  1. I have the highest hopes of the draft for Richardson and Henderson. I hope Marrone really does know how to coach up o-linemen. Imagine a line of Glenn, Richardson,Woods,Henderson & Kouandjio. If Marrone could actually make that line work :worthy:
  2. If he can bring his weight down and commit to a serious conditioning program he could be the real steal of this draft for the Bills. The question is, how committed is he to being all he is capable of being? You are right. Cyrus already is there, I should not have included him in the same sentence with the others when I shortened my post. But he does need someone to keep him that way. I was thinking more about efforts to strengthen his knee, not about his weight. And a serious effort by the Bills to pay attention to nutrition and conditioning is a huge need for the Bills.
  3. According to Over The Cap all the dead money for released players will be gone, including the ones that are eating up our cap space in 2014. Steve Johnson $10,225,000 Ryan Fitzpatrick $7,000,000 Mark Anderson $3,000,000 Rian Lindell $1,375,000 Kevin Kolb $500,000 Brad Smith $500,000 http://overthecap.com/teamcap.php?Team=Bills&Year=2014
  4. Lack of cap space is a poor excuse for not signing players that can help the Bills make the playoffs. Whaley has already shown a willingness to sacrifice the future for what he needs this year by giving up a first and 4th next year for Watkins. DE needs to be dealt with if we want a playoff run this year. Eric Pears 3 million + Doug Legursky 1 million can be cut if cap space is an issue. We have over 11 million to sign our draftees, even with 3-5 million for Watkins. The Bills chose their right tackle with their 2nd round pick. Paying 3 million to Pears does not make sense. We are paying 2.4 million to Williams to play guard. We drafted Richardson as a guard and also took a flyer on Henderson .Legursky is no prize at an extra 1 million, if we need cap space. As someone mentioned, multi year contracts can be structured to move cap hits into future years. We have almost 20 million dead money expiring next year from SJ & RF. So plenty of cap next year is available for extensions of CJ & Dareus.
  5. Now the Bills need to open up that wallet and let the moths fly. Hire a quality nutritionist and upgrade our training staff to whip these guys into decent shape. Keep a tight rope on their eating and workout to increase their coordination, strength and stamina. Too bad they don't have the drive of Bruce Smith, Mr. 15% body fat and all tightly strung pure muscle. Imagine Dareus, Cyrus, Cyril & others in top shape and with pure muscle rather than flab.
  6. I don't remember it being off field issues. I thought it was the fact that Marrone felt it was lack of effort and dedication. I have no problem with this gamble so late. Hey I would even take a flyer on Colt Lyerla as an UDFA. What do we have to loose in a case like this?
  7. I would not waste a draft pick on Colt Lyerla. While he has great natural potential, he has more red flags than any player in recent history. An UDFA signing is fine, but I think the chances of success with him turning his life around are extremely poor. The others are UDFA fodder. Maybe a one in 50 chance they will be solid NFL TE greater than our current players. I see no one on the list better than our current TE.
  8. Looking at the list, round 4 has no real talent left at TE. Andre Williams is there at RB. Unfortunately the DE talent is already very weak. The S talent is all later round. If I was picking BPA based on need, I would chose Williams, if he is still there, or the BPA at DE. Or grab the best QB, since the talent there is still decent for a backup. I think I would gamble and wait for the 5th to get my G or QB due to the quantity of talent left at those positions.
  9. What a stupid move. Then again, Whaley will not be here next year to pay for it. Justice would be if he is unemployed and out of the game for years to come. No intelligent, knowledgeable person would have made such a bonehead move. Assuming the absolute best, and Watkins is Megatron 2.0, lets look at history. Megatron year one with John Kinta throwing 4068 yards. His first year Megatron was the 3rd best receiver on the team, Behind Shaun McDonald 943 yards Roy Williams 838 yards, and just ahead of the “spectacular” Mike Furry with 664 yards. Lions season record 7-8. The next year Kinta was injured, Lions season record 0-16. The Bills have EJ Manuel, an unproven QB with an unspectacular record at QB. If he fails this year they have no #1 or #4 next year to draft his replacement. No chance to draft a Matthew Stafford like the Lions did after a horrible season. No 3 years in a row 4000 yard passer to pass the ball to Megatron 2.0. Trading number 1 picks in the future works so well. Ask Washington who was so bad after their trading away later year number 1 picks that they were the 2nd worse team this year. Nice #2 pick in this this year;s draft wasn't it? Oh yes, I smell playoffs soon in our future, NOT!
  10. Fire the whole FO. Fools! This draft is over for me already. Crap!
  11. I have posted this many times. Who is that good RT in the 3rd. The only remote possibilities are Turner or Richardson. And I doubt either makes it out of the 2nd,
  12. If I was the new owner and there was any trade up in the 1st, it would mean an automatic fire for the FO soon after I took over the team. Of course it would probably happen anyway. No geniuses have exposed themselves there in the past decade.
  13. "Draft Insider's Tony Pauline cited sources to report Monday that the Ravens have zeroed in on tight end Eric Ebron as their "No. 1 target" in Round 1." Trade our #9 for their #17 and their 2nd round pick. Grab the best OT available at 17 and get 2 2nd rounder picks. Grab one of the TE ASJ or Nikolas, or WR Moncrief. or DE Martin. Get a ILB and RB in the 3rd and 4th. A QB prospect in the 5th. Sign a couple UDFA S and we are looking decent.
  14. Not sure about superstars, but I agree they all have strong potential to be high value picks at their positions
  15. My final draft hopes. Draft needs in order of need: OL,TE,DE,ILB,S,RB,QB. Either OL Matthews in the 1st, or try to trade down and pick up an extra 2nd. If no trade down opportunity, then pick the best OL player the Bills have rated. If another 2nd is acquired, then BPA at need in 1st and the 1st pick of the 2nd is the Bills best rated OL available. TE Niklas or ASJ in the 2nd If DE Kareem Martin is there in the 3rd, he should be the selection. If ILB Skov or RB Andre Williams are there in the 4th, the Bills should snatch one of them. IF there is a decent QB prospect the Bills like in the 5th, they should grab him. S Dixon or Boston if either are still there in the 7th, otherwise depth at need.
  16. I guess I don't agree with your assessment of Flutie. He was never given a chance to really show what he was capable of. I am not saying draft Manziel, just saying Flutie was not a bust in my mind. Honestly, I would be happy if EJ could at least even turn out to be Flutie 2.0. I'm not sure he can even accomplish that. I can only hope.
  17. Boy do I hope this is wrong. That would leave no talent worthy of a #9 pick at any position of need. I could only hope for a trade down offer. way to ruin my weekend!
  18. If James is still there in the 3rd he would be a steal for the Bills. Numerous mocks don't show Moses or James making it past the 1st.
  19. If Robinson or Matthews is available you take them or make a trade down, picking up extra picks. If not you either try to trade down or take the BPA based on need. Not sold on any TE or Lewan at #9. Later in the 1st in a trade down, yes. I Like Niklas in the 2nd or ASJ.
  20. I only see trading up this year as a smart move for a franchisee QB. A QB is the only player that can single handily move a team forward to being Super Bowl competitive. I see no Brady, no Luck, no Manning, or similar player who is even close to a sure shot. (yes, I know Brady was not even such a consideration during his draft year). If a team is just one player away from a Super Bowl, then it might make sense. The Bills are far from being just one player away from being in that position. I don't see any ONE player that will possibly make the Bills be a Super Bowl favorite. It would make more sense to trade down in this deep draft and hope to get a couple impact players this year that might just put the Bills in the position in next years draft to be just that one player away.
  21. Check out the site. It is a draft simulator program that allows you to choose from various readily available positional ranking lists, and assigns the players drafted by other teams strictly according to the program designers perception of their positional needs and then next highest ranked player at that position. Similar to how the simulator that Astro provides data for the Bills for. It is strictly for amusement and limited by the information that is fed in by the programmers. But it is still fun anyway. In a real draft players sometimes do drop from pre draft day expectations. Who would have ever expected the Bills to get gifted with Glenn in the 2nd? Almost no one!
  22. If we were so blessed with two such talented OTs I would let them both have time at both LT and RT in camp and the preseason. I would pencil in Matthews at RT, but make it clear the best man at LT will start there. Winning Football is about putting the best players in the best position to win the game. If Matthews is better than Glenn at LT, then that is where he should be. If Glenn is better at LT, then that is where he should be. You earn a spot by being the best man on the team at that position, not by what you did a year ago, but who is better in the NOW. And if it changes during the season, then so be it, whoever is the better at the position should play there. It is not about a players EGO, it is about WINNING as a team.
  23. Actually the link I just posted in this thread from Walter Football amasses stats to show exactly the opposite. Check out the link.
  24. I googled "top rated NFL Offensive tackles", removed the historical players from the various lists and took the consensus top 10. Build your own list, I don't necessarily personally agree with some, like Monroe and Bulaga, but just was trying to get a consensus listing.
  25. From http://walterfootbal...sivetackles.php “Since 1993, there have only been five busts at the offensive tackle position in the top 16 picks of the NFL Draft. …. Pretty insane, huh? Offensive tackles chosen in the top 16 hit 69.2 percent of the time and bust on just a 19.2-percent clip. …. There will always be busts at every position in the NFL Draft. There is no such thing as a guarantee when you're giving 21- and 22-year-olds millions of dollars. But offensive tackles are as close to a guarantee as you're going to get.” I wouldn't tar and feather you, just hope you are wrong. I am trying to be optimistic here! Please don't ruin the party.
