Stevie Johnson Jersey's $39.99 @ BuffaloBills.com
poo replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I had one of those calendars. It was so depressing, 9 out of the 12 players in it had already left the Bills. I would be surprised if there was one player, besides freddie, in that calendar still with the team. If you look in the old Bills players jersey section the only jersey over ten bucks is Lee's. Perhaps he is coming back to us? -
With all this talk about injuries I would like to point out something about the #4 team in the list the Buffalo News reported on: The New York Giants. I forgot about that, I read about this back in December, but the number of injuries the Giants sustained was comparable to those the Bills sustained. I can't really prognosticate about how #3 went down in ignominious defeat while #4 won the championship. The Giants did get many of their starters back in time for the playoff run but the disparity in outcomes would seem to speak strongly about, I don't know: the coaching staff, the depth of the roster, the commitment of the back-ups? You could make a case for any of these due to the disparity but I don't want to call into question anyone's skill or dedication. If forced to state my belief I would call it dumb luck.

It would be great to have Abraham but I think he is asking for Washington Redskins type money and commitment. http://www.nflgridirongab.com/2012/02/25/falcons-abraham-says-he-wants-more-than-12-million-per-season/

I don't know if he has played enough to evaluate his play specifically. It is unfortunate he has been held out because of back injuries, which explains the lower numbers on Troup's stat sheet. Most here, and most anywhere else, would agree that the 2010 draft has been a sad repeat of most of the Bill's drafts the past ten, twelve years. 2010 was no exception to this trend of poor drafts. It could be added that the projected switch from 3-4 to a 4-3 base defense might also reduce his value going forward. Having said that, a strong defensive line is one built with numerous substitutes, position and situation players; the Giants fielded a strong example of this scenario on both super bowl runs. Hopefully, Troup can get into the mix for this coming year and start seeing some reps at the pro-level outside of practice. As a way to fulfill the topic's title let's take a look at another defensive lineman out of the 2010 draft. Review Arthur Moats Selection # 6. 6th round, pick 9, 178 overall. Two years, Back - Up Defensive Lineman 2010: 33 combined tackles. 2.5 sacks. 2011: 29 combined tackles. 2.5 sacks. Grade: B For a sixth round pick the Bills have gotten a good amount out of Arthur Moats. The sometime linebacker and defensive lineman has been shifted all over the Bills defensive front. Acting as a multi-positional player Moats has mostly been called onto the field to spell winded lineman and outside linebackers. He is perhaps best known among Buffalo Bills fans by the nickname "Don't Cross the Moats" for the trivia answer that most NFL fan's know him for; namely, Moats' crushing hit on Brett Favre that ended that quarterback's games started streak at 297. I gave the back-up linebacker/defensive lineman pick a B because I believe that grading draft picks should take into consideration the round the player was taken in. For a sixth round player, Moats has been good for the Bills. While there is some concern over Moats' place on the team as it transitions to the 4-3 the pick has been a solid one so far.

Seems to me that their is a bumper crop of high end defensive backs on the list. Finnegan, Grimes or Webb would instantly upgrade our leaky pass defense. We traded away a terrible run defense to become one of the worst pass defense teams. I would like to see improvement in the cb position.

State funding for RWS Stadium improvements?
poo replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The article seems to think that spending on Buffalo would better improve the city. This article from the Wall street journal calls into question the efficacy of investing in downtown Buffalo. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204409004577156603296740624.html I would very much like to see the Bills remain and get some sort of support from the state. I wonder if the treatment given to Ms. Gish earlier in the year has influenced the tone of this Times-Union article. -

Who Thinks Denver Can Beat Pittsburgh This Week?

And best statistic of prediction for the game goes to Talley56! -
Bump it back to the top with 30 points for the chargers. Seriously, I don't know how the coaches spend the work week. Nap time?

Watching Hasselbeck play against the Saints and his manner and size remind me of Fitzpatrick. Anyone else have an opinion on Who does Fitzpatrick look like?

Nice one. Solid day at the stadium.

Defensive Coordinator: George Edwards Buffalo's defense has not performed at a high level, but a lot of that is due to a lack of talent. Edwards is forced to work with castoffs and marginal players. He has done well under the circumstances and will return next season. I certainly agree with the lack of talent on the defense due to injuries and weaknesses in the D-line and Linebackers. But to say he is safe because of this lack of talent is less convincing. They looked good against the pass today but stunk against the run. George Edwards is probably not safe unless there is a major turn around coming up.

Good Luck sir. I just fell off the wagon a few weeks ago. I am quitting again on Monday. Prior to quitting I had been a pack a day smoker for ten years. Remember, because I forgot after a month or two, how good it feels to wake up in the morning and not immediately hack up ****. It is actually very nice. Good Luck again.

Not sure if it will satisfy you heavy metalheads but I have always been partial to Tool myself. Probably well known by all here but why not hear "Stinkfist" again for old times sake? Ah, Auld lange sein. . .

LAMP-"Hun, I just like a bad team"
poo replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hobbies help. Oh, mind numbing amounts of alcohol can drown the sorrows. Really though, the reason we stay watching the Bills and pulling for them is because we are emotionally invested in this team for whatever reason. Obvious enough from it hurting when they lose and elating when they win. It is difficult to walk away from something you have invested so much empathy with. If we as individuals and fans as a group didn't invest ourselves in the team then the games would be exceptionally boring to watch. Watch some soccer from the Champion's League; do you feel much at all when Manchester scores a go ahead goal a minute into overage time? Maybe a little appreciation for super kicking skill or something but nowhere near the level of elation that accompanies Stevie pulling down the winning pass. If you is tired of Billsdom then fill your heart with steel wool and go to your local Bill's representative and shout, "No More! I am through getting hurt by you!" Then start liking a sport that only comes around every four years like curling. But to get through the pain of a Bill's loss and keep on circling them there wagons I would suggest posting on your favorite Bills Board and then meeting friends and family for the next Bills game. That one, is the one they can still win. . . -

So we should spend more time with the OP and his stinky self? Not sure you got the point of the allegory. -

Where do you live vs. Your outlook going forward
poo replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Most interesting part is how few of us live in Buffalo area. Twice as many negative nancys responded from outside Buffalo as people in the area in both categories at this point. For a team with a small population in its immediate area we seem to have many fans outside of Buffalo. Why do you think that is? Not surprised that more out of towners like where the team is going. We don't have to deal with the after-the-loss hangover. -
Jerry Sullivan - Show Stevie The Money
poo replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would like to see Stevie returned at a wr2 salary with boosters for production to give him a shot at wr1 money. While twitter may have some affect on a game it seems to have a much more pronounced affect on the reaction to players in the public sphere. I do not care much at all about a players tweets (are players in anyway your moral compass?) but would like to see a maturity to Stevie Johnson that seems lacking. That being said, nice work making fun of Plaxico the moron. If we can't make fun of a guy who carries a loaded hand gun to a NY club and then shoots himself resulting in two years of jail time, what can we make fun of? -
I did not go to Bonnie's in Park Slope to watch the game like I should have. Our cheers in Brooklyn could have carried across the East River to some effect in the Meadowlands. . .

Yeah. The blitz can cover up a weak secondary or expose it. Yesterday blitzing showed how week we are in coverage with rookies getting burned for numerous touchdowns. On the flip side we looked great most of the day dropping guys back. Florence had his numerous pick opportunities and with safety help the corners were undercutting guys all day. Sanchez started throwing balls in the dirt by the third quarter to avoid picks.
-
You are right. Why not Billieve. I am not one of the haters who says we give up and stop watching to make Ralph do something. Really, the game is all about the wins and losses and the Bills will make anyone who billieves look prophetic or ridiculous. Early in the year we all looked brilliant for having hope that the Bills could beat the Patriots: more wins would bring this same luster to a billiever. However, results will make one look moronic or brilliant, zealous or balanced, and I am inclined to think the Bills finishing 10-6 is a far-fetched. Best of luck to you seeming the brilliant billiever though, as it is a result we all could smile about.
-
I concur with the inefficacy of blitzing for this team. The last few weeks we have made sub-par quarterbacks look good often on blitz plays. We rarely reach the QB and therefore his guys are more likely to get open. It would have been a great call if we got Sanchez but rarely do we get to the QB these days. Calling for coverage had broken up the Jets passing game all day. We got burned on the final drive on blitzing plays. Bad calls George.
