    This has a big effect during games, of course, but doesn't the current CBA significantly limit the number of padded, full-contact practices a team can have during a season? The sessions during the week are way less physically demanding than they once were.

    I agree with this and think he's going to be one of those guys who hangs it up way before anyone expects him to do so. He's certainly hitting those endorsement deals like a guy who doesn't plan to still be earning NFL paychecks into his mid-30s.

    You're right - the run-blocking has been phenomenal. Beane deserves a tip of the cap for putting that together.

    We have gotten way too fearful of turning the ball over, and that message has turned what once was a gunslinger QB into a tentative game manager. An interception here and there is not the end of the world, particularly on passes 20+ yards down the field. The adage of needing to crack a few eggs to make an omlette is relative here - we do not have the horses to consistently pull off 10+ play drives all game, nor should we be limiting offensive possessions with an MVP under center. The coaching staff's gameplan and quarterback are completely mismatched.

    We have the worst cap situation in the league with very little elite talent outside of Cook and Allen.

    For the same reason we allocate tons of assets to defensive lineman. Head coaches prioritize the side of the ball that's their specialty.

    I've already talked myself into his triumph return: "He's only 26. He's got something to prove. This is the last chance to salvage his career. He knows the coaches. He and Allen have had huge games together before!"

    In all seriousness, we started getting called for everything after pulling ahead of KC by two games early. During that same period, they were able to topple the best team in the league on the back of a zero-penalty performance. Probably just a coincidence!
