I've always secretly thought he might retire if he won a Super Bowl, even of it came before he turned 30. Just seems like he's got a whole life outside of football and doesn't really need it. Will the team break his spirit before he even gets to win one? Time will tell!

Do Bills players think they can beat the Chiefs?
T.E. replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
The defense is constantly out of position to defend against the pass. Ultimately the inability to adjust to that falls on the coaches. As an aside, I wish on offense, we ran high percentage plays like that. -
The 13 Seconds game was probably the most cowardly coaching moment in NFL history. He wanted the ball kicked out of the endzone because he was terrified of a miracle return. He allowed Mahomes to hit Kelce over the middle for two uncontested big gains in exchange for not giving up a big play to Hill. He conceded the long FG attempt and was just praying that Butker missed it. The fact that some people watched that and thought to themselves "There's a guy who will win a Super Bowl if we give him enough chances" is beyond me. It's never going to happen, folks.

They just wilt in big moments because of the general demeanor of our coaching staff. Everything is always frantic from the top down. There is never an actual plan in place...the whole philosophy is based on reacting to what the other team does. An absolute equation for losing against top-tier squads. -

Nobody on earth thought that our defense - one of the least clutch units in recent NFL memory - was going to get some big stop there. Absolutely no one, including Dawkins and every other player on the team. -
Would we even use him? We used a 1st round pick on Kincaid. We used our first pick last year in Coleman. Our biggest free agency signing was Curtis Samuel. We paid a pretty steep price for a half-season rental of Amari Cooper. McDermott and Brady made zero effort to get these guys the ball all season. Were there injuries? Sure, but there were multiple games where they were healthy and not even playing half the snaps. We had one period where we attempted to utilize Allen over the top, and that was with Daboll, who McDermott clashed with because the latter desparately wanted to install his "1995 Pittsburgh Steelers with Neil O'Donnell" system.

Hard to beat the Chiefs and the refs every post-season

The line judge who overturned it with no view of the ball is supposedly an avowed Ravens fan with family ties to Kansas City. https://x.com/tailgate_beers/status/1884309512406110242 -
Guy was averaging a sack a game until he blew his knee out. Typical Bills luck.

We've allocated tons of resources to the defensive line and secondary and both still need a complete overhaul. Can't win that way.

This is a huge issue. He's got Allen way too worried about turnovers and now JA is playing tenetively. The team always starts flat. They are never aggressive and never proactive about anything. We react to what the other team is doing; we'd rather play to avoid their strengths rather that play to accentuate ours, etc. This is all McDermott. It's maddening to watch. The guy can't even give a locker room speech after a big win without being as uninspiring and milquetoast as humanly possible.

Still cracks me up that we gave Mahomes to the Chiefs
T.E. replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
He needed every break imaginable to go his way, every officiating call to go his way, and a complete meltdown by our coaching staff to beat us by three - at home, no less. There's a reason Allen the has better playoff head-to-head stats yet still loses over and over again to Mahomes, and it's not because he's getting outplayed. -
Spreading the narrative that Joe Brady is not only competent, but actually a good playcaller.

Allen is better than Mahomes in a vacuum; he is just saddled with a moronic coaching staff while Mahomes has the greatest offensive play-caller of all time at his disposal. -
Chiefs didn't score 30 all year long. We score 29 against them and it isn't enough. LMAO.
-
We were still good because we have Allen. A new coach and front office will have him too.
-
They have to take a chance with a new coach. Simple as that. It's not happening with Schottenheim...I mean, McDermott.
-
We could've had an in-his-prime Deion Sanders replace him, and our coaching staff would've still put him in a position to not make any plays on the ball.
-
He is counting the days until he can opt out of his contract when Stafford retires so that he can go back to his home state and play for a real coach. We can stop it by making some changes, but we won't.
-
We have a great roster with a mediocre coaching staff. Simple as that.
-
Our coaching staff has made a concerted effort to neuter him for weeks. They got exactly what they deserved when you don't put the game in your best player's hands.
-
That's because our coaching SUCKS. McDermott and Brady both. They never do anything to help him. Ever.
-
Diggs was absolute cancer, but I think he did see some cracks in the veneer.
-
If your takeaway from the last few years is that we need an upgrade at QB, I don't know what to tell ya, man.

Wake me up when we have Reid or Spagnoulo.
