I think I know why CJ doesn't get on the field more...
simpleman replied to jonramz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly, that's why Gailey gets the big bucks and I watch in the stands or on TV. Except Gailey is getting the bucks and not earning them by being a coach capable of adjusting his alignments with the right personnel on the field to solve their individual weaknesses. -
Cutting Pears and Kelsay could give us money, but not sure on McGee and Merriman. I think McGee still has the talent, skill, desire and heart, but even he now realizes that he has sacrificed too much of his body for it to be effective enough anymore, there is just not enough left there to play with. So he will not resign. When Merriman rejoined the Bills after being released, does anyone know what he signed for? I don't believe it was for big bucks. If he is a bargain, why not resign him. If Fitz returns he needs to restructure to back up QB dollars, or not come back. We should have the money to resign Levitre and Byrd. Get talent on the right side of the O line and a WR in FA. Draft LB high in the draft (Te'o) and a QB or two. Dump the other useless backup QB salaries.

Nix: Patience fans, patience (sorry, no Jay Rosen quotes)
simpleman replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Patience! Patience! Nix! Chan! Wanny! No, it is insanity to keep having patience for 12 years in a row with the same results. :wallbash: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." - Albert Einstein -
Thank You, these are some of the stats I was referring to. I agree the chances of getting him at RT are slim, but he would be a beast at RT. Shifting right would prolong his status as a superior talent, as being a RT is considered less challenging than being a LT. I believe you build on your strengths and use them. We already have superior talent for the run game, a few tweaks could make it dominant. It will take years to become a passing strength in the league, but with a few additions and the right coaching we could become the leading rushing team in the league and a playoff contender in ONE season. Use FA to become a dominant rushing team in one season, or take years to become a passing team. Use the draft to build the pass offense (QB, WR,TE) and the defensive secondary (LB)(corners). I'm tired of waiting, I want a competitive team NOW! That is the choice, win now with the run, or wait for another 3 year plan that doesn't work. We need to at least try for him, if he goes elsewhere fine, but we at least need to try whatever we can do to win NOW!

Looking at the statistics on our right side of the OL I find it hard to believe that people think we should not upgrade on the right. If we actually had a coaching staff that was competent, we could be a real threat to make the playoffs next year with the existing awesome talent we already have in the run game. An upgrade on the right side could be the final piece to becoming a real threat again to legitimate competitive teams.

We are in desperate need of a QB, so desperate we need not one, but two cracks at finding a decent one. We can't afford putting all our eggs in one basket. I would put LB at P1 simply because I don't see a QB worthy of a first round being available at our draft position. If a LB like Te'o is there, we should take him . In both the 2nd and 3rd I would draft the best available QB.(P2,P2), WR,TE, RT, P3 Desperate times require extraordinary measures. A quality LB and two good shots at a decent QB gives this team a shot at finally being respectable, Okay maybe not respectable, but competitive. I don't see an available "Franchise QB" at our draft position this year, but a decent QB in the interim is a move in the right direction. A decent QB gives us breathing room and time to wait out finding that "Franchise QB" in a year when one is actually available to us. Meanwhile with the draft and FA signings we can continue building a solid team to support that "Franchise QB" when we finally get him. I think we are building a good talent base, but sadly without a decent coaching staff, we will continue to flounder. What we need first is a complete refresh at coaching and FO, their unwavering support of Fritz demonstrates their utter lack of ability to judge the suitability of a QB.

If we can't get one of the top two QB's in the draft, my 2nd choice would be Teo in the 1st and one of the other best QB prospects in BOTH the 2nd & 3rd. A top WR through FA.

That does make sense to me. No more major rebuilding (as far as players go). Keep the same 4-3 scheme, just keep plugging in the right pieces and upgrading the weaker links. We are getting closer on the OL. We have great RBs. We need upgrades at WR after our #1, but that could be addressed in FA or the draft. The defensive line has the talent, it just needs better coaching and more upgrading. LBs are definitely an issue, as is QB. But as a whole talent wise, we are moving in the right direction. Whoever comes in must not completely change direction, just have the ability to make the best use of the talent we have. That is the major fail of our GM and coaching staff, the ability to recognize what they have and to ADAPT to the talent and skills of the existing personnel and during the flow of the game. Rigidity and the resistance to abandoning or modifying a stale or losing strategy is the curse of our current coaching staff top to bottom.

Ndamukong Suh kicks Matt Schaub in groin....
simpleman replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No Suh is not an idiot, he knows exactly what he is doing. It is the Refs who are idiots. He should have been called at least 3 other times for late hits on the QB. As someone said, did the NFL bring back the replacement refs and give the real refs the holiday off? They were horrible. The refs decided this game and gave the Texans an unearned holiday gift. -
People who spend their time online picking on other peoples spelling and grammar show they really have nothing substantial to add to the conversation. They just are insecure and trying to boost their own fragile egos. This is not about English Class, this is about Sports. We are know who the poster was talking about. GRAMMAR TROLLS begone!

McGee & Pears to IR, Potter released
simpleman replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just got to say thank you to MCGEE. He tried and gave it his all for this team over the years. May he live long and prosper. -
A good coach puts his team in a position to do what they do best. Chan has failed to do that. This team has the talent and ability to run the ball well. We are blessed with a great grind it out RB, and a true star RB who can run in space. We have an O line that has proven they can open lanes for our backs. We have a QB who can't get the ball more than 20 yards down field with any accuracy, leading to consistent over and under throws and picks. We have a weak group of receivers whose talent and abilities can't overcome the weaknesses of our QB. The WRs we do have who can get open deep down field have no one who can throw to them accurately. A good coach would utilize the strengths of our team at running. A bad coach would keep trying the same thing over and over again and failing by trying to emphasize the passing game. And Chan is not just the OC, he is the head coach, he is responsible for the whole team, including the defense. His choice and support of the DC is his job. If you feel he has selected the right DC and feel that the DC is doing a good job, then you might say Chan has done a good job supervising the DC. Personally I feel the DC has been beyond horrible and should have been fired during the bye. Therefore Chan has also failed miserably in his job of selecting and supervising the coaches under him.

what happened to 40 touches for our RBs?
simpleman replied to buffalover4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't understand how anyone can defend our coaches. We are in a sea battle and we send out (Fritz) a rowboat armed with a musket when we have a modern battleship (CJ). On any well coached team CJ would already be a pro bowl certainty. And that is not even mentioning our other premier RB. Insanity!!! All CJ does is perform incredibly when he is given the opportunity. Is their a huge performance incentive clause in his contract the Bills are worrying about having to pay him if they play him too much or he plays too well? -
Oh yes, a new coaching team at defense will set us back from where we are right now. Worse than 32nd out of 32 teams!! :wallbash:

It took them 7 games, but THEY DID IT!! Worst D in NFL
simpleman replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We can not afford to rebuild again. What we need are new coaches that are flexible and know how to adapt. We need a GM, HC, OC and DC that all know how to build on, and work with the talent they already have. To use what they already have, and tailor their schemes around the strengths of the players and compensate for their weaknesses. To develop, teach and motivate the players to be the best they can be. Dump common conventions and just make the best use of what we have. Stop using old fashion "formulas" and "methods". It is not about whether the 3-4 defense is better than the 4-3, or Cover 2. It is about what scheme is best for the talent you have now and is the quickest and easiest to build upon to win NOW. Be creative and create new trends instead of blindly following old dying ones. Put players in the best position they have the opportunity to excel in. We have 2 RBs to die for. Use them, forget the naysayers that say you can't run and win in today's NFL. Prove the "experts" wrong. Remember, when you speak the word "expert " you are simply describing an unknown drip under pressure. (X= unknown, spurt= drip under pressure) We have tried using retread coaches from the past, and yes we can't attract the best and brightest established coaches. But i bet the hungry, young talented innovators out there would jump at the chance to show the "good old boys" just what they can do. Could we do any worse than 32nd out of 32 teams. -
