Wilson's detractors have cooked up horses#!@ arguments about 'projections' sprinkled with semantics about 'elitness' long before his pro career even started... It was unfair THEN, and it is even MORE effed-up, and unfair NOW considering his success. The argument back then, was that he was "no Andrew Luck" -a notion dispelled in post #22 of this thread. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/142967-for-the-russell-wilson-fans/ The argument now, is that he's no Peyton Manning, (or Rodgers) and isn't worth "elite money" - It's an argument made by those who clearly don't remember the early years of Peyton's career..... PEYTON MANNING was no Peyton Manning in the beggining... His first season the guy threw 28 picks! That's more than Wilson's thrown in 3 years of being a starter! In this same span of time, Wilson has rushed for more than DOUBLE the amount of first downs as Rodgers in his first three years as a regular starter! -45 in 2014 alone! -How does that NOT help your team win? -How do those 3rd down conversions NOT keep your defense rested and off the field?? Some believe Wilson's success is a product of a great defense... I submit that it's the other way around... Not paying Wilson because he isn't Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers is idiotic.. He's made the playoffs every year he's been a starter... Won the NFC twice, back to back.. Took this team from nothing to perennial SB contenders... No, he doesn't do it the same way we've been brain-washed to think a prototypical QB should it... -Wilson does it HIS WAY... if there wasn't something to be said for that, they wouldn't have written a song about it. You pay someone top dollar for something they've repeatedly proven they can do... Wilson has proven he can win against all odds... http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/145956-russell-wilson-already-threatening/ Pay the man, already.

Can the Bills Make the Playoffs with Their QB Situation?
#34fan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Sure-fire playoff team"??... "All that and a bag of chips"? -All your words, not mine.. Guess we'll see on the former, or the latter... I do expect a "strong push" from certain AFC teams... -Strong enough to make our playoff path complicated if we can't take care of business in our own division... There is reason for hope, however... Manuel's college chemistry with Nick O'leary was palpable. I look forwad to seeing if it carrries over to the pros.. Le Sean McCoy is a proven commodity at RB.. And Sammy Watkins is still Sammy Watkins.." Hopefully" This OC won't abandon the idea of designed runs for EJ, and offer other ways to take advantage of his mobility... -

Yes, Oakland... And while I wasn't referring to Carr as a proven commodity, he was good enough to beat our a$$ last season... Now he's got young studs like TE Clive Walford, and WR Amari Cooper backing him up.. It would take the worst coaching staff in the world NOT to improve on their last season's win total.... I don't think we beat the Colts in our season opener, but with Brady out for Massacheatsus in week 2, we should capitalize... if we should somehow manage to knock off NYG, and make it to the bye at say, 5-2, then the KEY would be to get a streak going.. Three or four games including a defeat of MIA after the bye.. -

Like another poster said, we'll have to see what that QB situation is... Seems unlikely, though... Too many AFC teams have upgraded rosters with PROVEN commodities at QB to boot... IMO the AFC will come down to IND vs PIT. With teams like OAK, BAL, and DEN making strong pushes.... High expectations abound for the D, but I won't count that chicken 'til it steps out of the shell... Players flying under thre radar are really going to have to emerge for us to take the next step. -
it was ROOKIE minicamp... I'm not sure if Nassib was even there... Plus Coughlin likes him alot. -Even insinuated that should there be a shakeup in the roster, Nova might be a good fit.. I saw Nova do alot of good things at RUT... Also alot of bad... The good was VERY good, though... Good enough to turn heads if given the chance at the pro level... Certainly good enough to push the QB's in front of him. I'd like to believe that EJ is going to be "the guy" and if not him, then TT... It's going to be hard, though... Marracket was the wrong regime to introduce EJ to the NFL...
-
Gary Nova QB, Rutgers.... Went to NYG rookieminicamp, but did not get signed... Strong arm with quick release... accurate in traffic... limited pocket presence... Played in a pro-style offense, and spent time under center.. Has a couple other issues that are correctable with coaching... Worth an invite to camp at the very least.

1 Bold Player Prediction for 2015

This just in....Chan was fired... Fitz was cut.... Graham was booted.... Marrone and Hackett benefitted from a phenomenal D, but were still run out of town because, well... They sucked. Oh yah, -And the team still hasn't made the playoffs.... You just boosted my cred with at least a few posters I was right then, and dangit I'm right now.... Still super-proud of those posts! -

And you're the guy who doesn't realize who he's locked in the room with... Continue to stalk me, and you just might find out, buddy. For a Brit, your grasp of horseracing is laughable... Yet somehow, I'm impressed with your ability to embarass yourself whilst simultaneously boring others to death... -Why not do us a favor, and take your bulbous, snooty, upturned, nose to the FIFA webpage...... Sounds like you had the wrong ball in mind when you stumbled upon this website. -

100-1? -You don't bet horses much, I can tell.... Everybody in the the track is putting at least a little something on a 50-1 shot.. No matter how terrible, or old he is... Anything can hppen on a race track... I'll put $20 on it just for prudence sake.. Win, place, show.... If you feel strongly about him being in the money, I'll box him up for the exacta and tri.... I'll take a five-buck quinella with your POS horse as well...That'll pay a frickin' fortune! -

Andre "Dre" Davis, WR, USF... Remember that name, you'll be screaming it in October. -
Bills go 11-5 at least. Disagree? Bet me.
#34fan replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
11 games would be nice... Not gonna happen though... D-line is just getting older... Plus we have a roster of QB's guaranteed to keep them on the field all day... It'd take a miracle for us to repeat last season's win total. -
If Tampa is smart, they use him as the big, reliable, target he was in NE... A couple years back I advocated us rescuing him from a slow death on Tampa's bench... Tall, and long-armed, I liked his game when he was at Rutgers...As usual everyone panned the idea because of the stats they googled... Everyone but the Patriots it seems.

Who is going to be the biggest surprise Bill this year?
#34fan replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, Marqueis is heavier... I also have him at 6'4" -per the teams official website..... Nothing that anyone has said here has sold me on Charles Clay.. Nothing... I hope he does well, but if he was "all that and a bag of chips" he would have scored more that 3 TD's last year... Tim Wright, who no one on the board was interested in scored 6! ... But let's see if the tweener plus the QB's on our roster can make aything happen... I'm on the record as doubting that outcome. -

If Charles Clay's playmaking ability helps us get to a superbowl, he can drop as many passes as he wants while there... I'll never hold it against him.. If Dez Lewis was Kelvin Benjamin, I'd agree with that last paragraph.. However, there's an absolute ocean between Dez Lewis's talent level, and Marquise Goodwin's... if Dez has anywhere near the type of talent it takes to wrest a job away from ANY of the veteran receivers on our roster (except for Caleb Holley) I certainly have not seen it. -

#34fan replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely not... it can't be applied to any other team, because we've got the longest standing playoff drought in the NFL... We're not just talking about a few "L's" chalked up to a bad FO decision... An entire generation has reached adulthood without ever seeing the Bills in the post-season... I'd like to see us hang on to players who''s skill set enables them to make big plays, and force outcomes in our favor. I'd like to be totally wrong about Charles Clay as well... I'll have no problem admitting it if I am... Also, I'm not a huge fan of his, but it's strange that I didn't see anyone make mention Stephon Gilmore -

You're telling me I should embrace a tuth that was never proved to my satisfaction. -If we had a playoff run after eliminating these players, I'd consider it. However, since we did not, -Couldn't there be the slightest chance that these choices were just the latest in a series of bad ones, all leading up to a damn-near two decades long playoff drought? Why don't you add something to the post, instead of whining about conversations you were never a part of? Why be the iminion of some smegma-eating troll who has no hope for this team, -Isn't a Bills fan.. -And probably doesn't even like football? -

OR, you may have just quoted BS from the mouth of some 40yr old waiting for his mom to yell "Dinner!" so he can get out of bed for the first time all day... -You could have just regurgitated quips from the rancid piehole of someone with NOTHING to offer this board,or this world, but his stash of sleazy half-truths, dull sarcasm, and narcissisitic rage that is common to born losers... if you want the truth, just ask me....The truth is that I really liked Brandon Kaufman, and Brad Smith... Still do...I thought they could've helped this team, and hoped for success in their careers... I believe a franchise that's missed the playoffs for sixteen consecutive seasons should take chances with personnel... -That's no secret...Seems to me like the stopwatch-holders, and front-office suits (for all their stat-hoarding, and insider knowledge) have failed us... Their way hasn't worked, and it SHOULD HAVE by now... If you look around the league, you'll see players at it's top echelon that have no business being there.. Guys who were drafted late, or not at all... Guys who were considered too short, or too slow... Guys that just don't fit the mold of what we imagine success to look like in the NFL.. I'm not saying we should recruit doubles-tennis players out of college just to see. I'm just saying that this problem, OUR problem could require a fresh approach... And for the record, I don't know a damn thing about Austin Collie... He was never on my radar as a rookie, or anything else... I don't know the guy.... I also never predicted stardom for anyone cut from this team. -I may have HOPED for it... but that's what you do with players you like... At least I have the spine to go on record about it. -
Forget the stat line. Who looked better EJ or TT?
#34fan replied to BuffaloMatt's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well.... Ej Manuel was a regular NFL starter at one point and Tyrod was not... Let's face it, -Being an understudy to Joe Flacco is a permanent gig... I've liked Tyrod Taylor as an athlete since his Vatech days... His preseason work in the pro's has impressed me as well.... He's easily the best pure athlete out of all the QB hopefuls we have... The question is, at this point, -does Tyrod really want the Job... sure, i think he can do it... But can he TAKE it? -Can he be effective enough in camp, and pre-seaze to wrest this position away from EJ and Matt... It'll be hard... But the Victor could be the best QB we've had in years... EJ and O'leary could have tremendous chemistry... they did at the collegiate level, and EJ should be ecstatic to see his old stand-by again. -That combo was lethal at FSU. I like combos... Burger and fries.... Steak and Potatoes... Biscuits and Gravy... Kelly and Reed.. Montana and Rice... Rivers and Gates... Brady and Gronk .... Correction, I like ALMOST all combos... The point is, the best combo wins.. Tyrod is going to have to make at least one freind out there (receiver) and form a bond with him... OR that Chemistry between EJ and Nick has to emerge once again... Either way, It's all about the combo... And YES.. I WOULD like to supersize it! -

Nope... Wilson had his share of tacit supporters on TBD, but relativley few of us took it over the deep end, which is where I reside when it comes to Bills football.. I can understand how you'd feel 99.9 perent sure that we wouldn't have gotten anywhere with Smith of Kaufman... However the fact is you'll never be able to say for sure... If Kurt Warner could go from being out of football, to winning a superbowl, and a 6th rounder could evolve into a superbowl-winning machine, then absolutlely anything can happen... This, more than anything, is why I watch football... for it's grand surprises, and spectacular hidden gems. Moving forward, there's a few undrafteds I think could make statements in camp... WR Andre Davis, LB AJ Tarpley, and DE Cedric Reed.. I think DE BJ Larsen may not make this team, but has the motor to be successful elsewhere. As stocked with talent as we're supposed to be, I hope this year's coaching staff has the courage to think out of the box, and see beyond the stat lines. -

For you and e-balls information, I DO pick longshots at the track... -Quite often, actually... I may drive an hour to the OTB to bet ONE stupid horse in ONE stupid race...I lose ineveitably...However, I've KILLED 'em on MANY races that left everyone scratching their heads (except me) LOTS of factors go into my bets.. Where's the horse from? Who's his Trainer, -Jockey? -Sire?.... What track are we talking? How's the turf there? How does the horse's recent workouts look? - Was he in the money in his last race? If so, running against whom? -What was the turf like that day/night? And that's just the beginning.... I've bet all kinds of horses from the trotters to quarters.... I'll take a horse to win/place with long odds because I've observed something others may have overlooked. Invariably, the people that questioned my methods in the beginning, are the SAME ones stalking me to the cage to hear my bet... -Not to ridicule it, but to COPY it... Fact is, I'd take Brad Smith TODAY over most of the QB options on our roster... I'll leave you with comment from long ago against one of my other long shots. "I don't think Fitz will win us games, but Wilson's limitations due to his height, combined with other problems in his game, mean that he will be a bottom 10 QB in the league. Is it impressive that he is starting as a rookie over a big-budget free agent signing in Flynn? Yes, but that doesn't mean that Wilson has what it takes to lead a team in a deep playoff run. I do lament the fact that we picked Dalton over Williams, though, especially given the fact that we hadn't made such a commitment to Fitzpatrick at that time". –NY33 -

I have Gray a t 6'4" 242 from a couple sources... one of those being the Official team website... I also heard unofficially that he gained like 10 pounds... I might have to call Bullsh*** on Wikipedia because I saw 6'2" there as well... I still Hope he surprises the pundits... If he gets cut, he gets cut. Would be great if he got a fair shot. -

Who said Peters didn't count??? Of course he counts... I wish he'd never left... Welker's career was outstanding for a guy who picked himself up off the cutting room floor... 3 time AFC Champ... Someone should pick him up....-Not us though. So let's recap... Clay is talented, but not my guy ... I have hight hopes for M. Gray if he isn't cut.. I believe his size and speed give us a dimension we lack.... -

He's an overpaid tweener... He had his chance... showed some talent, and now has buckets of money.. Just because he did well in Miami, doesn't mean that'll happen here... I don't hate Clay. He clearly has talent... I just think this team needs a a big red zone threat, as well as at least one true TE... Roman wouldn't be the first displaced coach to stroll in here Hawking his "system"... I'll believe in it when I see the proof. That goes for Clay, Rex, AND Greg Roman I stand by all of it... Every last word.... Maybe if we did those things we would've made the playoffs by now... You can't say for sure it wouldn't of happened... Loved Brad... Still do... Kaufmann as well.... I think Dorin would have fit in well if we had an actual Quarterback at the time... I like the Dark Horses... Always will... i feel sad for people who always require others to 'share their views'.... saddest of all for those that come unglued at the sight of a dissenting opinion.
