  1. Just on here to make note that if any team actually thought it started at noon EST, they will be off by an hour. Yesterday, daylight savings time started and we pushed the clocks ahead an hour. The so-called legal tampering period started at noon EDT which would actually be 11 AM EST. So, any GM too stupid to know the difference is behind by an hour! But, more to the point, Former, as others have pointed out, it starts at noon EDT, not noon local time. And, 9 AM PDT is not so early that GMs are unwilling to be talking to agents at that time of the day.
  2. That's basically what Joe Marino has been saying for the past week. He must take a pay cut at least equivalent to the $8.3 million (I may not have remembered exactly correct, but I'm sure I'm close) cap relief we'd get by cutting him. Marino says even then he's fine either way, would kind of prefer to just cut him and get younger.
  3. It's irrelevant that you'd forgive him. Unless you're not a Bills fan,why would you want to weaken the Bills? Getting rid of Diggs was a great example of addiction by subtraction. Talented cancers are still cancerous and ultimately make the team worse.
  4. Except the problem is he's not an all around back at all. All around backs rush, catch, and block. Thurman Thomas frequently was called the best all around back over Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith because he was a much better blocker (and a better receiver). Cook CAN'T block.
  5. I was at the game on my regular seat, 30 yd line opposite end from this play. At first I thought it was a TD and yelled "Oh fxxx !". By then everyone was celebrating and I felt like an axx.
  6. I have a work leadership conference at a resort in San Juan Puerto Rico starting today. Reception starts at 5 est. which i assume will be done enough by game time. I'll be at a pool bar watching. I've already had 4 beers during this 1st game so soon I'll need to start pacing myself.
  7. It is 7 games out of approximately 1000 games, but that means 0.7%, not 0.007%. But, is that really the way to look at it? Although accurate that knowing you're watching a Bills game there's only a 7/960 (I assumed your game count is close enough) chance of it being a SB appearance clinching game, the other games during the pre-season, post-season, and regular season would never have an opportunity to be a game to go to the SB. Best case is there's one chance per year to be in that game. So, the way I'd look at is 7 years out of 64 or a 10.9% chance that this is a year we're in the conference finals. Regardless, just win this game and let's be in the Super Bowl! Go Bills!
  8. I actually had meant to content about air quality. For those who don't see it you maybe can't imagine how bad it gets. With fires 50 miles away it is very noticeable. Youth sports get canceled. When not bad enough for canceling, when my son was a teenager he'd get asthma attacks if he tried playing during fires.
  9. I live in south Orange County which is a bit closer to LA than to San Diego. No fires near my house now but the winds are really bad from what my wife is telling me (I'm in Alabama for work this week and going from here to Rochester to go to the game on Sunday). My wife told me that my Bills flag was blown off of the flag pole rod it's on and the pole is completely bent from the winds. I asked if she at least was able to retrieve my flag, she did. But, she added, "Before you ask, I'm NOT going to get on a ladder and try to take care of your flag in these winds." See picture below. That's the only damage we have.
  10. Where are you finding practice squad elevations? I've checked the Bills app and website, ESPN, NFL.com, and did a google search and not finding it. The last two weeks I couldn't find them either.
  11. I think the stat was points per drive, 3.12 ppd is 2nd to 2008 Patriots who had something like 3.89.
  12. Love it (Bills converts that is, not the YouTube)! I mentioned in the post you quoted that my daughter's boyfriend is from Chicago and is a lifelong Bears fan. I took him (as well as my daughter, wife, and son) to the NE playoff game a couple of years ago. He wanted Bills gear this year for Christmas! Not so sure I'd call him a convert, but with the Bears being sooo bad for so long and since my family are all Bills fans, he's on his way. Or, he's just trying to butter me up.
  13. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed getting this history! I'd like to hear if others agree with something I recently told my daughter's boyfriend. He's grew up in Chicago and is a Bears fan. He's actually turning into a bit of a Bills fan ever since I took them to the playoff game against NE a couple years ago. I told him that we have the huge reputation of crazy tailgates (i think most non-Bills fans know about jumping through tables but not so much about Pinto Ron, etc.) mostly from the drought years. Now that the Bills are good again, it's more about the game and less usable jumping. It's like what else could we do for all those years but drink and do crazy shxx. Now the games actually matter! Am I wrong?
  14. The Bills original colors copied Detroit's because Ralph had been a minority owner of the Lions. Fortunately they only used them for i think one season?
  15. For those that didn't know our didn't remember, Pitts was assistant head coach under Levy. 1n 1995 Levy had prostate cancer and Pitts was the head coach for 3 games. I remembered the above but had completely forgotten that he coached under Knox, left, and came back to the Bills under Stevenson. He stayed with the Bills until he passed away during the off-season in 1998. RIP
  16. In the regular season you can only call up a player 3 times, not 4. After that, they'd need to be waived so any team could try to put them on their practice squad.
  17. Yes, Warcodered said it but in case he wasn't clear enough, after the trade deadline all players are subject to waivers. And yes, the team claiming takes on the current contract which would make it difficult for the Bills to claim him. There must be some playoff team that could take it on though. After waivers, he's a free agent and any team can negotiate a salary with him.
  18. You don't need to discuss much.
  19. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. For the longest time, I kept thinking when I'd hear either name, "wait, is that the LB or the CB?". And, since my father's first name is Bernard (Bernie), I bought my father a Bernard jersey for his 100th birthday back in August. He wears it now when he watches Bills games. So, now, I just remember that my dad is wearing the LB's jersey.
  20. I think when teams, including the Bills, do this they are signaling a run play and it means the D mostly focuses on the run. Defenses typically have success when they know that a run play is coming. Last year at the Chargers game they ran this quite a bit. The Chargers were not very good last year and this was the first game under an interim coach. We barely beat the Chargers that day even though we were the much better team. I typically wouldn't notice that they were adding an extra tackle unless it's pointed out. I was at the game and of course the referee announces before each of these plays, "Number 76 is reporting as eligible." David Edwards played that role last year and it seemed the Chargers stopped 75% of these plays for very little gain. Interestingly enough, couldn't hear these announcements when I went back to watch on TV so if I wasn't at the game, I don't think I ever would have known they ran this play as much as they did.
  21. I'm quite sure you are not correct on #2. I'm pretty sure the original team can make an offer (match or not match), but the player in effect is a free agent to sign to any team's active roster.
  22. The article I read said they had him on the scout team at safety but he wasn't allowed to run or make contact so I'm not really sure what the "playing safety" part even means. I also had read (sorry if already stated but I only read the first two pages and the last few posts) that he was told feel free to stay home the rest of the season. The Giants wanted to play him and he wanted to play but the risk of injury guarantees kicking in wouldn't allow for that. They tried to have him waive the injury guarantees, his agent negotiated with the Giants but couldn't come to an agreement. He was willing to waive part but not the entire injury guarantee. It didn't give any indication of how much he was willing to waive.
  23. Thanks for adding the person's name Happy, although I posted the comment, I didn't care enough to go back and listen for his name. I'd say I enjoyed the podcast and listening to his thoughts in general (as a recap, I had mentioned he was on the Shout podcast the other day). The last question he was asked was about contract extensions for Benford and Bernard and he wasn't that positive about either. Bernard he said is very tricky because he isn't good against the run and I don't agree with this either. To be honest, when I heard his response to this question, it made me reconsider if I put any credence to anything he said, those comments made me think he was a typical national media person who doesn't have time to analyze the Bills specifically. Maybe a bit harsh on my part.
  24. This morning I listened to the Shout podcast. They had someone from The Athletic on for most of the show. One of the last questions was asking about resigning players. The guy wasn't that high on either Benford or Bernard. He wasn't negative, but for Benford he was basically saying it's all McD. and for Bernard it was that he's not very good against the run. I don't agree with either of these statements (although I do agree that McD. absolutely gets the most out of the secondary), just wanted to share an outside media person's take.
  25. I think it's 3. NE and Jets would be 10 -7 if one of them won out. NE would have the tie breaker over the Bills on that case. No chance to clinch next week.
