smarter than you, and a Tide alumnus, Florida is another judicial nightmare. Mike Williams was actually kicked out of a pre-trial interevention program that would have likely landed him some community service, and a fine. He's due back in court tomorrow, so we'll see what that hearing brings. Either way, given Williams troubled past, what idiot is willing to swear he'll stay on the straight and narrow in B-lo? Tampa sure didn't feel that way http://www.pewterrep...9562:&Itemid=15 Too much to laugh at here, so I'll start with the glaring things. You simply cannot argue the advantage that a 6'5" receiver has over a 5'10" corner. At 6'3' 235 Demaryius Thomas can snatch a ball thrown over a CB's head while on the run. At 6'5" 250 Julius Thomas will do the same if his QB has time to find him. As great a passer as Peyton Manning is, his team still wasn't taking any chances. Why? -Because good teams don't. They're perfectly content to overwhelm you with size, if that's what works. And clearly it does. Not nearly as old as your blind homerism. Mike Williams missed 10 games last season with a torn hammy. This, just after signing a 40 million dollar offseason contract with the Bucs. Our team lost it's starting rookie QB twice last year (once in preseason) due to knee injuries. Another rookie, Marquise Goodwin sustained hand an elbow injuries which cost him a total of four games. Gloomy as they are, those are facts. Hopefully, you looked away before fainting.
