Bills Current Cap Situation updated
DefenseWins replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cap space should not be a problem... By doing long term deals with Byrd, Wood and Spiller they can structure those deals to give them more cap space flexibility... Hopefully, Wood can stay healthy all season... They really need to hit on their top 3 picks in the draft... They haven't been doing that in Buddy's 1st 3 drafts... -
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/27/colt-mccoy-wont-be-with-the-browns-much-longer/ Perhaps McCoy will end up being a Bill yet...
-
Where is that OLine today? And remember that Wood, Byrd and Levitre were 2009 draftees - Buddy's 1st draft was 2010... Levitre is gone... Rhinehart is gone.... Wood seems to get injured much of the time...
-
Alot of Lies are gonna be told between now and the draft... Get the best QB you can at #8... Get the best WR you can at #41.... Start both on opening day... Palmer is a waste of time and money...
-
How about Buddy's OTHER PICKS??? You know, the ones he actually drafted??? Like Troup, and the aforementioned Aaron Williams... in fact only Spiller has had any great success from that first draft.... And Dareus hasn't exactly lived up to his billing either although most of us still have high hopes for him... But wouldn't A J Green or Julio Jones have been better picks based on their track record so far??? And I can remember one or two guys I'd rather have than Troup too...

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/25/report-highly-unlikely-carson-palmer-restructures-deal-with-raiders/ Sounds more like Palmer ends up in Arizona leaving Barkley for the Bills if they want him....

Infallible organizations don't exist

Maybe if we had a Super Bowl contending team like the Packers, I could see shelling out 8.25 Million for Finley... -
Waiting for Round 2 worth the risk?
DefenseWins replied to 4merper4mer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Simple - you draft a WR at #41... There will plenty of WRs there for the picking.... -

You can't say that Patterson is gonna be an impact player or not... He can bust just as easily as any other player (QB or not)... And forgive me for not trusting your evaluations of these players (QBs or other) None of us has the necessary knowledge to judge these players talents... Of course it is also debatable whether anyone in the Bills FO has that knowledge or skill either but we are stuck with the FO that we have.... -

It's amazing how some fans just assume that if we take a non QB at #8 that the player we would take will automatically become a "Blue Chip Player" whereas if we take a QB somehow that player is almost certainly doomed to fail... We took Dareus at #3 - Has he become a "Blue Chip Player"???? NO -
If the Bills acquire 2 QB's......
DefenseWins replied to jaybee's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
http://profootballta...isit-the-bills/ http://profootballta...-are-a-concern/ if the Bills intend on running the so called "read option" a second QB of that type would be a big plus in case of injury to your starter... -
I don't think that many of us would object to the Bills trading down abit, if they could still get "their guy" QB... But since that is not easy to do, and since this FO has not done this in the past I would not get my hopes up that they will all of a sudden change their MO... So if they take "their guy" QB at #8 fine... and get a top WR at #41... Happyness should follow... If they are able to trade down abit though, they might be able to add a quality young TE with an extra 2nd rd pick they might get... either of these outcomes would constitute a successful draft...

Landry Jones - QB - Oklahoma

Leave no stone unturned... -
Stevie wants DHB (Update - goes to Colts)
DefenseWins replied to NoSaint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They would make an interesting tandem, if it actually were to happen... Add in a WR at #41... who knows... I'm stiill surprised abit about releasing both Jones and Nelson though... -
And no state income tax... another reason Wallace went to the Dolphins...
-
I really don't have a favorite... But I believe the Bills MUST draft a QB at #8... Play him from Day 1 like Tannehill... If he totally sucks we'll at least have another high draft position next year and could even draft his replacement if necessary... He might make a decent backup at least... On the other hand if OBD picks the right QB we'll have our QB for the next decade.... Again I have no favorite QB yet... Smith, Barkley, and Wilson seem to be the 3 most highly regarded so far but only the Bills know how they rank these QBs...
-
I don't see the Bills going after Bowe But Henderson makes a lot of sense... Not enough cap space to go after Bowe...

What should the Bills do at #8?
DefenseWins replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I recall, Barkley was on almost everyones wishlist last year - now he's a pariah?? Any of the guys you just mentioned could easily have the same thing happen to them next year... How long are you gonna wait to draft a QB??? -
In addition to the punter debacle, Jacksonville also selected Blaine Gabbert who looks like a bust too... I would hope though that the Bills draft at least 1 QB if not 2 this offseason... And say what you will about Flutie - He made the games entertaining, Not like what we've seen the last 12 years... My problem with NIX is that he never took a flyer on ANY of these QB's... You have to be in it to win it....

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
DefenseWins replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Following along with that idea since we stole the Jets DC Pettine, might the Jets who need a QB as bad as we do try to "leapfrog" us and snatch Nassib before we can at #8 ? -
Lovie or McCoy work for me...
-
If you want a particular QB in this draft I think you need to use the #8 pick to get him... For all we know, you could see 3 or more QB's taken in the top 10 picks... And Nix and crew are not known for trading up or down in previous drafts... And whoever the new HC ends up being, I would think he should have some input here too... After all, the new Coach is likely to sink or swim based on the play of the QB we draft... My personal choices for Coach would be: 1 Chip Kelly 2 Jon Gruden 3 Lovie Smith tied with McCarthy It's too bad we'll never know what QB each of the HC candidates would prefer If he were made HC...
