ESPN: Ryans planning to take control.

The more I hear about the Ryan Brothers, the less optimistic I am for the '16 season... Perhaps we should just wait to see what these two (jagoffs)- come up with?... -No point in getting bummed out before training camp even starts. -
Bills' 2016 Organized Team Activities - Week 3

Some of my musical tastes are definitely pre Madonna... Though, "like a virgin" and "true blue" MAY contain tracks worth listening to... Either way, Gilmore's physicality at the line of scrimmage falls flat against smarter receivers who expect to be jammed.. A deft inside move, followed by a swim, and they're sprung... Miles of open real estate ahead... Gilmore can be effective against hotheads like Odell Beckham, who for all his talent, can't stand to be touched... More refined, patient, wideouts, however, will simply use Gilmore's physicality against him... For a veteran corner, he often struggles to turn and play the ball after release, and when he does, he has problems tracking it in the air, Gilmore is pretty much OUT of any 'elite corner' coversations... Adequate to good (at times)... That's the best I can give him... Think I'll go listen to some vintage Blondie tracks, now. -

First, I'd like to know who described Gilmore's press coverage since being drafted as "stellar" Right after I left the recording studio with Debbie Harry and Madonna. -

Got him confused with Deborah Harry, who success did, in fact, predate Madonna's... However, unlike Gilmore, Debbie was hotter than Madonna, and had a better voice... Just my humble opinion. Stellar??? I dunno about that... He can press a little... But he gets BURNT over the top quite often... He's also not a great tackler, and I don't recall seeing him catch very many people from behind... For a guy taken 10th overall??? Don't think I'll miss him much at all. -
Who cares?.... This is a locker room grenade that rolled right past us... Dri the drip is free to continue his lackluster pro career elsewhere..

Part of the reason the kid deserves such high accolades... He just excels at this position... -
Are the Bills really in "Win Now" mode?
#34fan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh, I've been "all in" since '83 with this team... Thing is, "all in" at a poker game can hurt alot... I wish we could come up with something less risky-sounding. -

Guess I just don't consider Gilmore a "great" corner... From what I've seen, we'd almost be BETTER OFF taking one with a high pick next year... FSU seems to BREED stud DB's. -

Funny, from here it looks like you wrote "great" corner back play... Admittedly, I HATED the Darby pick... "Too high" I thought at the time.... I realize now I felt that way because of the Gilmore pick... He really wasn't worth geting where we grabbed him... By contrast, Darby has made his case for a big contract in ONE SEASON... I never thought we'd be that lucky with a corner... SO GLAD he's in our secondary. -

I like Darby too... Not as much as you do obviously, but he blows Gilmore away in my book. -
Bills related Time Travel - What would you change?

Absolutley 100% wouldv'e played Flutie. I would also go back to 2011, and SQUASH the white helmet bid... We never did a damn thing in the white hats... Six playoff appearances in 20 years between 1960 and 1981... Two AFL championships '64, '65.. Compare that to 10 playoff appearances between '86 and 2000.... 5 consecutive AFC championship game appeareances, and 4 consecutive AFC championships... Let's go Buffalo! -BRING THE RED HATS BACK, BABY! -

What's weird is that you never hear the Patsies say "We're in Win Now mode" ... They just always ARE... They use the simple, timeless, effective, mantra. "DO YOUR JOB' -That's the extent of their expectations... What's our mantra? I remember Before games Marv Levy would ask the 90's Bills "Where else would you rather be than right here, RIGHT NOW?" Not quite a "mantra", but effective enough as motivation.. We need something like that for the upcoming TC.... I came up with "Drill baby drill!", but it seems that one is taken... Any thoughts? -

Are the Bills really in "Win Now" mode?

I saw Rex in "win now" mode exactly twice. -Both games against the Jets last year... He was so intense, so focused, that the mere THOUGHT of losing was incomprehensible... He would have parted with a lung before giving up either of those games... The difference is that guys like Carroll, and Bellichick operate this way ALL THE TIME... They don't just talk about it, they COACH IT... Their rosters armed with standard bearers who are willing to enforce it.. Who are our standard-bearers? -Who's bringing the fire? I know Rex will rally the troops for at least TWO games this season... It's the other 14 I'm concerned about. -

Funny... When you look up terms like "win-now" and "crunch-time", you find they're related to terms like "last-ditch", and "hot water"... Just an observation... Oh yah, and we also hired Rob Ryan. -

They sure want everyone to think they are... But how could they be? Drafting injured players... Settling for a glorified game-manager at QB.... Refusing to acquire a big-threat @ WR.... Hiring Rob Ryan!.... These are just a few of the potential disasters waiting to undermine any chance of us winning the AFCE. -Which, by the way, is what we should be focusing on! Can you honestlly say that this team is being engineered to crush Massacheatsus? Your response may be the answer to the question posed in this thread. -
Tight End position. Should we be worried?
#34fan replied to Mark Vader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Butt ... No pun intended. Very solid, traditional, TE.. That said, he's a day 3 pickup at best... Not anywhere NEAR the weapon Howard is... OJ is at worst a third rounder if he leaves this year....Barring the unforseen, Howard should be our priority next draft. -

Alabama TE OJ Howard 6'6" 245 We really, really, REALLY, need to draft this kid in '17... Git 'R' done Kim and Terry! -
NFL Over/Under for 2016: Bills at Eight Wins
#34fan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just looking at the schedule I see five, -six wins tops... if we can acquire another weapon at TE, or somehow get a big WR involved in our offense, that could change dramatically.. Our offense, the way it is now, puts too much pressure on the running game... Guys are going to get hurt, and we're not going to be able to move the chains. -That's my very, very, preliminary overview.... Hopefully it's wrong. -
Tight End position. Should we be worried?
#34fan replied to Mark Vader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You'd think we'd learn after how many years of being CLOBBERED by the same QB-TE combo... This is a weapon we need ito develop in order to stay competitive within our division... It's not negotiable. -

The Patsies LOVE their 2 TE sets, and they've got two of the most effective in the game in Bennett, and Gronk... This could be bad... Even with Brady gone for four games... For better or worse the TE's we have on our roster just aren't that effective... Clay and all... -
quarterback coaching and Cardale Jones
#34fan replied to Commish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Therein lies the problem... Dave Lee has bounced around various organizations for forty years... Cutting him loose with such a long resume just doesn't look right. "The middle" in this discussion would be to bring in a Veteran (David Garrard) who utilized a skill set comparable to the QB's we have on our roster... Have him work directly with the QB's on the "real-time" aspect of the game.( i.e. What to do when a play breaks down, how to adjust to different blitz packages, situational awareness, -down and distance.) What good is a perfect three-step drop if you can't figure anything else out? -
quarterback coaching and Cardale Jones
#34fan replied to Commish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry. Just seems nutty to equate being benched as a collegiate athlete, to lacking the drive to win... Especially if the guy in question never loses a start, and won a championship the year before as a third stringer. -Explain your conclusion. -
quarterback coaching and Cardale Jones
#34fan replied to Commish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In a perfect world, it wouldn't be about what anyone wants, but rather what's best for the young QB's on our roster... And "horrible" is a relative term that doesn't have to imply the "fear" associated with the word "horror" as much as it would refer to something undesirable, detrimental, or very poor in quality. The fact is, Rex and Co. saw fit to call on Garrard's expertise once before... I don't know why Garrard passed on the chance... However, with all his health issues, it may be more complicated that him simply not 'wanting to'... Which could be the case as well. Still, It Couldn't hurt to ask... I want to be clear when I say that I believe Jones to be the best starting prospect we've had here in at least 15 years... He has the potential to better than anyone we've had here since the awful Brady era began. I hear this stuff about him being "Raw" and "Not ready" and I can't disagree totally... What I can say with great certainty is that IF we can find the staff to help this kid out, he could be a phenomenon in how quickly he translates the game... Cardale Jones is something different... A unque talent that I'd rather not see squandered by poor coaching.
