Wild Card Weekend: Bills at Jax - 1st Half Thread
simpleman replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And an Offensive Coordinator! Not an Offensive Coordinator who is Offensive to his position. -
Yes, I know . Whaley sucked, LOL.

Matt Milano graded out among top rookie LB's
simpleman replied to SaviorPeterman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well said. This is the most logical assumption we can make. Others try to credit one or the other with the draft, but I would say Whaley drafted players to fit his HC's stated needs. Exactly how the system is suppose to work in a healthy NFL team environment. Even though there was obvious tension between Whaley and Marrone, and to a lesser extent Whaley and Rex, he delivered for his HCs in every draft including this one. -
What QB do you want to draft.
simpleman replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't want to give away all our high picks to trade up. We have way too many holes to fill to do that, nothing more than a 1st, a second and a later round at most if we feel we really need to do it to get "our guy", and only if the scouting staff is absolutely positive about him. Forget the top 3 QB picks, they will be too rich. I would rather trade one to KC for Smith if that was possible, and let our new pick we got by not trading up in the 1st develop. We really need to first get a solid Oline to protect our QB and let our running game flourish to take the pressure off whoever our QB is. And we need to a Dline to hold the rush and hurry the passer. -
"Exactly how many high dollar cost stadiums around the country are returning that extra cost? And if you say there are ones that do, please share the proof that they do so. Plus it is not just the stadium. It is cost for upgrading mass transit, parking, roads and infrastructure to support those events. State and county taxpayers can not afford to support these "palaces" for a small minority of attendees and businesses that do benefit from them. " I don't throw around what ifs. If you think that the taxpayers don't pay for infrastructure, roads, mass transit, sewer, water then who does? Exactly who do you think pays for them? And exactly how many current NFL stadiums are currently not subsidized by the taxpayers? If you call those what ifs, I can't help you. If you want a high end "palace", then build it without taxpayer support or incentives, that is a true free enterprise in action. I would gladly cheer on your expenses and efforts to build it as extravagantly as you desire. Someone who tries to throw off a question by asking more questions is a sign that someone is unwilling to answer the tough questions by trying to avoid them. I'm still waiting for you to answer the first question, what high end stadiums are there that generate more taxpayer benefit and income than the taxpayers have invested in them? Please answer the questions instead of trying to dodge them.

I have not given up totally on Zay yet. I would not call him a bust yet, but he had better be a much better player in next year's preseason, or he could be a late cut. He has a horrible target/catch ratio and has shown horrible hands. I admit I was a Krupp supporter in the draft, and he has not exactly lit up the league either his first season. Zay was definitely not worth the extra draft pick Buffalo spent on him, but bad drafting is a Buffalo tradition, and that is not his fault.

New Years Resolutions for McBeane

New Years Resolutions for McBeane
simpleman replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, unfortunately there is no sarcasm font. Your use of McBeane as a contraction is very irritating for a simple reason. You and I may know there are two people, but you are just inflaming the large number of TBD denizens that keep confusing the actions of one vs the other. Hence my mention of the fact that McDermott had input in the draft, but "McBeane" did not. Using McBeane only affirms the belief that what one has done, the other also has done. -
New Years Resolutions for McBeane
simpleman replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The last I saw them McBeane and McDermott are not attached Siamese twins. They both have names that begin with Mc and both previously were employed by Carolina. But they are not the same person or have the same position or responsibilities.McBeane is a GM, McDermott is a HC. I have not seen McBeane clapping excessively. McBeane had nothing to do with the 2017 draft, he was not employed by Buffalo at that time. McDermott had some input in the 2017 draft along with a different GM at the time. Please respect their individuality and the facts. Thank You! -
Running back situation: code red

And between keeping Tolbert and Vlad, giving up a 3rd round comp pic for a trio of slugs, and trading Dareus for a 6th we should trust McBeane to draft wisely why? -
[Vague Title]Raiders let promising get away, signed by Bills
simpleman replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh really. Did he do that for the Carolina team last year during the draft? Beane was not with the Bills during the last draft. -

obviously the Oakland coaches don't have the grasp of what great talent is like the writer does, kind of like how the Bills don't have a grasp of d players on their practice squad like the NE scouts do. -
2018 Trade partners moving up the board
simpleman replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have too many holes, and created even worse holes with all the trades and player actions this year. What good is a gamble on QB if we don't have the players on the field to protect and support a rookie QB. After the top two QB picks, every player is a serious gamble. I would trade a 1st, a 2nd and a maybe a high round pick, at most, to get into the bottom of the top 10 if there is a QB still there that our scouts think is worth it. Otherwise, I would use our regular picks to get a QB prospect. Build a team to protect a QB and help him flourish and grow, don't destroy him before he even has a chance to succeed. Right now on offense we have McCoy and possibly Clay, not much else reliable to build on for the future. -
Robert Griffin III - should Bills consider him for backup QB?
simpleman replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the fans here could only separate sports from politics, I would rather bring in Kap to play in the Cap as a backup, or even possibly as a bridge for next year at the right price if he could earn it by being the best QB on the field in the preseason. He truly is a better player than some of the QBs currently starting around the league this next weekend. But we just can't have nice things with all our crusaders here. -

Yes. Simple enough to know the difference from McBeane and McDermott. -

Don't let the fact that McBeane was not with the Bills organization at the time of the draft get in the way of building your false narrative. -
Is the 2018 QB class highly overrated?
simpleman replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see moving up if it costs you more than one of your 1st rounds, a 2nd and possibly another latter round. We have too many serious holes to fill at OL, DL, LB and WR. We need to first build an Oline to protect the QB if we get one, or they are doomed to failure. -
Tre White: "the whole hood want 'em (Gronk)"
simpleman replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This chain would be perfect if people had to use real names and not hide behind their anonymity. Law enforcement and the HR departments of hiring companies could easily separate the sociopaths from the good citizens in society using it. The web is forever. I know it shows me who on this board are the fans of "the sport of football" who value and believe in sportsmanship and fair play, and those who have the values of gangsters and thugs. Very enlightening. I just got a very valuable profile of the posters here for future reference. -
Recent comments about incidents like the Gronk hit show how differently Football Fans view the game. I have no problem with football being a violent game. But every legitimate sporting game has a set of rules to that game. To me, when you are violating those rules and you cause injuries to others, you are committing assault, you are no longer just playing hard in a violent game. I watch the game to enjoy seeing individuals with talents that I don’t have play in an organized game. I do not watch a game to see thugs assaulting those that ARE playing the game and following those rules. I understand there are times when a player may mistakenly or accidently violate the rules, and they have to be a man and accept the consequences of their actions. And there are times that the refs unfairly accuse the player of violating the rules. A man who is a true sportsman accepts those occurrences as part of the game. But I have trouble with those that intentionally assault others by assaulting them outside of the rules. Gronk hit White well after the play was whistled dead, while he was defenseless, and clearly already well out of bounds. That is not violence within the game, it is assault with intent. The recent hit in the game with the Steelers showed what happens when players use the game to settle differences. When you become a headhunter or enforcer outside of the sport and the rules. Yet I read here of posters upset about the Gronk hit complaining that the other Bills players did not respond to Gronk’s assault with illegal actions and assault in retaliation during the game. Actions that could have resulted in negative consequences for the team. Yes, the team had already lost the game at that point, but that still does not make it all right to violate the rules just because you had already hopelessly lost the game. It does not excuse losing your integrity. I thought a major part of McD’s “Process” was suppose to be about positive “character”. It may be old fashioned in today’s culture, but I still believe what my parents taught me, “Two wrongs don’t make a right”. I find such calls, and calls for future revenge on Gronk in a game by breaking the rules and committing assault repulsive and immoral. If you are a fan of two people beating the crap out of each other, how about watching a UFC or MMA sanctioned fight and let those that are fans of the “Game of Football” watch good football played according to the rules of football. Not some perverted derivative of it. A good athlete plays the game according to the rules, whether they agree with them all or not. They play hard and fair, and win or loose according to them. They do not play outside the rules, or only follow those rules that suit them. That is true sportsmanship, which I respect and admire. Not thuggery.

Should we take a look at other QB flyers?
simpleman replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe I'm the one misreading the OP's message, but I thought he was suggesting that after our two NE losses that the season would effectively be over, and that we might consider bringing in other QB prospects off the practice squads of the other teams as backups that our scouts think might have potential, and check them out in practice for next year. It costs next to nothing to grab someone off the practice squad. I understand the chances of finding a decent QB off a PS is minimal, but there is minimal downside or investment. I assume he has given up totally on Nate, which is understandable after his historic performance. If we are out of the race this year, he is saying get rid of the crud at the bottom of the roster and get a jump on next year in the search for a possible gem at QB. It makes sense to me, it is zero risk and gets a jump on next year to start working on possible solutions to a rebuild this year instead of wasting time uselessly this year. The clock is already ticking on year 18. -
Turning our KC Pick into a top 5 pick?
simpleman replied to simpleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do you really believe that all of the above will happen. The Colts give up on Luck. Chicago gives up on Trubisky so soon after spending what they spent on him this year. The Bucs give up on Winston. Houston gives up on Watson. No one with a high pick goes after Bradford, Bridgewater, Keenum or Cousins instead, hoping to win now rather than waste a year on an unproven rookie. If KC gives up on Smith, no one would take a game manager if they thought the rest of the team could win now with him. No one would take a TT if they were close to winning now. TT is good game manager, and the Bills could win with him if the rest of the team was not such a mess. I don't see anywhere near 7 QB going first. Maybe 3 , possibly 4 if including Buffalo in a trade up.
