RD 4, Pick 139: QB Cardale Jones, Ohio State

Man, I really, REALLY, needed this today... -
What happens in '16 if Sammy Watkins goes down

6'3"+ or it didn't happen. -
CLE wants Cardale Jones.. I suspected as much... Making goo-goo eyes at Wentz and Goff was a very successful ploy... Getting Philly to give up their firstborn wasn't easy... Pep. and Hue really sold the damn thing! -Watering down those footballs was 100% pure GENIUS.

Titans Trade #1 Overall Pick to the Rams

Is it a given that CLE passes up a-gifted OL like Tunsil? It's a once in a lifetime chance to boost the strength of that unit. I dunno... An Underwhelming Pac-12 QB, (About as good as Brandon Weeden was when drafted) and a 2a talent who impressed with the help of a gifted supporting cast (Google Darius Shepherd, and fullback Andrew Bonnett.) I think Goff is the odd man out... My prediction is for him to go MUCH later than most draftniks think. -
Which QB do you want the Bills to draft?
#34fan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cardale Jones as early as round 2... I'd bet alot of GM's are keeping their feelings about this kid under wraps. If I'm CLE, I'm making eyes at Wentz for the specific purpose of throwing others off my scent. To my knowledge, Jones NEVER lost a start... A successful college coach making a personnel change during an up and down season should surprise NO ONE. -That's what college coaches get paid to do. All well and good after the kid you benched won your school the NC. -And that's another thing.... I watched Jones go up against some POWERFUL defenses in that NC run... I honestly thought that kid woud get vaporized. Arm-talent is one thing.. However, the presence of mental fortitude in the face of withering opposition adds a dimension of value ignored only by FOOLS. Wentz has displayed tremendous arm talent, physical prowess, and aptitiude for the game... Still, the cautious buyer must ask: AGAINST WHOM? Is there an FCS school out there that can trade punches with the likes of Alabama or Oregon? I don't think there is... Watching Carson Wentz run over DB's one-quarter his size, while entertaining, does NOT make me say -"Ooh! There's my Franchise guy"! Cardale all the way... Wherever this kid ends up, I hope he gets the support he needs to reach his true potential. -
Who would surprise you as the Bills 1st round pick?

Who'd surprise me?.... Pretty much anyone who isn't a cornerback... Put another way, I've started loosening up my eye-roll muscles for the 28th. -
NFL Network: Bills Will Challenge for AFC East Crown
#34fan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When Wrecks was hired I predicted five to seven wins last year... We got 8, so I was pleasantly surprised... Now with the presence of TWO Ryan Brothers, I'm calling for four to six wins... if Roman's offensive philosophy stays the same, we'll get run off the field by teams like SEA, PIT and AZ... What would it take to compete for the division? -Let's see... A bona fide NFL starting QB.... An OC that's capable of attacking in the red zone.... A HC that isn't trying to re-create the '85 Bears, and a DC that understands (and cares) what his player's do best. Anything's possible... I just don't anticipate much change beween last season and the upcoming one.. -
Lots of comments highlighting Tyrod's adequacy... Perfectly well and good, despite my doubts about him being a permanent answer....Still the fact remains that if #5 goes down we are in very big trouble... We absolutely need to draft his potential replacement this year.
-
Even better! -If you suck, you should get exposed.... If you have another gear we've not seen, you'll need to whip it out in order to fend off a talented rival.. Either way, the TEAM wins. If my mind's not made up about a QB, the LAST thing I want is for him to be comfortable in his mediocrity... I want him worried... That'll show me more of what I need to know in order to make the call.
-
SEA has zero championships an no S-bowl rings if they wait for RW to develop behind Matt Flynn... WAS doesn't make the playoffs last season if Shanny doesn't double down on QB's in '12... The lesson? -If you havent got a franchise guy, you should ALWAYs be looking for a QB... That is, if you're serious about rings... There should be absolutely no question whether of not your QB can get you to the playoffs... If there is, his potential replacement should be on your bench.
-
Hogan is probably the best fit for the type of offense Roman tried to run last year... Which isn't saying much... He lacks the physical gifts of Tyrod. Still, Hogan has the skill set to take game management to new heights... Especially if the Bills somehow find a solid TE. (or two.) Hogan's throwing motion has improved, but without stellar o-line play, and Chris McCaffrey to hand off to, he's just meat for the grinder.. I like him alot, but he's not ready to push for the start, IMO..

Devastating... RIP Garry. -
Johnny Manziel (update: waived by Browns)

I agree with you that it's a choice... Still doesn't change the fact that these owners sanction a sport PROVEN to have debilitating effects on the human body, -particularly the brain.... It's also a sport I love and continue to support... That's ME owning my share of the blame... CTE is one of many issues the league needs a clear path forward on.... Domestic violence, and substance abuse are as much a part of the game as cleats and shoulder-pads... I don't think we'll correct any of these ills by SHOOTING everyone with a dissenting view on how to approach them. -

Situations like this are sad for two reasons: One, is the obvious tragedy for the families involved. Secondly, they allow people like you to spew MILES of useless rhetoric while offering no useful solution... All I'm saying is that for all the cash it throws around, the league does little to help largely clueless young men deal with real life issues... 'Don't hit a woman', 'no excuses', blah, blah, yackitty-schmackitty... We ALL get it, and we all agree 100%... The question is whether or not there's a better way than turning our collective backs on young people when they experience these moral failures... Having never partied your @ss off, -or told a lie, -or gotten angrier than you should have at your girlfreind, you might not be the best candidate for outreach... Still the league needs to do something. -And by "something" I mean something OTHER than throwing their latest disappointment under the carriage... Rght. So now he beat the crap out of her in a drunken rage.. -The next poster will have her in a coma getting last rights... All the stories I've read describe ONE single blow... I'd like to hear definitively what the events of that night were. -

Todd, you're the absolute pope of TBD... A holier, more sanctimonious and righteous poster cannot be found anywhere on this board... Good luck finding an actual player that lives up to your preposterous standards... I don't know the full story behind the Manziel domestic violence incident..... If he did smack the girl then SHAME ON HIM.... I'ts a despicable act committed by a very young human being... I wonder how deep the Browns organization delved into his character before drafting him 22nd overal in '14.... My guess is not very deep at all... And if the organization felt the act was so heinous... Then why not part ways the instant they confirmed it happened? Manziel owns his fair share of issues... But he isn't the first girl-puncher to play in this league, and he won't be the last... Five years out of high school, most of us are FAR from finished products... I'm not dragging him out to the dumpster just yet. Got 'em in Toronto when I lived back east... SUPER WARM! and No Holes! Gotta get them outta storage.. Might just give them to my mom. Nah.. That's underwear... A fresh pair of drawers makes you feel like a new man. Yah, sacrificing himself so the multi-Billionaire owners can get even richer, and the obnoxious, mouth-breathing, fans can go Oooooooooh! If you're comparing that in any way, shape or form, to combat, and IED's, then we probably shouldn't talk. This is huge... It's been on my mind since his downward spiral started... Where the heck are mom and dad in all this chaos??? I think if he loses football things might get even worse.... Jerry Jones to the rescue? -

Sooooo the NFL is free to damage Manziel's brain with concussive, debilitating, hits, But he's forbidden to do it himself using good coke, and Chlamydia? Not fair. He's a whopping twenty frickin' two years old... I got SOCKS with more years on them. Is he a little bit of a shmuck? -Absolutely... Own worst enemy? -For sure... But let's be clear here, Manziel's biggest error was not living up to the ridiculous hopes of a team, and organization that hasn't won anything in for-fricking'-EVER! I see nothing disqualifying him from another chance, in another town, with another team... Sounds like a spoiled brat that could use a bit of an outreach, -Maybe a mature player, or coach to help straighten him out. I'm in the camp that hopes he pulls out of this downward spiral... A safe landing in a less needy, more supportive, organization would be ideal. -
Best player, biggest bust and sleeper in the draft
#34fan replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jack is the best athlete in the draft. I've said that before, and I believe it... Hard to say who the best actual player will be, tho.... I personally like Mike Goff's bust potential... Kid has a decent arm... Fairly accurate... Still, I personally DO NOT see a pro game there... Not yet, anyway... Guess we'll see. "Sleepers" in my opinion, are under-hyped rookies that unexpetedly, and inexplicably, tilt the playoff odds in their teams favor... For my money, those kids will be Cyrus Jones, and Cardale Jones. In the right situation, they are big-time difference makers... -
Impressive interview... I still think CLE has a secret plan to grab him somehow... Even if they end up taking Wentz. A kid like Jones would absolutely thrive under a coach like Hue Jackson....

Tampa...
-
Great find! -Look, if we take a QB, who else could it be?... We draft out of range for the other guys, and D has become a priority... I have just TWO concerns about Cardale.. One, is his compatabilty with Roman's offensive tendencies (although they're similar to Urban Meyer's) and two, I worry about him becoming Jamar-dale... I'm not trying to fat-shame anyone, but he's put on a few in the last year or so... I'd like jones to get, and remain a little leaner in the coming months..

Unparalleled look into the Rex Ryan Defense...
#34fan replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm leaning towad the academic all-american with the economics degree from Georgetown, over the Southwest Oklahoma state grad with the PE degree... I see Rex's defensive bloodlines as a hindrance at times... All "daddy's boy" coaches seem to suffer from the same tunnel vision... Todd Haley, Nate Hackett, etc... They sort of re-package their daddies philosophies, then force them on teams with completely different circumstances... I prefer the thinking man's approach... Start from zero, and build something truly great. -
How would you feel if Ryan Fitzpatrick won a title in 2016?
#34fan replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd feel like I was high on a powerful hallucinogen... -And I'd be right. -
One never knows.... Pointless to over-speculate on how he'll do, which is why I stopped short of it... He wasn't supposed to start a college game either, yet one National Championship later, you and I are having this discussion...For the time being I give him a fighting chance... He's earned that, at the very least.
-
Youre absolutely right... In fairness, they probabaly meant a QB coached in an Urban Meyer system.... Jim Tressell QB's translated far WORSE in the pro's than Meyer's... I see Cardale as belonging to neither group, really.

Guess we'll see.
