RD 2, Pick 50: DB Ronald Darby, Florida State
#34fan replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This kid, to me, seemed very, very, raw... Late third round pick at best... Still scratching my head. -
Blake Bell QB, and Jesse James TE... ALL ELSE IS FOLLY! Bell can play TE, but throws WAY too pretty of a ball, IMO... Guy can fit it in a tight spot as well... This is a super-size QB, who isn't afraid to tuck it and SMASH across the goal line. Pretty much what we thought EJ would be... Offense-wise there's a lotta VERY good picks late in this draft... On D-line there's break-neck dropoff after Rd. 1 RB Josh Robinson in the 5th or 6th would be a very nice pickup as well...

Shane Ray has foot issue; update- cited for marijuana

No. Way. 3 stinkin' days before the draft??? -Unbelievable. This kid ordered a side of dumass with his retard sandwich... i just can't believe it. -
If Mannion sits for a few years, and pays attention, there's a chance that he MIGHT make a servicable backup one day. Other than that, fughettaboutit... He's not a serious prospect IMO.

ESPN Insider? Kiper/McShay 3rd Mock

If Jameis Winston is still there @ 50, we should take him ... I'm wary of his character, but the risk would be worth it at that point. Other than that, we should go TE@ 50.... Bryce Petty at 81... -
Ali Marpet Senior Bowl,G, Hobart College Divison III
#34fan replied to coldstorage5's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marpet is in for a rude awakening when NFL D-linemen start coming at him in earnest... We're going to find out jiffy-quick if he's for real or not. I LOVE College football, and I'm a very big fan of talented kids from obscure, tiny, schools that are invisible to most scouts. However, I just can't picture Marpet panning out at Guard.... He's got puncher's chance at C, but that's it... Seems like a nice kid, tho... -
Damn shame... I liked him alot before I found out he was certifiable... He's just a big, fat, risk all the way around... very talented though.
-
It doesn't -But I don't need it to. You sound like you're counting on Rex to put together a defense so suffocating that we don't have to worry about guys like Luck, Johnson, Fleener, T.Y. and Moncrief.... I'l believe it when i see it. The Colts D might be lacking, but they've made the payoffs every year since drafting Luck... With the weapons he's scoring isn't going to be a problem. The offense looks "mean" AKA hard to stop... That's what I was trying to say. I'd rather go to Vegas. For lots of reasons.
-
I said compulsive. I didn't say successful... Although I've had some really good seasons, it's been largely pointless for me to get up at 3am on Saturday mornings and drive five hours to the Palms Casino in Las Vegas... OR make the shorter, but riskier trip to Mexico with hundreds of dollars in my pocket.. I've tried some offshore, but had problems collecting when I won... I've slowed down quite a bit, but it's not all gone yet... Btw, That -3 is sounding REALLY good... I know it's my team, but...
-
Interesting... That's sure to bring in the rubes... Gonna wait 'til the Wynn and Rio's come out.
-
-2 is basically a pickem'... That shouldn't happen this early in the season.. It may open as low as Colts -4.5, but that'll be it. The rubes will hammer that 4.5 'til it moves. -JMO
-
My guess is that it opens at Colts -5.5 Maybe -6.5 by gametime. That's just a guess based on my compulsive gambling.
-
Actually, what I said was, -They "looked" mean.. -Hardly a label And I hope you're right about them being just "good" bcuz if you're not, they're gonna be scoring a whole bunch. Big test for a team looking for it's identity.
-
I just don't see us having much success keeping them off the scoreboard... They have a bona fide stud at QB who just keeps getting better..Reliable targets in Moncrief, Fleener, T.Y., and now Andre Johson... An HC they play their hearts out for on a weekly basis. Who's our QB?? -Does anyone even know? Our HC seems more interested in smack-talk with former players than anything else.. I can't predict the future, but it just looks like a LOOONNNGGG freekin' day... Hopefully you guys are right and I'm wrong.
-
Looks like a rough start... Colts look mean as hell, and the Patsoes have made a living beating our ass. -We REALLY need a good draft.
-
6th or 7th... depending on how good his weed is.
-
Ripkowski is definitely a creature..Both these kid bring tremendous energy and a winning attitude to the game... They should both get a serious look from somebody.
-
I've watched him have some bad drives too... Too often though Bell STILL managed to impose his will... Which is what all this is really about. I like his arm, and the energy he brings to the game...

Bills "right on the verge", rated 5th best roster in AFC
#34fan replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Grey IS very intriguing... And who's arguing whether or not Woods is talented? -He's a very nice option to have for any QB... Woods and Sammy are scalpel-like surgical weapons.. What I'm talking about John is a HAMMER... -A Gronk-type weapon to clobber defenses until they fall into submission.. I am OVER this finesse garbage... We need to make competitions LESS FAIR, and start overwhelming oponents. McCoy, Sammy, Woods, even Gray will play a role in our success. -IMO, we're just one big target away from something really impressive and scary... Gotta be able to score points, John. -

Anyone who considers Charles Clay a primary weapon simply doesn't watch games... TE must be addressed this draft... There's a very good crop this year, and there's NO EXCUSES not to get it done. WR needs attention too. Watkins may be uber-talented, but he won't always create dangerous mismatches on his own. We still need that big-threat guy to free up Sammy to make big plays... And I do mean BIG. -6'3" or better. Some people are all about filling holes. Which is fine, but it doesn't win championships. Offense is about lethality. You need that one-two punch nobody can shut down... That's what gets bubbling teams over the top. -

A playoff run will require us to address TE, QB, G, C, and yes, WR.... Address these positions and all the hype MIGHT be deserved.. Until then, the Kool-aid just isn't sweet enough to drink yet. -
I think we tried to shore-up o-line over the last couple years... Henderson..... Cyril... Cy Kwon do... The o-line coaching sucked last year. I'd really like us to get a stud C, WR and TE.. McCor will also need an explosive RB to spell him out every few plays. I nominate JOSH ROBINSON, RB - Missisipi state..

Woulda loved to have Frank Reich back...
